At 9 P.M. on the night of Saturday, October 1st, 1994, Headmaster Lupin called a special meeting of Hogwarts students and staff in the Lily Potter Hall to introduce the two exchange students from Beauxbatons who would be staying at Hogwarts throughout October.
The two exchange students had arrived that morning under Disillusionment Charms that allowed Lupin to give them a tour of Hogwarts during the day without being pestered or interrupted.
Standing at the center of the staff table, Lupin, who was holding a large purple megaphone in his left hand and his wand in his right hand, put the megaphone to his mouth and explained, "The selection process used by Beauxbatons to determine which two Beauxbatons students would be awarded the privilege of coming to Hogwarts for October was very similar to the process used by Hogwarts to choose which two Hogwarts would be granted the opportunity to go to Beauxbatons for October. Just as Cedric Diggory was selected as one of the two Hogwarts students to go to Beauxbatons because we know he is a model student who will represent Hogwarts well at Beauxbatons, the Headmistress of Beauxbatons, Olympia Maxime, wrote to me when the decisions of which two Beauxbatons students would attending Hogwarts were finalized and informed me that she had selected this particular student to come to Hogwarts because she is a model student who will represent Beauxbatons well while at Hogwarts. "
Next nanosecond, Lupin pointed his wand at what looked like a streak of silvery light adjacent to him at the staff table and performed a nonverbal spell to undo the Disillusionment Charm.
The silverly light vanished to be replaced by a sixth year girl with sheets of silvery blond hair who greatly resembled a veela.
"Let's a have a warm Hogwarts welcome for Miss Fleur Delacour, " piped up Lupin.
There was a spattering of polite applause. The students and staff seemed to accept Fleur, though many were a bit taken aback or caught off guard by her resemblance to a veela.
Fleur waved politely waved at everyone in the Lily Potter Hall.
"Ello, Ogwarts, " said Fleur in a shy and nervous voice.
"Miss Delacour, are you okay?" asked Lupin kindly.
"Yes, " confirmed Fleur, "I've been looking forward to being an exchange student at Ogwarts, but I'm still feeling a few butterflies."
"That's normal, and that's okay, " said Lupin reassuringly, 'Some nerves are normal in a new situation or circumstance or place."
"I was fine during zat tour e had, " said Fleur quietly, "But ze nerves kicked in zen I saw all zese people."
"It can feel overwhelming to be introduced to hundreds of people at once, " acknowledged Lupin in understanding, "But rest assured that you'll be treated well here. But I think the time has come to introduce Hogwarts to our other exchange student from Beauxbatons."
"Do," prodded Fleur, "Se's a very interesting person and I zink Ogwarts will be excited to ost er."
"So," explained Lupin to the students and staff of Hogwarts, "Just as Alicia Spinnet was selected as one of the two Hogwarts to go to Beauxbatons because she was clearly someone who really appreciated the opportunity, so too the person I'm about to introduce was chosen to be one of the two Beauxbatons students to come to Hogwarts because it was clear she was someone who really appreciated the opportunity. Madam Maxime spoke most highly of this person in her letter to me."
A minute and a nanosecond later, Lupin pointed his wand at what looked like a streak of hazel colored light and performed a nonverbal spell to undo the Disillusionment Charm.
The hazel light disappeared and standing where the hazel light had been was an average sized average heighted sixth year girl with curly brunette hair and hazel eyes.
"Let's have a warm Hogwarts welcome for Miss Emily Explore, " called Lupin.
Again, a scattering of polite applause filled the Lily Potter Hall. Everyone felt curious about this second exchange student from Beauxbatons after Fleur had called her an interesting person.
"Good evening, Hogwarts, " said Emily excitedly, "Let's get straight to it; I am a descendant of Nicholas Flamel."
Gasps, whoops, and oohs instantly filled the Lily Potter Hall. Fleur had undersold Emily. She wasn't just interesting. She was fascinating.
"The name Flamel has died out, " explained Emily, "There was a generation where they had two daughters and no sons and both daughters took on their husbands names after marrying. Their children bore the last names of the fathers, so the name Flamel died out. But he is my ancestor."
It felt surreal for everyone to be in the presence of a descendant of the greatest alchemist the Wizarding World had ever known.
Emily suddenly had an angry look etched upon her face and spat, "I hope Dumbledore is rotting in hell now. He deserves that after destroying the Sorcerer's Stone on Nicholas. That wasn't Dumbledore's decision to make. Only Nicholas had the right to make such a decision and Dumbledore stole his agency."
Emily let off a bit of steam and when she had calmed down she told everyone, "I am fluent in English because I was raised in a bilingual household in France with both French and English being spoken. Fleur on the other hand, only started studying English about a month ago. She already speaks reasonably good English, especially for having only known any of it for month, but there will still be times when her struggles as a novice English speaker will be obvious. I ask you all to respect Fleur and not mock or make fun of her struggle with English nor tease her about it. "
Everyone nodded.
"You will learn more about Miss Delacour and Miss Explore as October wears on," Lupin promised the Hogwarts students and staff, "I asked them not to share with you tonight their favorite foods, music, sports, colors, or academic subjects nor which academic subjects they are best and worst at. You'll learn more about all that in the days to come but I want it to be a process to learn about them and their culture."
"Where are Fleur and I going to sit at mealtimes?" inquired Emily.
"I'd like you two to sit with a different group at each meal so that you can learn about as many of our students as possible, " instructed Lupin.
Fleur and Emily both smiled at Lupin in both happiness and understanding.
"That's all for now," declared Lupin, "But, before we exit, let's have a massive round of applause for Fleur Delacour and Emily Explore!"
The Lily Potter Hall burst into so many loud cheers that noise engulfed the whole space.
Fleur and Emily felt their insides warm.
They were being accepted.
