Hello :P Today is Wednesday so I am back with a new update. Once again, this goes along with the themes from PokeShipping week on Tumblr that happened at the beginning of the month and the theme for this chapter is "doing crazy things for love." I hope you enjoy, even if it's just a bit of a funny filler :3
Ages:
Ash: 18
Misty: 18
James: 25
Disclaimer: I own only the story :3
"Are you absolutely sure you don't need me to stick around? Because I am totally okay with cancelling my meeting to look after you, Mist."
I rolled my eyes fondly at my best friend as he asked the same thing but in a different way for the thousandth time that morning. His red headed girlfriend just responded with an exhausted sneeze so James spoke for her, giving Ash an irritated look.
"No, Ash. You looked after her yesterday so it's my job to do it today. That meeting is very important."
Ash just scowled as James checked Misty's temperature before handing her a cool glass of water. He simply hated not being needed.
"Exactly. I did it yesterday so I have more expertise." He retorted proudly, sticking his chest so far out that he almost did his back in.
James was unfazed by Ash's attempt in a clever remark and just sighed, looking over at the younger male despairingly.
"Oh so just one day looking after your girlfriend and you're suddenly a medical genius?" he pondered sarcastically to which Ash smugly nodded. "Yeah, I don't think so."
My raven haired best friend pouted once again but thankfully Misty finally stepped in, giving her boyfriend a smile.
"I appreciate you wanting to look after me, Ashy, but your meeting really is important. Your status means you can help and inspire so many people and I would want you to do that rather than just helping the one person. Me."
Upon hearing this, a blush streaked across the teenager's nose and he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
"I don't know; Mist…" he blushed somewhat giddily while James and I inwardly giggled at Misty's clear attempt of distracting Ash. "I am pretty important but still."
I noticed Misty give her best friend a secret look before she turned back to her boyfriend, giving him a sickening smile that Ash simply loved. It did help his confidence (or should I say ego?) all the more.
"Well I do. You're so important and that's why you should go for your meeting right this minute."
Ash's attitude suddenly changed and he beamed at his girlfriend before pressing a kiss to her slightly warm forehead. He gave James a poke of a goodbye and me a ruffle on the top of my head. Once he darted out the door, Misty groaned and hid further under the covers.
"Ugh, thank god. His whining and pouting was driving me absolutely crazy!"
James just smirked, proud that he had been chosen as the one to look after his best friend and perched on the bed next to her.
"I don't know if you're really good at acting or he just really is that dense."
Misty smirked back and took a sip of the water James had previously offered her before swallowing and talking.
"A bit of both, Jimmy, a bit of both."
I was about to jump on the bed and join in on their fond insulting when Ash bounded in the room once again. I'll give him some credit because he had at least put his shoes on ready for work.
Misty and James weren't so pleased to see him and both shot him the same look that made him have to fight for the right of his presence.
"I know you told me to go but just one more thing…" he gave a sheepish smile, stepping back over the line between their room and main room so he technically wasn't intruding on James' healing.
When Misty let out a quiet grunt, Ash took this as permission to continue.
"Do you want any food while I'm in the kitchen area?"
Before Misty could give him an answer either way, James let out yet another irritated sigh and leaned his head back on the headboard behind him.
"We don't want you to be in the kitchen area. We want you to be at the meeting."
The red haired female stifled a giggle at her best friend's words before sitting up once again to try and distract her boyfriend. That sickening smile took over her face once again.
"I would love some toast if you're offering it, Ashy."
Ash gave James a smug look before beaming at his girlfriend and giving her a thumbs up.
"You got it baby!" he did a little skip before heading back out of the room to follow through with her request.
When he left the room once again, Misty flopped back on the bed and James shook his head at her.
"Why are you getting him to cook for you? Do you want to end up even more sick?"
Misty just laughed, staring up at the ceiling and rubbing her warm forehead with her fingers.
"I know his cooking sucks but at least he's out of the way." She shrugged, curling back under the covers for the few moments of peace before Ash tried being her doctor once again.
James just nodded in half agreement and let me sit on his legs, beginning to stroke me with one of his hands. The pair were quiet for a few moments before the lavender haired male spoke once again.
"What if he sets the kitchen on fire? Then he may burn down the house and he may have to live at my house and I am not prepared for that kind of trauma."
Misty chewed her lip and glanced at me. I gave her the same look back. James had a point.
A few moments later, after Misty had made round and sparkly persuading orbs at her best friend, James went out into the kitchen to check on Ash. I was curious why I couldn't hear the sound of toast being made and went to peep round the corner.
"What the hell are you doing, child?" James held his hands up at the younger male to show just how confused he was.
Ash didn't seem fazed and continued mixing something in a saucepan. He just smiled at James and added a few tablets to the mixture. The teenager wasn't going to speak so that forced James to once more.
"You do realise that's not toast… Right…?"
Ash laughed over at James before rubbing his hands on his smart trousers. I came closer to take a peep at just what was cooking in that old pan. I did not want to know.
"Of course I know it's not toast, James, I ate that…" he trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck once again. "Misty's out of cold medicine so I'm making her some."
James turned back to look at me, his eyes growing more weary by each second he spent with my best friend. Ash noticed our looks but stayed wide eyed and innocent; as if what he was doing was perfectly normal. He shrugged, scratching the top of his head.
"Do you know where I can get some pseudoephedrine hydrochloride?" he struggled with the long words, doing his best to read from the bottle of cold syrup.
The green orbed male just groaned at the other male's childish behaviour and reached forward to snatch the bottle out of his hands and poured his homemade medicine down the sink.
"I don't know, Ash, probably the same lost void where my patience with you is." He let out a comical sigh and left both the pan and bottle in the sink. "Misty's going to sleep now so it really would help if you went to work."
Upon hearing these instructions, the raven haired male pouted and I saw his mind race with other excuses.
"Are you sure you don't need me to stay behind for anything?"
James just shook his head and patted Ash's own head in the way you would soothe a whiny toddler. I smirked as for some reason the action somewhat helped.
"The only way you should be here is if you caught Misty's illness yourself."
Ash met my eye and his chocolate orbs sparkled with sudden inspiration. He rubbed his forehead and bent over, making faint groaning noises.
"Actually I think I really did catch it. My tummy hurts and I think I'm going to puke."
James sighed for the thousandth time that day and tangled his hands in his lavender locks.
"You looked after her yesterday. You know she has a cold and not a stomach bug."
Ash suddenly stood up straight upon hearing this, folding his arms in a pouty way.
"Spoilsport." He muttered before suddenly being hit by yet another bucket load of inspiration. "That doesn't mean I can't start catching it now!"
The teenager suddenly beamed and let out an excited noise before rushing into where Misty was. The complaining from the teenage girl let James and I know exactly what he was up to.
"Ash stop kissing me! I am not in the mood right now!" her whines grew more muffled as I assumed Ash was clinging to her and getting as many smooches as possible. "They're my germs!"
James met my gaze and groaned before darting into where the teenagers were to try and pull them apart. I just laughed to myself and let him get on with it.
Ash had done a lot of stupid things to get attention and love from Misty and I think you won't be surprised to hear that this isn't the craziest. He had fallen out of trees, hid in rivers, almost set himself on fire with sparklers and drowned countless times trying to impress her. I know all of these things are crazy and I also knew at that moment that Ash wasn't going to stop doing these stupid things, even as he grew into fatherhood. Another thing I knew was that you do crazy things when you are in love and boy, Ash is crazy in love with Misty!
The End.
There you go, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 I think that's the first time I've ever had to google the ingredients of cough medicine for a story. Hopefully Ash doesn't seem too dense in this story and that he came across as sort of endearing :P He is so in love with Misty he will go to any lengths to show that to her, even if his actions seem stupid rather than clear at the time :3 Thanks again and I'll be back next Saturday on the 28th to update PS I Miss You :P
