Hello :P It is Wednesday and I am back with a new chapter. This chapter and quite a few for the next few months, focuses on Misty's parents. In particular, her father, Jordan. Some of the chapters are about her dad and some about her mom but this one is about Misty and her dad. I got the idea from a book called "Love, Aubrey" that I had taken off the bookshelf at work and would read while my mum cashed up. She too had a recipe in her head that was her fathers. Seeing how much I adore Jordan, of course it inspired this :P I hope you enjoy!

Ages:

Misty: 24

Ben: 4

Katie: 4

Jordan: 32

Disclaimer: I own Ben, Katie and Jordan with AAML-TAML :3

"C'mon Pikachu, let's bake." Misty suddenly said to me, sitting up from her position on the sofa and reading her magazine. As she began to stand up and rubbed her hands together, I couldn't help but blink at her.

It was not unusual that she wanted to do something with me. Far from it, in fact; we always spent time together doing activities, especially when Ash was busy training his other Pokémon. It was the choice of activity that was causing me to blink.

Misty raised a slight eyebrow upon my hesitance and her hands moved to rest on her hips. I gave her a sheepish smile before looking away. She tried so hard but the truth was she still wasn't the best chef. She tried so hard and Delia had been teaching her for some years now but it just didn't come naturally to her. She was better than, Ash, but that wasn't hard. But it wasn't always edible.

Misty flushed mildly upon realisation what my hesitation and expression was hinting and she folded her arms stubbornly, narrowing her eyes at me semi seriously.

"You wiped that look off your face, Pikachu. I'm not that bad and you know it."

I gave her another sheepish smile and shrugged to myself. She narrowed her eyes less jokingly and pouted slightly when my eyes said you're not that good either.

She shook her head with mild hurt before shrugging herself but in an entirely different way than I had. She gave me a confident smile before rubbing her hands together again. After she did that, she shrugged again.

"I'll show you." Was all she muttered and she gave me a competitive smirk as I hopped onto her shoulder and gave her a playful nuzzle as she did so. I'm sure she would show me. I was still fairly confident in myself that the food wouldn't taste the best but she was confident in herself and that made me confident it wouldn't give me stomach ache. She shows me every day. She shows me that she's a strong, smart, independent and lovely person.

As Misty headed over to the kitchen cupboard after washing her hands and began searching for ingredients, I tilted my head on one side curiously from her shoulder.

She glanced at me briefly from rummaging through the various baking packets and gave me a small smile before looking back to where her hands were reaching. I didn't need to open my mouth. I just looked at her and she answered my queries.

"I'm not really sure what I want to bake or why. I just suddenly had this recipe in my head and I know I need to give it a go."

And with that, she gave me another smile and a confident nod of her head, leaving me to sit on her shoulder and ponder. I wonder what made her have a recipe in her head? I didn't know. But I did know that I loved spending time with her and if baking was what she wanted to do, baking was what we were going to do.

I watched from Misty's shoulder as she pulled out basic cupcake ingredients from the cupboard and lined them up in size order before glancing over to the door of the twin's bedroom where they were taking a nap after their morning at preschool. She was copying exactly what Katie would have usually done if they were baking together. Old habits are hard to break.

I smiled too upon seeing this and watched as the orange haired female studied each and every one of the packets. I noticed her orbs suddenly fill with hesitation and she put her finger to her chin before back on her hip, thinking to herself.

"There's something missing." She mumbled to me or perhaps herself before shutting her eyes and thinking hard. I tilted my head curiously at her and watched her. She looked so peaceful and pretty. I don't know why but I imagined she was thinking of the ocean or something. She always looked content when she thought about the sea.

I snapped out of my thoughts of my very dear friend and saw her eyes had opened again and they were filled with slight tears. I believe she didn't know why so she swallowed them and gave me a smile.

"We need icing sugar to make proper icing. Blue. We need to make blue icing."

I blinked for just a moment, thinking her words were quite specific but I soon nodded my head. I climbed onto her head and began rummaging through the cupboard. After digging around for quite a few minutes, all I could find was a sea green coloured bottle.

Misty took it off me and held me back onto her shoulder, sighing quietly and pondering aloud to herself as she studied the bottle.

"It's not really what I'm after but it is kind of ocean green coloured so I think it will do. Thanks, Pikachu."

She gave me a smile and another nod of her head and left me to sit on the counter top and think about the last words she spoke before she cracked on with baking her mysterious cupcakes. She had mentioned the ocean too. I knew when she shut her eyes, she was thinking of the sea. I know her too well and I know how connected she feels to water. I believe it ran in her family. I kept quiet and continued thinking to myself as I watched Misty crack on with the baking all by herself.

I always have felt very connected to Misty but for some reason that day and as she was adding her cupcake mixture into the tins, I felt it even more so than ever. She was a lovely person. So strong and talented and thoughtful. Thoughtful. Yeah, thoughtful. She was thinking a lot that day and I could tell it by her expression. She had something in her mind and she was following. And I so wanted to be a part of it.

My thoughts wandered all over the place and finally came back to reality when the cupcakes were over halfway cooked. Misty must have been talking to me the entire time but some words in particular finally snapped me out of it. That was strange because they were pretty ordinary words.

"The icing needs to taste like something other than just icing. There needs to be more to it than that."

I shrugged and I looked at her curiously, waiting for her to ponder a bit more and explain to me what she meant. After a few minutes, she did exactly that.

"I don't know." She mumbled almost shyly, almost bashfully, her hand going back to her chin as she looked at the ceiling. "It needs to taste like the sea. Cool and fresh and- Mint! Yes that's it; the icing needs to taste like mint!"

I couldn't help but smile fondly as I had never see someone get so excited over mint. My heart swelled with love as she excitedly rushed over to the cupboard, hoping to find what she needed. I didn't dare tell her because I knew she'd get embarrassed and deny it but it was the cutest thing in the world seeing her bound around the kitchen searching for mint.

She happy look on her face was priceless as she found the mint extract she was looking for and for some reason she held the bottle to her chest. She soon shook her head at herself when she saw me looking but I barely noticed it. I always thought she was awesome.

As Misty hummed quietly to herself and began making the special mint icing all by herself, my thoughts couldn't help but wander once again. I couldn't put into words how proud I was of her and how much I cared for her, even just on an ordinary day when we were cooking together. Some people believe the only worthwhile love is romantic and that's just nonsense. My whole life is filled up with all different kinds of love for all different kinds of people and because of them; I've never felt empty for a single moment.

I was smiling to myself and I came back to reality to see Misty was looking at me in desperate exasperation, her hands almost tangling in her hair with stress. My heart began to pick up at the thought that something must have been terribly wrong but then I then realised she had said something to me while I was deep in thought. I pulled a face and looked at her, waiting for her to repeat.

She let out an annoyed sigh, at herself, I think and not me before spinning around to face the oven again, crouching down and opening it again like she must have done when I was busy thinking of my pride of her.

She wailed almost miserably, getting a bit of flour in her hair as she tugged on her bangs in frustration.

"Oh, Pikachu, they're all burnt!" she groaned, gesturing frantically for me to come over and have a peek in the oven so I did. To my (not so much surprise), I could see they were pretty much as black as the midnight sky. I didn't say anything and just patted her back sadly.

She sniffed even more at this action, realising herself that I wasn't really surprised that she had burned them. The orange haired female sniffed again and stood back up with me clinging to her leg for support, shaking her head at herself.

"I think I accidentally brushed against the heat knob when I was reaching for the mint extract and turned it up way too much." She breathed out in disappointment in herself before picking the oven gloves off the kitchen counter and using them to lift the cupcakes out of the oven.

She deflated even more when she saw how badly burned they really were. She sniffed for a third time and almost didn't dare look at them, carrying them over to the bin and dumping them in.

I gave her a smile to show her that she could try again but she wasn't even looking at me as she threw the hot tin into the sink. I blinked and furrowed my brow worriedly at her. I know she had really wanted to bake with me and she was really confident they were going to go right but it wasn't the end of the world. But she was acting like it was. She was a somewhat dramatic person but her actions then made me think there was something deeper going on.

She sighed wearily and saw the door to the twin's room was still shut and flung her apron onto the floor before rubbing her forehead, getting an idea. After sighing a second time and in a more annoyed way, she picked me up off the ground and held onto me close, nuzzling me for comfort.

"C'mon cutie, let's forget about that and go take a nap."

I couldn't help but giggle inwardly as her choice of words made her sound like a tired toddler or a grumpy teenager but I didn't hesitate to agree. If having a snooze cleared her mind and made her feel better, that's what we would do together. Besides, I really enjoyed the closeness and had been kept up by Ash's legs sprawling about anyway.

Misty sighed quietly as she flopped onto her back on the sofa and held me close to her chest. She shut her eyes and ran her fingers through my fur. It wasn't long before we both headed off to dreamland together. The next thing I was aware of was I had reached the land of dream. After that I was aware my eyelids were flickering. After that I was aware of Misty twitching in herself. Then I was aware of the vivid dream vanishing and heading through a tunnel of white back to the real world.

I sat bolt upright and came back to reality when Misty sat up quickly herself and looked around the room in a sleepy and confused way. I rubbed my eyes before looking around myself. There was nothing unusual in the living room area of the flat. The orange haired female was about to shrug and head back to her nap with me when suddenly a scent filled both of our nostrils.

We both sat further up together and held onto one another. After our orbs met one and other's in confusion, we took a deep breath and inhaled the scent into our nostrils. It smelled good. It smelled so good. Like baking. The scent was cupcakes baking.

I blinked and tilted my head on one side. Misty blinked and rubbed her forehead in confusion, mumbling to her and me as she swung her legs over the edge of the sofa to stand up.

"Why does it smell like baking and cupcakes? I burned them badly?"

She furrowed her brow and allowed me to step up onto her shoulder and she looked at me with bigger and more confused eyes as we could hear someone was in the corner and hidden bit of their kitchen.

Misty tilted her own head at me and was about to ask me if I thought it was Ash back from work but I was quick to give her a funny look, tilting my head again and this time in a comical way.

C'mon, Misty, you know he cooks even worse than you.

The orange haired female pushed past her confusion for a moment and narrowed her eyes playfully at my words before sticking her tongue out at me. I was about to stick my own tongue back out at her when we both blinked and even looked slightly scared when we heard humming from the kitchen.

"There's definitely someone here and it can't be the twins, the door to their room is still shut." She whispered slightly loudly to me, her eyes widening with fear and voice getting higher.

Upon hearing the mention of a potential intruder, I nodded my head and narrowed my eyes, my stance changing and getting ready to defend my Misty.

Misty breathed out gratefully before nodding her head. She was happy for me to protect her but both of us knew she could hold her own as well. She narrowed her eyes and walked around the corner of the kitchen. Both she and I were expecting her eyes to widen further with fear or narrow more in determination. Neither of those things happened.

Her orbs did widen but they began to shake slightly and fill with tears as she laid her eyes upon who had their back to us. Her hand shakily went to her mouth and she took a slight step back.

"N-No… No it can't be."

Upon hearing these words, the tall, blonde male turned around and upon seeing Misty, he automatically showed off a soft smile, his eyes filling with tears. He didn't say anything but he just smiled at her, looking at his daughter.

I could feel Misty's legs shaking from her shoulder and she let out another gasp of shock but soon enough she didn't hesitate to run into her father's arms. As they embraced, his own eyes filled with more tears and he hugged her tighter than I had ever seen before.

Misty sniffed deeply to try and fight back her tears, clinging onto her father's t shirt like she was a little girl again.

"H-How…?" she breathed out, clutching onto him with a shaky hand and looking right at him, not caring this time that he was seeing her crying. "How are you here? You just visited… H-How are you here?"

Jordan smiled tearfully at her and wiped her tears for her before standing them both up to their full height. He smiled lovingly and proudly at his youngest daughter as he spoke to her.

"Well we got the chance to come back again and of course we took it. Are you kidding me? Like I'd ever pass the opportunity to see my girl."

Misty's eyes positively beamed upon hearing this before she realised what he said and she rested her hand on the counter to support herself as she began to tremble with shock again.

"W-We?" she repeated, her hands filling with more happy tears before breathing out and trying to sniff them back. "You mean mom's here too? You're not alone?"

Jordan just smiled at Misty and gave me an almost shy wave as a hello before smiling even more when his eyes went back to his daughter, leaning his own hand against the counter.

"No, I'm not alone. Your mom – she's here too. She ran into James after we picked up more ingredients so she's there catching up with him." He smirked fondly and brushed his hair upon his eyes before noticing his daughter's expression.

I smiled tearfully myself as I watched her put everything she had felt and done that day together. The recipe in her head was her father's. It reminded her of him and how they lived near the water before all the tragedies happened. We woke up and we smelled cooking. It was his cooking. He was making them properly for her.

Misty's eyes streamed with tears but she didn't bother to wipe them. Instead she just smiled over at her lovely father, sniffing quietly.

"The recipe is yours? It's you who always made me those special blue iced mint cupcakes?"

Jordan nodded his head and glanced briefly to the timer on the wall before nodding and smiling even more when he saw his daughter's face again. She really was his moral compass.

"It sure is." He smiled almost shyly before playing with his hair and giving her a playful smirk. "You didn't do them as good as me though from what I found in the bin. And you missed the sugar seashells I always used to stick on the icing for you."

Misty decided to ignore her father's playful dig and just focused on the second part of his words, her eyes filling with fresh tears and she clasped her hands to her chest as she remembered.

"Of course, I knew there was something missing. I couldn't do it without you."

Misty's words were light-hearted but I knew they couldn't do a lot without each other. They both had a very special and deep bond because they both loved and felt things very deeply. You would think the way Jordan left the earth would put a strain on he and Misty's relationship but I really felt as though it was completely the opposite. It had made them both stronger and wiser, individually and together. They were both wonderful human beings and deserved every single bit of happiness in the world. I knew that Misty was one of the people who made Jordan see the light, even in the darkest of days. She was his compass but she was also his lighthouse.

They were both about to open their mouths and exchange more words to each other when suddenly the timer went off, filling the room with noise. Jordan was quick to shut it off and turned to smile at Misty, his almost shy disposition returning.

"Are you ready to eat?" he smiled at her, clasping his own hands together and looking at her sheepishly.

Misty tilted her head playfully at him upon hearing this, giving him a poke in the arm.

"I know the recipe and the cupcakes well now. I know they're not ready to eat, they need the icing and seashells first."

Jordan pretended to open his mouth playfully before flicking her nose gently, reaching behind him on the counter and picking up a plate of all ready frosted and decorated cupcakes.

"Who said it was the first batch that woke you and Pikachu from your slumber?"

Misty gasped for real upon seeing this and she looked over at her father, clearly impressed at how much he had done while we were asleep. I looked at the plate and was desperate to eat them but I decided to sit at the table and let those two have a moment first.

Instead of making fun of his daughter's shock, Jordan smiled at her and picked one of the cupcakes off the plate and unwrapped it for her before handing it to her. He wrapped his arm around her as she accepted it and bought it close to her mouth.

"Taste it." He smiled, brushing his hair out of his eyes before looking at her hopefully, wanting them to be exactly how she remembered and for them to bring her back to the days before life removed all innocence for her. "How does it taste?"

Jordan asked this before she could even have a bite of it but she didn't correct him, beaming at him before taking a huge bite. She didn't react the way she did the second time when she had the first bite. She pushed her bangs from her eyes and as she shook the second bite, her eyes filled with tears but her face filled with serenity.

As she took a third bite and swallowed that, she headed straight for Jordan's chest and allowed him to hug her close as she tasted the cupcake and let the sweet memories fill her head and heart.

She pressed her cheek to his chest and shut her eyes as she mumbled softly, listening to his heartbeat as she filled with emotion.

"Home." She whispered emotionally but contentedly. "Dad, it tastes like home."

The End.

There you go! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 Not gonna lie, I think I teared up just a little bit writing the last few sentences. I adore Jordan so much, especially seeing as he is the result of the creativity that me and Shannon share. He's probably one of our most thought out and dear to us OC's. I love writing about him aside from his depression. He's a sweetheart and like it suggests here, he used to bake for Misty and probably even more so to distract them both after they lost their wife/mother. I really look forward to writing into the Williams' family more and uploading the bunch of stories I have been writing since summer :3 Thanks again and I will be back on Wednesday so see you then!
