Special Episode: Morning Commute
POV flying through the Desert sector until the camera ducks in a cave under a plateau. There are stalactites on the ceiling dripping down past the various small stone pillars raised from the ground below. Thin paths of rock switch back and forth between the stalactites connecting the platforms. Tower is near the top on a small stone pillar closest to the ceiling. Hornets are zipping in and out from view, disappearing and reappearing between and behind the stalactites.
[cut to William in real life]
William: [dramatic face view] Okay everyone. It's now or never. [wide shot of him in a café] What is everyone having for breakfast?
[He's second from the front in line with the street view outside the window behind him. Speaking on phone.
His profile card is up on Jeremy's screen with an active call.]
Jeremy: What's on the menu?
William: They have café foods. Crapes, Muffins, Croissants, Omelets…
Yumi: I'm starving. I'm fine with anything as long as there's food when we finish this up. [throws a fan that takes out one of the hornets]
Jeremy: Odd, can you be quiet about food for once?
Odd: That wasn't me! [fires lazer arrow destroying a hornet while spinning around and below stalactites and raised rocked pathways on his overboard.]
Jeremy: Oh sorry. Force of habit.
Odd: I'll take an egg McMuffin.
William: It's Café Patachou. They don't have egg McMuffin.
Odd: They have the same thing, different name. The stomach can't tell the difference.
William: [to staff] I'll take an egg biscuit sandwich, 3 hot coffees, hang on, [phone] Jeremy what's the feta cheese omelet's macros?
Jeremy: [confused] You want a macro to look up the omelet's webpage?
William: Oh right. Aelita what are the feta cheese omelet's macros?
[Aelita is charging up two energy fields while staring down at the four Hornets zipping around the tower. She's hovering behind a stalactite with her wings taking cover from the lasers and venom streams.
Aelita: I'm 10 seconds from the tower and 3 grams fat, 1 gram cholesterol, 15 grams protein, and 400 calories.
William: [to staff] … and a Feta cheese omelet [phone] Since we missed our workout session this morning, you good for makeup after your internship later?
Aelita: Uh, sure. I have time before lunch.
[William notices some flicker of movement from the neon sign in front of the café.]
William: Guys I think they found me.
[William exits the café, dropping his skateboard to the pavement and tucking the bag of food in his satchel.]
William: [phone] Next time, someone else gets the food. [kicks off and skates down the street]
Jeremy: [headset] We said first one devirtualized makes the food run. It's not that you don't have to be devirtualized, you just can't be the first one.
[William passes by businesses on the sidewalk. Their signs in the windows start flickering. The neon from the signs phases out and coalesces together forming into the shape of a hound, with vibrant eyes and oversized sparking fangs that takes after William. He notices it and speeds up.]
[Aelita dodges back from a laser only to run into a stalactite, crush her wings and fall to one of the ledges below.]
[Back to William skating downhill. Sharp turn and skips from the main street sidewalk to a staircase that cuts down the hill, grinding on the hand rail for the stairs, people needing to leap out of the way.]
William: This is exactly as reckless and awesome as I thought it would be.
[The hound breaks apart into ribbons of light that chase him through the air before reforming into an animal shape on the ground.]
[Yumi is backflipping along one of the thin paths while dodging lasers. Hornets spray venom on the paths. She slips and falls, barely catching herself on one of the ledges on the side of a pillar.]
Jeremy: Yumi you're down to just 13 Life Points. You can't touch any more of their venom.
Yumi: I don't think they're giving me much choice. [as she pulls herself onto the pillar]
[William is hanging onto the back of a car using it to go faster. Sees neon signs along the street go dark as their light escapes and forms more hounds.
Hounds jump from car to car until they finally catch up. One bites his bag. William grabs the chain holding the door shut, spins it around and smashes the loose end into the hound. It breaks apart, the light scattering, but reforming seconds later. More of the hounds run along side it, then they all break apart and reform into a gigantic hound made of neon light and rainbow colors.]
[Aelita fires energy fields up at stalactites. There's a cloud of dust as they break and fall. Ulrich from down below jumps into Odd's waiting upside down overboard. Odd fires the thrusters. Ulrich super sprint jumps up with the boost, rocketing him up, but knocking Odd flat. Up he flies until he lands on the first falling rock stalactite, jumps and slashes one hornet, lands on the second stalactite, jumps and slashes second hornet before hitting a third spike still attached to the roof, time slows as he readies himself. Then, before gravity catches up, he super sprint jumps, pinballs between the stalactites on the roof cutting the remaining hornets in half, then half again, and then half again.
Ulrich gives a thumbs up at Aelita running into the tower as he falls. Yumi catches him with telekinesis. Ulrich winks at her.]
[The walls of Kadic are finally in view. William lets go of the car as it turns. He spots a truck unloading wooden boards, forming a ramp. He rides off the back of the ramp over the wall into the park. The people unloading look in wonder as he passes over in slow mo with the giant hound on his heels about to swallow him.
William hits the ground on the other side to see the creature just as it slams into him.]
[Aelita in the tower. She touches the screen in front of her.]
Aelita: Tower deactivated.
[The Hound bursts apart into neon ribbons and disperses.]
[William smirks, opens his bag, then takes out the breakfast sandwich. Checks on it. Take a bite.]
William: Victory.
[Cut to Jeremy, Odd, Ulrich, Yumi, and Aelita climbing out of the sewer grate in the Kadic woods. William is there waiting for them.]
William: First bell is in two minutes. Here's chow and coffee for the Mr. and Mrs. Einstein.
Jeremy and Aelita: Thanks.
Ulrich: Hope the genius internship doesn't give you a hard time.
[The couple runs off toward one corner of the woods while the other four take off towards campus.]
William: Ham Croissant for Ulrich, the [rolls his eyes] "Egg McMuffin" for Odd. [Hands them out as they run.
The boys split off from William and Yumi as they dash across the courtyard, holding their breakfast in their mouths.
William and Yumi cross the classroom threshold and land at their desks just as the bell is ringing.]
[Aelita and Jeremy reach the tram just as it's about to take off from the Kadic stop. It's already in motion. Aelita jumps first and pulls Jeremy in. They both collapse onto one of the seats.]
[Cut to Italian class with the bell ringing.]
Mr. Caggia: Well it looks like Della Robbia and Stern won't be joining-
[Odd and Ulrich dive through the window and slide into their seats. They finish eating and swallow so they can speak just as the bell finishes ringing.]
Odd and Ulrich: Present.
[Theo Gauthier, Julien Xao, Clothilde Gilles all raise notebooks they're using as judge signs.]
Theo Gauthier: 8
Julien Xao: 10
Clothilde Gilles: 9.5
Mr. Caggia: Nevermind.
Nickolas: [confused] How did they do that? We're on the second floor.
Yumi: Sorry we made you go get breakfast for us.
William: Huh? What's there to be sorry for?
Yumi: I just don't want you to feel like the team's intern. Or you're being punished.
William: [scoffs] Oh. No, It didn't feel like that at all. It felt like being part of the team. Isn't that how it usually is for Lyoko Warriors? One team on Lyoko, one team in the real world doing what needs to be done.
Yumi: Huh, guess it is.
Mrs. Kensington: We'll continue our literary analysis of the 1986 American film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" where-
