Hey everyone, so I'm finally back with a new chapter. So I finally got a good momentum with rewriting the chapters with Loud Gravity. And I'm happily almost done. Besides that, I got hit with inspiration with updating some of my stories. Including Gravity Loud. I know I said I would update this story again, once I finish half of Loud Gravity, but I felt you all deserved a couple of chapters after being patient with me. And like I said in a previous chapter, I'm changing things up for this story, besides the obvious. Also, I'm switching episodes, instead of doing 'Driving Miss Hazy' I'm going to 'No Guts, No Glori' due to having a good idea for that particular episode. I'll hopefully have it out later, due to it being late.
So I hope you all enjoy this chapter.
I own none of the content.
A Tale of Two Tables
"So, let me get this straight, you need help with getting to the grownups table?" Lucas asked his brother, just to see if he got it right.
Lincoln nodded with an annoyed look, and said," Yeah I mean, I'm sick and tired of being treated like a kid, and being at the kiddie table. I would like to eat my food in piece without a food fight or one of our younger siblings hitting you with food. I'm ready to go to the next level, where it's more mature and where I can eat at peace."
Cause if he got poked or had food thrown in his face again, he was going to lose it.
"Well as mature as it could get with Mabel there, I'm surprised how she can be mature and calm, given her personality. No offense."
Mabel waved him off with a carefree smile, and said," No probs little bro-bro."
Dipper chuckled at his brother's description of his twin, it was true, Leia was one of the most energetic, bouncy people he knew. It still amazed him she could be calm and mature even for a second.
Or how she phrased it, her 'Matureness Self'. And also due to the fact they were pre-teens, and were turning 13 once summer came around. So they both believed they were ready.
"Okay, we can help; I mean all you have to do is ask mom and dad. I mean your 11 little brother, I think it's time."
Lincoln blinked, he was happy his older by one year brother could help. He was originally going to ask Clyde for advice, but he wanted to ask Dipper first, due to him being the one on the inside in a sense. And he could give him advice and pointers on how to be mature, and act at the table.
"Really? I don't need to prove I'm mature in anyway? Like act like a grownup, use table manners, or look mature? Or come up with a speech?"
Dipper gave Lincoln a flat stare, and said," Linc, how do you think Mabel and I got to the grownups table?"
It was true, Mabel had gotten the idea to look as mature as possible and act like it. She had even asked Leni to make her a 'serious suit' as well. And he himself also thought about doing it as well, which he did, but it resulted in him getting embarrassed and slightly injured. So he decided to throw caution into the wind, and ask his parents himself. And he was surprised they agreed to him and Mabel joining them and the older siblings at the table.
Lincoln slapped his face at how simple it sounded, now that he heard it out loud.
Mabel blew a raspberry, and said," Ah man, I wanted to fool him into thinking he needed to do some mature stuff. Like you did, bro-bro." She said the last part with a giggle.
Lincoln raised a brow, and asked," What did he do?"
Mabel used her fingers, and said," He attempted to shave but accidently used Mom's razor that she uses to shave her legs, watched dumb old politics, drink icky coffee, and tried to settle a dispute between Lori and Leni. I have video of all of it."
Both she and Lincoln laughed at that, the latter remembering what he did, while Dipper gave his siblings looks.
Later that night, when dinner started, Lincoln approached the grownup table. Even though Dipper said it wasn't necessary to come up with a speech. But he felt like he needed one.
Lincoln cleared his throat and said," Good evening. I have something I'd like to say! There comes a time in every kid's life when he's ready to put away childish things and make that big leap into the adult world."
Lori had an uninterested look and said impatiently," Get to the point, Lincoln."
"Okay. I don't think I should sit at the kiddie table anymore. I want to sit at the grownup table with you." He finished with the grin.
Everyone, with the exception of Dipper and Mabel, who are giving him thumbs up, looked at him.
Lynn Sr. looked at Rita and said," Well… I think he's ready."
Rita nodded and said," So do I."
"Yes! Woo hoo!" Lincoln cheered.
"Way to go bro-bro!" Mabel cheered and threw some confetti. Where she got it, no one questioned it, with Mabel anything could happen.
Lincoln then sat down and was soon handed what everyone was eating. He had a look of disgust and said," Liver? I thought we were having chicken nuggets."
"That's just for the younger kids, honey. At the grownup table, we eat grownup food." Rita explained.
"And thank goodness for that." Lincoln acted with fake cheer.
Although after that, Lincoln couldn't hide his boredom, due to how boring the conversations were.
"So, Dipper, how was your history presentation go today?" Rita asked.
"I believe I did quite well, mom. I was praised for how informative I was." Dipper proudly said.
"So, Lori, I heard Bobby's dad had a hernia operation. How'd that go?" Lynn Sr. asked.
"Um… okay. I guess."
"Hey! I heard a funny joke today." Lincoln tried to change the subject.
"We don't tell jokes at the grownup table." Luan said.
Leia looked like she was going to blow a raspberry, but she stopped when she stuck out her tongue. And went back to eating, although she looked slightly crestfallen.
"Or sing, brah." Luna added.
Lincoln blinked at that, it didn't help he could hear the younger siblings singing about the food. And also the sound of farts, which had to be Lana making armpit noises. The sound of laughter didn't help either, but Lincoln ended up chuckling a little.
"Something funny, Lincoln?" Lynn Sr. asked.
"Not at this table." Lincoln said.
After that more boring conversations and eating and Lincoln was starting to have second thoughts. When he envisioned being at the grown up table, he honestly didn't expect this. Heck, he never thought he see the day that Leia, who was known to be the most energetic, fun and the most energetic person he knew. To be subdued and calm, basically not herself at the grownup table. She did talk like she normally did when someone asked her something. And she did seem to be moving around little as well. And he also thought she was humming as well.
While for Dipper, he was always mature for his age, so him being like at the grownup table wasn't surprising.
It was right at the end when Lincoln realized he was in way over his head. He saw that his younger siblings had gotten sundaes for desert. And he was wondering what he and the others were going to get.
"Okay… you're all excused." Rita said.
"Uh, mother… I believe you forgot something. Dessert?" Lincoln asked.
"Oh, that's just for the younger kids."
"Ugh seriously… I mean, uh, seriously, who needs the extra calories?" Lincoln faked.
"That's right, son. Say, how does it feel sitting at the ol' grownup table, huh?" Lynn Sr. asked.
"It's everything I dreamed it would be." Lincoln said disappointed.
Once everyone was excused, Lincoln and Dipper were walking to their room.
Dipper looked at his brother and said," So, how did your taste of the grownup life go, Linc? I thought you sounded off earlier."
Lincoln faked a smile and said," Oh, I was just surprised about it all. One step to being a grown up."
"Atta boy, bro-bro! Hopefully soon you'll learn how to do and file taxes!" Mabel said.
Lincoln nodded, wondering how Mabel of all people knew how to do taxes. But, he was starting to have doubts about being at the grownup table.
Was he cut out for it?
The next night, Lincoln approached the grown up table.
"Look, you guys. I thought about it, and I really don't belong here. I think I should go back to the kiddie table."
"You can't go back. you can never go back, bro!" Luna said as if she was in a trance.
The room then suddenly became dark and Lincoln was then chained to his chair.
"You're one of us now, Lincoln. A grownup." Dipper said and revealed the dish, which happened to be Mabel working on taxes.
"It's time now to start filing your taxes, bro-bro!" She said.
Lincoln looked on in horror he then managed to break free and tried to run back to the kiddie table. But he was stopped by his parents, with the most noticeable thing about them, was that their heads were replaced by cooked turkey's. Lincoln screamed in terror.
"Where do you think your going?!" Lynn Sr. said.
"PLEASE! I HAVE TO GET BACK TO THE KIDDIE TABLE! I'M NOT A GROWNUP YET! I'M STILL A KID!" Lincoln pleaded.
He then was then chained up again and was now bound to the grown up table.
"One of us. One of us. One of us." His older siblings chanted.
"NOOOOO!" Lincoln yelled.
Lincoln woke up with a start, but he then banged his head on the top of the bunk bed he shared with Dipper. He winced as he rubbed his head. He noticed he didn't wake up his brother, due to the soft snores coming from up above. He then remembered what happened and fearfully looked around. He sighed in relief.
He then gasped and said," Oh man, I'm not cut out to be grownup yet. How am I going to leave now?" He thought for a moment and then had an idea. "Hmm… maybe it's time to act my age."
The next night at dinner, Lincoln sat at his seat.
"Lincoln Loud in the house! Where my grownups at?" He asked as he played with his silverware. "Are you ready to chow?" He then put two pieces of asparagus between his teeth. "I vant to suck your blood!" He said in an accent.
His sisters and brother all looked at him confusion.
Lincoln then swiped a piece of bread from Luna and ate it.
"Yo! That's mine!" She said.
"Was it? Hey, Leni. You like seafood? See? Food! Blegh!" He said as he stuck his tongue out with the eaten bread.
"Lincoln! Gross!" Leni cried in disgust.
Leia giggled, but stopped herself and said," That's not how your supposed to eat Linc."
"Oh sorry sis. Hey! How about those Republicans?" Lincoln said as he food came out of his mouth.
Lynn and Dipper blocked themselves from the eaten food.
"Ugh! Lincoln! Say it, don't spray it!" Lynn said.
"Okay, not what I was expecting tonight. You okay bro?" Lucas asked.
"Never better, Dip. Nothing but quiet and… Peas!" He said as he flung peas at Lynn.
Lynn grinned and said," Oh, it is on!" She then realized what she was going to do and held back. "I mean… grow up, Lincoln."
"Good grub, dad. It reminds me of a song. Beans, beans, the musical fruit! The more you eat, the more you-" He then farts." Everybody now!" He said and continued farting.
Mabel leaned over to Luan and whispered," I like gross out humor as much as the next gal. But I prefer whoopee cushions." Luan nodded, agreeing with her younger sister. Although she did found Lori's passing gas and then trying to hide it funny.
After having enough of his son's antics, Lynn Sr. said," Lincoln Loud, that is enough!"
"I thought you were ready for the grownups table, but clearly, you are not." Rita agreed.
"You're a tough lady, mom. But fair. Laters." He said and went back to the kiddie table.
"Hey guys! I'm back!" He said and then was hit by mashed potatoes and wiped them off. "Ah, it's good to be home." He then sat down. "What did I miss? Let's… ketchup!"
He then squirted the ketchup bottle at his younger sisters and they laughed. Thus a food fight began. Lynn then appeared from the other room.
"Hey… can I join you guys?"
"Sure. The more, the merrier." Lincoln said.
Lynn sat down next to her brother and said," Huh, never thought it was possible to make it out of the grownup table."
They then heard someone clear their throat. They saw the rest of their siblings.
"Mind if we join?" Dipper asked.
The others motioned for them to sit down. And everyone did.
"Wowzers! If I knew I could go back to the kiddie table. I would've done it sooner!" Mabel said, and then looked at her twin. "Thought you would've wanted to stay at the grownup table Dip."
Dipper shrugged and said," Eh, nothing wrong with letting loose and be a kid. Besides, who doesn't love chicken nuggets?"
He was then hit by mashed potatoes. This caused everyone to engage in a big food fight. And they were laughing and having a good time.
Lincoln looked at the readers and said," There really is no rush to get to the grownup table. It's gonna happen eventually. So in the meantime, might as well enjoy being a kid." He then went back to the food fight.
"Finally, a little peace and quiet." Lynn Sir. Said, as he watched his kids.
"Did you say peas?" Rita joked as she flung peas at her husband. And they both laughed.
