POV: Jay

Back with Jay right after the merge…

They were sucked into that thing, and Jay found himself falling from the sky, in that big mech, and its systems were failing, so he was falling from the sky at high speed. If he didn't get the mech working before it hit the ground, he was doomed. He could just jump out, but he knew he probably couldn't make it without breaking his spine.

"Nya? Kai? Cole? Lloyd? Can you hear me?!" Jay yelled through his communicator, but he received no answer.

He was only 100 feet away now, and Jay's last resort of reactivating the mech had failed. He knew he may never see his friends again, because he might not even survive the crash.

I'm sorry. Jay thought. I'm sorry I wasn't a better friend, and a better boyfriend. I'm sorry that I wasn't helpful, and just talked half of my life. Huh. More like ⅘ of the time…

They'll miss me.

No, they won't…

You can't do anything right, Jay!

I'm useless.

The possibilities of Jay actually knowing something is 0.1%.

I'm stupid.

Motormouth!

I talk too much.

Do you even care about what I want, Jay?

I'm a bad person.

We can send Cole. He is less likely to make a mistake. Unlike Jay.

I always mess things up.

You're both too valuable to risk. We should send someone more expendable. Like Jay.

I'm expendable.

And with that, the mech hit the ground, and it exploded. Jay felt the heat, and he was flung out of the mech and onto the cold hard floor beneath him. He tried to use his arms to catch himself, but felt pain surge through his right arm.

He barely heard his own scream of pain through the loud flames and explosions. The mech was on its knees, and started to fall forward, so that it would collapse on top of him, and also cause another bigger explosion, which could be the thing to take his life. He had burns and cuts, and a broken arm. Jay tried to move so the mech wouldn't hit him, but when he stood, his left foot sent pain to Jay's mind, and when Jay looked down to see what the problem was, he saw that a large piece of metal on top of it, and his leg was stuck and crushed. Trying to bear the pain, tears streaming down his face, he tried to pull his leg free. He succeeded, and ran for his life, he succeeded in getting out of being crushed by the mech, but couldn't avoid the explosion. A huge cloud of fire and chunks of metal from the mech came hurtling toward him. He was engulfed in this cloud, gaining more burns, and his suit was starting to burn. He didn't know what to do, and right as he had avoided at least 5 large chunks of metal coming to him, another came. He tried to move out of its way, but failed, because he tripped on a chunk of metal buried in the ash. It hit him with full force, and Jay fell. He felt the warm blood stream down his face, and tried to get up, but just sank back down. The last thing he remembered was hearing himself say, "I'm expendable."

Jay woke up in a small room. He couldn't recall how he got there. Come to think of it, all he could remember was fire. Lots of it. And then he remembered his name. Jay Walker. Two people walked in. They were wearing a gray turtleneck, and black sunglasses and pants. One was female, with blonde long hair. The other was male, with spiky brown hair.

"Welcome to the Administration. The Administrator would like to see you. Put this on." The girl said. She tossed him a black shirt with black jeans. He nodded. They left the room. After he finished getting dressed, he walked out. The boy said, "This is Agent Black. She will take you to the Administrator, and let you know why you are here, where and what here is, and how you got here. And any other questions." Then he left.

"Hello, Jay Walker. Oh, I hope it's ok if I just call you Jay." She said.

"Um. Sure." Jay answered.

Great! I'm Elizabeth Black. Please call me Liz or Beth." She removed her sunglasses to reveal blue eyes. "Nice to meet you Jay!"

She held out her hand, and he took it. He felt a warm feeling when they touched.

She's beautiful. Jay thought. And nice. And I think she is amazing.

She guided him, and talked to him about rules, and departments.

He received information on his injuries, and how his arm and leg were broken, and had many burns. But the Administrator had used his elemental power to heal him.

Finally, they arrived at a black door entitled "Administrator".

She opened it, and they both walked in.

There was a person, and it seemed to be a shadowy figure.

"Welcome Jay," he said. He had a deep voice, and had creepy purple eyes. "You may not remember much, and I am here to help you. You are an elemental. The master of lightning. I would like to hire you. And make a deal. We will give you a place to stay, and supply you with anything you need. Including helping you with your injuries, which have been healed, just they will never be as strong."

Moment.

"And in exchange?" Jay said, curious.

The Administrator smiled a wicked smile, and said,

"And in exchange, we ask you to use your element to supply our technology with power."

Jay thought for a moment. This sounded like a good deal.

"Deal."

2 Years later.

Jay had been taking lessons to defend himself in combat, and things were going well. He had mastered his element, and he and Beth had been dating a while. He soon earned the position of manager of the realm reassignment department.

The Administrator notified Jay one day that they had had intruders. They called themselves the Ninja. They were elementals too. He was told if they ever returned and tried to leave with him, he was to agree. He was to earn their trust, and then either turn them to his side, or dispose of him after he got their ultimate power.

He responded, "You can count on me."

This was going to be fun.
