Hello :P It's Wednesday so I am back with a new chapter. I wrote this one quite a while ago and only just found it stored away on my computer. I headcanon that once their kids leave home, Jessie and James travel the world for a bit so I decided to write about James' goodbye to Katie :3 I hope you enjoy :P

Disclaimer: I own the story and the offspring of the characters :3

Everyone was gathered around Jessie, James and their private jet. When I say everyone, I mean everyone. Ash and Misty were there with their kids, as was Jessie and James' offspring. Even the offspring of the ex-rocketeer's had bought their offspring to say goodbye. Now that their youngest child had settled in their new house, it was finally time for Jessie and James to fulfil what had been their plan for years and years. They were off to travel the world so the goodbyes were long and hard.

I was perched on Ash's shoulder as Misty hung onto her best friend for the thousandth time and had an expression that showed she was trying not to feel something but couldn't help being sad.

James just laughed and kissed her forehead, trying to pry her off him.

"C'mon now Misty, didn't we have enough of that this morning when I said goodbye for the first time?"

Misty blushed slightly. She hated showing any kind of weakness and James knew this so he lifted her off his chest and pushed her into the arms of Ash instead. The way the purple haired man was looking at my best friend gave him an expression as if to tell him he'd better look after her while he was away.

Many more goodbyes soon followed as the pilot hinted he was ready to take off whenever they were ready.

Misty had her cheek rested on Ash's chest but I saw her eyes were looking in the direction of Katie. It was at that moment that I and all of us noticed she hadn't said a thing to either of her god parents.

"Katie, you don't want to say anything to Jessie or even James?" Ash spoke to his daughter, giving her a smile to show she didn't have to do anything she didn't want to. She may be nineteen years old but her parents still gave their children room to grow.

Katie cleared her throat and spoke but her aquamarine orbs were still fixed on the ground.

"Do you guys mind if Uncle James and I have a minute alone?"

Ash and Misty and all their family were confused but everyone else seemed to understand. Jessie and James' family moved back and stood up against the airport building wall.

Jessie smiled at her god daughter before pressing a kiss to her husband's cheek.

"I'll be waiting on there for you, okay?"

James didn't say anything so Jessie gave him a gentle squeeze on the shoulder. It wasn't until Ash had commandeered everyone back inside and told me to look after Katie that I realised how difficult this goodbye was going to be.

I gave Katie's cheek a lick of encouragement and sat on the plane steps patiently. James guided his god daughter over to where it was more private.

She didn't even look up when James had his hands placed firmly on her shoulders so he chose to spoke.

"I know I don't look like I did when I was younger but damn, I'm not that bad to look at."

He made a joke out of her lack of eye contact, trying to win her over.

The orange haired teenage girl just sighed, throwing her arms sadly around his neck.

"Oh Uncle James, you don't look any different than you did when I was born." She nuzzled into his neck, trying to distract him so he wouldn't hear the crack in her voice.

The lavender haired male smiled fondly at her but his green eyes were filled with sadness, not curiosity like they normally were.

"Flattery will get you everywhere." He laughed quietly into her ear, holding her as close to his chest as possible.

James and Katie had been inseparable since her birth. It pained even me to think of how torn apart they must have been feeling.

There was a few minutes silence before Katie sniffed, finally pulling away to look at her Uncle. Her unusual coloured orbs soon filled with tears when she saw that his were too.

"I'm going to miss you so much. What am I going to do? You've always been there for me since the day you were born."

Seeing one of his favourite people so under confident and unsure made James look even more heartbroken but he knew he was the older one and had to be strong. He wiped her tears for her, giving her an earnest smile.

"You're going to keep doing what you've always done because I want to hear about it when I phone you seven times a day."

James was joking to put a smile on her face but I knew they would probably phone one and other that many times.

"You're going be just fine without me. You have Jayden and of course your mom and dad and siblings. You're so strong, you don't need me."

Katie obviously couldn't stand her Uncle being so strong and making himself out to be so unimportant so she threw her arms around his neck once again.

"But I do need you. You've been everything to me since I was born. Not just an uncle but a friend too. My parents are of course like that to me too but me and you are different. We have such a bond I can't even describe."

It was James turn to look down and sniff his tears away this time. When he looked back at her, he had a flattered smile on his face that showed her he felt the same way about her.

After a few minutes more silence, Katie reached into the large shoulder bag that she was holding onto. James and I blinked. How had we not noticed that before?

The teenage girl reached out and pulled out a teddy that was so familiar to all of us.

"Mr Hugsy!" James smiled, reaching out to poke his black button nose. "What's he doing here? He should be back home with you."

Katie took a deep breath before holding him out to the older male.

"I want you to take him back. I know you gave him to me when I got attached to him as a baby but now I think its fair he goes back to you. He is yours after all. And besides, he'd love to travel the world. He'd definitely prefer it to sticking with me."

James put his head on one side and stroked his chin, a sign he was thinking carefully. Soon enough, he shook his head and make Mr Hugsy kiss her cheek, the way he'd done since she was a baby.

"Trust me when I say he's going to have a lot more adventures with you. He's going to stay with you and look after you while I'm away and watch you grow up even more. He's not going to miss and thing and neither am I because I will call you every day and be back before you know it."

Katie smiled and cuddled into her teddy. I could see that she was happy that she would have her favourite soft toy sticking around for good.

"Two months and then you'll be back for a little bit." She nodded slowly and bravely at the older man, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"Two months and you'll see me again and most likely be playing hairdressers with me. You may be nineteen but I still need you to help choose my next haircut."

Katie playfully fiddled with his hair and he gave her a grin and a kiss on her nose. I smiled at them both. Their antics had not changed since when Katie was a tiny little baby.

I jumped onto Katie's shoulder for courage as she waved goodbye to her Uncle for the last time.

"Goodbye, Uncle James. I love you."

"I love you too, Katie," he replied before giving her a warm smile. "But it isn't goodbye because I'll be back. Maybe we'll have to take a trip down memory lane and say goodnight. You always used to say that when you were little because you knew goodbye meant going away for good."

Katie blushed at the fact he knew everything about her but soon smiled once again.

"Goodnight Uncle James. Goodnight to you but not me."

I couldn't help but beam as Katie repeated the words she had said when saying goodbye for the past seventeen years of her life.

We waved "goodnight" until James got on the plane and long after we had gone inside the building and his plane was taking off.

I looked at Katie and nuzzled her cheek. This was an important lesson for Katie as now it was time for someone to temporarily leave her instead of her leaving them. James was going to continue loving and thinking about her no matter where in the world he travelled to. You don't stop loving someone because you can't see them every day. In fact, I think it makes you adore them even more.

The End.

There you go! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 I love writing about all the characters but James and Katie's relationship is one of my favourite. They both love each other a lot :'3 Thanks again and I will be back next Wednesday :P
