Misty: 33

James: 40

Jayden: 15

Disclaimer: I own only the story :3

It was Christmas Eve and I was surrounded by everyone I loved most in the world. The Ketchum family, like every year, was having a Christmas Bash and all of our friends over the years were invited. In fact, there was so many people that we had to rent a hall in Viridian City, just so everyone could join us. It was hectic to say the least.

There were kids running round everywhere, babies babbling, adults conversing and some getting a little too excited from the bubbly stuff in glasses on the buffet table. It was the best time of year.

I was currently sat on Ash's shoulder, engaging in the conversations wherever he went and laughing at his and other people's jokes. We were inseparable even more than usual at Christmas time.

I saw James put his glass down to talk to Misty and run a hand through his lavender locks. He looked over at the plant hanging from the door with a smirk before glancing back at Misty.

"Have you seen anyone use that thing yet?"

Misty returned his smirk with a scowl after she put her own glass down and looked over at the mistletoe.

"Is that a hint that you want to get me under it?" her scowl turned to a smug look as she tried to embarrass her best friend. I sniggered myself as James blushed the colour of the red santa outfit that Brock was in. Her tormenting sure had worked.

The older male regained his composure after taking another sip of his drink.

"Certainly not with you, I've had many kisses with my own wife in between the time you and Ash got a little cheeky under that door frame."

I watched as it was Misty's turn to blush heavily. Looking down to meet Ash's gaze, I saw him grin happily. I didn't want to know what they had been up to while I wasn't on his shoulder.

"Anyways…" Misty shook off her blush before leaning closer to whisper to James, looking at Ash as she did so, so she knew that her husband wouldn't hear. Luckily for her, he was too distracted by the new food being set out on the buffet table. "Has y'know been under it yet…?"

Now, I'll admit I was getting old and wasn't as young as I used to be but my hearing was still pretty sharp. I was bewildered for a few seconds as to who James and Misty were talking about before I saw them look over in the direction of Jayden and Katie talking to each other in the corner.

Looking at their smiles and James and Misty's smile, I nodded. Ah, they were waiting for them to go under the mistletoe.

As I said before, my hearing is very good, actually better than humans so I could hear everything Jayden and Katie were saying. It's nothing worth mentioning, just stuff about Christmas and being excited and stuff.

I turned my attention back from the young pair to join in Ash's conversation with Gary. I found it pretty amazing how they were so competitive and teasing when they were children. Now they are adults and still just as competitive but they are also kind and offer each other advice and a good laugh. Ash is still usually the one receiving advice, however.

My thoughts of Ash and Gary's relationship were interrupted by Misty squealing quietly and poking James in the ribs. I knew exactly what this meant and I was right.

Looking over at the doorway where the mistletoe was, I saw Jayden and Katie making their way over to it. I couldn't help but smile to be in the presence of young love.

Katie hesitated, holding onto the older boys arm unsurely.

"I don't know, Jayden… I mean I want to but everyone's probably watching. My dad's probably watching!"

Jayden looked at his feet, not even wanting to look up as he knew he would meet the protective glare of Ash Ketchum.

"It doesn't matter. It's Christmas and we're best friends so we're allowed to have a little peck under the mistletoe." The lavender and pink haired male smiled at the girl warmly, squeezing her hand. I could see he had won her over.

The two best friend and secret lovebirds held both of one and other's hands and slowly shuffled under the mistletoe together. I held my breath. I wondered if this was their first kiss or not. They were best friends but always secretly liked each other.

Jayden and Katie were about to lean in for an innocent kiss when Ash suddenly noticed and gasped, rushing towards the scene.

"That's my daughter- Uh!"

Suddenly there was a crash as Ash lost his footing and slipped, hurling himself at the table of food.

Everyone laughed at him as he was covered in all kinds of food; sweet, savoury, healthy and unhealthy. He stood up embarrassedly and scowled at everyone watching.

Jayden was probably educated by his father and was unfazed by the situation. When Katie was staring up at him, he suddenly pressed his lips to hers in a quick and timid kiss. Most people looked away to give them privacy while James and Misty secretly high fived.

Gary went over to help Ash, reaching out a hand to him to pull him up. When he was on his feet, the spiky haired male wrapped his arm round his best friend.

"How does it feel that Jayden has more balls than you, let alone you had the same fate as many Christmases' ago?"

I couldn't help but laugh as everyone else burst into laughter. When my giggles died down, I smiled over at Jayden and Katie who were holding hands. Mistletoe had failed to get Ash and Misty together when they were ten but I was curious to see whether it had joined those two together. Who knows? All I knew was that we were all lucky to have each other this Christmas Time.

The End.
