Hello :P I am a few days late but I am back with this new chapter! If anyone has been reading these stories a while and reads all the author's notes then they will know that Jessie and James' son, Justin, is very much inspired by the singer songwriter James Bay and his music influences a lot of the situations that Justin goes through. Well on Wednesday I went to go see him perform and it's taken a few days to get back into the writing/uploading headspace! It was a surreal experience not only seeing live someone I have admired for four years but the person who has inspired a very beloved character! But I'm back and this chapter focuses on Katie and Jayden and the dilemma of when they might not be able to continue travelling on Misty's father, Jordan's ship called The Valentine. I hope you enjoy :3
Ages:
Katie: 17
Jayden: 20
Misty: 38
Justin: 23

Disclaimer: I own the story and the OCs mentioned :3
Katie shakily breathed out and held the phone to her ear for a few seconds after the line went dead. She forced herself to move it away and when she did so, she could barely look at the screen. She could barely shake her head. She couldn't fathom anything. She could fathom nothing. It didn't make sense to her.
Jayden was right there by her side when she retired to his father's office to take the call and after it was done with, all he could do was comfortingly reach a hand out to her shoulder. He hadn't heard much of the words on the other end but could piece together enough from the way that Katie was responding. He was swallowing as much as he was. He was shaking also.
The orange haired female did her very best not to go to a place of numbness and she knew she had to say something. Anything. She knew she had to do something as well. Anything. But she didn't know what. She just took the first few steps.
She finally was able to look down at the phone screen long after the person had hung up and her gaze flickered there for just a second. Then, she scoffed. Her eyes pricked with tears but she didn't allow them to properly form. Instead, she turned her head to look over at her boyfriend. He looked back at her while she looked at him with an unreadable yet pain-filled gaze. She was confused. She wanted to bury her head in Jayden's neck and it all to go away. But she knew it was useless thinking that way.
With a sigh, she got ready to open her mouth and finally say something. As I looked at Jayden with my own sympathy filled expression, I saw that he was ready to say some words too. But neither of them had time. Neither of them had time to say or do anything.
All of a sudden, the door to the lavender haired Morgan male's study door open. It creaked open and then somebody was brave enough to reveal themselves. Truly, they were very brave with everything that had happened. Katie knew who was joining the room with her, her boyfriend and me as soon as we were no longer alone. She knew exactly who it was without looking. She knew. She didn't want to face them but she knew she had to.
With still pain-filled eyes and an added ingredient of confusion and frustration too, the orange haired young woman turned her haired to look at the older, orange haired female. And as soon as their eyes met, the person standing in the doorway just had to speak. She simply just had to.
"I… I wanted to tell you, Katie…" Misty broke the uneasy silence with her daughter by beginning but she didn't have a chance to say much else. While she took a few steps to enter the room properly and face up to her relative, Katie's hand went to squeeze Jayden's hand as it was on her shoulder before she turned around to face her mother properly. As soon as she heard her words, her eyes pricked with more betrayed tears.
"But you didn't." Katie found herself snapping at the older female and with yet another shake of the head. Her eyes were blurring with tears and her head was hurting. But she remained strong. In her mind, she remained strong. But Jayden and I could see that she was visibly shaken and close to losing control at any minute. The younger female persisted. "But you didn't. You didn't. You allowed that bloody company to tell me instead."
"How could I, Katie? Tell me; how could I? I didn't want any of this to happen to me, let alone to my own daughter." The orange haired older woman and as she breathed out, though I knew that my allegiances lied with Katie and Jayden also, I had known Misty the longest. I knew when she was hurt. I knew when she was upset. I knew when she was telling the truth. I moved closer to her side to offer her comfort. She showed her gratitude by briefly stroking my head then taking a deep breath and continuing to speak. "I never wanted to upset you-"
"Well you did." Katie found herself snapping all over again but even she knew that she was potentially going too far when she heard Jayden hold his breath behind her. She gulped but she didn't apologise. She was just telling the truth and the truth was that she was heartbroken. The younger orange haired female shut her eyes momentarily to gain composure and when they opened again, she continued to speak with the same hurt in her voice. She couldn't stop herself from shaking her head. "Grandad would never have let this happen. Grandad Jordan would never let this happen. How could you? That isn't just a ship. It's my ship. It was his ship. Everything he loved. Everything I love. He-"
"Well he's not here anymore!" Misty finally snapped back at her daughter in a hoarse voice and as soon as she said them, she knew that she too had crossed a line. She knew that she was well past the line. Jayden held his breath all the more and his own eyes started to fill with tears. He couldn't look at Katie. He knew he couldn't handle her tear-filled reaction. But thankfully or un-thankfully, she didn't have that kind of reaction. I watched as her eyes seemed to dry up and though she winced, she just took a step back and was icily frozen. The orange haired older female spoke again, trying her hardest to soften her voice. "Katie… You can't just make things how you want them to be. It's a sad truth but it's the truth. I've had to learn that. Everyone has to learn that. You must learn that. It's a fact that everybody must face."
I hesitantly looked over at Katie. Even though I believed that Jayden would have been a bit more relieved with her wordless and shivery reaction, I certainly did not feel the same way. I knew the eldest Ketchum daughter to know that when she was her quietest, that was when she was hurting the most. But I knew that if both she and Misty had to summon a huge amount of bravery then I had to as well.
Slowly and reluctantly, I looked over at her. I looked over at Katie and as she listened to her mother's words, her aquamarine orbs pricked with tears all over again. But unlike the previous time, she allowed them to well. She swallowed and then she spoke through frustrated, betrayed and confused tears. She didn't hold her tongue.
"The last thing I want is to end up like you." She responded to Misty coldly and despite the fact that she looked at her right as she said these words and stared at her for a good couple of seconds after, following that, she couldn't look at her anymore. She closed her eyes briefly once more and then after opening them, she turned on her heel and left the room, walking straight past her orange haired parent.
Jayden, like me, was torn in his loyalty but he knew that his girlfriend needed him. So after a horrified yet sympathetic clear of his throat and a glance towards Misty, he shuffled after Katie.
For once, I was less certain in my actions. While I listened to Misty swallow back tears of hurt at her daughter's hurtful words and shaky hand movements too, I stayed on her shoulder. I stayed on my shoulder and lightly dug my nails into her skin so she knew that I was there. She knew that she could count on me. And she could. But for once, she didn't want my loyalty. She was grateful for it. But she didn't want it.
Still trembling, my best friend's orange haired wife used her fingers to wrap around my body and then she pulled my off her shoulder. She could barely look at me but she sniffed back her tears and I knew she was telling the truth. Again. She swallowed.
"You should go with Katie. You should watch Katie. I need some time to myself." Misty mumbled and with that, she lowered me down to the ground and finally looked at me. She was finally able to look at me, just for a simple second. She gently gave me a brief pat before she made her way over to sit in her best friend's office chair to try and find some level of calmness and composure. My eyes widened the entire time.
I was hurt. I had to admit that her not wanting me around to look after her hurt. It hurt deeply. But after I allowed myself to feel that for a few moments and accept those feelings and come to terms with them, I decided that her words were fair enough. In fact, they were almost better than what I was hoping for. I found myself nodding my head after a little while.
I knew that by doing what Misty asked of me and looking out for her beloved daughter, I was being loyal to her. She needed time to herself and I had to accept that. So soon enough, I understood that I could show my deep love and loyalty to all of the Ketchum's by looking out for Katie and looking after them all in that way.
I gave the orange haired woman a smile though she wasn't looking and went on my way. Watch Katie? Then watch Katie I would do exactly. Anything for Misty. Anything for the Ketchum's anything for them all. Anything for my family.
So I left Misty to it and as I exited the room, she leaned forward on her chair and buried her head in her hands, mumbling to herself. I knew that in that moment, both her and Katie were feeling like they were so far away from each other and not on the same page in the slightest so I found it comforting – and perhaps even a little amusing – when I found the orange haired younger female in the exact same position as her mother when I invited myself into her bedroom.
Katie was sat on the edge of the bed and with Jayden by her side, his hand simply yet supportively nestling in the crook of her arm. Like I described with Misty, the side plait wearing orange haired female had her own head buried in her hands. She was mumbling to herself. Or perhaps, she was mumbling to her boyfriend.
"Give up The Valentine? Give up the excitement? Give up the adventure? Give up travelling? Give up the memories…?" the eldest Ketchum daughter pondered aloud and after she shook her head all over again, she buried her head further in her hands. She could feel her boyfriend's own emotion as well as his comfort and I didn't know which of those was causing her to be unable to even look at him. She bit her lip. "Then who will I be…? Then who will we be…?"
I entered the room properly and made myself comfy (and warm) on the window sill of Katie's bedroom that resided above a radiator. And almost as soon as I thought about how she couldn't look at her boyfriend, she suddenly was able to look at him.
Slowly and fraction by fraction, she moved her hands away from her face and attempted to face him. She met his gaze just once before her own one flickered and she scrunched her face up tightly. Jayden just simply reached out and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear before he gently touched the end of her nose.
"You'll still be you. And we'll still be us. That will never change." He mumbled matter of factly and Katie sighed as soon as she heard these words but it wasn't out of rudeness. It was sadness. And uncertainty too. She didn't know if she agreed or not. But for once, she kept quiet. She just nodded her head before burying her head back in her hands. The dual hair coloured tried to say more things to keep her spirits high. "We'll figure this out, you know, Katie? We will figure this out. Even if your Mom thinks it's impossible, it's not. It's not."
I noticed that Jayden's words wavered a little bit, like he didn't really believe what he was saying. It was either that or it was from his own hurt and confusion that Misty had kept a little – or a lot – of information from Katie. I understood. He loved Misty almost as much as he loved his girlfriend. He admired her for years and it was hard to see her make quite the mistake. But truthfully, I understood it as much as I understood Jayden's feelings and Katie's too.
"Yeah, you know my feelings about that word." She sniffed in agreement and tried to manage a smile but she wasn't ready to at that point. So instead, despite the fact that she was still burying her head in her hands, she moved one of them away so she could squeeze Jayden's hand. She was grateful. For the way that he was trying to say the right thing. The way he was there for her. The way he was holding back his sensitive emotions for her sake. She knew that was a hard thing for him! She continued. She repeated some words that she had said to Misty. "Grandad would have never let this happen. Grandad Jordan would have never let this happen…"
Jayden wordlessly nodded his head as Katie trailed off. I found myself doing the same. They were true. They definitely could be true. But Misty was right – he wasn't there at that point, was he? So who was to say what he would do or what he wouldn't do? Either way, it was a pickle. It was a very tricky situation indeed. Katie reviewed the whole situation aloud for Jayden and me to hear.
"It's an outrage. It's an utter outrage. The people who bought Grandad's Dad's ship repair shop decades ago say that The Valentine is partially theirs because they own that business now. It's nonsense. It's nonsense. And because Jordan isn't around at the moment and they're blackmailing the Cerulean Gym, Mom feels as though she has to sign the ship over to them. It's nonsense. It's more than nonsense. It's bullshit. And this whole thing is about one thing and one thing only. And you know what that is, right?"
Jayden and I only had just enough time to whisper the word to Katie before she nodded her head, pulling her hand away from her face and looking at us again with passionately frustration tear-filled eyes. She swallowed.
"Money. It's all about money. And it's vile." The orange haired female insisted and she wished that she could continue being as brave as she knew she was capable of feeling. She knew it was wrong to bury her face in her hand all over again and shy away from the world but she was finding the situation very unsettling and battling to face up to. So she buried her head in Jayden's arm instead. Her cheeks flushed a rosy pink as she thought back. "And my Mom lied to me. She couldn't tell me herself and left me to phone their number and find out that way. Coward. She's cowardly. She's a liar. And she lies about everything."
"Katie…" Though Jayden felt a little bit stronger in himself when his girlfriend turned to him for comfort and he stroked the back of her neck while she buried herself against him, he couldn't stop himself from mumbling out in response to her latest words. The orange haired female stopped leaning on him right away and looked up at him. He looked away in case he had offended her or appeared disloyal but it wasn't that. Katie breathed out. She rested her chin on his shoulder.
"I know you love my Mom, Jayden, I know you do…" the orange haired female began and despite the fact that she was breathing out with slight hurt, she gave him a little bit of a smile as she reached up to briefly cup his face in her hand. One thing she couldn't accuse him of was being biased. Katie continued, playing with some of the badges on his shirt to distract herself from some of the hurt. "But Grandad trusted her. Grandad trusted her with The Valentine. He trusted her and he trusted me. Well… Evidently he can't trust her so it's up to me to protect it. It's up to me to protect the ship. It's up to me to protect everything that he loves."
While Jayden nodded his head wordlessly and his eyes flickered with sadness of lots of different things, Katie suddenly found it in herself to be a lot braver than she had previously done. After pressing a light kiss to her boyfriend's cheek, she stood up off the bed and held her head high. She held her head high and I was proud. She certainly could get things done. But it was obvious that she still wasn't there yet with what happened next.
Whether it was a thought or a memory or a sensation – I didn't know – the orange haired female faltered and deflated and sunk back down to the bed. The dual hair coloured male blinked a little bit but instead of opening his mouth and sinking her shoulders even more, he just wrapped his arm around her shoulders. He was just there for her and that was exactly what she needed. Katie's next sentences soon explained the reason for her change in demeanour. Jayden and I listened empathetically.
"That ship is everything we love. That ship is everything that we're about. But it's not just that. It's not just that at all." Katie began and because Jayden believed he knew exactly what she was talking about and felt the exact same way, after nodding his head, he had words in return for his girlfriend. He stopped wrapping his arm around her shoulders and played with her hair all over again. He wholeheartedly felt everything he went on to say.
"I know. I know, Katie. It's not just a ship. And the ship isn't just a keel and a hull and deck and sails…" the dual haired male trailed off momentarily to smile a little bit as he thought of all the memories that he and his girlfriend had shared on the seas and how passionately she especially was about it all. He poked her nose briefly before continuing, giving her a bit of a squeeze. "It's far more than that."
"But's it's far more than just freedom too." Katie turned to look at Jayden with almost desperate eyes when she knew exactly what he was going to go on to say. She breathed out and she shook her head. She felt a little bit bewildered that they weren't entirely on the same page but then she knew that she would just have to speak and then they would be. So she went for it, resting her cheek back on his shoulder. She hoped he would understand. She hoped he would still understand the more words she said.
"It's far more than just adventure. That ship – The Valentine – Grandad Jordan spruced that up from scratch when he was younger than you. When he was just around my age. That was his grand escape from Johto. That was he and Nanny's escape. They travelled to Kanto from Johto to become the Cerulean Gym leaders. That was their beginning. That was their beginning of their story. The beginning of their lives together was The Valentine. That story continues with you and me. And if we give it away, then it's all over. That ship is far bigger than just you and I and Jordan and Lynne too. Memories have been made right there. Ours together. Mine alone…"
Her voice trailed off and when Jayden tilted his head but continued listening, she shook her head a second time. She almost apologised. But she knew she had to persist. "Without that, none of us would be here. It can't be erased. It simply can't!"
I was very much nearly moved to tears with everything that the orange haired female said at that moment. She had a way with words. Boy, did she have a way with words. But on top of that, what she was saying was true. Nobody could deny it. That ship was far more than just a ship. It was history.
Katie's expression crumpled up with passionate yet heartbroken emotion after everything she said and she tried to hold it all back as she shut her eyes and rested her forehead on Jayden's shoulder instead. The dual haired male looked at her. He looked right at her. He heard everything that she said. Everything. And not only did he agree, but he fiercely believed it to be true as well. He was right. He knew that his girlfriend was right. He knew that they had to do something. He didn't know what at that point but he knew that something had to be done. Not even for themselves and their adventure – but their whole family.
"It simply can't be erased." Jayden nodded his head in agreement and after he said those words, he quietly surprised his girlfriend and he leaned forward to press a kiss to Katie's forehead before he held her face in his hands and encouraged her to look at him. He looked at her tenderly yet loyally too with those meadow green eyes of his. He nodded his head all over again. "And it won't be erased. We won't let that happen. We won't. We won't give up. It's as simple as that."
The orange haired female found herself breathing out and wrapping her arms tightly around Jayden when she heard with her own ears how much not only did he find her feelings to be valid but he sincerely agreed with them as well. She hugged him tight. He hugged her. She held onto him. They held onto each other. Katie shut her eyes and tried to relax against him. But she still couldn't.
All over again, she had to open her eyes and look up at him. After a few minutes of silence, she had to ask him as his fingers tucked more strands of her hair behind her ears.
"But what will we do? What can we do? What can any of us do?" she asked him and all by herself, as she asked these questions, she found herself feeling strangely hopeless. And that paired with Jayden keeping quiet because he didn't have a plan of action in that moment in time, Katie began to worry that it might be the word she hated more than anything. She began to fear that it was impossible. Jayden planted a kiss to her forehead but it wasn't enough to soothe her worrisome headache. She sighed out. "We need a plan. And we need a plan fast."
I understood why Jayden remained silent, I really did. On top of being quite the quiet and thoughtful yet genuine fellow, he didn't want to fire Katie up with ideas and antics only to have her be deeply disappointed. He had to come up with an idea and really think it through before he expressed it to her. I knew that. I understood that. But I still wished that he could have said something to her. Anything.
The orange haired female moved away from the dual haired male when he continued being silently supportive but it wasn't because she was mad at him. Like her mother had needed before her, she needed time. She needed time to think. She stood up off the bed, running a hand through her hair. And almost as soon as his girlfriend moved away from him, Jayden took the opportunity to think himself. He thought long and hard. He thought long and hard about how much he loved her. And how much Jordan loved Lynne. And how little he wanted their precious story to be wiped away, too.
He loved hearing about his girlfriend's grandparents. In fact, he had loved hearing about them long before they were involved romantically. He had been a very little boy when he first became fascinated with how young Jordan and Lynne were when they met and how adamant they were that they were the one for each other. In fact, it was potentially a key ingredient to why Jayden had turned out the way he had. Low-key. Solid. Dependable. Loyal. Hard-working. He was husband material at the age of a young teenager - that was how many people described him. And I started to wonder if that was because of the admiration he had for Jordan and Lynne's story.
It was certainly a special one. Meeting in Johto at the age of young adults. Falling in love and spending days by the ocean or at the little rickety and run-down café in which Lynne worked. Planning to escape one day together on the boat that Jordan was fixing up at the time. Knowing they were going to escape when the Kanto Cerulean Gym job opportunity arose. Jordan's father seeing them being romantic together and knowing in his gut that his son would soon leave for another region. Him not stopping either of them. Him silently supporting them, and wishing them well. Lynne announcing to Jordan that she was pregnant with their first daughter on the voyage from Johto to Kanto.
Katie was right. Katie was right, Jayden knew this wholeheartedly. Jordan and Lynne had quite the story and though it would take more than The Valentine being sold for all of that to disappear forever, he knew that he just couldn't let that happen. And he also knew that he just had to speak when he noticed his girlfriend had wandered over to her book and DVD shelf and was mindlessly running her finger along each and every one of them.
Such stories in each and every one of them as well. So many characters – lots of them unique and bold and brave – like she wished that she was all of the time. She had studied them all lots. She had enjoyed them all lots. And because there was one person that she enjoyed being pulled into those worlds with more than anything, Jayden couldn't stop himself from mentioning his name. He had a little bit of an epiphany.
"You could talk to him, you know, Katie? You should talk to him, actually. He would sort it out. He would buy that ship for you in a second. He would-"
"No, Jayden." Katie mumbled out and because she was still a little bit in her own world of books and movies and a story that was in her own family, she knew that her voice came out a little strange. It came out a little robotic. She shook her head at herself and made her tone go back to normal. But she still felt the same way as she came to sit back beside her boyfriend all over again. "I can't ask that of your dad. I can't ask that of Uncle James. He's done enough to keep their story alive and he's got enough of his own life to deal with. I will talk to him about it certainly. But we have to do this. We have to do this. Grandad trusted us. And he's right to trust us. We will sort this. Somehow…"
I was so proud with the way that Katie was gradually getting her "muchness" back – like her beloved Uncle James liked to say. And I was proven that day along with many others that she was truly the dear child of Ash and Misty.
She was determined and adamant and loyal like her mother. And she was selfless and caring and fair like her father. She was a great mix of those two treasured people of mine. She was a perfect mix of them. She would sort it. Somehow, she would sort it. I decided to hop on the bed to offer wordless support while Jayden offered it to her verbally.
After reaching out to touch both of her cheeks, he reached down to hold both of her hands and he squeezed them. He nodded his head just once. He smiled at her. He breathed out. He certainly felt a lot more hopeful when she had a handle on things.
"And we don't have to do this alone. That's the best thing about this whole thing. Not only do we have each other but we have lots of other people as well. They will want us to continue adventuring like we have been doing. And they will want us to keep Jordan and Lynne's one of a kind story alive too. We will sort this. Somehow. Anyhow. However it takes."
In that moment, after Katie stopped Jayden from holding her hands so she could wrap her arms around his neck and hug her best friend turned boyfriend very tightly, she suddenly got the feeling that she didn't deserve him. She felt as though he'd had nothing but craziness in his wake ever since he had fallen for her! She felt almost bad for bringing him into yet another drama even though that time, she hadn't intended on causing it. But when she pulled away to look at his face and saw nothing but kindness and loyalty, she knew that she didn't have to apologise. She just had to thank him instead. And so she did. Wordlessly.
She slid onto his lap and wrapped her arms around him tighter than ever, nuzzling into the side of his neck. She was lucky to have him. She was endlessly lucky to have him. Not only did he support her and encourage her and ground her, but he adored her for being her innovative and headstrong self. He knew that she was the one. And he knew that she was worth all the confusion and ups and downs along the way.
The sweet young couple were about to pull away from the hug and lean in for a kiss – I knew it – when it was proved that not only was Katie right, but Jayden was as well. They would sort it. Somehow. Anyhow. Whatever it took. And they wouldn't do it alone.
After a knock at the door, a group of people entered the little room and all of the expressions on their faces proved they were nothing but determined to help out in any way that they could. Needless to say, it was Justin who was the first to properly enter the room and speak, though it was his boyfriend, Sammy, who sat down on the bed next to Katie and Jayden and gave me a behind the ear rub.
"Are you okay, Katie?" he asked in a caring way and hesitated before sitting down next to her and Jayden too when he knew from his brother that it was okay to do so. He ran a hand through his growing locks and gave her a small but sincere smile. He nodded his head just once. "We will sort this. No way will you have to give anything up. No way will I stand by and see you give it all up."
"Yeah, we will be here." Sammy stopped tickling behind my ear long enough to give Katie his own reassuring smile, his hand reaching to his own ear and playing with his dangling earring. He had almost as much determination as his boyfriend and his boyfriend's brother, too. "That damn company will have to get through us all."
Katie found herself nodding her head shyly at all of the people gathering around her but after a few minutes, she gratefully understood what they were saying. She nodded her head at Sammy and then she smiled at Justin. It was then that she realised a third person had joined the room behind the Alolan male and the deep purple haired one. That surprised her the most. I thought he was just going to nod his head as he leaned against the wall but he spoke some words as well.
"Yeah. They'll regret ever messing with you and The Valentine." Jaxon told Katie while pushing his hair from his eyes and as Justin just looked over at the orange haired female as his fingers rested side by side with Katie's on the bed, the magenta haired male folded his arms over his chest. He almost smirked. "Especially when our dad gets involved. And me too, for that matter."
Some days I would've reacted with tears in my eyes as Katie ducked her head and couldn't believe all of the people who had gathered in her room to support her. But that day, I had nothing but a firm grin on my face. Maybe it was the enjoyable ear rub from Sammy or maybe it was just feeling the family unit in the room. One thing was for certain was that Katie wouldn't have to do anything alone, especially not her next fight.
So it was almost ironic when as soon as she realised how many people were there supporting her - that was the moment when she knew that she could do it. And she knew she could do it alone. She finally slid off Jayden's lap and stood up. She had a lingering hand squeeze from Justin as she did so and after she needed a simple second to compose herself all over and push away all of her own memories of The Valentine, she nodded her head adamantly. She pushed her hair from her eyes. She knew what she had to do.
"It means a lot that you're all here and you're all saying that. And I want you around. But I want you around while I do this myself." She began and after she was met with some of the boys looking at one and other, she clarified. She felt even better when not only did Justin reach his hand back out for her to hold but Jayden did as well. She really knew what she had to do. "My Grandad trusted me with his ship and I will not let him down. I will not let his story drown. I will not. That bloody company has another thing coming if they think I will go down without a fight. That ship is more than just a bit of wood. That ship is more than just freedom. It is the beginning of a story. A story in which none of us would be here together without."
And upon hearing this, all Justin, Jayden, Jaxon, Sammy and I nodded our heads and fist bumped each other. We all wholeheartedly agreed with Katie's words but the thing that we were most impressed by was her determination. That was something that was hers and hers alone. But it was something that was admired by everyone.
Katie felt a little shy hearing everyone's supportive murmurs and some whoops and her eyes glistened with tears a little bit. But she grinned. And after she did so, she looked at each and every one of us. She looked at me. She looked at Jaxon. She looked at Sammy. She looked at Jayden. And she looked at Justin. There was just one more thing left to say. She tightened her side plait.
"Well then… Who's up for at least one more voyage on The Valentine?" she asked, before letting out a few determined chuckles. She scrunched her nose up and pointed to a map on her wall. I knew exactly what she was going to say before she said it. "To Johto!"
And it didn't take me any time at all to chuckle alongside Katie when I heard her words and her own determined laughter and I hopped on her shoulder and nuzzled my cheek against hers. I left the four boys playfully gasping and admiring her drive while I was left just admiring her.
Katie was so much like her mother. She was so much like Misty. She was a girl in a group of guys but she was very much their equal. She paved her own path and she stuck by it. She stuck by what she believed in and she certainly believed in the story of Jordan and Lynne. She believed in her own one as well. And because she believed in it, we believed in it too. And because we believed in her, she believed in herself too. She won back The Valentine. She won even more adoration and respect from her Grandad, though she had heaps of it before. And she won our hearts too.
She was right that the ship kept her grandparents story alive but the truth was, not only did she keep everyone else's stories blooming, but she embellished them too. She was an asset to the group. She was treasured by the group. And she was loved by all those boys. No matter which way they loved her.
The End.
There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 This story takes place a couple of months after Jayden and Katie as well as Justin and Sammy break up. They've reconciled at this point and this event will certainly bring them all closer together again after some of their difficulties in involving both of their break ups. This chapter was inspired by the Alice Through The Looking Glass movie. I couldn't help but imagine how Katie would feel if she almost had to give up her beloved ship and how it would affect Jayden. Though the adventuring is much more Katie's thing, it's a huge part of his memories with her of course. As well as other people's memories with Katie! Katie is pretty cold towards Misty in this chapter. It may seem out of place but at this stage in their lives, Katie is starting to see her mother as a person rather than just her mother. And maybe sometimes it hits too close to home! Thanks again for reading and I'll be back to update Dear Daddy on the 28th so see you then!
