Seeking Answers
It was a bright sunny day, just right for the start of summer vacation and the young teens known as the Avengers amongst themselves, but they weren't all smiles and happiness. They were still rather concerned about what they had discovered and right now they were either sitting on the bench in Washington Square Park, or standing around it, close to each other.
"This was supposed to be a time for us to relax and have fun." Stephanie remarked. "Instead we've got a major threat approaching…"
Matthew sighed. "Tell me about it. Of all the times for Venom to show up, and with this...extra help he's got."
They were all uneasy at that mention and began to try and think.
"There must be something we can do, something to track him down, or to figure out what his plan is." Kelsey remarked.
Amanda quirked an eyebrow. "Yes, we should, but Kelsey-"
Kelsey narrowed her eyes. "I know, alright...but this is not something I can just sit out on."
"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it." Eddie said. "Right now our main concern is to figure out our next move."
Terry shook her head. "Well, that's our real problem."
They all turned to her, confused.
All except Thomas and Barbara.
"Terry's right." Thomas remarked. "Think about it, we're pinning all this on finding Venom...unless we can find him and stop him...there's not much we're going to be able to do?"
Barbara nodded. "So this leaves us with...well, not much truthfully. We're stuck on a wait and see approach and with Venom that's never a good thing."
That was when Amanda remembered. "Wait, Scorpion was after something...you think it was a Symbiote?"
"Scorpion affected by a Symbiote...now that's scary." Stephanie agreed. "But why would he-?"
Jake spoke up at last. "It's Scorpion, he's crazy and greedy, he probably thought all that power would be worth it...of course the added bonus of possibly being freed of his suit enticed him too."
"Makes sense." Eddie agreed. "So we're going to what, just sit and wait?"
"No, we've still got other guys running around causing trouble, we'll deal with them, try to keep problems to a minimum until Venom acts, we're gonna have plenty by then." Matthew explained.
The others all agreed and began to consider if there really was nothing else they could do in preparation for the impending attack from Venom.
It was Eddie who came up with something. "Um, okay...we might be able to at least get more information, but we've gotta be careful about it."
"What are you talking about?" Terry asked warily.
"Who else do we know that has knowledge of the Upside-Down...and the creatures within it?"
"You mean...talk to our parents, that's crazy, they'd want to know why we're asking and we can't exactly tell them-" Kelsey burst out in shock.
Eddie shook his head. "No, not if we are careful, make it seem like...we're just curious about the past...it may be our only chance."
The others grumbled but knew Eddie was right, there was likely no other options.

Concerned over everything that they had learned lately and agreeing that there was no choice, Jake sighed as he exited his bedroom.
'Dammit Eddie...trust you to realize our only solution would also be the most difficult one…' He thought sadly. 'I just hope this doesn't cause too many problems.'
He stepped through into the living room and paused for a moment, watching his dads as they saw watching the TV, he smiled as he saw that Mike had his arm around Will and gently pressed a kiss to the side of his head. It was touching to him that his parents could still be affectionate with each other. He just hoped that what he had to ask them wouldn't cause them too much pain. As he drew nearer his eyes fell on something, something which he realized suddenly could help him in his questions. It was his dads medals for their past actions, their reward for their victory against Vecna.
"Jake?" Will spoke up, spotting him.
He turned to them and smiled. "Sorry, I was just…"
He nodded to the medals. He noticed his dads share a look, clearly uneasy, no doubt remembering the events all the way back then.
"Ah, yes…" Mike said softly.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to bring up memories." He said gently. "I just...I was curious about, about what you guys saw and dealt with...those things you said came from the Upside-Down…"
"What...brought this on?" Will asked, surprised.
Jake shrugged and did his best to act innocent. "Just curious."
Mike ran a hand through his hair. "Well...Can't fault that. It isn't easy but, there are things we can talk about."
Jake nodded and sat down with his dads, ready to hear what they had to say about the Upside-Down.

Jake was shocked at everything he heard but had just quickly managed to finish relaying it to the others in their group call.
"Whoa so…?" Terry gasped. "That all matches up to what my moms told me."
Jake nodded. "Yeah, it makes sense. So, we know these Demodogs are simply, part of an evolutionary chain of a creature called a Demogorgon."
"Which are the most common creature there apparently and are subordinate to the much more dangerous Mind Flayer." Eddie summed up.
"Those were thought to be the most dominant creature, until they learned about Vecna...but now he is destroyed." Barbara remarked.
Thomas then added. "So, we're dealing with Venom as the new Vecna, using his Symbiote powers to make those things even stronger, no doubt he's using the Mind Flayers to control the other creatures."
"Sounds about right." Jake said. "Well, we know what we're up against now...the question is, how to fight it and what to do next."
That was something they didn't have much idea about and left them wary and unsure.
