Hello :P It is Wednesday and I am back with a new chapter. I really enjoyed writing this one. A lot of it feels like my own family life and I had a lot of fun with it. It focuses a lot on Jaxon Morgan, Jessie and James' youngest son together and I don't think I've really heavily written about him before. I really want to more this time. It's not the greatest introduction because he's not on his best behaviour here! But it's pretty honest. I hope you enjoy :3
Ages:
James: 37
Jazmyn: 16
Justin: 16
Jayden: 13
Jaxon: 12
Disclaimer: I own the story and the OCs mentioned. Just a heads up also, there's a couple of swear words in this one!
I wasn't talking to the lavender haired male. Though I was perching on his shoulder, I wasn't talking to him. And I wasn't looking at him either. He didn't care. From my peripheral vision and while my nose stuck firmly in the air, I could tell that he didn't care. He was breathing out quietly and shaking his head slightly at me but he was carrying on doing what he was doing. He was walking up the gravel path to the front door of his family home, a small suitcase in his right hand and his keys in his left, all ready to open up. I remained sticking my nose in the air and was determined to keep it that way. I hadn't wanted to leave the hospital. And even when we were both finally outside the front door and James was putting the key in the hole, I still didn't want to leave.
Misty was doing better. Slowly but surely, Misty was beginning to do better and I knew she was in safe hands for a few days with Jordan and Lynne visiting. But I still didn't like to be away from her side. Of course, I was very excited to see the Ketchum children the next day in a far off sort of way but first of all I was going to be staying over at the Morgan Mansion. I was never normally so displeased to be arriving there but I was irritated by the lavender haired male's attitude.
He was reluctant to leave too and he went about it in quite the moody way. I hadn't liked that. I hadn't liked the way that it upset Misty. So because of that, I was being equally as childish and uncompromising! Looking back, it didn't really make very much sense. But that's how it was. That's how it was going. I continued my looking up in the air fiasco as James let himself into his family home and took his shoes off right away and padded down the halls.
Straight away upon entering, we could both smell the subtle but lingering scent of takeaway food and I gathered that I smelt it stronger than the ex-rocketeer due to my nose staying firmly in the air. But I couldn't be certain; I still wasn't looking properly his way.
After letting out another quiet sigh and leaving his front door keys on a shelf as he continued walking down the hallways, he switched his small suitcase so that was in his left hand instead and he used his right, dominant hand to push open the doors. He was peeking in each and every room that he passed. He was looking for his family. He didn't find any of them right away, so he continued on his search.
I was still displeased by his previous attitude but even I managed to hide my smirk when he didn't find his family right away like he would've liked. Good, I thought to myself. If I had to wait to see my family, then he had too as well! I admit that it wasn't the most helpful attitude to have and it was quite far away from my usual self but at that point, I didn't care. I hadn't wanted to leave Misty in the hospital. I hadn't wanted to spend the night in his household with the lavender haired male's pouty self. And I hadn't wanted to witness my best friend running away either. But if everybody else was doing exactly as they pleased then I did too.
I hopped down from James' shoulder and decided to walk myself stubbornly behind him instead. He raised his eyebrow slightly but apart from that, he didn't wholeheartedly acknowledge my actions. He was too busy pushing open the door to one of the rooms that was his living room joining his breakfast bar. He was too busy finding his family.
Even I noticed that as soon as we both entered the room and the lavender haired male used his ring-clad right hand to push open the door, the atmosphere was far different than the hospital that we were so used to. It had the same hub-bub and hustle and bustle but it was a far livelier kind and not as serious and frown-y. The family room was alive with activity but the truth was it was nothing particularly exiting. It was just life. It was just real life. And in many ways, the hospital severely lacked that. It was a bubble. It was a whole other world. And in some ways, it was rather lifeless.
Justin was too busy moving from one end of the living room to the other and was occupied with taking large strides so he didn't notice his father or me lingering in the doorway, just watching everything that was going on. He shook his head as he strutted over to the window to pick his guitar up that was leaning against the wall close to the curtains. He sucked in his jaw after simply inspecting it and running his fingers up and down the neck of it, his expression beginning to look very displeased. He let out a grunt and turned his gaze to one particular person.
"Oh well done. Nice one. You've managed to get fruit all down here." He muttered and didn't drop his glare towards one of his little brothers for quite some time before he finally let that gaze go to pick up his beloved instrument instead. He was still frowning but he was focusing on gently putting the strap around his neck and positioning his guitar into its usual place over his stomach. After plucking at some of the strings and moving his hand up and down the fret board all over again, he resumed giving that glare to his younger brother that he had previously doing and even more so that time. "It's so sticky. You've splatted fruit all over it. It's so gross."
Jaxon was receiving many, many glares from his oldest brother but he barely seemed to care. From lingering in the breakfast bar area and sorting out takeaway containers and licking his skin as he got some of the leftover sauce on his fingers, he just raised an eyebrow. He just raised an eyebrow and retorted.
"How do you know it was me? You don't know that it was me. You and your assumptions." He said with a straight face and after he could see that Justin's grow was furrowing with annoyance even more, he found himself smirking. That was what made the deep purple haired male speak to his youngest brother quickly and not in the most friendly way. He began to take his guitar off from being draped around his neck and looked as though he wanted to use it as a weapon.
"Of course I know it was you. Nobody else in this family is as gross." Justin retorted back and after untucking the strap of his guitar that had gotten caught under the length of his long locks, he started taking strides back across the living room and got ready to join Jaxon in the breakfast bar area. He started to get even more irritated when the magenta haired pre-teen boy just did a rude expression with his face in response. I knew how the younger of the boys felt.
"Just leave it, you two." Jazmyn came in from another of the adjoining doors at the right moment and said in a level tone, hoping to get her twin brother and her youngest brother to listen to her. She hadn't even been in the room so she couldn't have possibly known what they were preparing to bicker about. Or maybe she did know. Maybe she had heard from wherever she came from. Either way, she was getting ready to play her usual role of the peacemaker between the vastly different boys. "We've got jobs to do. There's no time for any of your usual nonsense. Either of you."
Jayden breathed out a slight sigh of relief from picking up other bits of food that had somehow made their way from the breakfast bar to behind the living room sofa. I couldn't help but wonder if the magenta haired male was responsible if Justin was accusing him of messing his guitar up too but after watching the Morgan family, I was slowly starting to forget my judgemental side. I was back to being the observer. But I was then the observer who felt unimpressed with the lavender haired male.
"I am not being any kind of nonsensical." Justin couldn't help but insist as he turned on his heel to face his sister instead. He was still holding his beloved guitar by the neck in one of his hands but he folded the other over his chest defiantly. He stuck his nose in the air slightly, much like I had been doing when I was seated on his father's shoulder. "It's all him. You don't even know what he's done to my guitar. He-"
"I could not care less." She informed her twin brother but it was not really in a rude way; it was the manner of that of an almost mother who was taking charge. She gave Justin a firm look after his eyes widened and he folded his arm even further over his chest with hurt. Jaxon let out a few snickers from the adjoining room but he was shut up by Jayden giving him a softer firm look than their sister had given their brother. Then, the dual haired male and the magenta haired one went back to occupying themselves with their jobs while Jazzy let out a sigh and gestured for Justin to give his stringed instrument to her. "C'mon. Give that to me and I'll clean that seeing as I've done all my jobs. Go back to plumping the cushions and leave that with me."
I observed the deep purple haired sixteen year old male pouting ever so slightly and hesitating after the way that his twin sister had spoken to him but after she tilted his head at him encouragingly, he let out a sigh – a grateful sigh – and handed his guitar over to her to clean. She was one of the rare people that he trusted with it. He most certainly didn't trust Jaxon.
All over again, he spun on his heel and strutted across the room. Justin did what he was told and Jazmyn did exactly what she promised. And the lavender haired male finally decided to allow his presence and his company to be known.
"My, my, my, you four certainly are busy this late evening." He commented as he put his small suitcase down on the ground and upon hearing the sound of another voice, all four of the pre to late teenagers looked up. They all had very different reactions. James continued and he managed a slight side smile and hugged Jayden and Jazmyn back as they didn't hesitate to rush over to him and each give him a tight hug. "You better have scrubbed and polished my room ready for my grand return."
It goes without saying that the ex-rocketeer was joking with his children and the dual haired male and the deep purple haired female laughed together at his words and continued hugging him. They enjoyed it when he hugged them back. He held them tight and planted a kiss to each of their foreheads. I tried not to raise my eyebrows at him and give him a knowing look as if to remind him that he had been so hesitant and bitter about leaving the hospital for a few nights.
"There's no point in scrubbing all that to pieces." The deep purple haired male addressed his father from giving the sofa cushions a good pummelling to straighten them out before he looked up at James and had a slight cheeky grin for him. That smile became even more mischievous as he was the third one to join in with the Morgan hugging and reuniting session. "Jaxon will find a way to mess that up."
As I hopped onto the window sill to be close to the radiator to warm up and finally had my nose tilting at its normal level, I noticed that Jaxon had been the child who hadn't joined in with the family hug. He was seemingly occupied with continuing to sort out the takeaway containers on the counter but I knew that that wasn't fully case by the way that he reacted right away upon hearing his big brother's mildly insulting words. He narrowed his eyes over at him and sucked in his cheeks. He then just shrugged.
"There's no point in scrubbing all that to pieces." He repeated the eldest of the brother's words and began raising both his eyebrows instead. He didn't fix his gaze on anybody in particular but they were said with a surprising amount of scathing. He didn't seem bothered when they were well past just the tip of his tongue. "He probably won't be staying long."
"I will be staying for a few days, Jaxon." James told his youngest son before any of the other three could let out or supress their gasps then the lavender haired male stopped hugging them and moved round to come behind the boy who had insulted him greatly. He hadn't seemed to mind too much and that was pretty lucky because the magenta haired male didn't seem to be sorry. James just put both his hands on his son's shoulders from behind and lightly pressed his chin against the back of his head. "You won't be able to get rid of me that easily."
Jaxon moved away from his father after he had received a little bit of affection from him but it wasn't because he was shunning it. As he moved away, he was smirking a fraction to himself, as if he was testing the older male and wanting him to retaliate with adamant words. I noticed this and I knew that Jayden did too.
The sensitive dual haired male gave his father and extra tight hug and felt a little bit calmer than he had done in recent days upon hearing that he would be sticking around for a while but that didn't last very long. More words were added to his sentences but they weren't from the magenta haired male. They were from the lavender haired male himself. Now that his hands weren't occupied with a travel suitcase or his children's faces, one of his fingers was running along the breakfast table to check for dust.
"And it seems like I got back just in time. It's lucky that you four have been giving this place a good old clean - it needs it." The lavender haired male found himself commenting and he had all of his teenager's attention as soon as he said this. Without realising it or intending to, he turned his back on them as he checked the breakfast bar for uncleanliness also. "I noticed the hall floor needs a good vacuuming too when I was walking along it. We're not animals, now, are we?"
All four of the Morgan offspring raised their eyebrows upon hearing this but perhaps it was me whose brows rose the furthest. My eyes widened as well. It wasn't like James was being out-rightly rude or demeaning but it was his calm and passiveness that were allowing his words to have the effect that they were having. It caused the children to all look at one and other and thankfully, even though Jazmyn was one of the most likely to lose her temper, she was also the one who pulled everyone together most frequently. And she was the one to respond to their father.
"Well you're here now to help out, aren't you? We're almost done anyway. We just need to not get distracted." She replied to the lavender haired male and moved away from his side to head over to her twin brother's guitar that she abandoned and picked it up, not letting her promise to him slip away. She held it gingerly to not get the accused Jaxon's fruit residue on her fingers but clutched it respectfully too. "Not everybody has a staff of hotel cleaners."
Jayden was looking a little uneasy and observing all the interactions that were happening within his family but even he couldn't stop himself from smirking over at Justin when he smirked back at him upon hearing their sister's subtle comeback. And it was so subtle or potentially so true that James didn't get annoyed by it and smirked as well when he saw his son's smirking, thinking it was a family thing.
"Hmm well I grew up with everything handed to me and it was a nightmare when I moved out and didn't even know how to use a washing machine. I've never wanted that life for you." The lavender haired male responded to his children airily and Jaxon rolled his eyes while the other three listened. James continued working and showed that, even though he was sometimes moody and passive-aggressive, he was a team player as well. He took a cleaning cloth out of one of the cupboards and started rubbing down the counter tops. "C'mon then. I'd like this all done by bed time and I'm sure you'd like that too."
And with that, all four of the Morgan children, even Jaxon (though after a slight pause), sprang into action. Justin ran his fingers through his long locks and pushed them out of his face to tie back with a hair tie to show he meant business before he cracked on with straightening out the sofa all over again. Jazmyn placed her twin brother's guitar on the coffee table and went down on her knees and began scrubbing it diligently but gently with a special wipe. Jayden resumed leaning down and over the back of the sofa to pick out all the bits of dirt from behind there. And after rolling his eyes a bit longer, Jaxon tried to finish up his job of sorting out all of the takeaway containers.
If it had been any other day, I would've sprang into action and helped as well. I was no longer as mildly childish as I had been when we first entered the room and I put it down to James receiving sly digs from both Jazmyn and Jaxon. I knew it was partially that but it wasn't just that. Seeing the Morgan's working together dysfunctionally yet functionally made me miss my own Ketchum family. However, it wasn't the sad or melancholy kind of miss. It was an uplifting one. And I knew I would be so very glad to be reunited with them in the morning.
For quite some time, the four Morgan teenagers and their father worked well together in getting just two of the rooms up to its usual standard. Justin continued making the sofa and the armchairs look as presentable as he could, though a good chunk of his attention was taken up with watching his twin sister spruce up his guitar.
Jazmyn did exactly this for her twin brother and after doing so and placing it carefully back against the wall, she even started sorting out the sofas for him too so he could find another job. Jayden got in all of the cracks behind the sofa and made it spotless. Jaxon was finishing the only job he had been trusted to do that evening.
But it was obvious that he hadn't been doing it to the highest degree when someone strode over to him with his hands in his hoodie pockets, letting out a loud sigh and pointing.
"You're doing that wrong, you know." Justin informed his youngest brother and right away, Jaxon's head snapped up and he shot him a glare. The deep purple haired male just looked back at him and in that moment, both his hands came out of his hoodie pockets. He was gesturing to his brother's separate recycling and trash piles instead. "You've got at least half a dozen recyclables in the trash pile. Make sure you do it right."
This alone was enough to make the magenta haired male's cheeks match his face but if that wasn't bad enough, their lavender haired father had his backs to the boys and while Justin shook his head and picked cereal boxes out of Jaxon's wrong pile, James said words that seemingly agreed with him.
"You guys need to learn to put stuff away correctly. I've found more cereal boxes left on the side than I can count on one hand." He informed anybody who was listening as he continued holding the cupboard door open with one hand and using the other to stuff cereal packets inside, separating the ones that had been opened from the ones that had been unopened. "You're a bunch of cereal killers."
Despite the obvious oncoming rage that Jaxon was about to experience, Jayden smirked at their father's terrible joke and Jazmyn did too, covering her mouth with her hand. Justin didn't have the time to smirk or laugh himself because he was too busy shoving the magenta haired male's hands away from messing it all up again as he separated the family's rubbish into the correct piles.
"Yeah, Jaxon's to blame for that." The deep purple haired male said automatically and this caused the pre-teen and youngest of the Morgan boy's to show off an expression that was even more annoyed. He began to grab at Justin's hands and arms all over again and that time, it wasn't in an interfering away. It was like he was really trying to pick a fight with him. But luckily for everyone, James turned around and Jaxon quickly stopped and tried to take long breaths to cool down before he got told off even more.
"Actually you're to blame for this, Justin." The lavender haired male informed his eldest son and he raised an eyebrow at him but then had a slightly bemused expression for him. He even took one of the cereal boxes out of the cupboard after he had arranged it all for the sake of lightly bashing Justin over the head with it. "You're the biggest cereal killer I know."
That time, Jazmyn, Jayden and Justin all laughed upon hearing this and the deep purple haired male even playfully winked too. He snatched the cereal box off his father and pretended to whack him back with it before he stuffed it in the cupboard in the correct place and shut the door with a playful slam. James just shook his head and showed off a side smirk and went back to scrubbing the counter tops with a cloth.
As Jayden finished off what he was doing for good and Jazmyn did too and Justin resumed finishing Jaxon's job for him and making a very huge point about it all, the lavender haired male was the one to break the silence all over again. He said words in a mumble and in quite the airy way but it didn't sit that way with Jaxon. It didn't sit that way with him at all.
"Seriously, how do you guys live like this? There's food everywhere." He commented, his right hand moving side to side quickly as he scrubbed and his left hand being used to pick up unused coffee mugs and held them until one of his children took them off him and put them away themselves. He shook his head, glancing around at all of them and it was by chance that his gaze fixed on Jaxon. "Where has your mother got to anyway?"
"I think she's having a bath in the bathroom. She-" Jazmyn tried to answer their father seeing as he asked them all a question but she didn't have time. The magenta haired male had become increasingly annoyed at Justin's point proving (and perhaps jerk-ish) actions and upon hearing James' words, he finally snapped.
"Do you have to be such a dick?" Jaxon just asked in a level tone and after all three of his siblings breathed out his name in horror and James' eyes just remained fixed and unreadable on him, the youngest of the boys persisted. His cheeks were flushing with anger and defensiveness and for good measure he snatched one of the recyclables of Justin and threw it on the floor. "You are being such a dick! You just come in here after not living here for over and month and just criticise how we live and everything that we haven't done! Are we expected to be glad you're back? I'm not! Don't look down on us! And definitely do not look down on our Mom!"
And with that, Jaxon stamped his foot firmly against the plastic milk bottle that he had chucked on the floor. What followed all of that was a dreadful silence. In the moment, I wasn't too surprised by the outburst and perhaps I was still rather stupefied from being in our hospital bubble for so long. But looking back, I can remember the chill that went down my spine and all of the looks that the other three of the Morgan children gave one and other.
In that moment, I was half expecting Justin to be the one to break that silence with yet another of his almost paternal telling offs. But it wasn't him. It wasn't Justin to break the silence. It wasn't the deep purple haired male. It was the actual father to do so.
You could see from the lavender haired male's slight flushing cheekbones that he was hurt by his youngest son's words but he knew not to get too heated when it came to him. On top of that, he was still probably quite dazed from the hospital bubble too. He just simply shook his head and resumed scrubbing at the counter top. Upon seeing their father doing this, Jazmyn, Jayden and Justin cleared their throats half-awkwardly and tried to carry on as well.
"I'm not looking down at any of you. And I am definitely not looking down at your Mom." He informed all of the children and of course Jaxon in particular but he didn't feel the need to look at him. His words were meant to be enough. They were said in a truthful and calm and level tone. But he went back to shaking his head though he didn't look at his youngest son. "I'm not looking down at anyone. I don't look down at people. I'm-"
"Just a dick." Jaxon finished for him by repeating and he ignored his oldest brother putting a firm hand on his shoulder and he shook it away and approached his father on shaky legs. In fact, he almost attempted to square up to him. He knocked any trash or recyclables that were getting in his way as he insisted. "You don't bother coming back here to us! You make us all come over to you and visit! And when you finally come home, you just criticise! Well go away! We don't need you! And we haven't needed you for a long time! Go back to your perfect hospital world!"
The magenta haired pre-teen boy's eyes were starting to prick with angry and hurt tears and it was because of this that perhaps Justin tried to stop grabbing hold of his shoulder. He just let him go. He just let him do whatever. He just had to hope that it worked out for the best. Even though he was the type of person to always be bickering with him, he was the type of person to be guiding him as well. But he just had to let him go. He just had to let him be. He just had to allow their father to react to him in the way that he saw fit and he had to allow him to get angry if he needed to too. But he didn't.
The lavender haired male didn't square up to his son back but his own eyes stung with tears. And his words were said with enough emotion that he didn't need to be nose to nose with the youngest male. He didn't even need to raise his voice either.
"Oh, you think that it's perfect, do you? Yes, it was so damn perfect in that hospital room. For weeks I had to think that my best friend was going to die. So yes, you're right. It was the greatest fucking time of my life." James retorted back to his son in a calm yet emotional way and after he was done with his affecting words, he turned away from Jaxon. He turned away from all of his children.
Needless to say, a lump quickly filled my throat upon hearing these words and like how it felt when I was in a heated battle and knew I had to dodge an attack or I'd get deeply hurt, I suddenly felt the urge to run. I suddenly felt the urge to run. It came on so quickly that I was surprised by it but after I breathed in and out for a few seconds and collected my thoughts, my feelings weren't so shocking. I was reminded of Misty. And I was reminded how lucky we were to still have her. And on top of that, I was reminded by how much I wanted to be with her.
Almost as soon as the lavender haired male had said some brutally honest words to his son and everybody else was listening, Jazmyn stopped observing the brewing tension and wrapped her arm around Jayden's shoulders and ushered him out of the room before he got too upset. The deep purple haired female looked back at her twin brother to follow but he wasn't looking at her. He was looking between the scene. He was looking between his respectable father and his youngest brother. And for once, he didn't know whose side he was on. But it was obvious that he might have to pick one with what happened next.
While his father had his back to him, the magenta haired male suddenly lunged at him and started whacking him with his pre-teen strength, even more tears pooling his eyes. He tried to yell through gritted teeth. He tried to hurt as much as he could.
"Don't ever look down at our Mom! Don't you ever again!" Jaxon started those words up again even though the lavender haired male had denied them. And despite the fact that James had previously disagreed with his son's words, he didn't try to dodge his smacks. He winced and his eyes and his face were full of emotional hurt but he took each and every one of them. "She's been looking after us all on her own! She's doing great! She's doing so great! She deserves better! She deserves better than you! You don't deserve her!"
"Jeez, Jaxon, stop it!" the deep purple male finally decided to intervene when he saw one of his father's tears slide down to his cheeks and he moved between both of the male's, trying to grab his little brother's hands so he had to stop whacking his father. This only filled Jaxon with even more frustrated emotion and he tried to use his fist that time and towards his other family member instead. Both Justin and I were deeply shocked with the words that came next from the lavender haired male.
"Go, Justin, just go! I'm fine!" James didn't yell but he spoke to his son firmly. I thought once again and I thought wrong by believing that the deep purple haired male wouldn't hear the words nor respond to him. I was stood corrected. His head snapped up right away when he was addressed and almost as if he was finally realising that Jazmyn had been looking at him to follow them, he finally did so. He gulped and furrowed his brow at what was happening within his family but he left the room, deciding to just have faith that they'd both eventually settle down.
It didn't seem like Jaxon was coming close to that outcome as he went back to shoving his father in the chest, his face crumpled up with defiance and his eyes pricking with tears of hurt. It was suspected that Justin was the man of the house since James had spent so long in the hospital but due to his relationship with his mother, Jaxon almost felt like the title belonged to him.
"Just go! Just go away! That's what you do best! You don't deserve her! You don't deserve our Mom! You don't come home! You don't care! You've forgotten her! You've forgotten us!"
"Jaxon Isaac Morgan…" the lavender haired male breathed out and as his son's tearful emotions started to get the better of him, his pummels and his slaps became much more feeble. So James took this opportunity to shakily go down onto his knees and look right at his twelve year old son's face. He took a chance by slowly reaching his hands out to cup his face. "I have not forgotten her. I have not forgotten you. I have not forgotten anybody. Buddy… She's fine. I think you're the one who is worried more than she is. She's my best friend. She's my best friend and my wife and she understands. She knows that I'm needed elsewhere. But she knows that I always come back. She knows that. I'm a very lucky man, Jaxon."
"You are." Jaxon nodded his head and scrunched his face up even more as if to let his father know that he wasn't allowed to forget it and following this, he tried to wriggle away from him so he could fiercely rub the tears from his eyes. James just swallowed and watched and after those two boys met eyes all over again, the magenta haired male seemed to forget his act of trying to be brave. His blue orbs watered yet another time and his bottom lip trembled. "She misses you. She wants you around."
And almost as soon as he said these words, Jaxon looked down at the ground. And because James was cupping his son's face in his hands and he knew him so very well, he knew exactly what they meant. He understood that he couldn't just come out and say them. But he said them in his own, unique way.
"I know you do, buddy. I missed you too…" he told him and he took another brave chance by stopping holding Jaxon's face and wrapping his arms around him to hug him instead. As if he was exhausted from all the fighting and protectiveness and emotion, the twelve year old boy flopped against his father's arms. His expression still showing a hint of stubbornness but that was just him. James' hand went to the back of his hair and he stroked it lightly as he held him close. He shut his own eyes. "Jessie is my best friend but you are too. I have a lot of making up to do and I will do exactly that…"
"You better…" Jaxon mumbled and like how his personality was short but intense, he liked his hugs to be that way too. After not much time at all, he pulled away from his father and looked right at him. I watched as the lavender haired male found himself laughing slightly despite it all and saying 'what?' at his son's words before he had the chance to clarify. Jaxon wiped his nose with the length of his finger and he spoke through stubborn and pouty lips. "You can make it up to me right here and right now. You can go and see her. You can go and see Mom. That would make me feel better."
Jaxon told his father and with that, he kept up his adamant and defiant but sniffling expression and closed his eyes as he gave James another brief hug by simply resting his chin on his shoulder before he pulled away and headed on his way. Needless to say, he didn't pick up the rubbish that he had knocked over on the way. That was another thing that he had left James to do and he was okay with it.
Though the ex-rocketeer was still slightly in shock and had a lump in his throat from everything that his youngest son had expressed to him, he was refreshed and even slightly soothed by how direct and demanding he was. He knew exactly what to do.
He found himself shaking his head slowly but he picked all of the rubbish off the floor and put them in the correct bins before he too was on his own way. He completely forgot about me but for once, I didn't hold it against him. He was putting his family first. And that was something that I was going to do in a very short amount of time.
But first of all, I followed him. First of all, I followed the lavender haired male and though I didn't follow him the entire way, I observed him putting the palm of his hand against all of his children's bedroom doors before he headed into the one where he knew his wife would be.
He had been informed that she was in the bathroom having some relaxation time but quite a while had passed since then. And like how Jessie knew that he would come back no matter how far or for how long he wandered, he seemed to know exactly where she was at all times. Slowly but certainly, he pushed open the bedroom door and headed inside. He knew that Jaxon's words and defences were completely true and he understood them even more when he saw his wife.
The magenta haired woman had fallen asleep reading one of the books that their eldest son had recommended to her and as if he had been popped from the hospital bubble that he was previously in, James didn't hesitate to hold a hand to his heart. He clutched at his chest, he clutched at his t shirt as he watched. But soon enough, he didn't just want to watch. He wanted to be close.
Just as slowly and carefully and gently but certainly as he had opened the door, he crept softly along the floor towards the edge of the bed before he slid on it next to his wife. His eyes didn't leave her. He waited for her own to snap open but they didn't. Though she had fallen asleep sitting up and still had the book in her hand, she was clearly fast asleep after a day of hard work and her and her husband's company while being an attentive mother too. James found himself swallowing and that was expected and he reached over to take the book from her fingers so she could get comfier too. That was another thing that was expected.
Jessie began to stir just a little and while I watched from the doorway but didn't get comfy, she absentmindedly moved herself down into a laying position before she rolled over onto her side. James took the opportunity to turn her bedside lamp off there and then and move even closer to her, wrapping his arms around her from behind and holding her close. He shut his own eyes while she drifted further off to sleep and pressed soft kisses to her shoulder while she experienced dreamland. Even though he was beginning to grow choked up with emotion over everything that had been said between him and his son, he knew one thing that was for certain.
He had never forgotten her. He would never forget her. She was his best friend. She was his home. And now that he was back by her side and out of the hospital bubble, he was well and truly home. I smiled a little bit to myself. I was happy for him. But I didn't want to stay. I had my own home to go to. So as James pulled Jessie even closer to him and he held her properly for what felt like the first time in forever, I sauntered back down the Morgan halls. And I headed back home myself. I headed back to the Ketchums' who were not expecting me. And like how the lavender haired male felt, I was well and truly home when I was in the arms of all of my own true family.
The End.
There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 Since developing Justin way more, in turn that's also filled out his siblings a little more as well. As you can see here and as I might have mentioned before, Justin and Jaxon don't really get on all of the time. Their personalities are vastly different and Justin's bossiness definitely comes out when it comes to him. Which of course fires up a quite intense Jaxon even more! I like that you can see the different qualities of the various children in this chapter. Jazmyn does have her mother's temper but she can control it a lot better. She's also a bit of a peace maker. This compares to Justin who is much more laid back most of the time but can kick off! Jayden is the sensitive one and doesn't like the bickering at all. And of course Jaxon is the one who is most likely to lose control and express his emotions through fiery behaviour. But he's very caring and protective too. I kind of like Pikachu in this chapter. It's a good example of how he's not perfect all the time and can let his feelings get the better of him as much as anyone! Thanks again for reading and I hope you enjoyed. I will be back again next Wednesday so see you then :3
