A junkie shivers in the November cold. He didn't care, once he had his fix he'll forget about his problems. He hoped he had enough, prices were starting to go up. Seeing a shadow, he tenses. Hopefully this one was legit, he was not going to sell himself to married men again.

"Dammit." The dealer swears hearing the sirens. He turned to walk away just as his potential customer takes off. He was on his third strike. He needed to move his stash, he needed to buy Christmas presents for his girlfriend.

He shivered, not because of the cold, but something else. He walked faster, but but before taking out his switchblade.

SMASH!

He turned his head, spooked. Whatever was watching him wasn't a rival dealer. He walked faster, he was getting the hell out of there.

"Arghhhh!"

The junkie held his head at the screams. He swore he was getting clean after tonight. He prayed for a answer, guess this was his sign. He goes to the nearest payphone to call the free clinic. They offered free rehab and counselling services.

Sam was stubbornly trying to convince his wife to relax.

"Take it easy." He was so used to Piper's temper, he didn't flinch when she blew up a cabinet with her powers.

"Relax. RELAX! My baby was almost kidnapped by a demon! And you're telling me to relax?! Go to Hell."

Sam just smiles at her sisters. Both Phoebe and Paige were looking at him with sympathy.

"Can I get you anything?'' Baby Melinda was laying in her bassinet, she wasn't bothered by her mom blowing up a cabinet.

''Just for you to leave me alone." Piper said with irritability. Her leg was in a cast, doctors warned her it would take her months to heal. She sighed. "Sorry honey."

"Do you guys mind taking Melinda for her snack?" Sam asked. He holds his wife's hand. "She's with her sisters. No demon will dare attack." They redid their security system, it was designed even better than the old system. Once they took Melinda to the kitchen, Sam asked what was wrong.

"My leg, my baby almost getting kidnapped, a dead innocent, my family's clinic getting destroyed, plus Linda getting possessed, and oh yeah! Me and my sisters under suspicion for murder!" Poor Piper was incredibly stressed out.

"Melinda will be okay, we're all watching over her." Sam and Dean were keeping a very close watch. Unfortunately Dean had return to Lawrence, him and Jenna needed to provide for their baby. But Dean swore to find the demons responsible for breaking and entering. He told Sam he can be there in no time, just call. "Linda will be okay." Sam hoped so, he and Dean swore to help her. Shame that Sacred Meadows was destroyed. "Even as witches, we cannot stop an earthquake." Sam sat across from her and rubbed her foot. "You'll heal." A broken leg was nothing to them. They been through worse.

"And Sheridan?" The coroner concluded Channing Ngo's death an accident, but Sheridan was still actively trying to prosecute them.

"I don't know." Sam said honestly. Sheridan reminded him of that FBI Agent Hendrickson. Luckily the police proved that 'Channing' tried to kidnap the baby and let everyone go to Sheridan's chagrin. The police found DNA in their bedroom, with fingerprints all over Melinda's bassinet. "The DA believes that you tried to save Melinda from being kidnapped and dived down the stairs to save her." Evidence was weak, but the police wrote in their report that Channing broke her neck when Piper dived on top of her. As for Sam's injuries, he said he didn't see his attacker. He just hoped Linda's fingerprints weren't in the system.

"Yeah, but you don't know her." Sheridan was ruthless. Why she hated the sisters, Piper had no idea. "She'll be back." She smiled when Sam kissed her head.

"Mel is safe, that's all that matters." Sam swore to always be there for his family. "Relax, watch TV, read, whatever. I'll bring some snacks, and the three of us can watch television."

Later that night, Sam was scrolling through his phone when a news article caught his eyes.

Ice Pick Killer Strikes Again

"Not again." Sam sighs.

"Shh. Mel's sleeping." Piper whispered. Poor Melinda was still traumatized from that night and cried every night. Everyone was exhausted from taking care of her.

"Sorry." Sam puts down his phone. There was a job. But Sam knew he couldn't leave his family. He was debating calling Dean, but he didn't want to get him mixed up in this.

FLASHBACK

Lincoln, Nebraska

"I know Dean." Young Sam picks up his backpack. "I'm not a kid."

"You're way off from sixteen." A nineteen year old Dean scolded. "It's Dad's orders." There was mysterious murders in town. But Nebraska wasn't the only place. There were demons seen the next state over, and John ordered Dean to come along. He didn't want Sam hurt, and sent him here to scout. "Once you find out what it is, you call. NO HUNTING."

Sam had to force himself not to roll his eyes.

"Yeah, you told me fifty billion times." He gets out of the car. "Where are we again?"

"Here." Dean hands him a roll of cash from the driver's seat window. "I'll be back in a few days. Use that big brain to figure things out, and stay out of trouble."

Sam watches as Dean peels off. He wasn't a kid, he seen and done more than men twice his age. Sam looks at the dumpy motel sign.

'Dawn Rising Motel.'

Just as Sam was about to go inside, he sees the amount of money Dean left him. Hmm.

Sam soaks in the large tub. Why not?

Sam polishes off his meal, a medium rare steak. Room service was expensive, but for once Sam wanted to spoil himself. He counts the money. He'll tell John that he had to buy info.

The Hilton, he knew how jealous Dean would be if he found out where Sam was staying. Sam was sick of dumpy motels.

It took two days, but Sam found a clue. He poured over every article about the deaths, and thanks to the Internet, Sam was able to find a number.

Sam was holding a cloth over his mouth to talk to the coroner. He found his number thanks to the new online dictionary.

"I'm sorry, what was your name again?" The voice asked over the phone.

"Agent Kilmister." Sam lied. He was only a kid, and had to pretend to be a FBI agent from out of town looking for info. "There was two other deaths, both with the same injuries." All Sam knew it was in the head, the newspapers didn't say much. "If this is work of a serial killer, Head Office needs to know the details."

"Well I hope you catch the bastard. Whoever did this was sadistic. The pituitary glands were ripped out with a sharp object, this was no amateur. My guess it is someone that works in the medical field." He tells Sam the victim's names and ages. "All three were males, between eighteen and forty. Do you need the autopsy pictures?"

"Yes." Sam already prepaid the fax papers from the library's fax machine. "Don't forget the reports, I need this to put in my files." Sam was using his cellphone John loaned him. "Thank you. Have a good day. Bye." Sam had to go back inside before anyone uses the machine.

"Excuse me." A girl says after bumping into Sam just as Sam enters the library.

"No problem." Sam tells her back automatically. Seeing her reflection from the library doors, Sam couldn't help but check her out.

"Hey buddy move it." A grouchy voice says from behind.

Shaking out of his reverie, Sam moves out of the way. He watches the girl walking down the street. Feeling his pants getting tight, Sam throws his backpack on front of him. Feeling his face getting hot, he hurries inside.

Later that night, in his hotel room, Sam was reading a book. Not of lore, not of homework, but of puberty.

Growing up on the road he never had a chance at a normal life. Sure Sam knew the basics, but he never did what boys did at his age. Always on the road, he barely had time to make and keep friends. Never mind dating. He knew his dad and brother saw countless women, but never seen either have relationships. Except for Cassie, Dean confided to Sam that she was the only one that Dean ever cared about. He was heartbroken when Cassie dumped him after accusing Dean of lying.

Sam was embarrassed about what he picked up at the pharmacy that afternoon after he finished his job for the day. But in this day and age, who knows. Looking at the pictures, he wondered if he was ready. Thinking about that blonde girl, Sam blushed. He felt stupid for being embarrassed, he was alone. Even if Dean was in town, he wouldn't expect Sam to be here.

Ignoring the autopsy reports and pictures, Sam opened up his bag and takes out Dean's copy of Busty Asian Beauties. He just hoped Dean didn't read it yet.

Sam yawned as he ordered a triple shot red eye from the coffee cart guy.

"Thanks." Sam was exhausted from staying up all night. Not from research, but from the drunken neighbours from his cheap motel room. Sam never realized how fast his money was going in just a few days and was forced to live in a cheaper place. He swore to have a better life for himself when he grew up so he wouldn't be living like this anymore. He took his sip of his coffee when he saw that same girl walking in the town library.

"Amy Pond" or what her mother decided to call her for the next few weeks walked inside the library. She was exhausted and tired. She looked enviously at the people inside, they had normal lives, unlike her who was forced to eat scraps of food to survive. She yawned. She only came here to study, she didn't want to listen to her mother's rants about how Amy ruined her life just for merely existing.

Amy rubbed her sore cheek. She was glad she was skilled in makeup, she didn't want anyone to see the bruises on her cheek. She argued back that it wasn't her fault that her mom didn't use a condom, and ate her human dad after he dumped her. The beating she got hurt, but Amy didn't care. She was turning sixteen in a few days and once the clock struck midnight, she was gone.

She was planning on studying though. College was a few years away and med school wasn't cheap. She needed to study with whatever she can get her hands on.

PRESENT DAY

Sam peeked inside the bassinet. Mel was sleeping soundly, her body wrapped inside her baby burrito.

Sam was tempted to kiss her, but didn't want to wake his wife who was in a deep sleep. Carefully getting out of bed, he gets out of bed. He doubled checked to make sure Melinda's protective spells and runes were still up, and when Sam was satisfied, he leaves the room.

He didn't want to leave his wife and baby, but there was a case. Amy, she was killing again. But why? Last time she saw Sam, she swore off humans. Sam goes to the attic to check out The Book of Shadows. He knew the lore about kitsunes, but maybe there was something that wasn't written in any lore book.

FLASHBACK

A young Sam was getting a headache. He managed to find a book about monsters, there was one that caught his eye. He took out his cell to call Dean.

"A kitsune. I don't know. Looks human I guess. Only way to tell is see their long claws before they pick your brains. How should I know? Ask Bobby, he speaks Japanese."

"Shhh!" The librarian scolded.

'Sorry.' Sam mouthed. He looks at the fairie lore.

The kitsune legend originated from Japan. Described as mischievous creatures, they are believed to play pranks and tricks on unexpected people. Their true forms are rarely seen, they only show their forms to their closest companions. They rarely kill people, mostly choosing to play tricks instead.

Sam was perplexed. If a kitsune didn't like killing people, why is this one doing this? He needed a computer. Hopefully the Internet wasn't slow.

"Can I call you back? Yes I know." Sam rolled his eyes. "I know that monsters need to be killed." He sighed. "How long do I have to do this?" He puts his books away and walks to a computer. "I don't want to do this forever. No. Don't put him on! Hi dad." Sam listens to John's lecture. "I know. Family business." He types in a search bar. "I'll be careful. Bye." Why couldn't he have a normal life like everyone else?

Sam flipped through the pages of The Book of Shadows. There had to be something here that wasn't in any lore. He turned every page. Ha! Finally.

The kitsune can mate with humans, although their children will often be born sickly. Most kitsune will grow out of it as they get into adolescence, but in order to survive childhood, their parents will hunt humans for their brain stem. Unfortunately the kitsune will rely on the human for its food source, and will continue to hunt humans to satisfy its appetite. The only way to kill a kitsune is with a dagger to the heart.

"Dammit." There was a case, but Sam needed to be here. Amy had to be stopped. He was debating on what to do, he had magic, he could head to Montana and come back before morning.

"Sam?" Piper woke up to see Sam packing a bag. "What are you doing?" She whispered. Thankfully Melinda was still asleep.

"There's a case." Sam should have known better. Even in the dark, he could see her glare.

"Send Dean. You are not going. Mel needs her father."

"I know. But three people are dead."

"Call Bobby or any of your hunter friends. Come back to bed." She ordered.

Sam sighed. As much as he knew Amy was causing trouble, his family needed him. He puts down his bag and gets into bed.

"Sorry." He kisses Piper. "Can I send a text or email at least?"

"Mm hmm." Piper was falling back asleep.

Hopefully Amy received this.

'Amy, it's Sam Winchester. I know you are killing again. Please for your sake, stop. I don't know why you are doing this, and I don't care. I have several hunters on speed dial, and can hunt you wherever you go. FYI, I'm a witch now. A dagger isn't the only weapon I have.'

Bozeman, Montana

Amy was shaking as she read her email. So the rumors were true. Amy wrote back that she had no choice, her son was sick.

'I didn't have a choice. I heard you were a dad, you'll do the same thing. I'll find another way, Jacob, he is innocent in all this.'

Amy tried, she really did. She only dined on dead people and animals, till she got pregnant. Since her son wasn't human, he was born sickly, and needed to eat human parts to survive. At first her job as a mortician kept him fed, but as he grew, dead people weren't cutting it.

Amy knew what she did was wrong. But she rationalized only choosing people society won't miss was the only way. A wife beater, a thief and a drug dealer. But killing was killing she guessed.

Flashback

A young Amy was trying to walk away from the three bullies. She knew she could take all three, kitsunes were naturally stronger than humans.

"Where are going? We just want to say hi." The leader taunts.

Amy ignored him. She made a mistake trusting a boy. She was trying to live a normal life, by accepting a movie date. Date went okay, but the jerk told everyone Amy was a easy lay. Since then she was bullied relentlessly by everyone, especially by these three.

"Hey!" When the boy grabs her, forcing her to turn around. "It's rude to walk away."

"Frigid, isn't she." Another boy taunts. All three laugh.

Amy was ready to take out her claws and beat them senseless when she heard a voice.

"Hey!" A young boy that was seen in the library earlier was standing behind them. "Leave her alone."

"Get lost." The leader turns his back on Sam. "Can you believe this guy?"

"I mean it. Walk away." Sam throws down his book bag.

Amy couldn't help but feel flattered. But compared to these jerks, he was scrawny.

"Pgh. Lets take him."

Holy shit. Amy was surprised to see how strong this kid was, he knew pretty much every self defence where was. He dodged almost every attack and punch, and hit where it hurt. She thanked him when all three assholes ran off.

"Thanks." She was grateful. Although her mother wouldn't care if she killed those jerks, Amy wanted to be normal. She didn't need to eat people ever again. "I'm Amy."

"Sam." He picks up his book bag. "Well, um. I'll be seeing you I guess." He turns to walk away.

"Wait!" She walks up to Sam. "Mind walking me home?" She wasn't afraid for herself, it was those guys. They'll be wanting revenge.

"Sure."

Amy was delighted. She wasn't allowed to date, or have friends. Her mom was strict. Plus Amy was afraid they'll get eaten. She pushed down the memories of her early school years. Her friends ended up as orphans, her mom killed their parents to keep Amy alive.

"How did you learn how to fight like that?" As they walked away talking.

Amy sighed. She had a life here, but they had to go. She went to wake her son.

"Shh. I'll take care of her." Melinda was crying, she was hungry. Sam took her out of her bassinet to take her downstairs to heat up a bottle.

Half an hour later, Sam was rocking her in to sleep in her rocking chair.

"You are so precious." Sam was looking at her with love. "We'll make sure your future is safe." He hoped so, he dreamed she was a leader in a dark world. "Whoever is trying to take you, we'll make sure they are taken care of." Once she fell asleep after Sam burped her, he put her back in her bassinet. He checked on his wife, Piper was deep asleep.

Sam wasn't tired, all he could think about was Amy. He wasn't allowed to leave the house, Piper and Mel needed him. But that didn't mean Amy couldn't be stopped. He found a spell in the Book. Won't kill Amy, but will slow her down big time.

Amy was packing her bags when she fell with a splitting headache.

"Mom?" Little Jacob was looking at her with concern. "What's wrong?" His mom was writhing in pain.

"Just a headache. Keep packing." God. Sam was better than she thought. She sent Sam a email once her headache subsided.

'I get the point. I'll find another way.'

She had no idea how, Jacob needed to live. She hated to leave everything behind, she finally had a normal life. Not like that summer back when she was a kid.

A teenage Amy hands Sam a coke.

"Hope you don't mind, I prefer orange." She hoped her mom stayed out all night again.

"I'm not picky." Sam looked around. "You gave a nice house." He almost sounded envious. "My dad travels a lot for work, and I pretty much have to live out of a suitcase."

"Me too." Amy sips her pop. "This is the longest we stayed. Mom says this place is perfect for us." Amy tried not to think about what her mom did during her travels as a flight attendant. "So Sam. How is life on the road?"

They talked for hours. Sam and her exchanged stories about their adventures growing up.

"Saw the biggest ball of twine. Twice."

"Three times." Amy bragged. They both laughed. Soon they stared in each other's eyes. Their lips met.

"Wow." Sam was blushing with Amy. "I never kissed anyone like that before."

"Me neither." Amy's face was red. Other than her failed movie date, Sam was the first boy she kissed. "Hope you don't mind the music." Goo Goo Dolls latest hit were playing on the stereo.

"I don't mind. Dad doesn't listen to anything past '79. Oops! Sorry." Sam nervously tips over his can.

"It's okay." Amy hurries to clean it. "My mom is strict." Luckily the bare floor was easy to clean. "There." She throws out the dish cloth. "It's getting late." She didn't realize how much time had passed. "If my mom catches you."

"Yeah. Me too." Sam knew how risky it was for him to be out so late. "My dad is strict too. Especially when he drinks." He helps Amy clean. "Can I have your number?"

"I don't think that's a good..." Seeing car lights, she panicked. "That's my mom. Hide! Hurry!" She opens the closet door. "Stay there till she leaves." She slams the door on Sam's face just as soon as her mom walks in. "Hi mom. How's work?"

Sam remembered that night. That's when he discovered what Amy was.

"It was you." He was holding a dagger. "All those people."

Amy was backing away from fear.

"You're a hunter."

"And you're a killer." Sam's face was cold.

"I never killed in my life." Amy ate those glands in the fridge, only because she had no choice. It was the only way to get rid of her headaches. "I swear." Thankfully her mom was dead. Amy had no choice but to kill her when she discovered Sam's hiding place. "You have to believe me."

Sam and Amy stare at one another. Thankfully Sam puts down his knife.

"Here." Sam hands her his remaining cash. "Leave town. My dad and my brother will be here soon." Sam didn't answer his cell, Dean called several times. "Keep your head down, and I'll take care of things here." Hopefully they bought Sam killed the mother kitsune.

"You sure you don't want to come?" Sam confided to Amy that he wanted a normal life, and studied hard to get into a good college when he turned eighteen. "We can apply together." Amy didn't know how, she was a orphan now.

"Good luck out there." Sam waves goodbye.

Amy made sure she only took the basics. She had no idea where to go, Sam could find her wherever she runs. She looked at Sam's message.

'Try Japan. Your ancestors lived for many centuries without killing innocents. Hopefully you can pick up the language.'

Japan? According to ancient legends that's where kitsunes came from. Hmm. Maybe her son can flourish there. She had those nightmares, Jacob can get healthy and strong. Good thing she had passports.

"Jake? We're going on a plane ride."

"Where?"

"Our ancestral land." She changed to her true form, her nine tails shimmering. "Pack up."

'Thank you.'

'Have a good trip.' Sam wrote back. He knew she wasn't a bad person, just desperate. He didn't want her hurt, she did save his life back then. He puts down his phone. There was a bigger case, the demons responsible for Melinda's almost kidnapping. Plus that thing with Sheridan. But he needed sleep first. Sam carefully lies down by his wife, being careful not to hit her cast.

Jacob was frozen staring at his mom. Amy's dead body was lying still in her bed, she changed back to her human form after she was stabbed in the heart.

Messenger wipes clean his blade.

"Sorry kid." He was tempted to kill Jacob, but he wasn't directly involved with Sam Winchester. "You can still get on that plane, I can pay extra for first class."

Jacob stares at him hatefully.

"When I get back, I'll kill you myself."

"If the future doesn't kill us first." The kitsunes in Japan worked side by side with the warriors there. "Take care kid." Messenger hands him a roll of cash. "Here. Won't bring back your mom, but she'll want you safe.'' Messenger was getting tired of cleaning up after the Winchesters. He walked out of the room, little Jacob crying over his mom's body.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota

"How are you feeling?" Chris was watching over Bianca, her head injury was bad. She had a concussion.

"Better than home." Ugh. Her head. "How's Jody?"

"Far away from here." Chris knew there was a leviathan around, but had no idea who. He was waiting for Bianca to wake up, she had a knack on telling who's who. Especially with those black blood bastards.

"Good." Bianca hated hospitals. Even though she admitted this was better than the future. "And Jean Jacket?" He never gave them its name.

"Splattered." But he knew it'll be back. "Get dressed, we have to leave." Chris read the local paper, there were three missing people so far. The leviathans were getting sloppy. "If you see a chomper, squeeze my hand." He helps her up, she was getting discharged.

"Dr Gaines" and "Nurse Lori" were washing their hands, they just finished eating lunch.

"That was delish." Gaines was satisfied with that jogger, he loved eating vegans. Although they gave him bad gas. "And you scheduled dessert?"

"I did, two actually." After she dries, she hands him a chart from the desk. "A John Astaire and a Vicky Andrews."

"The time travellers." Those kids weren't as subtle as they thought, the leviathans were one of the oldest creatures in existence. Older than Fate, they could tell when the ripples of Time was changing. "Guess they're on the menu." He and Lori walked out of the OR, their stomachs were growling.

"My head." Bianca's head was throbbing. That bastard hit her harder than she thought. She stumbled. Luckily Chris caught her.

"Hold my hand." If a nurse caught them, Bianca was a sitting duck. They had to leave.

Gaines and Lori exchanged looks. Guess they saw them coming. They call security, telling them there was a missing patient.

"CODE WHITE. CODE WHITE. ER BAY ONE."

"We gotta move it." Chris had no choice. He loaded Bianca in a wheelchair and wheeled her down the hall. "Here." He hands her a pillow. "If anyone asks, I'm taking you to the maternity ward." There was a stairwell that led to the basement.

Bianca was still woozy, but did as he asked. Luckily her hoodie was big. Pretending to rub her belly, she allowed Chris to wheel her down the hall.

The two monsters walk down the hall looking for the two travellers. They had orders, failure was not a option.

"Can I help you?" A maternity nurse was working the desk and spotted the young couple.

"Uh. My wife." Bianca was breathing slowly, but was thankfully awake.

"Okay. Before I let you see a doctor, mind giving me your names and insurance info?"

"Grace Kelly." Bianca's headache was getting worse.

"She's a huge fan." He saw security guards walking down towards them. Shit. "Just give me the chart, and I'll fill it up myself. Is there a waiting area?" He grabs the chart and wheels Bianca away before the nurse could say a word. They were coming closer. "Anne, get up." He saw the stairwell's doors.

"Mmm." She didn't say a word as Chris carries her in his arms.

He leaves the wheelchair behind as he walks down the steps. Luckily the steps weren't very long.

"There was a couple here, he took his wife to the waiting area to fill up forms." The nurse tells the guards.

Guard One picks up his radio.

"Exit F, basement."

"Thanks." Gaines thanks the security guard in the security office in the basement. He and Lori go to intercept them.

"Jump in." Wasn't a ambulance, but a coroner's van was better than nothing. He throws Bianca in the passenger's side. "Hang on." He just hoped there wasn't a body in the back. He quickly hot wires the van before taking off. Just as he starts the van, he saw the two monsters leave out the same doors they came from. "Let's go!" He floors it, just as the two monsters come running after them.

The leviathans watch helplessly as the van drives off.

Dr Gaines takes out his cell to make a call.

Lawrence, Kansas

"Really? He isn't even that good looking!" Jenna and Dean were watching a old episode of Days of Our Lives. "Sami could do a lot better." Austin was okay, but Lucas was hotter. "Carrie should have walked away with that doctor." Dr Mike was a hunk. "At least Eric could comfort her." She always wondered what Dean would look like as a teen, she assumed Jensen Ackles was nineteen in this episode. She smiled at Dean rolling his eyes. "What?"

"Nothing." Eric was pathetic, he was mooning over Nicole, a washed up model/prostitute. "Talk about a hero complex." He was glad when the episode ended. "What do you want to watch next?" They were sitting at home watching television, the weather outside was in the minus double digits, it was way too cold to go anywhere. He saw the mailman walk up the driveway. "Mail's here." He was getting bored, there was nothing to do. Sam was still in San Francisco, he declined Dean's help with finding those demons responsible for nearly kidnapping Melinda, saying he and Piper were on top of things. Laura was napping, she was exhausted from playing all morning. The fire station didn't need him today, it was his day off.

Jenna was watching Gilmore Girls, she still wasn't used to hearing Jared Padalecki's character's name. His name was Dean Forester. It wasn't a bad show, but wasn't as interesting as Pretty Little Liars.

"Babe?"

"Hmm." Dean was talking to Rory about how he missed her. "What a pig." Poor Lindsey. "And I thought Sophie had it bad." Her character tearfully said goodbye to her ex-fiancé, telling Lucas that she wouldn't be the other woman. Her final scene was her taking that job in Chicago, refusing to marry Lucas, knowing he was still hung up on his ex.

Dean looks up at the television.

"He and that Connecticut Princess deserve each other." He never liked this show, he hated spoiled brats. "Look at this." He hands her Samuel Campbell's letter.

Jenna shuts off the TV.

"Sam, Dean. If you are reading this, you know I took the coward's way out. But I took steps to make sure my grandchildren are taken care of. This is my final gift to you, that way all four of you can be taken care of. Samuel." Her eyes went big seeing the check. "Is this for real?" She had money, but her bank account was pennies compared to this. She nervously hands Dean back the check and letter.

Dean stared at the numbers. It had both Sam's and Dean's names on it, it had enough money for both to live in luxury for the rest of their lives.

"It's real, I already called Sam, he checked it out. The old man had stocks and bonds, it went up big time." It was a piece of paper, but it felt heavy in his hands. Dean wanted nothing more than to rip it up, but thinking about Laura and Melinda, hesitates. "What do you think."

"Did Samuel make a Deal?" If he did, Jenna wanted nothing to do with it.

"I'll ask." Dean couldn't help but fantasize about the money. He could get a bigger house, start a trust fund for Laura to go to Harvard, quit hunting for good. Buy his wife anything she wants. "If it's legit, it could make our lives easier."

"Or to track us down." Jenna hasn't hunted as long as Dean, but she remembered her grandmother's wise words. 'If it's too good to be true, then forget about it.' She turned on the TV. "Let me finish watching this, you can decide what to do."

"Yeah." He puts away the check and letter. "I'm going for a beer run. Want anything?"

"No thanks." Jenna stuck her tongue out at Rory and Dean. "And I thought Sami was bad." At least Lucas was Will's father, if only Kate wasn't a bitch.

At the convenience store, Dean picks up Jenna's favorite snacks, plus his favorite beer. As the cashier was ringing his purchases up, a newspaper headline catches his eye.

DEAD WOMAN FOUND IN MOTEL ROOM, SON MISSING

"Paper too?" The clerk saw Dean reading it.

"Yeah. Ring it up." He hands him Jenna's debit card. Wonder if Sam knows that Amy Pond was dead. She had a son? Explains the dead bodies. 'Gotta buy that guy a beer.' Dean was no killer, he knew a few monsters were 'cured' thanks to Michael. Guess Amy had that itch. He thanks the guy and walks out with his bags.

Spokane, Washington

Jenna Winchester's bank details were flashing across the screen. A clerk was reading the bank files, she was under orders to watch anything about the Winchesters and Halliwells. She picks up the phone.

"Sir, A Jenna Winchester just made a purchase in Lawrence, Kansas. Do you want me to put our people on it?"

"No. Let things happen naturally. We cannot let anyone know what we are doing. Just keep an eye on them." CLICK.

"Okay." She clicks her headset. "Norman Bank Financial. How can I help you?" She was getting hungry, she saw a janitor walking around.

Dean was tossing and turning, he couldn't shut off the voices.

"You cannot stop the future! Just give up!"

"Leave me alone!" Dean shoots at the voices. He fired till the chamber was empty.

"Sam, Jenna, Laura. Your friends. Even your parents aren't safe in Heaven. The Beast will devour them."

"I said SHUT UP!" Dean threw his empty gun. He trembled in a ball.

"Nothing will stop the Future. Nothing."

"OW!" Jenna was holding her nose. "What the hell?" She shook him awake seeing him moaning in his sleep. What she didn't expect was Dean hitting her.

"Huh?" Dean was staring at his wife who was holding her nose. "I'm getting some water." He was aware he was trembling, whoever that was knew his name.

Half an hour later, Dean was drinking the last beer. He should have bought another case. Was any stores open for a liquor run? Sam! Sam had booze. Sam and Piper were throwing a New Year's Eve party. Dean will pay Sam back tomorrow.

"Dean, where are you going? It's four am.'' Jenna was in a bad mood, she had to change the sheets, Dean soaked it with his sweat. Plus her nose. Thankfully it wasn't broken.

"Just to Sam's. I'll be back in twenty." Dean knew how pissed Piper would be if she knew Dean made a mess at their place.

"Fine, but don't wake Laura." She heard about Mel, she and Dean put up Devil's Traps in every entrance, with salt and silver all over the property just in case.

"I'll tiptoe." Thankfully Laura was a deep sleeper, but thinking about Melinda, maybe that wasn't a good thing. Dean walks to Laura's room to make sure she was okay.

Laura was sleeping soundly, her small chest rising and falling.

Dean smiles as he tucks her in. So innocent.

"I'll always protect you. I'll make sure of it." He turns on her music box, he didn't know why, he always liked this tune better than 'Rock a Bye Baby.'

A tingle of "Time Goes Bye" started playing.

Dean didn't know why he bought this at the thrift store, something about that box looked so familiar. When he turned it on and listened to the music, he immediately bought home the glass music box.

"Sweet dreams." He slowly leaves the room.

Twenty minutes later was back with a plastic bag. Dean wasn't greedy, he only took one bottle. He also had a slice of pie, the twenty four gas station sold individual pie slices.

'What to watch.' He wasn't interested in watching Days, it wasn't as interesting as Pretty Little Lairs. But he was hooked on One Tree Hill, the characters in that show were really messed up.

"Really?!" He whispered. "Rachel, why are with that guy?" He liked Rachel, she wasn't a wuss like most of the show's characters. Unlike Nicole on Days, she was smart and ruthless. "Take that money and start over!" He finishes off the last of the liquor. "I'm out? Damn." He yawned. After the show was over, he stands up to go to bed. When he fell over, he realized how drunk he was. "Might as well sleep here." He didn't want to wake up his wife and baby.

Dean was in a deep sleep when he felt hands shaking him awake.

"Dean! Dean! Wake up!"

"Five more minutes." Dean was exhausted.

"DEAN!"

"Alright. Alright." Dean reluctantly gets up. "Ugh. Shouldn't have ate that pie." His mouth felt like cotton. "Sam? When did you get back?" He looked around, the sky was clear and blue with the curtains open. "Is my niece okay?" Dean was willing to kill any demon who was responsible for Melinda's kidnapping.

"She's fine. Here." Sam thrusts a steaming Styrofoam cup of coffee in his hand. "There's a case."

"A case? Sure. Just give me time to wake up." Dean needed a shower. "Where's Jen?"

"Home. Piper is back, Melinda too. They're not alone, Paige is with them. Phoebe couldn't come, she's in Utah."

"Utah? Oh right." Phoebe's friend. "Tell her we send our condolences." Dean slowly stands up. "Give me an hour." He stumbles over to the bathroom. "How's Sis?" Dean knew her cast was still on, it wouldn't be off for weeks yet.

"Okay, other than the complaining, she's just happy to be out of the city. That Sheridan woman, she makes her nervous."

"Whatever she has against them, hopefully it comes to nothing." Dean grabs a towel and shuts the bathroom door and turns on the hot shower.

Once they packed up, they walked towards the Impala's doors.

"Your friend. Sam, I didn't do that." If Dean wasn't so busy, he would have hunted Amy herself. Dean was freshly showered and cleaned up. When he called Jenna, he was surprised to hear how agreeable she was. She told him good luck and happy hunting.

"I know. I suspected you, then I remembered you working all week." Sam opens the Impala's passenger door. "Hope you don't mind driving."

"Baby needs to stretch her legs." Dean did a major engine overhaul, he got a bonus on his paycheck. He was tempted to buy new tires, but he didn't want to be greedy. "So where are we driving to?"

"Not that far, Lebanon. We'll be back before nightfall. Hopefully.''

"A milk run? Sounds good to me." Dean was itching to kill something.

"So any clues who yanked Amy; I mean, sorry. I knew she was your friend." Sam confessed to Dean years ago how Amy saved his life when they were kids. Dean wasn't happy to hear that, but he promised Sam he won't tell John, who would have insisted that they kill her no matter what.

"I already checked with the coroner, she was stabbed in the heart, professional kill. Whoever this was knew exactly what they were doing."

"With what the world went through, every hunter is now on high alert." That storm, Dean and Sam weren't the only ones who were affected. Luckily Piper and her baby were okay, whatever happened up there didn't hurt them.

A few hours later they arrived in Lebanon. Dean was starving.

"Gotta hit the nearest diner, man needs his food." Dean was dying for a cheeseburger.

"Soon. We have to hit the coroner's."

"So Amy, what happened to her kid?" Dean read the paper, she had a young son named Jacob. An Amber Alert was currently in effect, police thinks he was a key witness to her murder. The newspaper said the police were currently in a hurry to find Jacob.

"Wish I knew." They drove to a gas station to fill up and change to their Feds outfit.

"So why are we here?"

"Hotel clerk, witnesses say his throat was slashed with fingernails by a beautiful woman wearing a grey dress."

"Could be a jealous lover or a robbery gone wrong." Dean was sure this was about that kid. "Shouldn't we hunt that kid down? Not to kill, but to make sure nothing happens to him." Dean knew Paige was friends with that Kyra woman, she didn't care where her students came from.

"We already have some feels. Piper and Paige already sent out a SOS, the witches they know promised to keep him safe once they find him." Once they pull up to the coroners, they get out of the car. "Ugh! I forgot how cold December is." Sam was wearing a parka, but compared to California, Kansas was a ice box.

Dean pats him on the back.

"Faster we do this, faster we can sit in front of a warm heater."

"Jordan Kane, age forty two, died almost instantly." The dead motel clerk had three clean lines on his neck. "No motive for his murder, wallet and valuables were still on him, cash register was untouched." The coroner was touching his neck. "Whatever weapon was used, this person knew exactly what they were doing."

"Witnesses say a beautiful woman was the murderer?" Sam was talking notes, while Dean was studying the coroner's report.

"You have to see the tapes, the murder took place outside of the front doors. The local police station should have them."

"Thanks for your time." Dean took one last look at the guy. Three straight lines straight across. Poor bastard.

"You want to check out that crime scene, while I talk to the cops?"

Dean smirked.

"California spoiled you too much." Sam was shivering hard. "We'll meet back at Charlie C's." Naming a local diner.

The police allowed Dean to come across the yellow tape. There was snow everywhere, but in the entrance blood splatters were everywhere. But that wasn't the only thing, the air was heavy with sulphur.

"So what did you see?" Dean was interviewing one of the motel's maids. He was inside the lobby, he wanted to warm up.

The Hispanic woman shivered. She was spooked, whatever she witnessed frightened her.

"The Devil." She crossed her chest in a holy gesture. She saw Dean's expression when he looked up. "The cops think I hallucinated, but I know what I saw." She shuddered.

"Explain everything, don't leave anything out." Dean was writing things down.

"I just finished cleaning a room when I saw my boss outside having a smoke. I didn't think much of it, he always been a heavy smoker. Then I saw a woman wearing a grey dress walking out of one of the rooms." She pointed outside. "She stood out, her dress was very old fashioned, like a character from the fifties. But it was the blood I saw that made me look up. The woman, she was covered in it."

Demon. Dean should have known.

"What else did you see."

"She walked up to Jordan, and stared in his eyes. A few seconds later, she slashed his neck with her fingernails. When she turned around, her eyes were black. Querido Señor." She crossed her chest again.

"Okay. Did you see where she went?" Dean had a demon killing knife, bitch was going down.

"No. I ran when I saw those eyes. I didn't want to die as well."

"Thank you for your time. Before I go, can you point me to the room she came out from?"

Dean unlocked the door with the key the maid gave him. Crawling under the yellow tape he checks out the room.

Room 110 was neat and tidy, beds were made, there was no garbage or any signs there was guests staying here. Spying a drop of blood, Dean walks over to the closet with his gun out.

SLAM!

Nothing inside but hangers. Dean didn't know whether to be disappointed or relieved. He was about to close the door when he saw a faded symbol on the inside of the door.

Once Dean finishes taking pictures, he leaves the room.

"Sam, we're dealing with a demon." He was walking back to his car, talking on his cell to Sam who just finished at the police station.

"I figured that. Cops are looking for a suspect in a grey dress, but when I saw the eyes, I knew.''

"Forget the diner, we'll get everything to go. I'll call Jen, telling her there's a case." Demons were high priority, not many hunters were as well trained as witches.

"Already called Piper, Paige is making potions. They got a new batch of ingredients, she swears its better than the old potions."

"Good. Can't leave town yet, we need to hit the local library." The symbol Dean saw, he swore he seen it before.

Dean was looking through every book of lore he could find. He hated reading, but he needed to see why that symbol looked so familiar.

"Find anything Sammy?" Sam was looking through the Internet, so far Sam didn't find anything with reverse image search.

"Nada."

The symbol Dean was looking at looked like a infinity sign with a crooked line cutting through it.

Sam jumped when Dean sat up.

"Bingo."

"What." Sam already sent the image to Piper, Paige went to look in the Book of Shadows.

"It's a blood sigil. I recognize it." Dean didn't know jack shit about magic, but he knew who did. "Walter. Men of Letters."

"Okay." Sam was looking at Dean for a explanation.

"Look, I'm no expert, but The Men of Letters would know more about this."

"How? They're all dead." The American Branch was wiped out in the fifties, and they knew the British Men of Letters won't care.

"Look for any names. Not all of them would be wiped out." Dean didn't know why he felt so excited. He was so glad Sam brought him to Lebanon.

Normal, Illinois

"You sure this is the place?" Sam said this is where the Men of Letters main base was. Dean was looking up and down the street. Wow. Things changed so much.

"Doubled checked it." Sam gets out of the car. "Records say there was a large electrical fire, there were no survivors." 242 Gaines Street was a front for The Men of Letters secret hideout. Whatever happened in 1958 was long gone.

"Astro Comics. Might as well pick up a magna book for Jen." She loved Japanese anime, especially the show about those female moon fighters.

"Really. I thought you were going to get Japanese cartoon porn instead." Sam teased.

"Why not both?" They walk in.

Dean never been here, but everything seemed so familiar. He could almost smell the bourbon and cigars from down the hall. He looked around and touched a wood panelling and was instantly back to his final initiation after waiting so long.

"Dean. Dean!"

"Huh? What." Dean's mind was so far away.

"You okay?" Dean seemed so far away.

"Yeah."

"Are the plans almost ready?"

"Yes sir."

"And the witches?"

"Ready for assist sir."

Wow. Dean could almost hear the convos. When Sam called his name, Dean shook the off the voices. He walked towards Sam who was borrowing the shop's laptop.

"Remember that fire I talked about? There was four men. All dead.''

"But..." Dean knew better.

"Already screenshotted the names. Larry Ganem, David Ackers, Ted Bowen, and Albert Magnus. Ted Bowen, you think he was related to Prue?" He remembered hearing about Piper's great grandma's cousin named Bowen.

"Maybe. Would explain how they worked with the Men of Letters back in the day." Dean went to pay for the magna he found, unfortunately there was no DVD about his favorite movie. Oh well, there was always the internet. Once they left, they discussed looking for burial sites.

"We can cross off Bowen." Sam called Piper, she said she didn't know. But she made some calls to the witches in San Francisco. When she called back, she said the Bowen Family had his remains cremated.

"Okay. Larry Ganem."

"Buried in Alaska."

"Too far. David Ackers."

"Already checked, he is nearby, same with Albert Magnus."

"Guess we can check the gravesites." Dean hated this part.

"Adios." Dean threw down his match." Can't take any chances. "Poor bastard." His skeleton was charred, guess the Men of Letters needed to keep their secrets. "How's it going over there?" Dean walked over to Sam. It was after midnight, sky was pitch black. "Ugh. Going to warm up." Ground was frozen solid, Sam had to use his magic to unfreeze the ground.

"Almost got him." Five minutes later Sam calls Dean to come over. "Dean!" He jumps out of the grave, he needed to warm up.

"Huh." Dean was staring down at the corpse. "You sure this is Magnus?" The skeleton was wearing a WW1 uniform.

"I was hoping you'll tell me."

"You know Stephen was a member too!" Dean reluctantly paws through the corpse. Huh? In his jacket pocket, there was a note.

'If you managed to find this letter, we are no more. Abaddon, she is ruthless and evil and must be stopped. The Aquarian Star, the symbol of the lost Gates of Atlantis, represented us as the gatekeepers of knowledge and magic.'

The note went on to explain who Albert Magnus was, it was a code word if anything should be amiss, a member would seek another member out.

"Sammy! Help me close this grave!"

Abaddon walks in Astro Comics, she had a hunch Henry came running here.

"Love how you redone the place."

The comic book girl looks up.

"Like your cosplay, but next meeting isn't till after Christmas."

Abaddon looks up at the girl.

"Was there a man in a suit that came here asking questions?" The sales girl didn't have time to react as Abaddon reads her mind.

"Dean! Found some names!"

"Larry Ganem, David Ackers, Ted Bowen, and Albert Magnus."

Abaddon smiles.

"Clever son of a bitch."

"Don't hurt me!" The girl begs.

Abaddon looks down at her outfit.

"I like your top."

Sam looked up at Dean's whistling.

"Dad used to hum that." Sam recognized that from the movie Casablanca.

"I got it from Laura's music box." Dean whistled the last few notes. "Hope we are done soon, I need to be home. It's Laura's bedtime."

"Soon as we're done this. We'll be on the road in no time." Sam found the name written in the note Dean found, a Tom Carey. "Found our guy."

"Is it Henry?" Dean didn't know why he felt so nervous. He didn't even know what Henry looked like. Only stories from a drunk John rambling how his deadbeat father ran off on him and his mom, forcing her to be a mechanic to make a living.

"Don't know." Sam yawned and closes his laptop. "Mind passing me Dad's journal?"

"Huh? Sure." As Dean handed over Henry's journal, something caught his eye. "HW. Sam, did Dad ever say where he got this from?" Dean must have riffled over this thousands of times and never noticed the HW.

"I thought you would know."

"Never mind." Other than John's drunken ramblings and forcing his kids to the Life, he tried his best raising his kids. Always made sure their bellies were full, made sure both got their educations, and tried hard to keep them alive. "I'm going for a walk." Dean needed fresh air.

"We'll hit the road early in the morning! Don't stay out too late!" Sam yells as the door shuts.

What was Henry running from? Yeah Abaddon was a demon, but hunters been fighting them forever. Plus John. He rarely talked about Henry, except when he was drunk. Dean, even as a little boy felt the hurt and abandonment in John's tone. What about Walter? He was John's grandfather. He never once came to visit. Dean chuckled at the thought. Technically he was there, he was Walter once.

"Henry, what are you trying to tell me?" Dean wondered out loud. "You left Dad high and dry when he was a kid. Dad, he cried every night for the next six months when you left. He and his mom lost everything. And for what? A glorified book club? Even Walter prioritized his family first." Dean stood waiting for answers. "It wasn't just Dad that lost you, your father did as well." Silence. "Fine. But when I see you, you're getting a smack." Dean saw a late night liquor store, he needed a few drinks.

Abaddon stares at the dead clerk. She already checked out the back, the dragon tears and the sands of time were gone. Henry, he must have beat her here.

"Guess that leaves Larry." He was the only one Abaddon left alive that night. Henry, he most likely seek him out next.

"Dean, there's been two deaths. Astro Comics, and a an holistic herb shop." Sam looks at Dean with disapproval. "Really? It's not even ten yet." Dean was holding a half empty liquor bottle.

"Spare me." Ugh. "Coffee. Than a shower."

Sam volunteered to check out Astro Comics while Dean investigated the holistic shop. Ignoring the crime photographers, he checks out the crime scene.

No blood? Weird. He was dismayed to see there was no security cams, he wanted to see what Abaddon looked like. He checked out the back, he was surprised to see what was inside.

'These aren't normal ingredients.'

Sure there was the run of the mill herbs, but there was also rare and hard to find herbs not listed in any catalogue. Dragon tears, shavings of a unicorn horn, a cloud from Heaven? Weird. Sam and Sis would love to shop here. Sands of time? Out of all these weird ingredients, why is only two missing? Dean was no witch, but he knew unicorn shavings were a must have for powerful potions. He had to check out the body, see if it was a ordinary killing.

"So, what did you find out?" They were back in their motel room exchanging notes.

"The girl, throat slashed just like that guy at the motel. You?"

"Suspected allergy reaction, but when I looked at the body, I saw a hole. I don't think Abaddon killed that clerk, it looks like it was a indirect hit." Dean fills Sam on what he saw.

"You think Henry killed her?" Witch on witch violence, unfortunately wasn't uncommon.

"When we catch up to Henry, he has a lot to answer to." Abaddon was a demon, demons always left a mess behind. But the clerk at that store, Dean recognized a symbol on the window store front. Henry must have been there looking for a spell, and probably witnessed a murder. Dean refused to believe he murdered an innocent woman.

"Okay. I found Larry. He living in a home back in Lebanon."

"It's on our way home, hopefully Henry didn't beat us there first." Dean was getting a headache.

A few hours later both were sitting in Larry Ganem's living room. Larry was now in his eighties, remarried and living quietly with his wife.

"It was a slaughter. Abaddon, she was a hired gun. The Knights of Hell, they are trained killers." Larry shuddered at the memories. "Your grandfather, he ran to protect our secret."

"What secret. Larry, we seen and done it all. Sammy here, his wife's great grandma was a Baxter."

"Baxter. I remember Tom going back to San Francisco from time to time. Does that hospital still exist?"

"Unfortunately not. A earthquake destroyed it." Sam was saddened to know there wasn't any survivors.

"That's a shame, Henry's father spent his life's savings helping his friends open that place.'' He sighed. "Henry, did he survive?"

"No." Dean saw Larry's face fall. Even blind, he was devastated.

"I still don't know why Abaddon spared me, my eyes are gone." The pain was immense, but not as much as seeing his friends killed one by one. "Josie, poor woman is dead too when you think about it."

Sam cleared his throat.

"Ahem. What was Abaddon looking for?"

"The Key. The Key to all knowledge."

"That bunker?" Dean raised his eyebrow. He seen it on Supernatural. Daniel had the key, but that place was destroyed years ago, presumably by Henry.

Larry shook his head.

"There are other places with the same amount of knowledge. San Francisco, Scotland, Magic School, Whitelighter Temple, but this particular key, it was given to us to guard. Not the Order, but for us four to guard." He kisses his wife's hand who was stroking his face.

Sam and Dean exchanged looks. What exactly were they hiding?

''Can you elaborate?'' Dean needed a stiff drink.

"I can't. But if you find it, destroy it."

Destroy a secret key they know nothing about? Sam was about to argue when he saw Larry's wife pick up a knife.

"DEAN!"

"Abaddon." He told Sam and Dean to run. "My time is over! Find Henry!" That was his final words before Abaddon slashed his throat.

"Forget her! We have to move!" Dean grabs his demon killing blade and stabs Abaddon in the belly, needing her slowed down. As bad as he felt for Larry's wife, she was dead the moment Abaddon possessed her.

"Argh!" She grunts. "That's no way to treat a lady."

They run out of the Impala and drive away as fast as they can. The last thing they saw was Abaddon's glare from the review window.

"Call Sis, tell Paige to send everyone to San Francisco." They had traps in their homes, but Abaddon could try anything. No way was Dean going home, it was too dangerous right now.

"And then there was only one."

Lawrence Kansas

There was barriers surrounding a gravesite, a backhoe was digging up the gravesite of Mary Winchester.

"Where do you want this?" The guy asked.

"The coroner's, there will be a transport taking the body to a new location."

"Does the family know?"

"I have a court order. Just do your job."

"Yes sir."

The FBI agent already had everyone else, it was a pain to find everyone, especially John Winchester. He checked his death certificate, guy died of a stroke. According to his sons, he was cremated in a private funeral.

He sent a text to his boss, that he got the remains of everyone on the list.

'Good. Transport them to 94.'

'Yes sir.'

He never believed in organized religion, or anything magical. But these days, who knows. At least he can go back to his boring desk job. Finding international drug lords were easier.
