Hello :P It is Wednesday and I am back with a new update. This introduces a few more characters. It is the introduction of mainly Jonah and his relationship with James, Misty, James' father Charlie, James' mother Johanna and his partner Georgina. He was introduced by name in the previous chapter but here he is for real. He's a little more confident in this one because it's set the summer before the Rey saga, rather than how he would be when he first met James four years before. His new found assertiveness definitely comes from his friendship with Misty. I hope you enjoy!
Ages:
James: 37
Lynne: 30
Josie: 85
Noah: 84
Georgina: 57
Jonah: 65
Charlie: 65
Johanna: 65

James chuckled as we walked up the path towards his Grandparents house, his arm innocently linked to Lynne's as he viewed the text on his phone in his other hand. His laughter caused me to nuzzle the red head before looking over at him with intrigue. When Lynne had the same curious look in her ocean blue orbs, he explained.
"I just got a text from Misty." He began with a smirk, multitasking by replying to her text with his thumb as he told us all about it. He continued. "She asked if Jonah will be here for the thirtieth time and reminded me to tell him 'hi'."
Both Lynne and I soon shared James' chuckles when we heard this and while I rested my cheek against hers, the red haired female shook her head fondly. She moved closer to her daughter's best friend with their arms still linked.
"I wonder why she has such a soft spot for him." She pondered aloud with a curious look on her face before shrugging airily. "He is so lovely. But you'd think her type is raven haired and tanned."
I softened at the mention of my best friend and those two as a couple before feeling even more proud. There was once upon a time when Ash and Misty were ten years old and got so jealous with each other. They had always been like an old married couple and they still got jealous from time to time but it had clearly eased. Misty openly had a soft spot for James' Uncle, Jonah, and Ash didn't mind. In fact, I believe, Ash had equally the same fondness for him. Anyone who cared so deeply for their mother like Jonah did was certainly a friend to Ash.
James wrinkled his nose playfully at Lynne appearing to not know why Misty had a soft spot for his Uncle and briefly unhooked their arms to poke her before linking back with her again as they got to the front door.
"Hey, my uncle may be ageing but he is still a treat to the eyes." He laughed airily and put his phone back in his pocket to knock at the door of his grandparents' house. Before he could say anymore, Lynne spoke in an innocent tone.
"All Morgan's are." She said in a teasing tone and leaned her face closer to James' in an angelic way but he didn't blush for once. At first, he raised a fond eyebrow at her forgetting that, although he and Jonah shared striking resemblance, they were not technically related. He was the boyfriend of his blood aunt. I thought he would blush after he got that out the way but he didn't.
He scowled slightly and I laughed, remembering that he knew very much about Lynne and Jessie having girls nights together gathered around old photo albums at giggling at Noah, the young version of James' Grandfather. They saw a striking resemblance to James and he was very much a heartthrob back in his day.
Lynne blinked innocently at his scowl and poked his nose, unhooking her arm from his to knock at the door herself. He pretended to stick his tongue out at her but went back to being content, his hand resting on her shoulder.
It wasn't a surprise that the orange haired angel knocked at Noah and Josie's house like it was very much her own. Since her visits became more and more frequent and she got even closer to James, she grew an even bigger fondness for his grandparents. They treated her like family and her with them. She often paid them a visit, with or without James. She enjoyed their company and their old stories, especially their ones about the lavender haired male as a little boy.
So it didn't surprise me that James had asked Lynne to go with him to Sunday lunch with Noah and Josie when they told him that they had invited his parents for a rare occasion too. His wife Jessie would have course gone along for moral support too but she was less likely to hold her tongue. She was more likely to make a comment towards their behaviour. Lynne was happy to go. She could put behind the things she had heard about Charlie and Johanna to be there for James and see his Grandparents. As well as his Auntie Georgina and Uncle Jonah who had two children of their own and two adopted ones. She knew James was in such a good place that their words (hopefully) couldn't possibly get to him anymore.
It didn't take long for Josie to answer the door to us all and reach up to give us all a welcoming hug before leading us off to the kitchen. We were all late, as ever. They didn't mind. But I guessed Charlie and Johanna did from the way they stared from being sat at the table. Josie ignored them and beamed, watching her grandson give everyone a hug in the room. Lynne did too. They were all family already and that was before James and Lynne was a proper thing.
James hugged Jonah last while Lynne reached down to give Noah a hug and an innocent kiss on the cheek. The lavender haired male held his strawberry blonde Uncle in his arms for quite some time before finally pulling away to speak to him. They were both an affectionate and touchy pair. They had one arm each on each other's shoulder as they conversed.
"Oh before I forget, Misty says hi." James said casually and with a smile and a nod, contrasting to his smirks and his laughter reading out the texts earlier.
The shy older and strawberry blonde male blinked at his nephews words before smiling, his hand breaking away to push past his shoulder length locks as he nodded back.
"Oh, make sure to give her and her family my love." He told James sincerely, glancing and giving Lynne a smile as I nuzzled closer on her shoulder before he went back to James, his hand waving almost excitedly. "Tell her as well that I was out sketching the other day and saw the most beautiful water Pokémon. Really, really gorgeous. I tried to copy them all. She might like to come and see."
Lynne in some ways had a lot more childlike innocence to her than even James and she giggled openly upon hearing Jonah's words, knowing very much that Misty would like to see his work. Upon hearing her noises, James couldn't help but go back to smirking himself. He was about to make a remark when Georgina and Jonah's two year old twins came darting down the halls to come and greet their cousin James and his special friend.
The lavender haired little toddler didn't hesitate to tackle the other lavender haired human with a massive hug while the strawberry blonde one stayed behind and holding her adoptive brother's hand. But she waved her chubby fist at everyone, causing us all to melt.
Jonah and Georgina beamed proudly at their children while Bear, their adopted ethnic son beamed proudly down at his little Down syndrome sister. He held her hand lovingly and approached James after he put his other sister down. He was to be minding them both with their other adoptive brother, Peter, while the adults had dinner. But he whispered playfully to James, causing him to laugh.
"Are you okay being alone with Charlie and Johanna? Because I've been alone with them before, I know what it's like."
Despite the child's words being mostly playful, I could sense there was slight airy truth to them so I giggled. But Lynne came twirling over to James' side and pressed a kiss to his cheek as she smiled at them.
"He's not alone, he's got me."
Even though Lynne's face in his earlier didn't cause him to blush, her sweet words this time around caused James' cheeks to blush rosy pink. And his aunt spotted this.
After playfully ushering her children back to their room to give the adults peace for their Sunday lunch, she gave her nephew a knowing look. But he blinked innocently at her back. She then smirked and before she could say anything, her brother and James' father, Charlie cleared his throat. He finally stood up from being seated at the table with Johanna.
"I cannot say I'm the least bit surprised that even though you see us the least, you're still coming to greet us last."
James and Jonah both raised a slight eyebrow upon hearing his British accent but didn't make a comment towards it. Georgina did, however, and she muttered under her breath that they'd see James a lot more if they treated him better.
The lavender haired male heard this but he went over to shake his father's hand anyway despite everything and kiss his mother on the hand as well. She just rolled her eyes at him and stayed seated. She was more prone to showing her disappointment in him the older they both got. Her lip curled as she gestured to Lynne.
"So I see that you've bought that red head to dinner instead of your actual wife, is that right James?" she asked in a tone that made it perfectly clear that she knew it was obvious that she was right. She continued in her Southern accent. "That is entirely improper of you."
After she commented this, Charlie couldn't help but add his own words as he nodded his head and combed his moustache ready for dinner.
"At least you are consistent in that respect. Although I hope you haven't had to split up a fight between your two wenches."
James pulled a face that showed his parents were already beginning to grate on him upon hearing Charlie disrespect his girls. But they were not affecting him too badly so he just pulled Lynne's chair out for her before sitting with her when Noah and Josie encouraged them to sit.
The lavender haired male had changed a lot since his Team Rocket days. He was probably one of the most changing in the group but he always remained himself. The other people gave him knew traits. He became curious like Lynne. He became even softer like Jordan. He became courageous like Misty. And he became ballsy like Jessie. He retorted to his parents but remained as respectful as ever.
"Oh, yes yes, Lynne is here." He nodded his head and pretended to dab his mouth with his napkin already even though he hadn't taken a sip of his wine or eaten his roast yet. He continued with a serious tone. "In fact we tossed a coin to see which of my 'wenches' could come along and it landed on Lynne. So here we are."
Jonah and Georgina stifled a laugh in the kitchen at their nephew's level toned comeback and I almost had my own giggles upon seeing Charlie's expression. He prided himself in being a smart man but he really was an idiot as he believed his son. While Johanna just shook her head with disgust and went back to ignoring her son for her husband. That was fine with him. James stood up when Georgina ushered him over.
Before I could listen to those two converse, I watched as Jonah was right there for Josie the minute the dinner was all cooked and he was all set to help her plate everything up. He was so very helpful. He spoke fondly of his deceased mother. He was artistic. He was soft. He was creative. I wouldn't have been surprised if Misty had a soft spot for him because he was a combination of all her favourite guys.
With a smile on my face, I went back to listening in on James and Georgina and soon smirked at them. The red headed older female looked seriously at her nephew and she rested a sturdy hand on his shoulder.
"You just tell me at any time if you want to get as far away as possible from them, okay?" she told him, referring to her brother and sister in law aka James' parents. She continued in an almost motherly way. "Look at me even. I'll get you right out of there."
The lavender haired male softened at this but was still in a playful mood. He copied her serious tone and rested his hand back on her shoulder as he looked at her. He repeated her words.
"You just tell me if you want to get the hell away from your smarmy brother because I'll get you right out of there."
They both giggled together and Georgina playfully pretended to swat at him with the washing up cloth. I wasn't surprised that it was that light-hearted act of violence that got Charlie's attention when we were all seated and began eating our Sunday lunch together.
The greying purple haired male wiped gravy out of his moustache before speaking, his chair oddly far away from his wife's.
"I forget that you now know that it was in fact Georgina who carried the little spawn that was you." He began but in less of a spiteful tone than his wife. His British accent while his parents were Southern just made him such a joke. He continued. "How are you taking that?"
James raised an eyebrow at his words but still didn't let a thing get to him as he took a sip of his wine. His chair was closer to Lynne's than Charlie's was to his own wife's as he responded to his father.
"I am fine, I found out quite a long time ago now." He mumbled matter of factly but the rest of us that wasn't Johanna and Charlie couldn't help but exchange sad glances. James didn't notice. Or James didn't care.
After being reunited with his Auntie Georgina, he found out that it was in fact her that carried him due to Johanna wanting a surrogate. It was Charlie who was more interested in parenthood so in her words, she didn't want to ruin her figure just for a baby. That was heart-breaking enough but was even more heart shattering was how Georgina cut everyone off after giving James up, having such a hard time of it all. She was his Auntie and James was her nephew. But she was truly more like a mother to him than Johanna ever had been.
James wasn't really hurt by it anymore as he now had the gift of Georgina and Jonah in his life. But he was hurt by the fact that he knew Charlie had bought it up in the attempt to get some kind of emotion from him. He spoke to him after having a mouthful of roast chicken.
"So are you not going to ask how my wife is doing? How the kids are? I know you see them even less but isn't that the polite thing to do?" he made a gentle dig at how they picked at his manners before but Lynne didn't notice. She was too busy trying to push a specific pea onto her fork. Everybody else listened in while Johanna replied curtly.
"I care nothing of your wife and your offspring, James dear." She called him a pet name but her tone didn't match her words. She held her cutlery in a sickeningly elegant way. "I care less about the wench who you replaced sweet Jessiebelle with than the wench you have here today."
I could see James gritting his teeth to himself that his girls were being disrespected yet again but he remained silent. Lucky for him, Josie piped up with a beam and clapped her hands. She was almost as innocent as the red head she was talking about.
"Oh! I'm so glad that he's bought Lynne here to dinner too!" she exclaimed joyfully, causing everyone and even Charlie to share giggles at her enthusiasm. When James smiled softly over at Lynne through a mouthful of food and she squeezed his hand back, Josie got even more overjoyed.
She couldn't help but ask. "So are you two finally a thing yet?"
Upon hearing his Nanny's question, James almost choked on that mouthful of chicken while I smirked. It was a question that everybody wondered while only some had the curiosity to ask.
The lavender haired man quickly swallowed more wine to get rid of the dry meat in his mouth while Johanna scoffed. She was disgusted that he chose Jessie but she'd be even more disgusted if he had relations with another woman outside of marriage. Josie's expression was completely the opposite to her daughter in law. She was beaming.
James managed to swallow.
"N-No, no, there is no things being had between us." He managed to speak out and the way that Lynne looked at James like he was lying made me curious. I knew that the occasional kiss was being had but I didn't like to ask if it had gone further with the blessing of Jordan and Jessie. Only Josie could be bold enough to ask. James continued talking. "She's with Jordan; I respect him too much to come between them right now."
While everyone else softened upon hearing this (and Josie focused gleefully on the 'right now' part), Johanna seemed to scoff all the more. James just couldn't do right in her eyes. He chose Jessie. That was wrong. If he betrayed Jessie by falling for Lynne, that was wrong too. And Jonah noticed this. He tried to distract her. He offered the bowl of potatoes out to her, a surprisingly fake smile on his face for such a submissive man.
"More, Johanna?" he asked while she was already placing her own potatoes into her mouth, causing her fork to be poised in the air. She raised an eyebrow at him after she swallowed.
"No. And you'd better get them away from yourself actually; we wouldn't want you piling back on the pounds like when you were younger."
Jonah somehow managed to keep his smile even after her crude comment about how he used to be larger as a young man while James blinked. He was surprised at her words, even though they were coming from her.
The way the strawberry blonde male's hand shook gently as he held his own fork after her words made me sad for him. It made me realise something. Everybody had been making sure James was okay. Everybody had been making sure Georgina was okay too. But Jonah had just as bad memories with her too. He had known Charlie since his birth and Johanna since day-care. She had been quite the bully to her in her time. Georgina knew. She softly reached out to her boyfriend and held his hand.
"Are you okay, Jonah?" she asked casually but with worry in her voice, causing both James and her chairs to move closer to her protectively.
He continued smiling and this made me realise something else. Like James, Jonah had changed because of the people around him. Georgina made him complete. Noah made him gentle. Lynne made him creative. And Misty made him snarky.
He shrugged as he confidently took hold of the potatoes and piled loads on his plate, looking at Charlie when Johanna raised her eyebrow at him.
"Yeah I'm okay." She shrugged and smiled before his eyes squinted almost pettily. That was a first for Jonah. James watched him as he continued. "The last laugh is on her because in school we had an 'I hate Johanna' club."
Noah almost choked on his whisky upon hearing this about his daughter in law and James and Lynne nudged each other under the table at Jonah coming into his own. I smirked as Johanna choked with horror. She didn't have time to ask because the strawberry blonde male continued. I wondered if it was the alcohol he was sharing with James that gave him new found confidence.
"Yep." He shrugged almost gleefully after eating another mouthful of potato. "And I very literally mean 'we'. I was in the club. It was me. And old Charlie here."
James' father squeaked innocently and almost spluttered on his dinner before looking at Johanna like butter wouldn't melt. She shot him a glare of fury.
"Charlie Morgan you are on very dangerous territory right now." She told him harshly before looking between both of the boys who used to be in the club.
After Jonah truthfully told the whole table about the folders and the handshake and the talks they used to have, Georgina couldn't help but interrupt. She rested her arm on the table.
"Is that why you two would lock the door to your bedroom and stay in there for hours?" she asked curiously before pulling a patronising face when Jonah nodded honestly while Charlie nodded timidly. "A little relieved I have to tell you. I heard all sorts of noises."
Jonah pulled an uncomfortable face when he understood what she was insinuating while Charlie found himself smirking at his best friend.
James found himself pulling the same uncomfortable look as Jonah at Charlie's moustache twitched smirk but soon found himself almost gleeful as well. He enjoyed hearing that his father was just about as much of a delinquent as he was told he was. He looked over at Georgina with a playful sigh.
"Oh, only child perks." He squeezed Lynne's hand briefly before playing with his hair with the other. "Although I guess the downside is I had an imaginary friend before Growlie and they liked him better than me, I have to say.
To Lynne's horror, Charlie earned a smack at the back of the head from Johanna after she glared at her son to be quiet. Her face was turning almost as plum as her hair. Lynne couldn't help but imagine James on the receiving end of that as a little boy.
"So you two would just get together and gossip about me behind my back?" she hissed with betrayal before folding her arms over chest defensively. Her nose stuck high in the air. "Your 'I hate Johnna' club was clearly a typo and should be love. You both got with this eventually!"
Both Jonah and James looked as disgusted with each other, Jonah remembering that he did date his brother's best friend before they were together in university. Meanwhile, James tried not to imagine poor Jonah having to deal with his mother. Charlie remained disgusted himself, finally noticing how unladylike his wife was being.
At the silence of both of the males, Johanna couldn't help but speak more to get a reaction. She scoffed.
"You're both far from satisfying." She told them both and dug her heel into Charlie's foot under the table, causing him to drop his napkin dramatically and stand up. He nodded his head pettily.
"Oh blast it! I'm back in the club!" he announced and looked at Jonah for support. Though he mocked his best friend openly and could see his flaws, he couldn't help but stand with him. They high fived after Jonah stood.
"Both co-founders of the I hate Johanna club are ready and present." He nodded his head and James only looked at Lynne for a split second before she beamed and stood up too. Her eyes full of innocence.
"I wanna join!" she exclaimed and almost tugged Josie with her, causing Johanna to glare before refusing to look at anybody.
When James shook his head in impressed disbelief at her and had a smirk on his face, she met his eyes with her innocent ones at his look.
"What?" she mumbled as she stood between Josie and Jonah while Charlie recounted the old rules of the club. "I've never been in a club before."
She said with such innocence and believability but James knew. James knew her and he loved it. He loved her. She knew more than anyone what Johanna had been like to him as a child and she openly didn't like her at all. She didn't know an emotion as negative as hate but if she was close to hating anybody, it would be Johanna.
I couldn't help but laugh. Charlie clearly loved his wife very much but it was amusing how seriously they were both taking it. Her being the enemy and him being the jokester.
...
Despite all the (childish) drama, a fantastic meal was shared. The drinks flowed. The laughter roared. The memories were made. Hours later, James staggered down the path out of his Grandparents house with Lynne.
They had arrived with their arms linked but now their hands were. He stopped her halfway down the path with a squeeze of the hand and he died down his merry laughter to talk seriously to her.
"I've asked Jessie the same thing and I'm going to ask you it too." He began with a smile and innocently touched her cheek as he referred to his parents. "Promise me we're not going to end up like that? Like my parents? Acting like you're all in love but secretly having major issues. I don't want to end up like that."
My mouth hung open at James' words but he either didn't notice they had slipped or didn't care they had. Lynne blushed but shook it off by smiling and looking airily back at him.
"I love you too, James." She said truthfully and I knew that they openly loved each other but I didn't know if they were openly falling in love with each other. I listened. "And I never forgot how one night you told me that I make you more yourself. Because I feel the same way. You make me more myself."
James blushed and smiled at her, still clumsily stroking her cheek. He didn't have time to ask her if she meant that because she continued. Her face was close to his.
"You have bits of me in you. And I have bits of you in me. So there is no way that we will ever end up like them. We are ourselves. And I don't need anything other than the love we have now for me to know that we are truer together than they could ever be."
And with that, Lynne pressed a linger kiss to his lips while holding his chin softly before she twirled off, giggling happily down the rest of the garden bath. She left James standing there for a moment. I just looked at his face and I knew.
His eyes were gently widened. His cheeks were rosy in the moonlight. His heart was hammering. His mouth was smiling.
He was already in love with her.
The End.
There you go! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 This chapter was based off the Friends episode "The One With The Rumour" because Jonah is based off Brad Pitt. Jonah is probably one of the nicest guys and kind of like a grown up version of Misty's son, James. Like mentioned, he is a soft mommy's boy and he is an artist. He's got two adopted children with Georgina and two of their own. I don't think I've settled on names for the blood twins yet but the adopted two are Peter (from the last chapter) and Bear. He and Georgina have known each other all their lives and were on again and off again until when they finally got together probably in their late 40s/early 50s. Jonah is very close with James and Lynne too. He's a play mate to all the children because he has those child like qualities like Jordan. I look forward to writing about him more :3 Thanks again and I will be back next Wednesday so see you then!
