Hey :P It's Wednesday so it's time for my usual weekly upload. I forget how I got the idea for this but I think it was from me and my TT's usual Pokemon and PokeShipping discussions :P Oh and I think I may have read one similar to this a while ago but I'm not stealing anything. The idea is kinda similar but I made it as different as possible :3 Hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own pokemon :(

"Hey James, can I ask you something?"

The red headed young woman looked over at her purple haired best friend as she cradled her baby daughter closer to her chest.

James looked over at her with a smile but a look of intrigue and slight worry in his eyes.

"Of course you can, Misty. What is it?"

Jessie and James and all their younger children were round the Ketchum house hold for a playdate.

The ex-Team Rocket member's children were running around in the garden, being sprinkled by Delia's water sprinkler, having such fun in the late July's glorious sun. Jayden and Katie however, had fallen asleep after lunch and were curled up on top of their parents, asleep. This gave James and Misty some time to themselves to catch up. Even though both were busy with their families and businesses they still made sure to see each other as often as they had when the male first left Team Rocket. I couldn't help but glance suspiciously over at them from my position on the window ledge.

Those two always got into mischief when they were together.

A few minutes had passed and Misty still hadn't asked James the question that was clearly on her mind. The purple haired man was beginning to get nervous at this, his eyes glancing to her and back to his lap a few times.

"C'mon, Misty what is it?"

The red haired female glanced down at her almost identical daughter, brushing the hair out of the infant's eyes while she slept. After doing that, she finally glanced up at her best friend again.

"How come you gave up trying to steal Pikachu so easily?"

At this, I saw James let out a sigh of relief before suddenly pulling a face when he heard her question. He looked down at his son Jayden and checked he was asleep before thinking about answering Misty's question. Jessie and James planned on not telling their children about their Team Rocket days and they were set firm in never bringing the subject up unless they were alone.

James sighed and looked back over at her, brushing his lavender hair out of his eyes.

"You know why we quit Team Rocket; after our twins were born we left to lead a more legal and safe life for our children."

Misty rolled her eyes, tucking her daughter to sleep on the sofa before joining him on the sofa opposite where she had previously been. She pulled her legs to her chest, looking sideways at James.

"I know that but you left so abruptly. I always thought, I dunno, you'd have a big finale. Some closure."

James laughed sheepishly at this and looked back down at Jayden to avoid looking at her. Misty noticed this and knew he was hiding something. I knew she had to know what.

"What? What is it you're not telling me?"

I watched them get through multiple "tell me's" and multiple "no's" before James finally gave in.

He groaned, shifting himself so he was opposite his red headed best friend.

"Okay…" he sighed, his green orbs going distant as his mind flashed to many years ago.

"We always planned on that the final time we would catch, we were going to kind of steal you and show you locked up in a cage to Ash and that we would let him have you back again if he gave us Pikachu."

James couldn't finish his story as Misty leaned forward and began to hiss quietly at him.

"You were going to use me as bait? Of all the things you've done, that is the worst!"

The older male couldn't help but smirk slightly as he held his hands up in defence. I looked over at Misty. She was about to burst with rage but I couldn't understand why. It was all in the past.

"Once you hear the rest of it, you'll be flattered."

Misty gave him a quite amusing look that made him know that whatever he was about to say, she definitely wasn't going to be flattered.

"We knew that he cared about you so much that if he wouldn't give up Pikachu for you then he wouldn't give him up for anything and that it was pointless going any further."

James and I both glanced over at her at the end of his explanation to see that she had a light blush on her face.

"You mean… You knew Ash had feelings for me?"

James smirked, flipping his hair out of his eyes and pulling an apologetic face when he accidentally whipped her eye with his locks.

"Yes, and we knew he had feelings for you. We never got to try that finale because Jessie got pregnant and our children's safety was way more important."

Misty stood up and sighed, somewhat satisfied with her answer before pouting at him and crossing her arms.

"So you were going to lock me in a cage and demand a pokemon in exchange for a child?"

James winked at her, settling Jayden on the sofa and standing up next to her.

"You got it."

"Wow James, some best friend you are."

I watched as he chased her out the door with his arms wide open for a hug.

"Oh I'm the best."

I couldn't help but smile slightly as I curled up to go back to sleep. Just like I thought, Misty was Ash's biggest weakness next to me. Oh, and food of course.

The End.

There you go, thanks a lot for reading and I hope you enjoyed :P So yeah in my fics, James and Misty have an unusual but really great friendship. We love them 3 Thanks a lot and I'll be back next week :P
