Hello :P It is Wednesday and I am back with a new chapter. It's the first week in the month of November so that of course means I'll be uploading all Ash and Misty themed stories for the next month! As always, I'll be following the themes of the PokeShipping Week that is happening on Tumblr. Like the title suggests, the theme for this one is "Misty's song". It was really fun to bring Justin into this one to bring out all the events and of course the subject of a song that Misty herself wrote a very long time ago - but it really is about Ash and Misty at the core. I hope you enjoy :3

Ages:

Ben and Katie: 13

Ash and Misty: 33

Justin: 19

Rey: 2

Disclaimer: I own the story and the OCs mentioned!

The raven haired young man had a flushed expression and his eyes were wandering, longing to dart towards the exit of the room but the way that his mother had a firm gaze towards him made him understand that he had to tread carefully. His feet seemed to remain planted on the carpet though they longed to run. He swallowed remorsefully. However, his expression remained stubborn. Ben knotted his eyebrows together as Misty took a step closer towards her eldest son, asking him a second time.

"Benjamin Ketchum… Go and help Justin over there, please." She commanded rather than asked but in a firm yet fair tone, pushing her bangs from her eyes so she could make direct contact with her son. At first, the raven haired thirteen year old boy's eyes wandered once more – that time towards where the deep purple haired male was simply pressing his lips together politely, showing that although he wasn't getting involved, he still wasn't clearing up the mess himself. Misty withheld a sigh. She tried again. "No running in the house, Ben."

The teenage boy's head snapped back towards his mother and everybody else who was in the room tried to go in between glancing in their direction and quickly away. I swallowed silently. Somehow, the orange haired woman's words said everything without having to say anything at all. The mess on the floor and Justin being partially the victim of it was due to Ben doing exactly that – running in the house.

I knew then that the subtly of Misty's words were painfully obvious even to her son in that moment. And because of this, his feet began fidgeting on the floor and his eyes openly darted over to the door. He didn't try and hide the fact that he longed to get out of there – not stay and be reprimanded. And help the older male!

Nevertheless, as the orange haired young lady who was also in the room rolled her eyes and folded her arms over her chest at her twin brother, Ben had his own once last attempt. He shook his head stubbornly, his unruly locks waving as he tried just one more time. His eyes widened as he pleaded his case.

"But Mom!" he began and straight away, the orange haired woman knew that she was in for some bargaining with her son. Such a sweet and placid boy he had been all of his life but he was then in his teenage years. That led to all sorts of challenges and first times as parents! Justin felt sympathy, though he didn't show it on his face. Misty just waited for what her son was going to come out with. Ben's fists trembled in a fired up way as he concluded. "Summer's nearly over! When school starts, we won't be able to battle hardly as much. Jaxon is waiting for me!"

"Ben." The orange haired woman interrupted her son for a rare occasion and because her arms had folded over her chest while she listened to her son's case, they then unfolded and dropped down by her sides. She let out a quiet sigh in that moment and shook her head, her brow furrowing. Misty came out with the words she had merely hinted before. She gestured towards Justin and the scattered papers on the floor. "You caused that. I am asking you to go and help fix it. No excuses."

The deep purple haired male seemed to hold his breath. He wasn't looking between Misty and Ben and not even at Katie or me in that moment. He wasn't looking at the said scattered papers either. Part of him felt like he was caught in the middle or like he should just crack on with clearing them up himself. But he knew never to undermine anyone, especially not someone else's parent.

I wasn't doing as well as Justin was doing in not looking. As I continued to sit on Katie's shoulder while she still had her arms folded over her chest, my eyes flickered between Ben and Misty too. And I watched as the raven haired young man reacted to his mother's serious words.

Needless to say, his cheeks flushed more than ever. He had always hated disappointing her. He had always hated letting people down. No doubt did deep inside he feel apologetic for causing Justin trouble. But the way that he had gotten into trouble left him with all sorts of emotions. He felt silly. He felt embarrassed. He felt stubborn. That last trait won.

As his fists began to tremble more at the frustration of it all and after his eyes darted between many things – Justin and the scattered papers, his twin sister, his mother and then finally door – the last thing in question won for the second time. Ben's feet finally stopped wriggling on the carpet in his trainers in anticipation and they suddenly carried him out of the house! The raven haired teenager fled the scene and didn't look back.

Misty groaned. Katie scoffed. I swallowed. But yet another male took that moment to finally decide to openly react. He stood up off the floor from crouching near his discarded bits of paper and waved a dismissive hand, telling the older female that it was okay. And after doing that, he reassured her with words also. The orange haired female swallowed and still didn't know quite how to feel that her son had ignored her so.

"Don't worry about it, Misty; I'll just do it myself. It's easily done." Justin smiled easily at the twin teenager's mother and I couldn't help but wonder what was easily done – sorting out the mess on the floor or Ben running in the house and colliding with him? Even so, the deep purple haired male seemed to know exactly what he was up to. He prepared to go back down onto his knees yet again, to follow up his words with actions and gather the pieces of paper all together once again.

In the meantime, the orange haired woman recovered from the surprise that her teenage son had gone against her so and decided to just shake her head, focusing on the fact that James' son was being so easy-going. She managed to show off a smile, putting her own hand on her forehead, underneath her bangs. She shrugged.

"Oh well. I guess I'll have to sort him out later." Misty uttered and she shared a glance with me and it was then that I gave her a sympathetic look back. But to be honest with you, that glance was for Ben as much as it was for Misty. The later in the day that he got reprimanded, the more likely that he would go to bed feeling sulky. But it was what it was. You certainly can't always win as parents! I wondered if Jessie and James still felt that way about Justin. Surely not – he was behaving in such an understanding way.

"Me and Katie will sort these out." He started and straight away, though he hadn't even begun to reach for the first discarded paper, the orange haired teenage girl's gaze soon went over to the older male. Her eyes widened slightly. Justin continued airily, making sure that she didn't feel like she was receiving her brother's punishment. "Are you cool with that?"

But before Misty could step in and quite literally step towards Katie, putting a light hand on her shoulder to encourage her that she certainly didn't mind helping out while also reassuring her that she wasn't in the same boat as Ben – the orange haired female proved that she did have a few similar streaks to her twin brother.

After Katie's own eyes darted between multiple things in the room, she avoided giving Justin a polite smile back as he looked up at him and merely turned on her heel, sprinting out the same exit as the raven haired male! Thankfully, I had the initiative to leap off her shoulder before I was carried with her. I landed right next to Justin, missing one of his handwritten sheets of paper by a couple of inches.

The orange haired woman's eyes circled in exasperation and her hand went to her forehead all over again, shaking her head and looking down at the deep purple haired male.

"Oh my goodness. What has gotten into those two today? I tell ya, I didn't think that all the teenager-ness could kick in quite so quickly, if I'm being honest with you." Misty continued shaking her head and letting out a sigh while Justin just grinned wordlessly and adjusted his fedora on the top of his head.

He switched from kneeling and sat properly down on his bottom, crossing his legs together. Even he knew when to quit. Even he knew when to just do something himself. And he really didn't mind. He knew that the Ketchum twins were good kids. Even so, he found himself giving the orange haired mother a slight playful look.

"Not to take sides of anything, but I have a slight feeling that Katie may have headed off to give Ben one of those famous glares of hers that the does so wonderfully." Justin explained, and then he paused. He touched the top of his fedora hat lightly before his grin changed to slightly more bashful. "She didn't look too impressed when you were first telling him off."

I looked up at Misty as she thought back. She had been so occupied with getting her raven haired teenage son to see sense that she hadn't really taken a notice of Katie's agreeing (but rather irritated) expressions over what had happened. But despite that, the orange haired woman knew that this was entirely likely!

Soon enough, she chuckled to herself and nodded her head, deciding to leave her two eldest children for the time being and if she had raised them right – they would come to her to make things right in their own time. Misty continued hovering next to the deep purple haired male for a few more moments then she came to sit next to him. She reached her hand out to squeeze his shoulder as his hand finally moved to start picking up the bits of paper.

"I will help you sort out all of this, Justin." My best friend's wife told her best friend's eldest son and despite the fact that he just smiled and shook his head upon hearing this, he didn't try and stop her either. He knew that both of those twin's got their stubborn side from their mother so he would never try to argue with her. Misty quietly sighed fondly at his easy-going attitude and after a few more moments, she couldn't help but utter to him as she picked up a bunch of papers from the floor. "You shouldn't be tidying up this mess after you weren't the one to drop them. You came here to do a good thing and it ended up like this."

Justin looked at Misty for a moment. I did too. That wasn't entirely true. The deep purple haired male had been the one to drop them but it was only because Ben had crashed into him as he ran through the Ketchum household, desperate to head out of the house and Pokémon battle. Nevertheless, the orange haired woman and I then decided to inwardly focus on the fact that he had done a good thing, rather than him still ending up with the short straw. Justin addressed that part with a shrug.

"Of course I was going to come over and drop Katie's bear over here. She left it in my Dad's office but that doesn't mean that she should spend the night without it." The deep purple haired male told Katie's mother and the orange haired woman couldn't stop a subtly disagreeing expression from taking over at her face at the way that her daughter had bolted instead of assisting.

Justin didn't catch on. He simply just felt Misty's hand on his shoulder when she squeezed it yet again after dismissing her prior thoughts and then she said her own words. The deep purple haired male had started to go on his hands and knees as he saw one pesky piece of paper had fluttered right underneath the sofa.

"How many of these do you reckon there are?" the older female asked to get a rough idea and before she even had an answer from the younger male, she started to count the ones that she had in her hold. If I had to guess, then I would assume that she had about six in her hands.

The deep purple haired male did his own guess work, sitting back up and scratching the side of his head near where his fedora brushed his ear. He pondered.

"Maybe about… Forty?" he assumed but the way that he turned back towards Misty and gestured with his hand made it obvious that it was only a rough guess. However, if it was more than forty or less than forty then my best friend's wife was impressed! Her eyes widened. She gathered a couple more sheets into her pile and before Justin went back to searching for more in the sneakier places in her living room, she could help but ask.

"What, you've written forty songs? And they're all here in my living room right now?" she asked, impressed, but she couldn't help but make a joke out of it also. And needless to say, the deep purple haired male caught on. Justin turned over his shoulder to give Misty an amused grin but he took a while to answer her.

I began helping out as well but I also looked up at him. The deep purple haired male stood back up onto his feet and though he seemed to occupy himself with looking on unlikely places such as the fireplace, I got the feeling that it was because he didn't want to come across as bragging with his next words. But soon enough, he knew that he just had to answer truthfully when he could feel Misty raising an eyebrow at him, wondering why his chatty self wasn't indulging her.

"I think I've probably written more than that." He admitted and while the long haired male's mind flickered to how he had started expressing himself in that way when he was around Ben and Katie's age, Misty found herself grinning at his honesty as well as his modesty. Absentmindedly, Justin took off his fedora and left it lingering on the arm of the arm chair as he looked behind it. He then added with a smile. "These pages are not double-sided, though. And there may be more than one version of the same song in your living room. But there's probably around forty, if I had to guess."

"Then we should probably get them all back to you." Misty told Justin with a smile and we both nodded our heads at the same time. One of us felt as though we should change the subject and that person was the orange haired female – she knew that the last thing that Justin would want to come across was bragging – even though she had been asking him questions.

But thankfully for the younger male or perhaps thankfully for the situation in general, after a couple of comfortable moments of silence after all of the havoc and us three managing to gather a good few more of the runaway songs on paper, there soon enough would be more hands to help! None of us quite realised it was so late in the summer evening of Kanto when my best friend arrived home from work, a grin on his face and energy in his step as if he had just woken up!

Ash evidently knew where to come after asking the other small members of the household or perhaps Ben and Katie if they had snuck back into the house, their figurative tails in between their legs. I secretly doubted it! My best friend entered the room having just kicked off his shoes in the hall and was running a hand through his hair. He looked mildly surprised to see Justin and the mess but quickly grew distracted by the sight of his wife. He greeted her.

"There is my Mist. Just as beautiful as she was the moment that I first laid eyes upon her." The raven haired man pretended to simper and with just those words alone, you would have thought that he was the sweetest person in the world! Which he was. But Justin and I and Ash too could see the position that the orange haired female was in.

You see, Misty had wondered if one of the pieces had fallen into the long, tall vase in the corner of the room – you never know! So she was bent over and with her hand right in it, rummaging around. The orange haired female grew red faced when she heard this and she narrowed her eyes but then couldn't help but laugh. I joined in too. Ash did as well. The deep purple haired male looked a little uneasy for the first time but he didn't say anything. He went back to making his own piles and simply listened as Ash continued.

"What are you guys up to?" he asked in between his own chuckles and after Misty stopped looking for a piece of paper in that unthinkable place (it wasn't there) and stood up to her full height, Ash came behind her and wrapped his arms around her, giving her a peck on the cheek. He gave Justin a nod of a greeting to which he returned. He had a special smile for me. Then he added, squeezing Misty's waist playfully. "That son of ours is out there looking quite hollow-cheeked. You didn't let Katie tell him one of her spooky stories again, did ya?"

And upon hearing this, despite everything, Misty found her bottom lip trembling just a little at the way that, in his own way, her husband had described Ben as looking very remorseful. Justin had a very different reaction and he couldn't stop himself from bursting into laughter at the thought of Katie living up to Ash's words! It was definitely like her.

Then after he felt the older male's gaze on him and both his eyebrows raising curiously, the deep purple haired male explained. Justin told Ash that he had his song-writing papers with him as he dropped Mr Hugsy back to Katie due to the fact that he was on his way to the studio after. And as he held them in his hands, he had dropped them and they head spread out in all directions.

After pressing a kiss back to her husband's cheek, Misty elaborated and informed Ash that it was Ben who had collided with Justin and that had sent them flying everywhere. Needless to say, she filled him in about everything else too. And after the two parents' couldn't help but chuckle slightly, Ash came over to give me a special rub on the cheek and then he rubbed his hands together. He smiled.

"So I guess that we're all doing this then, are we? That sounds alright. I can make up an even better appetite for dinner!" Ash announced and although Justin recovered from his uneasiness towards their "flirting" and simply gave him a grin and a nod, he definitely felt very grateful that he was offering his help after being out at work and training all day. I wasn't surprised at all. That was just my best friend.

I gave him my own special nuzzle and then I cracked on with helping as well. We all began gathering lots of hand-written pieces of paper together and with the three of us, I couldn't help but feel as though we were soon accumulating a number close to forty. I looked over at Ash at the same time that he opened his mouth a few minutes later. I found myself wondering if he was going to ask a similar question to his wife. Yet he asked something rather different!

"Do all of them look like this or are there different ones?" the raven haired male looked up and when the rest of us looked over in our direction, he held out one of the pieces of paper up. Normally good at hiding his feelings and being friendly was Justin Morgan. However, in that moment, he couldn't help but blink slightly at Ash's words.

But the more that he thought about it, the more he understood that it could be plausible that he could have used different notepad so the sheets could have looked different. Justin shook his head. He had used the same notepad so they all looked the same, apart from scruffier and neater handwriting and different words.

After Misty smiled fondly at Ash's unique but sincerely helpful question, my best friend then asked something that was a little more helpful in the deep purple haired male's eyes. Following him wondering how many sheets there were supposed to be and how many had been located, we all started looking at our own piles. Misty was first to reveal hers.

"I've got nineteen." Misty answered, struggling quite a bit to fan all of the sheets of song-writing that she had found in her hands! There and then, I felt as though she had collected the most. But for once, she was not smug. She just merely wanted him to find them all. Not only would it have been horrible for him if he misplaced even one of them, but she would have related to that feeling also.

The deep purple haired male glanced over at me and my best friend and after he saw that Ash was not yet counting any, he decided to go next. He ran a hand through his hair and made sure to check twice (perhaps in the hope that he had beaten Misty) before he came out with his own answer. He fanned out his sheets of paper also.

"I've got eleven." He stated and after nodding, he then glanced over at me and caught side of me starting to fan my own sheets out but I was placing them back out on the floor and using my teeth. And truthfully, I did not know if it was the struggle I was having or the idea of getting my teeth marks on Justin's song sheets – but either way, Justin came to my aid. He counted them for me and with them. He announced my number. "And Pikachu has eight."

Justin didn't even need to add the words "that just leaves Ash". In that instance, all eyes wandered over to the raven haired male. With Misty's orbs, Justin's orbs and my orbs all on him, Ash's own eyes widened. And then after the orange haired female smirked curiously, they couldn't help but widen all the more. And in addition to this, his face flushed. There was no need to, really, but part of him felt as though it was a little bit of a competition. He uttered.

"Geez, guys, relax. I've only found one, okay? I did only just get here, after all." my best friend defended himself like he would have done when he was his teenage son's age and he flicked the sheet of paper towards Justin but that was done in a playful way rather than irritated. Even so, Justin snapped it up quickly and added it to his own pile.

While I allowed him to add my ones to his pile also, Misty shuffled on her bottom back towards her husband and wrapped her arm loosely around her neck. However, she glanced over at Justin. She wanted more than anything for him to find all that he was looking for. But she couldn't help but inform him that his search may have been complete.

"Well… You did say that there were maybe forty of them. So perhaps they are all there?" the orange haired female offered but contrasting to his usual easy-going nature, Justin just muttered the words "maybe" as he started to count his conjoined pile all over again. Misty was the one to openly smile sympathetically. She would have reacted in the same way as her if any of her musings had gone missing.

But to prove that he was just as knowing as his wife but in his own way, after squeezing Misty back, Ash had an encouraging smile for Justin. And he had a good idea too. Following pushing his unruly raven locks from his eyes, he shuffled towards the younger male.

"Why don't we actually read what is on the sheets and see which words to the songs we have missing? We all certainly are familiar with the lyrics. So we should catch on which sheet is missing rather quickly. And then we'll be able to find it!"

Justin raised an eyebrow upon hearing this. I wondered if part of him was thinking, why he hadn't thought of that himself. Nevertheless, after Misty's eyes lit up slightly at the intelligence of her husband's suggestion and she planted a kiss to his cheek, the deep purple haired male soon went along with the idea. He grinned back at Ash. He felt like he was really onto something. I did too.

So for the next while, all of us read various lyrics and started to pile together which songs went to which. I of course helped out and grew occupied with piecing everything together but initially, I couldn't help but think to myself and I couldn't help but smile.

I liked when unusual groups fell together. That was one of the greatest things of knowing and being as close to as many people as I was. There would always be a strange combination that fell together. But when it happened, it was the most special of it all. And it always led to wonderful things.

While I was in the middle of piling together a song that I knew by heart, Ash had grown restless with the activity but not enough to give up, no. far from it, in fact. He had merely started humming one of Justin's songs as he bunched it together! And he even commented.

"I like that one." He told the deep purple haired male airily and while Misty just smiled nonchalantly and kept up her own search, joining me at my side, I couldn't help but notice the almost amused and secretive smile that took over Justin's face. However, he didn't say anything back other than a sincere "thank you" and with that, we continued our search.

The orange haired female was the one next to break our hard-working smile. She shuffled over to the deep purple haired male instead of being so close to me and she reached out to him to get his attention. When he looked up, she pushed her hair from her eyes.

"Does this one go with that one? Or have I got it completely wrong?" she asked and she looked rather apologetic to him after he husband had stated that they were all familiar with his lyrics but Justin didn't look offended in the slightest. Even though those words were coming from her – and they shared their creations with each other more than a little.

The deep purple haired male simply shook his head and pressed his lips together in a polite way, directing her to his own pile.

"No, that one goes with this one. And it looks like your one goes with my one." He told her and with that, after she handed over to him the piece of paper that she was holding, he took it and added it to his. And he looked at his pile and saw he was correct. He handed Misty a sheet of his own. She smiled bashfully as she accepted it and bunched them all together and then she couldn't help but say. She began to pick up the thoughtfulness in the younger male's eyes. "I reckon we really have found them all, you know? There must have been thirty nine."

I moved closer to my best friend and I enjoyed a scratch on the top of the head from him while at first, Justin didn't say anything at all. A part of him wanted to remain quiet before being compliant and agree with her that yes, there probably was thirty nine of them. But despite this, the deep purple haired male couldn't help but feel that there was another one missing to his collection. Even if it wasn't necessarily his own collection.

After fighting against the urge to not appear rude, soon enough he didn't resist telling Misty. And the way that he uttered it with such honesty made her understand that he was being far from argumentative.

"I really feel as though there's something else here. And I need to find it." He told her with a lot of certainty and in spite of that, before Misty and Ash too could nod understandingly, Justin added more words. He shook his head, reaching out to his pile of handwritten song notes. "I'm sorry if I'm taking up your time, though. I can always do it another time."

"Now is the time, Justin." Words were uttered and it almost surprised me to hear them from Ash. It was true that Justin and Misty had a far closer relationship than the two males – especially due to the hobby that they held dear to them. Nonetheless, it was obvious that Ash could bond with anyone and not just that – he could relate to Justin's drive – from the way that it was him to reassure him.

And with that, and after Misty and I had nodded in agreement and Justin exhaled gratefully, we all went back to checking the pages that we had found all over again. A part of me felt like we weren't going to find something but a part of me also felt I could be surprised.

I glanced at Justin. They were his songs, so was he going to be the discoverer? Apparently not. My head turned towards Misty. She had technically been song-writing for the longest. Would she locate the lost something? Truthfully, I didn't think so.

I didn't even need to look at myself! I knew that it wasn't going to be me. I briefly glanced over at my best friend. From the way that his pupils moved and then expanded and a hidden beam took over his face, it made it obvious that he was onto something. He kept it quiet a little bit longer to make sure. And then with simple gladness for Justin, he couldn't help but grin as he pulled a hidden piece of paper that had accidentally stuck to the other. He held it out for all to see as he continued peeling them apart.

"Got it! I found something. And it's gotta be what you're searching for." Ash announced and straight away, Justin's own eyes widened. He shuffled towards the older male himself as he watched and I was taken aback by the fact that he had as he separated the two bits of paper. But I couldn't be too bitter! While that was going on, Misty simply watched and pulled me onto her lap.

The deep purple haired male just caught sight of the title at the top and his carefully scribbled writing and the feeling in his heart made him know that Ash was absolutely correct. He breathed out a sigh of relief and reached across to pat the raven haired male on the back, behind his shoulder. Justin then glanced over at Misty with a smile. He just happened to smile. They just happened to share a moment.

And because of this – or perhaps because the younger male knew that Ash wasn't really the reading type – he didn't worry about him absorbing the words that were on the page. But in actual fact, my best friend's brown orbs glinted with curiosity as he took in the title that was on the top and the date too. Before it could register with anyone else that he was having a nose at what was written, he read aloud.

"Misty's song." Ash recited and straight away these words floated into everybody's ears and straight away we all reacted. It goes without saying that Misty reacted the fasted. But instead of her head snapping towards her husband, it snapped towards Justin. She had forgotten about that. She had completely forgotten about that and the secrecy that they had shared a few months back. The deep purple haired male's own eyes widened and all he could do was utter an unsure "ooh" noise as he didn't know whether or not to deter Ash or take the paper back from him before he read further. It was too late. Ash looked up and he looked between both the people who were sharing looks. "These are some really nice lyrics. But that date is way before you were born. Is it a cover? Is it a remix?"

Now, I didn't usually encourage people to lie but there and then would have been a good moment to do so! All it would have taken was a smile and a nod from Justin or Misty and Ash would have certainly believed them. After all, why would they have any reason to lie? And the title could be a coincidence. Or a mistake.

It wasn't like Misty to lie to Ash at all. But she had secrets. She had harmless secrets. And they had started when she was younger than their twins. She had things she wanted to say but couldn't so ended up writing a song. She always thought she would end up telling Ash but like the song went as well, she just didn't know how to.

While both the orange haired woman and the deep purple haired male continued to glance between each other and not say much at all – and they didn't even nod – Ash stopped looking at the page and looked right at me. I looked away abruptly out of neutrality. And I believed that it was because of this that my raven haired best friend started to get innocently suspicious.

His eyebrows began to knot together at the same time that his brown eyes continued to dance with intrigue. After scanning over the words one more time and turning it to the back too – for that one was double sided making it obvious that it wasn't an original to Justin even if it was in his handwriting – it was clear that Ash was thinking of the ex-rocketeers eldest son from the way that his eyes locked onto him. Soon enough, he said his name.

"Justin…" Ash started to address him and Misty managed to hold in a squeak. I did too. While Justin couldn't prevent his eyes from widening, the orange haired female couldn't help but feel slightly relieved it was the younger male about to be questioned. He most certainly was. It was an easy question, though. "Did you write this?"

It then wouldn't have been the perfect moment to lie. And despite the past of both of his parents, Justin was very disinclined to do so. He didn't shake his head. He didn't nod his head. He didn't press his lips together. He didn't open his mouth. He didn't look away. He didn't look at Ash. He didn't know what to do.

Justin kept one of Misty's own songs with the pile of his because he admired it so much and it inspired his own work and she allowed him to do so. But he knew that one of her first proper creations hadn't been shared with her husband, even if she longed to do so. But like I said, she just didn't know how to bring it up.

The deep purple haired male wanted to defend her. But he also wanted to play dumb also, waiting until it was obvious that she wanted to be honest or dishonest. Ash's eyes started to knot further at the unusual silence between the two extroverts. My best friend wasn't stupid. He could be labelled as innocent and dense and simple but he wasn't stupid.

The longer that both Justin and Misty wondered what on earth was the right thing to do, the more scenarios started to fly through Ash's head. And then all of a sudden, the raven haired male landed on one. He gasped. His eyelid twitched with amusement but then his eyes widened with the shock of it all – the shock of if he was right. He handed the bit of paper over to Justin. When it was Misty who snatched it up instead, Ash just had to find out if he was correct or not.

"Oh my god…" my best friend murmured and although his scenario was making him feel quite nauseous, out of disbelief of it all, the corner of his mouth threatened to quirk up. However, he pushed through that and managed to power on. He looked straight at Justin. But then he exploded with surprise. "Are you in love with my wife?!"

A silence took over the room. I hiccupped into hushedness. And because Misty's mind had started to race with all the ways she should have bought up her secret song to Ash over the years, when she heard these words, part of her forgot what was going on and she believed them! Her eyes dramatically widened. She turned her head to Justin. Then after being very silent himself he had his own reaction.

He burst into laughter. Justin burst into laughter and that sound filled the room for a good few moments. Ash did not smirk back. His eyes just widened. Part of him believed that his cackles were down to denying the accusations. Justin just laughed all the more. I had to fight very hard not to join in with him! But the deep purple haired male came to an abrupt stop when he saw the underlying look of a narrowing eye on Misty's expression.

Jessie and James' son gulped into silence all over again and his eyes widened once more. He shot Misty a look of an apology and tried to explain himself. He tried to explain himself to Ash and Misty in one.

"No! I mean no, of course I'm not!" he explained and as his voice rose, he knew that although he was getting off the hook from Ash who breathed out a sigh of relief and held me close as I climbed onto his lap, he was digging himself a bigger grave when it came to Misty. He held his hands up in defence and they flailed as he continued. He stammered. "I mean… I mean…"

And with that, the deep purple haired male decided that no excuses he could muster up would have been any help at all. He could tell her that he found her a very wonderful woman but it would have been strange for him to say that for the first time in front of her husband! He could say that if his dad didn't end up with Lynne then he would have wished that he could end up with her. But that would have hardly been appropriate.

So in the same way that Justin knew the ins and outs of songs and when to project and when to whisper, the deep purple haired male knew when to keep quiet. The eldest Morgan male knew to keep quiet with one last thought. It was up to Misty to tell the truth or not tell the truth.

"I… I think I'll leave you to it. These papers of mine have caused this family enough havoc today." He uttered and made a clicking sound with his mouth as an apology and then he bustled around to collect all thirty nine pages of his notebook together before he headed off, leaving his hat lingering in their living room. He had to leave that with them. He decided to leave the "Misty's song" page with the orange haired female as well. It was most certainly up to her. I slid off Ash's lap all over again after waving goodbye to Justin to see what happened.

My best friend went unusually quiet. Filled with relief that yet another of the Morgan boys didn't have a crush on his wife, he thought about everything that he had seen. He had seen a title with his beloved Mist's name. He had seen a date that went back to when they were journeying together as kids. He had seen words that… summed up how he had felt about Misty? Granted, he had felt like that about her when he was slightly older and figured it out for himself.

But because of this and because of the fact that he related, he couldn't help but wonder… Is that how Misty felt about him all those years ago?

He exhaled while the orange haired female felt like she was ten years old all over again and didn't know how to tell him that she had written those words for him. Luckily for her, he had figured it out himself. He really wasn't stupid at all. He reached out to brush her bangs from her eyes for her but he didn't smile. But he asked.

"Mist… Did you write that for me?" he questioned and with that, it all came pouring out from the orange haired woman. I felt as though it came tumbling out as if it would have done all those years ago. I guess if you felt one way once then part of you always felt that way. And so, Ash got told.

He was told of how she had all these feelings but no one to turn to who she could trust so she had written them down and turned them into a song. While she battled whether or not she could tell her best friend that she loved him as more than friends, she got the inspiration to a song.

She had always wanted to tell him about it. She wanted to tell him about it when they were teenagers. She wanted to tell him about it when they began to date. She of course wanted to tell him when they married! But part of her couldn't. Part of her still felt like he wouldn't understand, even though they had been in love for years.

After Ash then heard about how she had shared it with Justin when he had been nervous about the reception of his own song and Misty looked down at her lap, his expression instantly softened almost more than I had ever seen before. His eyes fluttered shut briefly and then they opened again. He leaned forward to press a kiss to her forehead. Her breath hitched in her throat.

"I love you…" he told her with a slight chuckle but he still meant every bit of these words and she knew this when she looked back up and met his eyes. The ten year old inside of her was unsure of how he was going to truly react but needless to say, she didn't have to worry at all. Ash bit his lip. Ash grinned. Ash was in love. He always had been. "I can't believe you felt that way even then, Mist. And to express it like that? Whoa. No wonder it took you forever to tell me. You had already got it out your system."

And with that, Ash scrunched his nose up playfully and he leaned to press a kiss to his wife's lips. She melted against his lips and kissed him back but after his words registered with her, she couldn't help but scrunch her own expression up and pull away, pressing her hands against his chest. Ash just grinned at her. He knew that she could never get him out of her system. He was the same with her. He added.

"You know what I mean." He told her and he reached to hold her hands after they resided on his chest. While Misty pulled a face before she sheepishly smiled and nodded, Ash's face lit up all the more. And there and then, I knew exactly what it meant. He gestured with his head towards the piece of paper left on the floor. But he looked right at his wife. He looked right at Misty as he asked. "So… Can I hear it after all of these years?"

Butterflies fluttered through Misty's stomach, I was certain of it. That bashful expression took over her expression all over again. She thought about it. She wanted more than anything to grant her husband's wish because he had granted so many of hers. But she felt a tiny bit exposed at her song for him being out in the open – even if it was a good feeling. She wanted to take the control back. She wanted to tease him. So she did exactly this.

I looked away (and Justin should have counted himself lucky that he had exited the room!) when Misty gave Ash a slightly more passionate kiss after this moment. And after the raven haired male believed that his wish was going to be granted, the orange haired female kept him on his toes by shaking his head.

He stuck his bottom lip out and widened his eyes while Misty smiled and stood her ground. She lightly poked him on the end of the nose before flicking it upwards. She shrugged.

"You've waited twenty more years, Ashy. I think you can wait just one more." She told him and despite the fact that he had the expression conveying that he didn't think that he could, Ash still knew when to let something go. When it came to the love of his life, anything was worth waiting for.

Even so, he was about to grab her waist and lean back towards her and give her yet another kiss and if she granted his wish there and then then so be it – when it was no longer just them in the room. I was still there and wondering when I should leave when Rey came sauntering into the room. She had a similar expression to her father's prior pouty one! She had wide blue orbs as well. She sniffled to her parents that James and Jessika had excluded her from their playing just a little bit and straight away, Misty lightly gasped and moved away from her husband, scooping their youngest daughter up. She nuzzled her nose against hers to soothe her.

"Awww, our sweet little sunshine, no one could forget about you." She told her and straight away, the two year old child relaxed into her mother's arms and she felt as though she could trust them both when Ash smiled softly in agreement and reached out to stroke her cheek. When the dark chestnut haired little girl's stomach rumbled in between her unclenching, Misty giggled gently. "That's a good idea though, sunny girl. You skipped your nap today so you should probably take one while I make dinner. Then you can wake up and eat."

Naturally, the raven haired male's own eyes glinted as if that sounded like a very nice plan to him! But due to being a toddler, little Rey tried to fight it. However, when her mother began gently rocking her from side to side, she couldn't help but let out a yawn. Misty tilted her head on one side down at her daughter but she didn't address it other than that. She continued rocking her. Rey continued fighting off sleepiness.

Ash and Misty shared a look. My raven haired best friend believed that they were just sharing adoration for their child which they were. But I knew that the orange haired woman had realised that it was the perfect time to share something that she had been holding in for a very long time.

As Misty continued rocking Rey, Ash rested his cheek against his wife's arm and watched peacefully and I moved close to him as well. The orange haired woman didn't make a big deal out of it at all. The raven haired male didn't think anything of it when his wife laid his daughter down into her arms into a cradling position. He merely smiled. He merely felt loved. He had no idea that that feeling would grow even more intense with what happened next.

Misty bought her cheek close to their daughter's as Rey's blue orbs flickered shut and as all of us shared that closeness, she started to sing. And soon enough, she began to sing. She began to sing her song. She began to sing her "Misty's song".

Ash's eyes flickered with curiosity when he first heard the unfamiliar words but he smiled when he heard the familiar melody. And when realisation took over his brain as he recognised the words to be the ones he had read earlier in the day, he couldn't fight off a beam. His smile beamed. His eyes beamed. His heart beamed.

Misty sang her "Misty's song" – her song for her husband – for their youngest little girl, Rey. She knew that there wasn't a more perfect moment than to share it with her husband there and then. Because not only did they share that little girl together but they shared four other children. They shared a home. They shared a heart. They shared a marriage.

And perhaps most importantly of all, the love that Misty had for Ash started way back when she wrote that song. It had definitely grown. It had definitely expanded. It had definitely changed. But it all started there and then. And there and then I knew that I couldn't be more grateful. They had truly joined together when they fell in love. And I too was in love with all of the joys and memories and creations that they had put forth when they merged in that way. And of course all of their little stories too.

The End.

There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 It was fun to go back to Ash and Misty after everything. After all, that little couple is how I started writing! But it was interesting to bring Justin in. No doubt would Ash have found out about this particular special song of Misty's that she wrote for Ash if he hadn't been for him. And of course, Ben and Katie played a huge part in it as well! It's funny that Misty kept it a secret for so long but I like the idea that a part of her was unsure how to broach the subject with him. Even though it was of course well received - it reminds her of a time of vulnerability. And that feeling probably has never left. But in a good way :3 Thanks again for reading and I will be back again next Wednesday with another Ash x Misty chapter so see you then!
