I'm pleased to see Remus's rejection of the Triwizard Tournament was well received. I always disagreed with the revival of a tournament that it was known was originally discontinued because of a high death rate. Furthermore, whatever precautions you might take, the tasks that were used in canon would never fit my definition of safe. Also, it was my original intent to introduce the student exchange program at Hogwarts in Harry's fifth year. However, due to the suggestion of Nanchih of incorporating some shorter visits into the program, I will now be introducing the student exchange program into Hogwarts in Harry's fourth year while applying her idea of including some shorter visits. Also, a quick note that I named Lily Moon's owl Mario because Super Mario Bros was one of my favorite video/arcade games when I was a child. And yes, Sirius's house elves, Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde are in fact named after the Pac Man ghosts.

Twas the morning of Saturday, August 13th, 1994 and all through the Creevey house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

Five people were nestled all snug in their beds while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.

These people were Hugh and Tina Creevey, asleep in the adult bedroom, Colin Creevey, snoozing away in his room, Dennis Creevey, sleeping in his room, and Harry Potter enjoying sweet dreams in the spare bedroom.

Unfortunately, the Creevey house had only one spare room and there were currently hosting three guests staying with the Creeveys.

As such, Hermione Granger was sleeping in a sleeping bag in the living room and Ginny Weasley was asleep in a sleeping bag in the front room.

Neither Hermione nor Ginny loved having to spend a whole week sleeping in sleeping bags rather than in a proper room but as the Creeveys were hosting three guests and had only one spare room, this couldn't be helped.

As everyone in the house was asleep, there was a tapping on the window of the spare room. Harry awoke, but only he could hear the noise. Harry opened the blinds and saw that a brown owl was outside his window. Harry recognized this owl as Lily Moon's owl, Mario. Mario was carrying both a card and a letter. Harry opened the window and let Mario in. Mario dropped the card and letter into Harry's hands and immediately took off again. Harry closed the window and shut the blinds.

Harry set the letter down on his bed and looked at the card.

The card was a bright and vivid shade of green and had words on the front in shimmering all caps silver lettering that simply read THANK YOU TO A FOREVER FRIEND! Harry opened the card and saw that Lily had written a short message in silver ink.

The message read:

To my dear friend Harry Potter, thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving my family. Your support, kind heartedness, and generosity have kept my family together.

Instead of signing her name, Lily had scribbled three silver squares below her message and drawn a green symbol in each. In the left square was a green heart, the middle square had a green lily, and the right square contained a green moon.

"Brilliant!" said Harry to himself, as his brain translated the symbols into the message Love Lily Moon.

Harry felt tears form in his eyes. Keeping Lily's family together was EXACTLY why he'd provided the necessary funds for Lily's mom to have the surgery she needed. Harry also felt his insides radiate as he could feel Lily's appreciation in her words. So many people could be helped out and take that help for granted. Lily was clearly not of these people. Lily clearly understood the magnitude of what Harry had done for her family and was truly forever grateful for it. Harry admired Lily's high gratitude coefficient.

Harry now set Lily's card down on his bed and picked up her letter.

Written in black ink, Lily's letter read:

Dear Harry Potter:

Hey! It's me, Lily Moon! My mom's surgery was successful! She is now resting as she recovers from her surgery. They're going to keep her a few more days for observation, and she is pretty sore and tired right now, but she's in reasonably good spirits. I can't thank you enough for providing the needed money for my mom's surgery. Then again, I shouldn't have been surprised. You are the kind boy who invited me to your birthday party when I was just a complete stranger to you. One thing I would really like to ask of you is to wear that sweater I made for you in public multiple times, including in Hogsmeade. I want the message of inter house unity to really spread this year. There was an incident in Charms last year in which Flitwick put us in pairs to practice. The Ravenclaw girl I was partnered with initially refused to work with me and told Professor Flitwick that she hated bitches and bullies. When Flitwick asked her how she knew I was a bitch and a bully, the Ravenclaw girl told Flitwick that the fact that I am a Slytherin proves that I am a bitch and a bully. We Slytherins are constantly struggling against this reputation. You have already set a good example by being a Gryffindor who helped keep my family together while knowing I am a Slytherin. I also have to give credit to Remus for his actions as headmaster. I already noticed last semester that the elimination of the house cup greatly improved inter house relations. Allowing people to sit with whoever they want at meals was another step in the right direction. Speaking of which, I would like to spend more time with you and your group of friends without sacrificing my long term friendships. I will continue to eat breakfast and lunch with Tracey, Daphne, and now Astoria as well. But, when the new semester begins at Hogwarts, I'm going to join your meal buddies for dinner. In that way, I'll still eat two meals a day with my longstanding friends while being able to catch up with you and your friends at dinner. It's the best of both worlds. The Greengrass family has invited me, Tracy, and our parents to stay with them the last couple weeks of August and go to the Quidditch World Cup with them and I'm looking forward to that. I know you'll be spending the end of August at Ginny's house and your group will be going to the Quidditch World Cup as well. Have fun! Maybe we'll run into each other at the World Cup! I'm still at the hospital with my mom for a few more days. To keep mom calm, I've been reading to her while she's been awake. I'm currently reading her The Silver Chair and she's enjoying it. Mom needs to take it easy these next few days and me reading to her is a good way to keep her occupied when she's awake. Well, I have to go, but thank again for saving my family. You are sweet and kind, Harry Potter.

As with the card, Lily had not put her name at the bottom of the letter but had drawn the same three silver squares with the green heart, green lily, and green moon in them from left to right.

Harry was glad to hear that Daisy Moon's surgery had been successful. He was also happy to know that Lily was standing by Daisy and supporting her. Clearly, Lily was Daisy's greatest source of comfort.

Harry now looked over at the alarm clock in the spare bedroom and saw it was only 2:15 A.M.

Harry realized right away what had happened. Lily had intentionally timed this letter to arrive in the middle of the night. Her aim was to make sure Harry could see her card and letter in private first.

Harry smiled as his face lit up.

It was nice to feel appreciated.
