Hello :P It is Thursday and I am back with a new chapter! I was meant to upload yesterday of course but I had been up late the night before writing a very long story so I wanted to have a break and let my ideas settle. But I am back today and I'm excited about this one. This chapter introduces another new character. She has been mentioned by name a lot and probably this time last year, she was very clear to me and I was doing lots of work on her character and backstory. But then I got sidetracked with developing Justin! But now I've finally written a chapter to introduce her. I hope you enjoy :3
Disclaimer: I own the story and the OCs mentioned :P
I looked out the window and let out a quiet sigh to myself, my nose pressed against the cold glass. I always found myself being far away from the physical essence of home. Since meeting my best friend Ash, I had travelled all over the regions with him and our friends. We were never in the same place for very long at all. But quickly, he and they all became my home, even if I didn't have a physical attachment to one place.
Time had moved on from that moment. Most of them had settled down. I had too. I of course had settled with the Ketchum's. But despite finding a physical and emotional loving home with them all, even when I was away from them for a night or two, I still felt that twinge of belonging. Yes, I was lucky to belong everywhere. And I was lucky to feel belonging in everyone.
I continued looking out the window and thinking these thoughts as the Morgan twins finally decided to trudge into their joint bedroom for the night. I knew that I had been asked by both their parents and Lynne too before she had to go up that I was to keep a watchful eye on the four younger children. That had been a bit of a task – they were always moving in and out of places! But that was okay. Their vigour kept me spritely as well.
But seeing as it was nearing night time, I knew I could finally start to relax. I didn't have to watch them so closely. I could look out at the setting summer sky if I chose to. Someone else had the children's best interests at heart.
Justin and Jazmyn came into their bedroom together, clad in their pyjamas; I could see from the reflection in the window. I made the most of that before the curtains were closed for the night. They were alone. And because they were alone, they were making the most of being alone. They both made a beeline for the fireplace in their bedroom and squatted down in front of it. After they both looked around together almost suspiciously and the boy of the twins especially so, they began whispering together.
It was inaudible to me though I was rather close to them. Their heads were close together as they were whispering. No doubt that they were sharing something important. I wondered what it was but still I didn't think on it too hard. I just smiled to myself. It was probably something unimportant to me but it was important to them. And that was all that mattered. They kept up their whispering even after they stopped being alone.
"My, my, my, that brother of yours really does have quite some energy, doesn't he?" the amethyst hair coloured woman found herself commenting as she entered her room, letting out a somewhat weary breath but a recovering one nonetheless. She fixed her hair also, it still falling over half her face. I finally stopped looking out the window and observed the scene instead. I felt the need to keep a sharper eye out. The woman seemingly felt the same way as she quickly noticed the twin children whispering. She withheld a smirk. "If you do insist on whispering like that then could you please do it louder? I rather like secrets."
Jazmyn was the first to stop pressing her head against her brother's and understood the humour in the older female's words and giggled to herself, her hand pressing over her mouth. Justin, on the other hand, wasn't as inclined to giggles. He moved away from his twin sister too but furrowed his brow, as wary of the older female as I was. She caught onto this right away and stopped smirking at her own words, just giving him an authoritative glance back. I watched.
It had been rather out of the blue that both Jessie and James had been needed for a late night business venture but it wasn't to worry at all because Misty's mother, Lynne, had been down for the past week and staying with her daughter and future son in law. But it turned out there was something to worry about.
Like how it sadly and confusedly happened sometimes, Lynne suddenly had to go back up unexpectedly and with Jordan too. Jessie and James had already left their four younger children in the orange haired female's care. I was there but it was almost a disaster. Thankfully, Lynne had been able to act quickly and find a last minute sitter for the children – I hadn't known how she managed to pull that off really.
But either way, there had been care for the children. I had my protective eyes on when it was the orange haired female from 'up there' minding them simply because it was natural for me. I knew I didn't have to really worry about anything at all. But there was a new woman minding the four youngest Morgan children. I was fair enough to keep my distance. But I was firm enough to always be watching. Justin was very much the same way as me.
After Jazmyn continued giggling at the older female's amusing words for a few more seconds, they soon died down and she uncovered her mouth when she saw her twin brother still giving her reluctant glances. She shoved him lightly to get his attention. She frowned at him. He didn't relent. He went back to whispering. About their mysterious new minder.
"She's tricky." The deep purple haired male insisted with a firm single nod of his head and a crease coming in between his youthful eyes. Once Jazmyn rolled her own eyes at her twin brother, they both went back to looking over at the amethyst haired female. Justin whispered all over, elaborating what he meant with a shrug. "You never know what she's thinking."
And with that, as he subtly tilted his head towards the mysterious woman and studied her as I had been doing as well, in return she gave him that same authoritative look. But following that, she held back a smirk all over and somewhat tellingly tucked her hair behind her, revealing one of her ears. Justin quietly gasped, thinking that she knew that they were discussing her. He quickly looked away. And the woman openly smirked but moved to the other side of the room to fold their discarded clothes up. And despite her subtle mischief, to give them privacy too.
I breathed out at the same time as the deep purple haired boy did. Jazmyn didn't really see it at all but I saw where he was coming from. It was natural for him to be cautious about a new care giver that they had never met before but even I felt like it wasn't just that. That woman had only been in the house a few hours and most of it had been taken up with dinner time and then bath and bed time. But even so, none of us felt like we really knew her. And in the same breathe, she felt oddly familiar too.
Perhaps it was because she had been chosen by Lynne. Yes, we knew we could very much trust her and her instincts. Jazmyn pointed this out to her brother, deciding to reassure him in case he really was worried.
"It doesn't matter what she's thinking. Lynne chose her for us and she wouldn't do anything if she was even a little bit worried." The deep purple haired female told the fellow shaded boy with a small smile. He tried to smile back but still needed a little more convincing. Thankfully, the female reached out and squeezed his hand briefly. "She wasn't worried. So you don't need to be either."
The long haired young boy finally managed a small smile back. Out of habit he glanced back over to the amethyst haired woman while she was folding up their clothes for them seemingly out of earshot before he looked back at his sister. He nodded his head in response to her words and despite the fact that I saw him absorbing them; he still wrinkled his nose and uttered.
"You're right. But I'd feel even better if Daddy picked her out. He has an eye for that kind of thing." He said with a shrug and stopped squatting with Jazzy by the fireplace, sitting down on his bottom instead and crossing his legs over each other. He played with his feet.
The mysterious minder looked up upon hearing this, I saw her. She was folding the little boy's school uniform shirt in her hands as she was holding it. However, she almost dropped it when both of the children stopped whispering as quietly and spoke in a more normal indoor voice. She couldn't stop herself from turning on her heel and coming over to the both of them. Her face didn't seemingly change much at all but her eyebrow rose for me to see.
"Ah yes, your father does have an eye for picking out people, doesn't he? Especially women." She commented and of course, right away upon hearing the older woman interrupting their conversation, Justin frowned all over again. But Jazmyn did as well. She didn't understand her words at all. They confused her. They confused her even more as time passed. The special sitter just shrugged, smoothing out Justin's school shirt as she folded it. "He seems to trust that Lynne quite a lot."
"We all do." The male twin responded quickly and as he stood up onto his feet, it goes without saying that he was continuing to frown. Like his twin sister, he didn't understand all of the amethyst haired woman's words but he could almost feel the negative energy in them. He tilted his head once more. "We all trust Lynne. She looks after us well."
The mysterious minder could feel the little boy's eyes burning into her as she finished folding his shirt and put it on the chair at the end of the bed. She looked away from him to do that but then she looked at him, tilting her head back. She paused.
I could tell that she didn't regret saying the words – whatever they meant. She didn't take them back. But even so, she moved on. She smoothed down her own white shirt that she was wearing and showed off a firm but easy smile.
"Well that's good but I'm looking after you tonight, aren't I?" she asked and following hearing this, Jazzy couldn't help but slowly nod as she stood up with her brother. The deep purple haired boy of the twins didn't nod his head but he looked to the floor. That was enough for the minder. She was in control even if they were unsure. I had no doubt that she was used to dealing with that kind of situation if she was a last minute nanny. But even so, I remained close to both of the children. The teal eye coloured female waved a light-hearted hand. "Into bed now you two. I'm not going to have to struggle with you two as much as that youngest brother of yours, am I?"
I glanced over at Justin before I finally hopped down from the window sill and landed on the floor, preparing to look between the two children's beds and decide which one I wanted to curl up on for the night. The similarly teal orbed male but mixed with a green hue tried to furrow his brow protectively but after seeing the minder hold her hand out to Jazmyn and she took hold of it to be lead over to bed, he trotted off to his own side of the room and couldn't help but smirk slightly. He scrunched his nose up.
"No. No one gives anyone trouble like our little brother Jaxon does." He told her and he craned his neck behind him, talking to the older female as she lead his twin sister to bed. He took his time getting there. Their new minder openly smirked slightly at his words and nodded her head and then she tilted her head. Yes, she could see that.
She continued holding onto Jazmyn's hand as she helped her under the covers. It was then that I decided to hop onto the end of the deep purple haired female's bed and curl up there. As I did so, I couldn't help but wonder who was reluctant to give up whose hand. The mysterious woman had a delayed response to the nine year old boy.
"I believe you, Justin." She acknowledged with a straight face but an amused glint in her eyes. That was something I was started to become familiar with. She always had a bit of joy and mischief in her eyes. Justin was right that she was rather unreadable. But perhaps that was because we were both so wary. If we both let those little guards down, I got the feeling that we might find a lot of likeability under the surface. While the woman watched the young boy head over to bed himself and peel his covers back, after tucking Jazmyn's covers under her chin, she questioned Justin. "Did you not want me to tuck you in as well?"
The deep purple haired female looked very cosy indeed. Though I couldn't see her mouth from being hidden under the covers, from her eyes too, I could tell they were most definitely smiling. Her orbs had a very similar glint to the amethyst hair coloured woman. I curled up by Jazmyn's feet. Justin twitched his feet under the covers. He openly shook his head.
"No thank you. I don't really know you." He responded with a twitch of his nose and a shrug as well, climbing under the covers all by himself. He Justin didn't try and conceal his thoughts at all! He didn't try and hide his impressions like the mysterious minder. Justin had the same glint in her eyes as her. Interesting.
However, after hearing the way that her twin brother rejected the teal orbed female so, the only glint that Jazzy had in her eyes was embarrassment. It was possible that I was the only one that had the notion that the older female did look a little bit hurt upon hearing this. Either way, the deep purple haired young girl moved the covers from being quite so tucked up against her chin, her eyes widening. She sat up and bluffed.
"Justin means we hardly know you at all and would like to get to know you more." Jazmyn hurriedly explained and though her eyes were wide and blinking and she said this to try and conceal her brother's abruptness, there was some truth in there too. And because his twin sister didn't even waste her energy with shooting him a look, Justin quietened down with regret. Jazmyn simply continued while the minder glanced between them both, pushing her hair from her eyes before making sure it went back to covering her face. "Tell us more. We only know your name."
I nodded my head absentmindedly, my chin resting on the end of the bed so I was near to Jazmyn but keeping an eye on Justin at the other side of the room too. It was true. We had been introduced to the amethyst hair coloured woman and got to know her as Missy. I shrugged. I guess that sort of suited her. It was rather unexpected but maybe that was her all over. She did have a playful streak under the surface that I was curious to see more of after not being as wary.
Missy tried to give Jazmyn a friendly but firm dismissive glance and wave of the hand but she couldn't stop herself from softening upon hearing her words. She definitely did have an affinity towards her. Though she did secretly almost admire how wary and determined Justin was, she found the little girl very endearing. But that wasn't surprising at all. Lots of people felt that way about the Morgan's youngest daughter.
The older woman reached out and lightly tucked a bit of loose hair behind the young girl's ear before going back to trying to be dismissive. She smiled.
"There is no need for any of that. Lights out and bed time is the only thing that you should be curious about. Who knows what you're going to dream, right?" Missy asked and she tried to distract the children but understandably, they were having none of that. In fact, he words were making them all the more curious! Even Justin. He stretched his legs out under the covers and sat up himself, recovering from his silent regret.
"We should know some stuff about you." He paused. He started to run his fingers through his hair and after realising that he would have to sort his locks out himself seeing as his father wasn't around and Missy hadn't been instructed to do that, he reached for his brush himself. And as he began combing his own hair, Justin added with a shrug. "How long have you been minding kids?"
In the middle of catching on that she should probably do the same for Jazmyn that Justin was doing for himself and starting to brush the girl's own deep purple haired locks, she opened her mouth to answer the boy of the twins. But then she furrowed her brow and shut her mouth. I assumed that it was because Jazmyn interrupted her. But in retrospect, I remembered the slight lump in her throat.
"Have you been minding kids for ages? And do you want to do it forever?" Jazmyn questioned with a smile and she looked up at the older woman with innocent eyes while she had her hair brushed for her. She let out a slight sigh. It was her first time getting a proper up close look at the mysterious minder. She was pretty. No one was pretty like her Mom and Lynne, she thought, but she could come a close second. She seemed tough. But she seemed kind too. However, the trait that she admired the most in the older woman was that she was patient enough to deal with not only Jaxon at dinner time but Justin's stubbornness too.
Missy breathed out at feeling the child's innocent yet soft eyes so intensely on her. But perhaps she was good under pressure. And perhaps she even thrived like that, who could know? Either way, she suddenly showed off a playful grin at the deep purple haired girl and touched the end of her nose, finishing brushing her locks.
"Who says it isn't my first time?" she asked secretly as she tilted her head and then she glanced around the room to include Justin as well. She even looked over at me. I looked back. I finally felt approvingly. Then after looking at Jazmyn all over again, she touched her own forehead mischievously, raising her eyebrows. "I could have done many, many important jobs, you know? I could be a secret agent."
I smiled to myself when, upon hearing this, Jazmyn let out a soft gasp and her teal orbs mixed with more of a blue hue to her brother widened innocently. She seemingly believed her! And like it was so very common within the twins I knew, Justin contrasted his sister's reaction by openly laughing. He had since stopped brushing his own locks and was lying back in bed, his arms behind his head as he looked up at the ceiling. He continued giggling to himself.
"Yeah, she could be an astronaut, Jaz. She could be an astronaut!"
And upon hearing this, Missy let out a sigh and tried to mumble 'really, Justin' but after hearing his continuous giggles to himself, she couldn't help but smirk along with him. And after softening all the more at Jazmyn's wide eyes and her own eyes smiling wistfully, she got up off the end of the young girl's bed and went to sit on Justin's instead. He surprised us all by not protesting.
"You know what? You could be so very right." The mysterious minder Missy responded to the young boy and she wanted to reach and tuck a loose strand of hair behind his ear but she knew not to press it. It was good that he was finally engaging with her to any amount. He stopped giggling upon hearing her words and got ready to listen. This was fortunate because she cupped her balled fists under her chin. "Just this morning I conducted my very own mission to the moon. I got there in not long time at all and had a lovely space walk over lunch. But I got here in time to look after you two. Wonderful, isn't it?"
Justin went back to giggling heartily, his arms still behind his head. He knew that she was joking along with him, he just knew it. While he did often enjoy his father and his mother's colourful fantasies too, he had become an expert in spotting them. But that didn't stop him from enjoying them. His laughter at Missy died down long enough to add his own amusement.
"If I was in space I would play my records so loud! There would be no one around to hear it. Except for me, of course, but I would love it!" he insisted rather energetically for him and sat back up in bed to prove his point. He almost flung his arms everywhere so the amethyst haired minder had to firmly but carefully tuck them back under the covers. However, her eyes were still filled with amusement. She reminded him.
"Well I might be around on one of my space walks and I should like to keep my hearing, thank you very much." She told him and she even reached out to playfully poke his ear lobe. He shivered and curled his head against his shoulder but he giggled again even so. And after just patting his knee under the covers, Missy stood up off the end of the bed and went back to sit next to Jazmyn again. She had noticed she had gone quiet. She peered down at her, fixing her covers all over. "And what do you think my secret and special job is?"
Jazzy remained quiet and thoughtful. Though she smiled up at the older female when she returned to her, she couldn't help but take the time to think carefully about her answer. She picked at her fingers underneath the covers as she took a few seconds before finally answering. And then she shrugged. She looked right at Missy as she answers. She smiled in a somewhat grown-up way.
"A mommy." She replied to her and I wondered if she noticed the way that Missy's eyes changed. No, she was far too young, surely. But that was potentially naïve of me to assume. Children often picked up on the things that grown-ups didn't. I personally put it down to them not having adult things and responsibilities to worry about so they had more time to observe that kind of thing. And not only that, they weren't too clouded by life to see things a bit more clearly.
I most certainly did see the teal orbed female's eyes change. I swallowed carefully as I wondered why. I wondered and I wondered and I wondered but I came to no particular conclusion. Perhaps I would if I had the time. But I simply didn't have the time at all. Mainly because Justin started giggling all over again. He sat up in bed and looked over at his twin sister. He started being playful with her.
"A mummy? A mummy?" he pretended to question in a high pitched voice and after laughing some more and not seeing Jazmyn's baffled frown, he flopped backwards in bed and started doing imitation and slightly robotic arm movements. That's how he explained himself. "Help me. My bits have been put into a jar."
The deep purple haired female finally caught onto her twin brother's antics. She rolled her eyes because a huge part of her was worried that Jayden would hear and get scared. That was the last thing that their new minder needed! But thankfully, she just gave Jazmyn a reassuring look and gave Justin that authoritative one and he stopped with his impersonation. He did, of course, go back to childishly giggling. Missy couldn't hold her words in that time.
"Really, Justin." She uttered as she stood up off Jazzy's bed and went back over to the deep purple haired boy in his, noticing that he had accidentally flung his duvet off his body in the middle of his scary mummy impersonation. Missy shook her head at him but her eyes were still glinting a fraction. She sighed. She uttered in hidden bemusement. "Are you sure you're not as much of a handful as Jaxon?"
Missy asked him and with that, she got the opportunity to tuck him down in bed. He surprised me by keeping up his chuckling for a few more seconds but following that, he started to yawn while their minder absentmindedly hummed as she got him comfy and ready for the night. She breathed out and her hums came to a stop as he briefly shut his eyes.
She had only known the children a few hours but she secretly was so very fond of them. Maybe a part of her felt as though she had known them for a lot longer. Maybe she secretly had known them all for a lot longer than they realised.
Missy looked down at Justin while he had his eyes closed and because she was showing off being deep in thought, she hadn't realised that Jazmyn had crept out of bed. In fact, I didn't realise it myself until the older female noticed as well. I should have. But the truth was, I was too busy wondering if she was familiar to me after all.
Justin's eyes fluttered open all over again as the amethyst haired female eventually noticed that the young girl had snuck out of bed. She stood up off the bed and smoothed down her white shirt and skirt too and after a tiny scan of the room, she saw that she had moved over to the window that I had previously been looking out of. Missy walked behind her and breathed out.
"Hey." She mumbled as she joined her looking out into the world. Justin rolled onto his side and rested his cheek on his flat palm but tiredness was beginning to take over him. He still managed to hold in a yawn. Jazmyn managed not to jump at the older woman's presence. Her hand lightly went onto the little girl's back. "It's my job to close the curtains. Now I'll have to do that and tuck you back in bed. I am going to sleep well tonight."
Jazzy could sense the airiness in Missy's voice but after she turned around to face her and look up at her, she could see it as well. She was smiling slightly down at her. The young girl didn't hesitate to smile gently back at her. But she moved out of her hold. She moved out of her hold and looked further out the window.
"Sorry." She mumbled and because Missy heard an apology, she blinked somewhat. She moved down to kneel by the window to be closer to the child's level. She intended on finding why on earth she said this word. But before she could ask, Jazmyn explained. She shrugged. Her eyes were fixed permanently on the sky. Her eyes were fixed rather wistfully on the summer setting sky, showing off all kinds of beautiful colours. The child almost whispered. "It looks like my grandmother out there."
While Justin didn't think much of this at all and drifted into his own thoughts, beginning to relax in bed, it was the amethyst haired woman who's expression did all of the changing. I saw it all. Not only did her eyes fill with shock but seemingly, every part of her body did too. Her breath hitched in her throat, if I wasn't mistaken, her eyes pricked with tears a little bit too.
Jazmyn heard her off-guard gasp and got ready to apologise all over again. But before she could do that, Missy composed herself and softly put her hand back on her back. She tried to look right at her but she couldn't. So she lightly pressed her cheek against the top of the young girl's head instead.
"Why would you say that?" she asked her and she couldn't ask her much else. Fortunately, this was enough. This was most certainly enough for Jazmyn. After swallowing quietly and twitching her feet slightly, wondering if it should be kept a secret or not, she finally answered. She breathed out. She didn't look away from the setting Kanto sky and all of its beautiful, mysterious hues of blues and purples too. And she explained.
"That's what me and my Mommy always say. We've always thought the goodnight sky and the good morning sky sometimes looks like my grandmother. She's not here anymore. But sometimes she is out there."
Missy slowly stood back up to her full height but her hand remained on Jazmyn. Her hand slid from her back and resided on her shoulder instead. I wondered who that hand was there for comfort. I watched as the older female swallowed and finally pushed most of her hair from her eyes. I was far too focused on seeing everything that I was seeing. I watched her compose herself.
Jazmyn heard her silence and felt her move to her full height and feel further away from her. She turned to look up at her almost solemnly. To her child self, her reaction was seemingly like she didn't know what to say. And it seemed as though she didn't know how she felt at all.
"Do… Do you not know what it's like to not have someone around?" she asked in a voice that could very easily melt and break a heart in one. Such innocence. Such complete innocence. It was so very sad that a lot of the children I knew grew up with people not being there for them like it was a completely normal thing. Well, it was a completely normal thing. But it was sad nonetheless. I watched with sympathetic eyes as I continued to listen. Missy breathed out. She had to compose herself all over. She reached out to softly push a bit of Jazmyn's hair from her eyes. She smiled quietly.
"I… I do know what that's like. But to tell you the truth, I think I'm the one that went missing from their life." She uttered and after Jazmyn blinked and looked away, hearing the wistfulness of her words and needing a minute to look at her feet and think about it, Missy showed off a brave smile instead and reached for her hand. "But you're very right you know. You're very clever. No one is gone forever. The people who are gone are always around. You just have to know where to look."
"They go to a place that not everyone can reach but everyone can imagine." Justin surprised both of the girls by piping up with closed eyes and still laying on his side, sleepily reminded the both of them as Missy lead Jazmyn back to bed and tucked her in one more time. She smoothed down her hair and her covers too. She looked at the girl first and agreed with her brothers words. And then, though she stayed sitting on Jazzy's bed, she looked over at Justin and gave him a nod too. He added, his eyes shutting all over. "Like in dreams…"
"Yes. And speaking of dreams, you should both be heading there now. It's late…" Missy spoke softly and one more time, her hand reached out to softly stroke Jazmyn's hair. No doubt was sleep going to quickly come for Justin judging by the sleepiness of his eyes. But even so, after both twins nodded and shut their eyes, the then welcomed new minder of the two children started humming. She started humming a song to the both of them. I could have sworn that it was one that someone told me that their mother used to sing. But in that moment, I couldn't for the life of me remember who had said that.
Paired with the way that my evening had turned out, Missy's humming was beginning to bring sleep easily to me as well. I tried to resist like I was a child of Justin and Jazmyn's age but soon enough, the lids of my eyes started to creep close. Sleepiness took over my entire body. I listened. I listened hard but I listened softly too. I should have opened my eyes. But I didn't really need to. I could imagine everything clearly. I finally felt like I knew her. I finally felt like I knew Missy. And not just because she had dealt with the Morgan children well.
The amethyst haired woman looked at Jazmyn with softness as she drifted off to sleep, no doubt connecting with those who weren't around as she dreamt. And as for Justin, perhaps he was dreaming of his musical astronaut adventures!
I could feel that Missy was thinking the same thing as me without even opening my eyes and tearing myself away from sleeping. She patted Jazmyn's hand plaintively as her breathing began to deepen and then she moved to sit on the end of Justin's bed as he gently began to snore.
I could feel that as she looked at him, she almost couldn't hide it anymore. She had done a good job of it that whole evening but when she saw the little boy's snoozing face, everything that she was feeling was all over her face. I opened my eyes for that. And I saw an expression that spoke of how she knew that she had missed out on so much.
That day, I couldn't ponder that any further. As Missy reached out to softly stroke the deep purple haired male's locks as he slept, quietly and subtly, she was then no longer alone with the children. Their parents were back. And one of their parents was standing in the doorway. He pushed his hair from his eyes and clutched the note that Lynne had left him in the other.
"Uh…" the lavender haired male mumbled and he didn't know how to proceed further without pausing. A natural wave of protectiveness arose in his gut realising his children had not been minded by the person he truly trusted. But after realising that he trusted that person wholeheartedly that he knew whoever she had picked to leave the children with, he started to feel a small tingling of calm. However, before he could say anymore, Missy was aware of his presence and she stood up off his son's bed. She quickly pushed her hair back so it was covering half her face. And then she approached him.
"I didn't mean to put them to bed so late, but we've been chatting…" she began and she felt a lot of mixed emotions as she came face to face with James. She felt even more as she moved closer to him and fixed her eyes on him. But she didn't let them linger for too long, though he could feel his eyes studying hers in the hall-light. Missy couldn't help but add. "They're very smart. Inventive. Funny. But heart-warming too."
And straight away, this of course warmed James' heart too. He smiled. He smiled at hearing his children being complimented. I smiled back in my sleep. They were words that not only did he use for them but he appreciated someone else expressing them as well. Protectiveness started to fade away. He breathed out.
"Don't be silly; it's okay. I just appreciate that you could take care of them on such short notice." The lavender haired male began and as he carefully put the orange haired female's note and got ready to use that hand to hold out to Missy and shake hers, he hesitated. He hesitated to push his hair from his eyes and then chuckle almost sheepishly, his head tilted on one side. "It's funny… I feel as though I should know you."
He was looking right at her face. James was looking right at her face. Her amethyst hair with a lot of it covering her face, though the back was scooped into a bun. The teal eyes; the perfectly teal eyes that were so similar to both of his twin children's before they got laced with their respective blue and green hue. She seemed familiar to him yet mysterious to him. And that's because she was.
Missy felt emotion brewing in her face once more but because I was correct – she was good under pressure – she managed to hold it back. She simply nodded back at the lavender haired male. She had a glistening quality to her eyes. She didn't offer a hand back when James forgot to hold his out to her. She listened to his words. She nodded her head once more. She told him just one thing.
"You know someone very special to me. And I trust that you're being good to her." She uttered and with that, she moved past him in the hall and prepared to leave the household without a proper goodbye. Well, that was her goodbye. Her goodbye and her words were vague and mysterious. James blinked. For the time being, that was all he needed to know.
Justin and Jazmyn and Jayden and Jaxon too would go on to miss their minder that only came to watch them just that once in their life. But soon enough, they, especially the twins, figured that it was just like she had reminded them. People came and went. But they were always around. You just had to know where to look.
And Jazmyn and Justin would forever remember their mysterious minder for just that one night – James too. Missy really made an impact on them. Or rather, Melissa really made an impact on them all. But more about her for another time.
The End.
There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 So the person who was minding the Morgan children was actually Jessie's mother, come down from 'up there'. Jessie's mother appears in the Pokemon Radio Drama I believe and I have given her the name of Melissa. I reckon lots of people have their ideas about what person Jessie's Mom is but I have quite some different ideas I think! I based her a little bit off one of my coworkers - very playful and fun but blunt and you never know what she's thinking! And as you can see here, she's a little off with James. The reason for that is she visited once before when he was far more reckless and giving Jessie some trouble. He's one of the people that especially never knows what Melissa thinks about him. But I reckon they get on well :P Jessie's parents don't get to visit as much because of their own Team Rocket past. I look forward to writing more about them both. But I'm pleased with this introduction to Melissa :) Thanks again and I will be back next Wednesday with another chapter so see you then!
