The group met up to film the pilot. There were still a few things wrong with the group's costumes but it didn't matter if they got the funding. John and the rest of the cast stood behind the camera watching or waiting for a cue.
Carolyn rang the bell that would summon the butler Lurch, Ted Cassidy, who was now in a black suit and terrifying makeup walked in and despite the fact that Lurch was supposed to be mute he adlibbed. "You Rang?"
Carolyn and the others were so caught off guard that they started laughing hysterically.
"Wait, keep that. It's amazing!" Everyone agreed.
John would think back to that moment and remember how loud and joyous Carolyn's laugh was. How he loved that laugh.
The final part they had to film for the pilot was a romance scene. The air was thick with anxiety. Johns's heartbeat out of his chest, why was he feeling like this? A false peel of thunder rang out through the set. John, or rather Gomez, was holding one of Carolyn's, or rather Morticias, plants.
"Did I just hear a peal of thunder?" Carolyn's voice was light and elegant. A knot built in Johns's stomach.
"You did, Tish. You did." Each word he said unraveled the knot, only for it to come back when she next spoke.
"That's the most heavenly sound, It makes life worth living. You remember our honeymoon, Gomez?" She had reached her hand out, he had begun kissing it.
"Who could forget our first night in Death Valley." The knot grew tighter, why wouldn't it stop?
"There was a stillness in the air." She glided over to a false window, Gomez, or rather John, gazed at her like she was a goddess.
"Tish." The one word came out as a half sigh, half groan. The knot loosened.
"The moon was full. And that lovely soft
fluttering of bat wings. And the divine cave." Her eyes seemingly glazed over as she looked back at him. He walked over, his legs felt as heavy as concrete.
"You're so romantic, Tish" He reached his head over to her shoulder, kissing it gently, moving gently down her back. He strategically placed his hand in the middle of her back, reminding him where to stop.
"I think they're waiting for us Gomez, the music is so lovely" He stopped. He felt dazed like his brain was glazed over. He shook it off, taking her arm and walking out.
