Hello :P Sorry for not uploading last week. I was ill and really couldn't decide which one to upload so I just left it. Today I'm uploading because it's my TT's birthday and this is her present. I hope you like it, boo :'3
Ages:
Ash: 31
James: 5
Disclaimer: I own only James :3
"But daddy, what if I crash? What if I fall off? What if I go head first into a bush of stinging nettles or something even worse?"
Little James looked worriedly at his father from perched on the saddle of his new bicycle. The young boy had got a bike for his most recent birthday and had enjoyed riding it ever so much with his stabilizers. Now his parents felt it was time to take them off so James and Ash were having special bonding time while Ash taught him to ride his bike.
"James, none of those things will happen because I will be holding on to the back of your bike the whole time."
The chestnut haired little boy nodded unsurely, still looking at his father with worried green orbs that were shaking slightly with anxiety.
"Do you promise you won't let go?"
"I promise." Ash replied, his eyes looking so deeply and sincerely into his son's eyes that James finally nodded more confidently and turned his eyes onto the path ahead.
The raven haired male kept his hand on the back of the saddle while James put his feet on the peddles and narrowed his eyes in an unusually determined way.
One of my favourite things about being part of this family had to be just watching everyone growing and learning. Being a part of their growth and being there to lend a hand when needed was the most satisfying feeling in the world.
"Are you ready, buddy?" Ash looked at his son, tapping him lightly on the helmet that was fixed tightly to his head.
James begun nibbling his lip now it was time to actually ride, becoming hesitant all over again.
"I guess so."
Ash just returned his son's worried look with a reassuring smile, keeping his hand firmly on the back of his seat.
"I promise nothing will happen to you because I will be right here."
After persuading him to take his first peddles for a good few minutes, we finally managed to encourage him. Once he got started, his father's determination and his mother's love for cycling took over and he was off.
My heart couldn't help but thump with a mixture of anxiety for him but also pride as I ran along behind them. He was doing it, he was cycling down the road and nothing could possibly stop him.
As soon as I said that, Ash must have got distracted by a pokemon or the smell of food or something because he forgot to keep his hand on his son's saddle.
James did just fine cycling on his own until he realised his father was gone. It was then that he wobbled on the inside and the bike wobbled, causing him to crash.
We both rushed to his side as he laid in a heap on the ground his eyes pricking with tears.
"I'm so sorry, James, I don't know why I let go. I'm really sorry." The chocolate orbed male looked sadly at his crying son as he kissed his grazed knees better. "Do you want to call it a day and go back inside to mommy?"
Upon hearing this, James suddenly stopped whimpering and he shook his head, his fist pounding the air as a sign that he wasn't done just yet.
Ash ruffled his hair proudly and helped his son get back on his bike. I looked after the young boy while his father rushed inside and soon enough he was kitted out with elbow and knee pads as well as his helmet.
"There you go. I promise you won't fall again but if you do, these will make sure it doesn't hurt."
James nodded at his father gratefully and soon enough, he was back to cycling down the road with Ash's hand on the saddle.
I just sat and watched from where they both started, my eyes filling with joy watching the young boy gradually learning a new skill.
Ash turned and gave me a look. I blinked at first at his changed expression but then I knew what he was up to. Oh, Ash, don't. You'll regret it forever, I bet you.
The older male removed his hand from his son's saddle so carefully at he didn't even notice it was gone. Ash just smiled proudly, standing next to me and watching the chestnut haired little boy. You'll soon regret that, trust me.
Soon enough, James noticed that his father was gone. He peered around to look for him and somehow managed to turn the bike in a circle in the process. Now he was facing the other way, he could see his dad.
"Daddy, you promised you wouldn't let go! I understand you couldn't help it the first time but you did it on purpose this time!"
Little James was too busy ranting at his father to notice he was actually cycling on his own. Ash was about to enlighten his son of his achievements when he was glared at.
"You better come put your hand on my saddle! You owe me a hand on my saddle!"
Upon hearing these words, Ash and I glanced at each other with the same look on our faces. We were both experiencing a déjà vu.
I couldn't help but watch the scene with a smile on my face while Ash tried to convince James that he didn't need his help anymore. It was simply wonderful thinking that twenty one years ago, Misty had stormed up to Ash, holding a bike in her hands and demanding that he owes her a new one. Twenty one years later, Ash was teaching his son how to ride his own bike which somehow ended up in ending him owing something once again. That just proves that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
The End.
There you go! Thanks so much and I hope you enjoyed, especially you boo :'3 I also hope you have a great birthday because you deserve it :'B Thanks again and I will be back on the 28th to update Dear Daddy :P
