On the evening of Friday, September 16th, 1994, Harry, Collin, Dennis, Hermione, Ginny, Luna, Susan, and Lily had just polished off a delicious dinner of thick high piled roast beef sandwiches, curly fries, and Budweiser when it was time for Ginny and Lily to head off to choir tryouts.

"Ginny, Lily?" asked Harry warmly, "Would you like the rest of us to accompany you to the trials and cheer you on and support you?'

"You are sweet and kind, Harry Potter, " said Lily glowingly, "However, guests are not allowed at the trials. The only people allowed at the trials are the students who are actually trying out for the choir and the staff members who are administering the trials."

"We're not even allowed to tell where the trials are taking place," added Ginny seriously, "Because the trials are largely going to encompass singing songs and performing things that we will actually be doing as part of the choir, we are forbidden from saying anything at all about the trials other than whether we are selected for the choir or not."

"That's the right way to do it," agreed Susan, "It should be a surprise what the school choir does when they perform."

"I wouldn't want that surprise spoiled for myself, " said Luna dreamily, staring up at the ceiling.

"Ginny, Lily, " promised Hermione, "The rest of us will wait in the Great Hall while you two are at trials and you can tell us when you get back how you did."

Harry, Collin, Dennis, Susan, and Luna all nodded fiercely at this.

"Good luck, Ginny and Lily, " said Harry confidently, "I KNOW you're both going to make it."

Both Ginny and Lily beamed at Harry as they got up and walked away to go to their trials.

Once they were gone, Hermione had a nervous look appear on her face.

"What's wrong, Hermione?" asked Harry.

"I'm worried about Ginny," admitted Hermione bluntly, "I think if Lily doesn't make it, she'll take it in stride. I think for Lily being in the choir is something she would like to do and enjoy doing but I don't think she's that passionate about it. Ginny, on the other hand, well let's just say that I honestly believe that if Ginny were to look into the Mirror of Erised at this exact nanosecond, she'd see herself being in the choir. Ginny is very passionate about her singing and very passionate about this opportunity. I believe she will be devastated if she is not selected for the choir."

"We won't have to worry about that, " said Harry certainly, "Ginny and Lily are making this choir. Period."

"it's easy to say that based on having heard them sing," said Hermione seriously, "But we have no idea about anyone else trying out for the choir."

"This is a crucial point, " agreed Colin, "Sometimes you can be great at something, and other people are still better at that thing."

"Like how Emmitt Smith is a great running back, but Barry Sanders is a better running back," added Dennis, "What if Ginny and/or Lily aren't selected not because they aren't good enough, but others are just better."

"It could go either way, " said Susan matter of factly, "But I share Hermione's nervousness."

"It's up to us to support Ginny and Lily no matter what, " said Luna, now staring at the westmost wall of the Great Hall."

"I'm confident with the current staff that the trials will be conducted fairly, " said Hermione in a businesslike voice, "I guess it's wait and see."

"It's wait until Ginny and Lily come back as members of Hogwarts Choir," said Harry firmly.

Time passed with a confident Harry and a nervous Colin, Dennis, Hermione, Susan, and Luna waiting until Ginny and Lily would come back.

None of them knew exactly how long the trials lasted before Ginny and Lily returned, but when they did, they both sprinted back to the group with broad smiles on the faces, which were both oozing happiness.

'WE MADE IT! WE'RE BOTH IN THE CHOIR!" yelled Ginny and Lily together, "YOU LIKE THAT! YOU LIKE THAT!"

"WE DO!" replied Harry, Colin, Dennis, Hermione, Susan, and Luna in unison.

"I knew you two'd make it, " said Harry proudly, "High five?"

Harry held both has hands up and as Ginny and Lily made their way back to the table, Ginny high fived Harry's left hand with her left hand while Lily high fived Harry's right hand with her right hand.

"The rest of us were so nervous," admitted Hermione, "But Harry kept on telling us that you would both make it and seemed relaxed and carefree the whole time, not to mention confident."

"You are loyal and faithful, Harry Potter, " cooed Lily.

"It's only because of Harry that there is a Hogwarts choir in the first place, " Ginny reminded Lily, "Harry wrote to Headmaster Lupin over the summer and suggested Hogwarts offer a choir for the musically talented after he was impressed with my singing. While the creation of this choir has opened and will open opportunities for many students, Harry's motivation in asking Headmaster Lupin to create a Hogwarts choir was specifically to allow me a chance to let my singing talents flourish. This will be a wonderful way for me to distinguish myself from my brothers. Harry sending Headmaster Lupin that letter suggesting and asking for the creation of a Hogwarts choir was a wonderful act of friendship on Harry's part."

"Those of us who have Harry Potter as a friend are the luckiest people in the world, " piped up Lily, "This is the boy who provided the money to my family for my mom to have her life saving surgery. Loyalty doesn't go much deeper than that."

"I'll always be here for any of you when you need me," said Harry fiercely, "I'm with you all, come hell or high water to our world. But, Ginny, Lily, what exactly happened at trials?"

"We can't give you details, " said Ginny calmly, "But we can give you a general overview of what happened."

"Please do," responded Harry.

"The first thing we did was sing songs individually, " explained Lily, "This eliminated some hopefuls who can sing about as well as Ron Weasley can be nice."

"In other words, some very shitty singers, " smirked Ginny.

"Once everyone had passed or failed his or her individual trial, " continued Lily, "We sang in countless different combinations of groups so the staff members who selected the choir could evaluate how cohesive each group was. The choir consists of twenty four people, three boys and three girls from each house. One boy and one girl per house from the early years, meaning first and second years, one boy and girl per house from the middle years, meaning third through fifth years, and one boy and one girl per house from the late years, meaning sixth and seventh years. I am the middle girl for Slytherin, and Ginny is the middle girl for Gryffindor."

"Congratulations, " said Harry radiantly, looking at Ginny and Lily in admiration.

"While I'm happier than a kid in a candy store to be in the choir, " said Lily honestly, "Ginny is more passionate about it. She told me on the walk to trials that she'd put in hours of practice time to prepare for these trials, something I certainly didn't do. I obviously didn't need to since I made the choir too, but much respect to Ginny for all the effort she put into preparing for this moment."

"I used a microphone, cassette recorder, and cassette tapes Harry got me for my birthday to practice, " said Ginny glowingly, "Harry purposely chose to give me those things for my birthday because he wanted me to make this choir for me as much as I wanted it for myself. "

"Ginny, Lily, may I ask you two a favor?" inquired Harry, "I know you can't sing anything you'll be performing as part of the choir, but could the two of you sing something for us?"

Ginny and Lily burst into song.

"Oh! give me a home where the Buffalo roam,
Where the Deer and the Antelope play;
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the sky is not clouded all day.

A home! A home!
Where the Deer and the Antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the sky is not clouded all day

Oh! give me land where the bright diamond sand.
Throws its light from the glittering streams,
Where glideth along the graceful white swan,
Like the maid in her heavenly dreams.

A home! A home!
Where the Deer and the Antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the sky is not clouded all day

Oh! give me a gale of the Solomon vale,
Where the life streams with buoyancy flow;
Or the banks of the Beaver, where seldom if ever,
Any poisonous herbage doth grow.

A home! A home!
Where the Deer and the Antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the sky is not clouded all day

How often at night, when the heavens were bright,
With the light of the twinkling stars,
Have I stood here amazed, and asked as I gazed,
If their glory exceed that of ours.

A home! A home!
Where the Deer and the Antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the sky is not clouded all day

I love the wild flowers in this bright land of ours,
I love the wild curlew's shrill scream;
The bluffs and white rocks, and antelope flocks,
That graze on the mountains so green.

A home! A home!
Where the Deer and the Antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the sky is not clouded all day

The air is so pure and the breezes so free,
The zephyrs so balmy and light,
That I would not exchange my home here to range,
Forever in azures so bright.

A home! A home!
Where the Deer and the Antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the sky is not clouded all day."

Harry, Colin, Dennis, Hermione, Luna, and Susan just smiled at Ginny's and Lily's beautiful singing.

Ginny and Lily were going to be great assets to Hogwarts choir with their beautiful singing voices.
