Hello :P It is Wednesday so I am back with a new update. Me and my TT have been talking a lot about Ash and Misty and proposals and stuff recently so I decided it was time to upload this one. I wrote it about a month ago after a really small scene that happened in Hollyoaks and me and Shay thought it would happen to Ash, James and Gary. I hope you enjoy :3
Ages:
Ash: 25
James: 32
Gary: 26
Disclaimer: I own only the story :3
From my position on the window sill basking in the warm, Kanto sun, I watched Ash go down on one knee and look straight up at the person opposite me.
"Mist, will you marry me?"
James, who was standing opposite Ash with his arms folded, moved his hand away to run it through his hair, pulling a face.
"Try again, that's so impersonal."
Ash furrowed his brow and sighed loudly before standing up on both legs. After he glanced at me, he looked back into James' eyes and went back down on one knee, this time making his voice deeper.
"Mist, will you marry me?"
I couldn't help but let out my own giggles as Ash seemed thrilled with the outcome while James looked at me in an exasperated fashion. The raven haired male scowled at our reactions before standing back up to his full height.
"C'mon, what's wrong with that?" he folded his own arms and pouted, the box and ring still in his hand.
James sighed and leaned against the doorframe, flicking his strand out of his eyes with a gesture of his head.
"I said it's impersonal and you made your voice deeper. Sometimes I wonder what you are on."
Ash narrowed his eyes at James before sticking his nose in the air and glancing at me. I stopped giggling and gave my best friend a small smile. Don't give up, you can make this perfect.
Once I had snapped Ash out of his sour expression, he smiled gratefully before looking at the older male and ready to listen intently.
"What's wrong with what I did?" he repeated, his tone now ready to improve rather than bitter at our reactions.
James shook his head somewhat fondly at Ash before running another hand through his hair.
"You sound like you've had a cigar." He smirked teasingly before standing up straight and giving some advice. "Anyone can say will you marry me. It has to be personal to you."
Ash nodded and thought for a moment, his brown eyes going distant as he thought of ways he could translate his feeling of hope and excitement into the perfect words. I smiled fondly as I watched him. When he was ten, he gave his all to myself and his other Pokémon. Now, fifteen years later, he gives his all to the very person who stole his heart. And that of course is our very dear Misty.
Ash cleared his throat before glancing up at James, carefully lowering himself onto one knee.
"Will you do the honour of marrying me, Mist?"
When Ash looked up at the older man with hope, I hopped from the window sill and onto James' shoulder. He didn't have the heart this time to burst Ash's bubble. The lavender haired man just glanced at me and I glanced back.
Ash sighed quietly and nodded his head, standing back up.
"Did that suck too?"
James quickly shook his head, briefly reaching out to pat Ash's shoulder. I smiled at both the two boys' my heart still filled with optimism.
"No, it didn't suck. I just think that sentence didn't string too well together. Try again and try and make it personal and something she'd really adore."
Yeah, and something she can't say no to.
After I added my own input, Ash's smile returned and he nodded before going back down on one knee. He opened his mouth before closing it again; thinking what would be perfect to say.
James leaned against the door frame once more, waiting for Ash to settle on some words. Ash shut his eyes briefly before opening them again, looking up at James with sparkling eyes.
"I have so many ideas for our wedding night so please let me marry you?"
I let out some stifled giggles about hearing this while James' mouth fell open. When it shut again, he shook his head and his brow furrowed in distaste.
"I can't even tell if you're joking or not."
When Ash burst out laughing and cackled at his own joke so much he almost fell over, James continued shaking his head and rubbed his forehead.
"You're not doing anything creepy to my best friend on your wedding night."
I shook my head fondly as Ash's giggles died down and he just squinted somewhat smugly up at the older male.
"I don't really think you get a say in it."
After James did a rude gesture with his finger to Ash in a half joking and half protective way and Ash recovered from it, he went back down on one knee. He swallowed before looking back up at James.
"You have made me so happy for so many years. There is no one else I would rather spend my life with. So Misty, will you marry me?"
Both James and I couldn't help but nod at one another before giving each other a smile. Once this action was exchanged, we turned back to look at Ash. Surprisingly, his brow was furrowed and he stood back up on his legs.
"Now I didn't like that."
James raised quite the shocked eyebrow but I just nodded understandingly and smiled at my best friend. I was confident he would get there in the end.
The lavender haired male looked at Ash, his green eyes filled with curiosity. I simply loved how those two were completely opposite and had such different ideas and opinions but were important (whether they admitted it or not) in one and other's lives.
Ash saw James' look and gave him a small, unsatisfied smile.
"I don't know. It just feels like something that I have written and said before. I want it to be perfect."
James nodded understandingly and I jumped from his shoulder to my best friends and I nuzzled him encouragingly.
"It will be." When Ash grew slightly shocked at James' words, he just smiled at him and played with his strand. "You and Misty have been through so much and have still loved each other every step of the way. Maybe that kind of love is so powerful and wonderful that it just speaks for itself and no words or string of sentences will show how much it means to propose to her."
These words caused both Ash and I to break out in a beam. I hopped back onto the window will before watching Ash's eyes grew excited with inspiration and James looked shocked by his reaction. That's one thing I loved about James. He always spoke his heart and mind and sometimes the words could be so perfect and wonderful. The best part about it is he never even knew how touching his thoughts were.
Ash continued beaming and bit his lip to try and contain it. As his eyes sparkled with love, he went down on one knee and he looked up at James.
"My life has been an adventure ever since the day I met you. Our new journey is next. Will you marry me?"
My eyes filled with love at the perfect words and I was about to say something when Gary came strolling in, smirking. Teasingly, he wrapped an arm around James' neck.
"Do you two want me to leave you alone together?"
Upon hearing this, Ash stuck his tongue out in disgust while James just rolled his eyes, shoving Gary away playfully.
"Ew no." Ash pulled a face, holding onto the ring box specifically for Misty in a protective way.
James smirked at the younger male's reaction before using Gary's hair as an arm rest, even though he was taller than him.
"Ash is practicing for you know what."
Gary shoved James' arm away before smiling at Ash, nodding in realisation when he saw the ring box in Ash's hand. Everyone in our group knew that he was planning on popping the question and let me tell you, it was very difficult keeping it quiet in such a large group. And especially when the group happened to be ours.
James leaned back up against the wall, running a hand through his hair.
"I think Ash said the perfect thing before you came in. Why don't you practice it again?"
The auburn haired male smiled, curious to watch his childhood friend practice proposing to his future wife as he leaned against the opposite wall to James. He soon smirked, rubbing his finger on his front spike.
"Maybe you should include her name in it so as not to cause any confusion." He laughed out loud at his own joke, referring to when it looked like he was proposing to James.
Ash stuck his tongue out before picturing his beautiful Mist and smiling lovingly, going down on one knee.
"My life has been an adventure ever since the day I met you. Our new journey is next. Mist, will you marry me?"
Once Ash repeated these words once again and mentioned her name, all three of us beamed and glanced at each other before back at Ash. James nodded his head approvingly while Gary gave him a thumbs up.
Ash beamed, standing back up onto his feet and putting the ring away for safe keeping. When he returned, he was still smiling.
"Thanks for helping me out guys." He thanked them gratefully before turning to smirk at James when Gary patted his back. "I bet you can't wait to have me as your son in law.
Upon hearing this, James wrinkled his nose and looked back at Ash.
"Uh you're never going to be. I'm not Misty's dad, am I?"
When Ash stuck his bottom lip out in embarrassed realisation, Gary smirked and stuck his nose teasingly in the air.
"You sure are as protective as a dad though, James."
When James just let out a grunt of not agreement nor disagreement, Gary turned to narrow his eyes competitively at Ash.
"Besides, he's my father in law, not yours."
I shook my head fondly while Ash stood on his tiptoes to narrow his eyes in a childlike competitive way. Meanwhile, James stood between them, his arms folded and looking bemused.
"Actually neither of you are. Ash never will be and Gary hasn't popped the question to my girl yet."
When Ash looked smug and tilted his head one sided to indicate he thought he was winning the competition, Gary wrapped his arm back around James' neck.
"Yes well I will be when the time is right. So it looks like James is my family, sucker."
My mouth twitched into a smirk as I watched Ash and Gary pretend to fight over James. Even if it was a joke, fifteen years ago I never would have even dreamed this would be happening.
When James finally joined in to tease Ash, he glanced at Gary and nodded, patting his chest in a fatherly way.
"You got that right, we're family."
I smirked even more fondly as Ash showed one of his classic traits; hating being left out of anything.
Ash whined, trying to break in between them to join in the guy hug.
"That's not fair. I want to be James' thing too."
Before James or Gary or I could add our input, Misty came in, raising a questioning eyebrow at us all and smirking curiously.
"What do you want to be, Ash?"
Ash knew if he told the truth, Misty would side with the two other guys simply to tease him. So he did what he did best and said something that would flatter Misty while making James heave.
He smiled sweetly at his wife before wrapping his arm around her waist and puckering at her.
"I want to be your everything."
Right on cue, Gary raised an eyebrow at this bold faced cover up while James nostrils flared in a mix of disgust and protectiveness.
Misty's face broke out into a beam and she quickly pressed a kiss to his lips.
"You already are, Ashy."
And with that, the in love and soon to be engaged couple headed off to privately shower one and other in affection.
Ash's words may have been a cover up to avoid spoiling his plans as well as revenge on James but they were true. It's funny how someone you can meet so randomly can become your everything. Ash and Misty met at a lake but I believe it was by fate. Their meeting turned to friendship which turned to love which still remains. When you fall so hard for someone, it's hard to remember what life was like before them. Ash and Misty have been a huge part of my life and I am so thankful to have watched them every step of the way. They mean the world to one and other and they both mean the world to me. Their love and friendship has bought me adventures, lessons, experiences and blessings beyond belief. I would go on supporting them long beyond my time on earth. They were worthy. They deserved exactly that. Nothing more and nothing less.
The End.
There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 I love writing the different guys dynamics and personalities and how Ash will do anything to make everything perfect for his Misty. He will work so hard that even sometimes Gary thinks he's proposing to James :P Thanks again for reading and I will be back on the 28th for the final chapter of PS: I Miss You. See you then!
