The Seraphic System

Disclaimer: I don't own Highschool dxd

Chapter: 01

Warning: The gamer system will be a little different since I don't really just wanna copy it

(Second Chance)

I had always felt like a misfit in my family. Born into wealth and privilege, I was expected to be perfect in every way. But no matter how hard I tried, I could never measure up to my older siblings. They were smarter and had more talent and charm. And so, I was always the black sheep, the one who never quite fit in.

My only solace came from my friendship with my grandfather. He was a simple man, but he had a heart of gold. He saw something in me that no one else did, and for that, I was grateful. But little did I know at that time, that it would be my relationship with him that would ultimately lead to my downfall.

When he passed away, I was devastated. But that was only the beginning of the nightmare I called my life. It turned out that my grandfather had left me his entire fortune, and of course, my jealous and greedy siblings saw this as a threat. They were determined to get their hands on his money, and they saw me as the weakest link.

I was naive and foolish, trusting too easily and believing that my family had my best interests at heart. But in reality, they were manipulating me, using me to get what they wanted. And when I was left with nothing, they didn't hesitate to pay someone to take me out.

My life had been a long sequence of misfortune, pain and betrayal. And now, as I look back on it all, I realise that there was never any hope for me.

I hadn't been raised the way my older siblings had. While they were groomed to be cunning and smart. I was left to my own devices, and Grandpa had always told me to keep my innocence.

What a load of bullshit. Seriously I had thought his words held wisdom and that I was somehow special. But I wasn't. I was just a stupid and naive child who got used and disposed of like many others.

The betrayal had hurt me a lot. In fact, knowing that everyone who had apparently cared for me was just using me was heart-shattering.

I was so done with being the nice and caring guy towards everyone, not that it mattered since I was well dead and apparently hell or heaven didn't exist.

I had always thought that death would hold the answer to life's biggest mysteries. Was there really a heaven and hell? Would I be judged for my actions on Earth? But as I float in this endless void, I realise that the answer is none of the above.

There is no afterlife, no pearly gates or fiery pits. There is only this emptiness, this nothingness that stretches out in every direction. It's a fate worse than any punishment because there's no end to it. I'll float here for eternity, never experiencing the joys of life or the peace of death.

I had matured in my time here. I had gone over my life choices multiple times and came to conclusions which helped me grow. It was sad that this growth would never be used in any shape or form.

At least death came with clarity but with that grew a hatred that could not be contained.

My morals had definitely gone through a major change in my time in what I had deemed the abyss. I had not been able to harm a fly in my previous life but now.

I had thoughts of killing the bastards who put me in this situation, and it made me want to kill them in the most brutal ways I could think of.

I wish there was a way out of this place. With this new change in wisdom, I knew I could become something great. I felt it. I could surpass those bastards and take my place rightfully at the top. I knew I could. It only served to frustrate me more knowing that I would never gain another chance to achieve my potential to be at the top of the food chain.

I sighed, moving that aside, the worst part about this was the lack of anything to do like playing video games. I was kind of a hardcore gamer in my previous life with my whole family enjoying manipulating and betraying each other with their pathetic schemes.

I enjoyed playing all sorts of games and I was pretty good at them too. Going from playing every day of the week to nothing was definitely annoying, to say the least. I shook my head and sighed in disappointment.

I just wish I could have a second chance.

As I floated in the abyss, lost in my own thoughts, I suddenly saw something that made me freeze. A massive dark purple rift in space had formed out of nothing right in front of my eyes, and I couldn't look away. I was confused and worried, unsure of what was going on.

But before I could even begin to question what was happening, I was violently pulled through the dark swirling purple rift and ended up in a new space.

It was a place unlike anything I have ever seen before, with multiple stars and universes stretching out in every direction. It was beautiful, but the sight of it did nothing to calm my nerves.

I couldn't help but wonder what had happened to me, and why was I sent to this place. Was this the afterlife? A different dimension? Or something else entirely? The uncertainty was overwhelming, and I felt more lost than I was before.

What the hell was happening?

[START]

A giant purple box appeared out of thin air right in front of me and illuminated the surrounding area in a soft purple light. The words "START" were written on it in golden letters, and the box seemed to pulse and glow, almost as if it was alive.

I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I should touch it or not. But something in me urged me to take the chance and see what would happen.

With trembling hands and uncertain movements, I pressed the button labelled "START," and the box opened up, revealing a bright light that almost blinded me. I squinted my eyes, trying to make sense of what was happening, and that's when I saw a screen with a game interface.

[LOADING…]

Uhhhhhh. What the fuck is going on? I was pretty confused to be honest.

[DATA LOADED…]

Ok, that's great. Now can someone please explain why there is a purple box in front of me?

[Congratulations you have died!]

"Oh lucky me," I said with sarcasm heavily lacing my voice and a mock joyful pose.

[YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO BE THE NEW HOST OF THE SYSTEM!]

I was shocked. I had a sort of idea of what was happening but the idea was so outrageous I disregarded it. I mean I had only read about it when I had read FanFictions after running out of anime to watch. It was an interesting idea if not a little broken.

If it were any other of the family members, they would've laughed at such an idea, such a concept to exist to basically cheat their way into becoming powerful and wealthy was an outrageous concept. But I wasn't anything like my heartless family.

The logical side of me didn't believe it since something like that should be impossible right? A complete disregard of all reality and sense but then again I was currently floating in what seemed to be space surrounded by universes. Unless I had finally lost it? Ah well. Answers won't be solved by sitting around doing nothing.

Deciding to just go with it. I watched with interest as the purple screen once again shifted.

Skill added…

{Gamers mind} (Passive)

[Negates all mental attacks regardless of power difference and allows the user to focus in difficult situations.]

Skill added…

{Gamers Body} (Passive)

[Grants a body that allows for the user to live real life like a game, negates all curses and permanent damage.]

My eyes scanned over the description of the two new passive skills I had been gifted with a growing smirk. These two skills alone were quite powerful. Being able to negate all mental attacks sounded pretty awesome and living life a game even more so.

[Moving along from that time for race selection.]

[Your name has been pre-chosen, so we can skip that.]

[Please select a race.]

[Human] [?] [?] [?] [?]

My eyes widened in slight shock. I didn't expect to be able to change my race. That was a pleasant surprise, to say the least. While I had now confirmed what I was getting was the gamer system, I hadn't thought I would be able to be something other than human.

It kind of sucked that my name was pre-chosen but I wouldn't complain especially when I was getting The Gamer System.

That power lets the user gain an unlimited amount of potential and power. It was probably one of the most overpowered if not the most powerful out there.

I had a brief idea of what would happen if I selected the question marks but decided to ask to make sure. Wouldn't do good to fuck up just because I decided not to ask one simple question.

"Hey uh, system? What would happen if I selected one of the question marks instead of the human one?" I asked out loud.

[Selecting [?] would mean getting a random race. This can both have upsides and downsides. You could become something extremely weak and pathetic like a [Cockroach] or you could become something extremely powerful such as a [Dragon God]

I nodded my head in understanding. It was basically what I had suspected, but it was good to stay on the side of caution anyway. I debated on whether to risk it or not. Becoming something like a rat would be extremely unfortunate, but on the other hand, I could become something powerful.

A massive golden wheel popped into existence and began to spin. I saw multiple names go past. Such as Titan and God but also saw names such as slime and parrot go by.

I was slightly nervous as the spin started to slow down. It eventually stopped on a name with fireworks going on behind it as if to congratulate me.

I stared at the golden name floating in front of me with bemusement. It wasn't anything bad but it was rather ironic. Was the system joking around with me?

{RACE SELECTED}

{ANGEL}

"…"

"Are you fucking with me?"

[No.]

I sighed. It wasn't that it was bad in fact I would say it was pretty good considering some options would have sucked if I had gotten a shitty race but it was rather funny that I became an angel after basically promising to never be the same naive kind person I was. Which was basically what an angel was.

Of course, I wasn't the pinnacle of goodness but I held much love within me as Grandpa had said too and helped people when I could. That resulted in all the fortune I had inherited being stolen and killed by my so-called loving family.

"I'm definitely going to become a fallen angel" I muttered.

That was the problem since literally, no one likes fallen angels.

[Actually, you won't be able to fall. Since the falling of angels is considered a curse set by god, not only does it make them lose the ability to wield holy power at a masterful level like angels it actually also weakens them by 10% so since that's a curse Gamer's Body will negate.]

Huh, neat. Well, I guess that's pretty good then. Since I definitely wouldn't have lasted as an angel. Not anymore at least. Betrayal unfortunately tends to change people and in my case, I was pretty done taking shit and listening to my grandpa's shitty advice since seeing where it had gotten me.

[Ok, now that's done we move onto the Gamers wheel of fortune.]

"Wait, first of all, don't I get to customise my character or something and what's this Gamer's wheel of fortune about?"

[To answer your first question, no but fear not as a gamer we will be giving you a perfect body according to your desires. The women won't be able to keep their hands off you.]

"That's not what I-"

[Secondly, the wheel of fortune will give you one spin to obtain a unique power from the gamer system or a trump card so to speak. All skills in the wheel of fortune are what you would call "absolutely broken" ]

[For example, something like the Mad Doctor this power grants all of the contents listed below.

Perfect memory with infinite storage

Beyond genius-level intellect

Can make potions that can do almost anything, from immortality to regeneration or even cause someone to fall in love with a specific target.

Immunity to disease and poison mundane and magical

Immense knowledge of occult and alchemical lore that updates itself should you find a way to travel to different worlds.

Supernaturally skilled at medicine, can cure just about anything with some research, already knows how to tackle most ailments already.

Master of life and biology, able to create homunculi that are superior to regular versions of their species in all areas including being ageless and perfectly loyal to you.

Can conjure ingredients from thin air.]

"Holy shit" I blurted out completely forgetting about the character customisation. When the system had explained that I could obtain "absolutely broken" Powers I had expected something like time manipulation or something but this.

Being able to create potions that can do anything is basically an instant win skill. I mean couldn't you just make a potion to gain infinite power?

I felt excitement spread through my whole body but quickly calmed myself down and regained my composure. A new screen appeared with a wheel on it and golden words presenting the Wheel Of Fortune. A big red button with the word Spin appeared on it.

Not needing to be told what to do I raised my arm and pressed the button. There was a flash of red as the wheel started spinning.

I watched with nervous anticipation and excitement. This whole situation had been extremely weird but I guess I was getting that second chance I wanted but this time I would have the ability to actually gain my own powers. Finally, the spinning stopped on a skill and it popped up with a description.

{Unique Skill Gained}

{Download} (Passive)

[Allows the user to download a character from fiction or non-fiction and select one of their skills. Can only download one character per time. Time spent downloading characters will take time depending on their power level and potential.]

My eyes quickly scanned through the description with a grin slowly spreading across my face. While the name might not seem that impressive, being able to download characters and choose to obtain one of their skills was an insane ability. While it was annoying I could only gain one skill at a time it was still an invaluable skill to have at my disposal.

I'm guessing it would take a bit of time to download but considering my race was now that of an angel I assume I would be getting some sort of light manipulation so it wasn't like I would be defenceless while waiting for the download.

All in all, I was pretty happy with what I had gained. Since I had watched a lot of anime in my previous life it wasn't like I was going to run out of characters to download.

[Loading Status…]

{Name: Kai}

{Power level: 440}

{STR: 20

{DEX: 20

{VIT: 20

{MAG: 20

{CHA: 20

-STR, stands for 'Strength'. It shows you the amount of physical might you possess. The amount of STR you have can be increased through levelling up or through physical training physically.

-DEX stands for 'Dexterity'. It shows you how fast you can move and react.

-VIT, stands for 'Vitality'. It determines how fast you regenerate and how much damage you can take.

-MAG stands for 'Magic'. It determines the amount of total mana you have in your mana reserves and how fast you regenerate said mana.

-CHA, stands for 'Charisma'. It quantifies compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others and your overall looks, presence and how favourably you affect others. The amount of CHA you possess can be increased through levelling up and also through physical appearance and social interactions.

I scanned through all the new information provided to me by the system and frowned in slight confusion. I had multiple questions forming in my mind and decided to just go ahead and ask.

"Hey system, aren't I meant to have levels and stat points?" I asked questions with confusion laced deeply in my tone.

[To answer your first question this system does not run on levels or status points. You can earn points via training or quest rewards.]

I nodded in understanding and pondered for a few seconds as I absorbed this new information. Having no levels kind of sucked since I was ready to go on a murder rampage for easy levels but I wasn't too hung up about it since I could still train and I got awesome abilities anyways.

"I see and what about the power level display below it?"

[That's simply to measure your power with more accuracy. Your power level will rise by gaining more stat points and training. Skills can also raise your power level if mastered enough.]

I looked at the 'notification' and eventually nodded my head in understanding, it was pretty simple. I looked at my current power level. Yup, I definitely need to do a training montage.

Can I destroy a wall with a singular punch? Which is pretty insane to think about. It was most definitely something I planned to try out as soon as I could.

I took a second more to process all of this before nodding and gesturing for the system to continue. I was feeling a little impatient and wanted to move on already.

After being trapped in the abyss for so long I wanted to see the light of day again and while the view of multiple universes spiralling around me was breathtaking I actually wanted to be able to move again.

[OK, now onto the last part.]

"So now what?"

[Now onto the selection process. Which basically allows you to buy special power-ups along with special items and classes with a limited amount of points the system has gifted you.]

"Hold on a second, I forgot to ask earlier but what world am I even going to?"

I had been so excited at my second chance at life that I had forgotten to ask which world I would be actually going to. A mistake on my part after all it wouldn't do good to not know what to prepare for.

[You will be going to the world of High School DxD]

"Wait, you mean that world full of hot chicks and insanely overpowered characters?"

[Correct.]

I honestly didn't know whether to feel happy or horrified. Instead, I opted to focus on the task at hand.

[You shall be given 1000 points to spend on items or skills to buy from the systems shop before going to your new world. Choose carefully since you will not be getting this option again.]

Suddenly a wide selection of various abilities and items appeared in front of me. There was a long list ranging from powerful artefacts to companions.

Unfortunately, the companions would take up most of my credits so I decided to hold off on purchasing any of them even though it would be nice to have a loyal powerful companion to protect me, I didn't think it was worth all my credits.

After scrolling for a while and just generally looking around for any item or ability of interest I stopped on a katana that interested me greatly and clicked on it.

[Murasame] [Akame Ga Kill] [Legendary]

[Murasame is an extremely powerful cursed blade that can kill a person with a single cut. Once the sword pierces the skin, a poisonous curse will spread through the victim's body, killing them within seconds by stopping their heart.]

[Murasame's trump card is a performance enhancer titled Little War Horn that strengthens its user with the power of its poisonous curse. When the trump card is activated, the user's scleras turn black with black markings appearing around their pupils and a dark aura envelops their body. This technique will increase the user's strength significantly]

[Abilities: One-Cut kill, Little War Horn] [Passive effects: None]

[Warning: powerful creatures will be able to resist the curse however the more cuts you give them the more chance that the curse will overwhelm them and kill them]

[Cost: 500 credits]

My grin couldn't stretch any further even if I tried. This was fucking broken. Being able to kill with one cut? Sign me up. Of course, stronger beings could resist the curse but even then I just need to keep cutting them until it stacks enough to kill them.

Well of course it obviously wouldn't be that simple since I'll actually have to cut them and they are stronger. Even if I can't kill the stronger beings with the curse it was still a good ability to have.

I winced at the cost but pressed the big red button with the word "Purchase" on it since I was totally convinced this was worth it.

Watching the admittedly overpowered legendary item disappear into my inventory gave me a level of satisfaction I hadn't felt for a long time.

Moving on I continued to scroll down the screen and ignored most of the swords that popped up since I had already gotten a good one and found an ability that I instantly recognised and wanted.

[Mokuton] [Naruto] (LVL: 0/20) {Novice}

[Wood Release (Mokuton) is a nature transformation kekkei genkai, a combination of Earth and Water Release. It was famously used by Hashirama Senju, At its simplest, Wood Release allows the user to create wood, essentially converting their chakra into a source of life. At its greatest, mighty trees of various sizes and shapes can be created.

The Wood Release was also equally famous for its power to manipulate, suppress, and/or absorb a target's Energy]

[Abilities: Wood manipulation, Absorption, wood clones. Poison Release]

[Passive effects: Enhanced chakra, Natural Affinity towards Earth and Water]

[Cost: 200 credits]

I instantly wanted it but held myself back from purchasing it straight away. Now I could be patient and simply use download to gain this for free but who knows how long the wait would be.

As the description stated the more powerful the character the longer it would take to download and considering Hashirama was dubbed the God of Shinobi I would be willing to bet he was pretty powerful.

Now I had learned I was going to the world of dxd. I had to consider that I may not even be given the chance to download it before I'm attacked by some powerful being for god knows what.

I would be willing to bet that most if not all supernatural beings had some sort of sensing proficiency and since I have no sort of concealing ability yet, knowing the supernatural I'll probably be dragged into some shit. Maybe a devil trying to forcibly reincarnate me or a fallen angel hating my existence due to being an angel.

The thought of spending credits on a concealing ability sounded kind of stupid since I was willing to bet that I could probably do that on my own by controlling my own energy with practice.

I also just really wanted to be able to wield Mokuton since it was pretty powerful. Energy absorption alone is a good ability but with wood manipulation, it made it pretty formidable.

After some thought on the pros and cons. I decided that it would be a good ability to have and once more pressed the big purchase button. I watched as the ability display disappeared from the screen and my credits went down another 200 at the top right of the screen. I was left with 300 more credits to spend.

Deciding that now I had my weapon and a pretty powerful ability it was time to look into some perks, I went to the top of the store and pressed on the perks option instead of the random selections list I had been scrolling down. With a short flash a new screen filled with varied assorted perks appeared.

Going through various perks I kept swiping, things such as Perfect Metabolism that prevented me from gaining weight or enhanced endurance that made my skin tougher. Those were things I just didn't need. I eventually stumbled onto one that caught my interest.

[Allure] [Passive]

[Allure is a remarkable power that bestows upon its user an irresistible aura of extreme charisma and an otherworldly attractiveness. Those who possess this power possess an innate ability to captivate and charm others, drawing them in like moths to a flame.

The charisma granted by Allure is extraordinary, allowing the user to effortlessly persuade, influence, and manipulate others. Their words carry a weight of persuasiveness that is difficult to resist. also experience a physical transformation that sets them apart from ordinary individuals.

Their appearance becomes enhanced, with flawless skin, radiant eyes, and an ethereal beauty that seems to defy conventional standards. This enchanting allure has an almost hypnotic effect on others, drawing them in with an irresistible magnetism that is difficult

to resist.]

[Cost: 100 Credits]

I mean I didn't really have to think much about the benefit of having this perk. Having an otherworldly charisma in a world full of powerhouses was bound to be invaluable and the side effect of being hot as hell didn't hurt either. I purchased it and moved on.

[Prodigy] [Passive]

The Prodigy perk unlocks the true potential of the user's mind and body, When harnessed, Prodigy enables the user to rapidly absorb and assimilate knowledge and skills. Allowing them to learn things at an increased rate.

Physically, the Prodigy perk enhances the user's agility, reflexes and magical abilities, From combat techniques to athletic prowess, the user effortlessly adapts, quickly gaining proficiency in various physical activities and achieving feats that would typically require years of dedicated training.

[Cost: 200 Credits]

My credit count hit 0 as I purchased the Prodigy perk. The Prodigy perk was pretty invaluable since it would lessen the time required to learn new skills and help me gain power much faster. Before I could think any longer about my most recent purchase a golden light surrounded me.

"Uh- what's going on?"

[Entering the world of DXD…]

"Wait right now? isn't this a little sudden?"

I got no reply as the golden light brightened and in a flash, I was shot through space at unimaginable speeds.

-{Dimensional Gap Pov}-

Deep within the dimensional gap, Ophis, a powerful entity, fixed her gaze upon a colossal red dragon. Hatred seethed within her as she readied herself for yet another intense battle, marking their hundredth confrontation.

However, a sudden surge of overwhelming power shattered the tension of the moment, causing her eyes to widen in slight surprise.

Before Ophis could react, an immense beam of radiant golden light streaked past her with breathtaking speed. The intensity of the light blurred her vision momentarily, as if time itself struggled to keep pace. The awe-inspiring display left her momentarily frozen, unable to comprehend the magnitude of the event unfolding before her.

As the golden beam vanished into the distance, a rift materialised directly in its wake. Ophis observed the enigmatic portal, its ethereal energy pulsating with an air of mysterious purpose. Her curiosity mingled with lingering surprise as she contemplated the implications of this unexpected turn of events. She idly noticed that Great Red was also watching the beam with a rare expression of caution.

She didn't know what it was or who it was. But whatever it was had enough power to make the giant red dragon cautious. With the khaos brigade failing her at every chance, it was about time she found herself another solution to her problem.

She made a resolution to find this strange being and get it to help her kill the great red.

-{Familiar Forest Pov}-

As the world stood witness, a colossal rift materialised in the expansive sky, tearing through the fabric of reality. From within the rift, a blinding beam of luminous light burst forth, descending upon the earth with unstoppable force.

The ground quaked violently as the beam collided with the surface, unleashing a tremendous explosion that reverberated through the air. The shockwave rippled outward, shaking everything in its path like a minuscule earthquake. Dust and debris filled the air, obscuring the aftermath of the cataclysmic event.

When the dust settled, a vast crater stood as a testament to the tremendous impact. Nestled in the centre of the crater lay a young boy, his form battered and sprawled amidst the remnants of the blast.

Two magnificent golden appendages, resembling wings, extended from both sides, glimmering with an otherworldly radiance.

The young boy's eyes opened.
