Hello :P It is Friday and I am back to upload today because it's the 23rd March and AAML-TAML's 18th Birthday! I already had written a story for her a long time ago but after writing this one recently, when I was about halfway through with it, I knew it was for her. So I hope you all enjoy but especially you, boo. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and know that without you, I definitely would have stopped writing a long time ago. We made these characters together and creating them and writing about them have been some of my fondest memories. Enjoy this Jordan and Lynne story just for you!
Ages:
Jordan (Flashback): 20
Lynne (Flashback): 20
Disclaimer: I own Jordan and Lynne with Shannon. I do not own the song 'Dream A Little Dream of Me' at the end of this story. I imagine the one that plays is the Doris Day version :P
(Full Title: The One With Jordan and Lynne's New Beginning. It wouldn't fit.)
As I continued dreaming while being cuddled up between the warm and cosy bodies of Jordan and Lynne, I found myself smiling in my sleep when I saw oh so familiar sights. I stretched my legs out contentedly. I was sure I'd seen something like that before. And I was even surer that I had been there and I was dreaming of one of my own memories. But almost as soon as my vision was familiar to me, it suddenly felt not quite right. It was still familiar to me. But it wasn't a déjà vu.
In my slumber, I began frowning. But my feelings soon went back to my initial ones when I began to dream more heavily still. I thought that my visions were of myself, Ash, Misty and Brock – people so very close to me. I soon found myself smiling again. My dreams were of young Jordan and Lynne – two people who were new to me but still, somehow very close to me. And so, my body completely relaxed. And I was ready to enjoy what I was about to be shown.
The yellow haired broad backed male marched along the concrete of the city, his pretty orange haired girlfriend on his arm and seemingly perky despite the long journey I knew that he'd had. He let out little panting noises but he continued walking, his knees up and his other hand swinging. Even though they had taken a tremendous risk, he was in rather high spirits. And this caused Lynne to smile softly at him.
"You really are in a happy mood, aren't you Jordan?" she asked her lemon haired one and only and gave his shoulder a little nuzzle, her delicate hand on his strong upper arm. She then pulled away to contentedly squint at him. "I love seeing you like this."
Jordan smiled bashfully and almost goofily upon hearing this, showing off his dimples. But he decided to focus on answering her back rather than giving her one of his famous bear hugs. He pulled away from her and continued marching on ahead, his heavy backpack still on his back from their trip. He shrugged as he moved over to the sign labelling the city.
"I can't help being happier in this new place. While having you at my side like always, of course." He told her truthfully, not even trying to make her blush, but of course she gave him an adoring look. He continued his hands on his hips before they reached out to trace the letters. He read slowly but confidently. "Cerulean City – A mysterious blue aura surrounds it."
Lynne continued smiling softly at him from his sweet words and his careful reading too and you can bet she began beaming when Jordan continued talking, playfully jutting his chin out at her and batting his lashes.
"And here I thought it was just you who has that delightful blue glow around it." He told her teasingly, letting out a few relaxed chuckles when, like predicted, her smile glowed back at him. But she then playfully nudged her hip against his.
"Oh, Jordan…" she shook her head fondly at him and pushed all of her orange locks over one side before moving closer to him, wrapping her arms around him from behind and nuzzling the back of his neck. Her eyes shone even more as she too looked at the sign. "Cerulean City. Our new home. Our new beginning. Finally. Something for just us."
The yellow haired male nodded his head reflectively upon hearing her words as he went back to looking at the sign and his green orbs flickered as they passed over many many memories. Some good. Mostly bad. But they were all behind him now, like Lynne said. They were all behind them.
I was ready to continue watching Jordan's thoughtful face and begin reflecting in dream land myself but suddenly, he was energetic again. He gave the sign a gentle flick before grabbing his girlfriend's hand again, tugging her along the concrete of the city. His shoulders were held high again. He smiled.
"Well c'mon then, we better get finding our new land. It might take hours and hours to locate." He told her pessimistically but contrasted his words with an airy smile, his dimples showing once again.
Lynne had almost jumped at him going from thoughtful to energetic within seconds but then she shook her head fondly again, allowing him to tug her. That was her Jordan. She remained quiet for a few moments, just looking around the city as they passed it. But she eventually responded to his words a few minutes later. She nudged him with her cheek.
"Maybe you should get sweet little Mantine to help us. It always knows where to go." She told her boyfriend and looked at his face for a response but assumed he hadn't heard her when he was too busy studying the map. But, like her, he just chose to answer her a few minutes later and after they had passed many more houses and shops. He smiled earnestly.
"My sweet little Mantine certainly always knows where to go but I don't think it knows cities very well. It might feel like a fish out of water."
Lynne couldn't help but giggle at his pun and she softened and smiled even more when Jordan looked clueless at her amusement. He hadn't even noticed that he'd said something rather clever. Her hand went over her mouth as she continued quietly laughing to herself while Jordan decided to put the map down on the floor and pretend to step on it to figure out which way to go.
I stretched my arms out in my sleep and smiled. I couldn't help but think of Ash then as I dozed. I had seen him do that so many times. Thinking about it then, their dynamic reminded me so much of Ash and Misty together. One of them clueless and thinking up ideas that surely could never work while the other was secretly laughing at them. No wonder I felt so at home around them. They were very much like I had always known. And I knew that I wanted to know them forever.
When I drifted away from my thoughts and observations, I noticed that Jordan and Lynne's dynamics and changed again to something I was even more familiar with. Jordan had gotten tired of map reading and become hungry too. So, after the orange haired female had lifted him a snack bag out of her own backpack and given him that to munch on, it was her turn to help them find their way. I should've known that she'd do something completely different to her boyfriend.
She stuffed the map back away into her backpack, causing Jordan to blink as he licked crumbs off of his chubby fingers. She just gave him an airy smile back and casually licked her finger before holding it up to read the wind. After doing that, her eyes scanned the area. I imagined Jordan's eyes meeting mine and him shrugging cluelessly. I shrugged back in my sleep.
Lynne then held her hand out in the wind, getting ready to catch something there. But it soon would be there. After humming a sing song tune and looking around once again, a Pidgey suddenly flew into her hand. Jordan's eyes grew even wider while Lynne just smiled at it and stroked its cheek before talking politely to the Pokémon.
"We're trying to find our new home. I don't suppose you possibly know where it is?" she asked the creature in a sweet voice and though Jordan was content from having just been fed, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at his girlfriend from in the middle of licking the corners of his mouth clean. He looked right at her.
"It's a bird Pokémon. Trust me; it doesn't know where that is."
Upon hearing this, Lynne turned to give her boyfriend a look and the Pidgey seemed to almost blow a raspberry at the yellow haired man. But it focused on Lynne instead. After nuzzling her cheek, he nodded his head and knotted his eyes together determinedly. The little creature then flew up in the air and began to lead the way.
Lynne clapped her hands together once before taking hold of Jordan's crumby fingers before deciding it was more comfortable to link arms with him instead. She somehow tugged him along with her, pointing happily at the bird.
"Oh, I have faith in it! I think it knows exactly where it's going!" she told Jordan and leaned back to give Jordan a clumsy kiss on the cheek before moving forward again, still tugging him along the concrete of Cerulean City.
And while Lynne's back was turned, Jordan couldn't help but look adoringly at her while she was utterly clueless about it. His look of love for her was completely different than hers was for him but it still contained the exact amount of love. She looked at him like the strong and handsome being that she knew he was, both inside and out. While he looked at her like he had found a home at last. His eyes didn't light up as dramatically at hers, but his loving expression seemed to linger. He bit his lip as after a few minutes, he was still looking at her. And I found myself falling in love with the way he looked when he was falling in love with her.
It was so beautiful to see, so very beautiful. He was a damaged soul. He was damaged beyond belief. But every minute that he was with her, he seemed to heal. He seemed to know himself more and like he had described for her, he too began to glow. And though he tried to hide it, he couldn't help but glow with slight impressiveness when the Pidgey led them both to a plot of land and a severely run down and rickety building.
Jordan hesitated, reaching into his pocket for a photograph. Lynne let go of his arm and her hand moved to his shoulder. She peered at the image too while Jordan looked between it and the building in front of them. He paused but he found himself scratching the back of his head.
"Hm…" he mumbled, his green eyes filling with disbelief but he was trying his best to hide it. He then shrugged, looking at the image one more time before stuffing it back in his pocket. "I guess the little thing found it after all."
Lynne nodded her head joyfully and clapped her hands again, smiling even more when the Pidgey flew from above their heads and landed on her shoulder. The orange haired female happily thanked the creature by nuzzling her cheek against its own one and uttered grateful words to it. Jordan on the other hand, didn't thank it with words but he gave it a shy nod of the head.
After the bird Pokemon seemed to nod back, it kissed Lynne on the cheek with its beak and took off, soaring into the sky. The ocean blue orbed female waved sadly when it went out of sight and was about to utter goodbyes to it when it did a sudden U-turn and flew into the nearby tree. It looked like it was about to crash until the last minute but it suddenly came to a halt and gracefully landed down into its nest with another Pidgey and a baby one. Lynne clapped gleefully as its feathers fluttered and its talons poised as it finally landed back home.
The blue orbed female rushed back over to Jordan to give him another hug, happily squeezing his shoulders and nuzzling his neck. After doing so, she couldn't help but pull away and give the little family of Pidgey's a wave. They all waved back.
"Oh, how magical. We've met the neighbours already!" she announced with such innocence that their roles swapped and that time, it was Lynne blinking while Jordan couldn't help but chuckle fondly. But unlike how he had doubted the little bird, he wasn't in the mood to be negative anymore. He pulled Lynne back into that cuddle and held her body close to his, both of them standing next to the letterbox of their new home while they looked upon it.
Their new gym building and their house just off it was rickety and run down. But it was theirs. And when they looked at it, they saw potential and they saw a future and they saw a home. Like Lynne said, it was something that was just for them. Unusually, it was Jordan to break their few minutes of silence as he held his girlfriend close and rubbed her shoulder with his thumb.
"We made it." He mumbled in almost a whisper and though he tried to hide it, his eyes grew thoughtful. And though he was smiling, it looked almost trembling. I certainly didn't blame him. He'd been through a lot. They'd been through a lot. Jordan's eyes grew clouded with memory as he reflected on the things that I'd heard about.
They had decided to run away from both their homes in Johto when Jordan heard on the docks about Kanto wishing to change the number of gym leaders from six to eight. After a lot of thinking, Jordan decided to just go for it. He was a highly skilled Water Pokémon trainer. And thanks to Lynne's encouragement, they had gone for it. In the dead of the night one day, they set sail on the boat that Jordan had been working on fixing for years and years on end. The Valentine. They had used it to make their escape. They had used it to start their future together. Officially.
As well as making their escape, they had also discovered they'd made something else on the way. A baby. And Jordan's brain switched to this after thinking long and hard about his past. His eyes became less cloudy as he thought about it. They seemed to smile.
He nuzzled his nose against Lynne's neck and kissed it briefly before his hand moved from her hip and slid to her barely visible bump. There was nothing really to cup but he did anyway. He knew it was there. They both knew it was there. He looked over at her and smiled softly.
"We made it." He repeated himself in a louder but still soft tone, his thumb rubbing his girlfriend's belly before he poked it lovingly. He smiled goofily at her, his bright eyes and dimples decorating his face. "We also made that."
Lynne didn't hesitate to laugh adoringly upon hearing his words and she nodded her head, biting her lip contentedly as her arms went around his neck. She was holding him as tightly as he was holding her. She leaned forward to peck his lips.
"We did make that…" she breathed out with love and disbelief, her eyes glancing down to her belly before back up at her boyfriend. Her face scrunched up happily and she gave him another kiss but that time, on the cheek. "And now it's time to make this place our home."
Jordan nodded his head while Lynne's neck crooked to nuzzle in between the yellow haired male's neck and shoulder. From dreaming, I knew that she meant her words vaguely. She meant sometime that week. She didn't mean that very minute. But Jordan did. He had another energetic burst and moved away from his girlfriend, putting his heavy backpack down on the ground and his hands going back to his hips.
"You got that right." He nodded his head and licked his upper lip thoughtfully; his eyes scanning the rickety building before his head craned back to look at Lynne. His eyes were round with determination and creativity. "So where do we begin?"
Lynne thought Jordan was joking at first when he said this and she let out a few chuckles but after seeing his confused expression and covering her mouth with her hand, she realised that he meant every word. She moved close to him again and took hold of his hands before her hands moved to his shoulders. She kissed his nose gently but she had to make herself shake her head at him.
"Oh, Jordan." She told him, causing his brow to furrow and him to look at her with even bigger green orbs. She just had to plant another kiss to his face. She spoke to him softly. "I understand you want to get started right away and I do too. But there's no point now, it's almost getting dark."
She paused while both their heads went towards the Cerulean sky. Indeed, the world above them was beginning to gradually get darker and there was a dusk-like chill in the air. After Jordan glanced and saw that the Pidgey were all huddled together in their nest, Lynne stroked his cheek and continued. He looked at her while she spoke.
"I promise we will get started tomorrow as soon as we wake up. But for now, we need to decide what room we're going to huddle up in."
Lynne tried to move away from him but he stopped her. He held onto her hand, firmly but carefully. I knew that she knew he was going to make a puppy-like expression at her because she was so obviously trying to crane her neck away from him. And Jordan noticed that too. He wasn't even going to do what she thought but because she thought that, he grabbed hold of her face gently and made it while she looked right at him. She whined in response while he briefly stuck his bottom lip out.
"C'mon, I just want to do something. Just one thing." He told her in a slightly begging tone and Lynne continued whining back, knowing that she'd end up giving into him. And Jordan began enjoying the effect he was having on her. He tilted his head on one side and playfully poked her before lightly tugging her and pushing her down so she was sitting on the porch. He took a step back and stood above her. "You don't have to do anything so as not to wear you out or harm the baby. You can just watch me…" he paused, scanning the area for something to do. He didn't smile when he saw a pile of wood that needed coming off the building. He just looked at her with succeeding eyes instead. He shrugged casually. "You can watch me just sort this wood out, okay?"
The orange haired female couldn't help but sigh as he had gotten his own way but she then found herself melting at some of his other words. She knew that him making her sit down and mind herself and the baby wasn't even a tactic. He was being his own gentle and sweet self. So after Jordan leaned forward and began yanking the wood away from near the porch like he said he would, she just sat and watched him, one leg over the other. But she couldn't help but tell him.
"You don't have to fuss this much over me and the baby until I resemble a beached Wailmer." She told her boyfriend playfully and before he could furrow his brow and frown and reassure her that she'd never be that (or agree with her – after all, it was Jordan), she smiled sweetly at him. "But I am happy to watch you. My sweet, strong, handsome, sailor sweetheart."
Jordan didn't often accept compliments but he found himself melting at this one. And he happily showed that by playfully pretending to melt into a puddle on the floor before blowing her a kiss and continuing to pull the old wood away from the house. And like Jordan had studied Lynne while her attention wasn't on him, she was then doing the same to him. She kept her legs crossed and cupped her face with her hand while she watched him.
She longed for moments like that. It reminded her so very much of the day that they first met. Though it wasn't that long into the distant past, she still very much liked to remember it. The days of him working hard on the dock and her waiting tables in the café at the sea front. Them breaking for lunch together. Jordan's father with the hard exterior but the secret and soft interior observing their duo and secretly wishing he had a love like that.
She was going to miss him. But she was glad that Jordan had wrote him a letter and only him one about their departure. But she felt that he knew it was going to happen anyway. He never tried to stop them. He never tried to stop their love. Lynne couldn't even stop their love. It was immortal. And she knew that even more so as she watched him making a surprisingly neat pile out of the wood and a safe distance from the Pidgey tree.
He smiled happily over at Lynne as he pulled away the last piece and got ready to add that to the pile also, wiping his brow as he held the plank in his hand.
"At least we can make a fire and we'll be warm tonight. You were right that maybe we should start tomorrow, I guess, but I'm right that I should definitely take this wood away." He told her airily but he soon found himself sticking his nose in the air playfully when she stuck her tongue out at him teasingly. He soon got jokingly cocky. He pretended to balance the plank of wood on one finger before he tossed it up and down in his hands. "What's it like to be with a man who is always right? I don't know but you sure do. What's it like to- Ouch!"
I jumped in my sleep but thankfully I didn't wake as both Lynne and I witnessed Jordan catching the wood at an odd angle, causing him to drop it. Lynne's eyes widened with worry but it was obvious what happened when he winced and brought his finger to his mouth to soothe it.
"Splinter!" he told her through gritted teeth, trying not to shudder at the silly amount of pain he was getting. But he soon lowered his finger away from his mouth when Lynne rushed to his side and tried to inspect it for him. He shook his head and he shook his hand too. "It's fine, it's fine, I should be used to it by now." He insisted but Lynne continued trying to look at it. He smiled at her and decided to grab her hand with his throbbing fingers instead. He shrugged. "I guess I'm not just always right but I'm a right idiot as well. Oh well, let's go inside and pick a room like you said."
Lynne was hesitant to let his little injury go untreated but she knew Jordan more than anyone. She knew that if he really needed help, he'd ask for it. She soon smiled and nodded at his words and after planting a kiss on his cheek, told him that she was going to say goodnight to the birds before joining him.
Jordan rolled his eyes at her but it was in a fond way and he soon nodded before heading inside. The floorboards creaked loudly below his feet but he really didn't care. That was the foundations of their new home. And he found himself smiling for that particular reason. He crept along the floor and went into one particular room. Because the whole house was almost completely empty, you couldn't tell which room had been or which room was going to be which. But still, Jordan didn't care.
He made his way into one of them. He found an old cabinet. After looking around the room for any distinguishable or creepy paintings – there was none, he reached his hand into his pocket and pulled out his Poké Balls. He stroked them gently and gave each one a shy kiss as he planted them down on the top of the cupboard. He mumbled to them.
"There you go, my crew…" he told them as he placed each and every one down carefully, putting them in an old record box that he found lying around when they almost rolled onto the floor. He tried again. When he succeeded in keeping them safe, he continued. "This is a new start. Rest now, we'll be grateful for your help tomorrow."
Lynne had since come in from speaking her own words to the Pokémon outside and though she hovered in the door way and watched, she didn't make her presence known. She just stayed enjoying the sights of the love of her life.
Her love of her life moved away from the Poké Balls in the record box, suddenly becoming curious as to why he had found that out of all things. He turned around and turned to the exact correct position. He saw another cabinet. But unlike the first, that one had something on top of it. He moved closer, his eyes filled with curiosity. Lynne did the same thing but the floorboards didn't creak for her. They did for Jordan. And they sounded as he realised what it was.
"A record player…" he mumbled to himself and before Lynne could join in the conversation or warn him that she was in the room with him, Jordan's foot scuffed something on the floor. He didn't hesitate to bend down and pick the square object up. He held it in front of his face and inspected it before taking it out of the sleeve. He blew the dust off it and was inwardly intrigued whether it was going to work as he moved closer to the record player. He set the record in the player correctly. He shrugged to himself. "Won't hurt to try."
He mumbled to himself as he tried to get it to work. He couldn't get the hang of it at first. He tried and tried and he tried some more. But eventually, he got the pin to stay on the record. And it began to spin. It began to play. His pupils dilated and his ears pricked as a song filled the room. He listened closely.
Stars shining bright above you.
Night breezes seem to whisper 'I love you'.
Birds singing in the sycamore trees.
Dream a little dream of me.
While Jordan stayed frozen and listening to the song and its words, Lynne couldn't help but giggle and make her presence known. She moved to her boyfriend's side but didn't touch him. One hand went to her own hip while the other stroked her own pregnant belly.
"That's a really really old song. But what do you expect for a really really old house, huh?" she mused, expecting an answer from her long-term love. But she didn't get one. He was almost breathing heavily as he listened. He was in another world as he listened to the tune.
Say nighty-night and kiss me.
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me.
While I'm alone and blue as can be.
Dream a little dream of me.
As Jordan continued remaining silent, Lynne looked over at him and seemed almost worried. She knew that he often had moments like that – certain things setting off certain memories for him. Bad ones. But that time wasn't like all those other times. It was so different.
Her shoulders relaxed and she gently held a hand over her hard as she saw he was smiling slightly. She then moved to put both her hands on his shoulders. She nuzzled him. She didn't even need to ask him with words. She asked him with her eyes and he broke briefly away from the music to answer her. He laughed sheepishly.
"I do like it, I really really do. In fact, I love it." He told her and planted a clumsy kiss on her hand before getting an idea. He laughed all the more. "In fact…" he began again but didn't even need to explain what he wanted to do. He knew they'd be able to hear the record player from outside. Jordan tugged his one and only love onto the porch and began slow dancing with her. She didn't take even a second to catch on and join in. They both looked at each other, their eyes meeting and remaining in each other's arms as they danced together and moved romantically with the music.
Stars fading but I linger on, dear.
Still craving your kiss.
I'm longing to linger 'til dawn, dear.
Just saying this.
Jordan kept Lynne's body closer to his than ever but he began to gently spin her around too, his arms around her waist and her arms around his neck. Also while holding her torso, his fingers edged closer to feel her bump so their baby was involved too. Stars almost seemed to appear in the sky just for them as they danced. They danced together. They held one and other. And they laughed together too. It was a moment that they would remember for the rest of their lives. It was a moment marking the beginning of their lives.
Sweet dreams 'til sunbeams find you.
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you.
But in your dreams, whatever they be.
Dream a little dream of me.
Ironically, in that moment, I began to drift away to the deeper part of sleep and my visions began to fade away. But though I could no longer see young Jordan and Lynne. I could feel them. They were there with me always – us always – the same way they were there for each other always.
In that moment when they were dancing, they didn't know what their lives would lead to. They were full of hope. It was the beginning of their lives together. And even though it had some very tragic moments and very painful times, they were almost invisible when, in the present day, they danced with each other again.
They would always be that couple on the porch. They would always be those young kids in Johto. They would always be those innocent but brilliant parents. They would simply always be themselves. And because with each other, they were always themselves, they found themselves falling in love with each other over and over again, in each life and in every single way.
The End.
There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed but especially you, boo :3 After writing this, I was very pleased with it. I have written a lot of Jordan and Lynne but I really feel like I finally got them right here.
