Chapter 27: End of Year 4
I woke up feeling groggy. Since my suicide attempt, my family has been keeping a close eye on me. They would make sure I did not get my hands on any pills. They would always hand me my medicine when it was time to take them. They would make sure I would not get my hands on any sharp objects and they even took away my wand and web shooters because they were afraid that I would try to kill myself with the killing curse or make a noose with my web shooters.
"But Mom! I need my wand and web shooters!" I yelled when Hermione and Gwen locked them up in a safe.
"You don't need your wand right now, sweetie. I will give it back to you when we need it. I will give it back to you for class too." Hermione said.
"But what if I want to go for a swing too?" I asked.
"Then you will go swinging with me and your father," Gwen said firmly.
"This isn't fair," I whined. I crossed my arms over my chest to tell them I was upset. I know they were doing all of this to protect me but it still felt suffocating. My spider senses went off when Scar and Miguel walked into the room. My senses do not fully trust them yet, and neither do I. It will take me some time but I am willing to give them a chance. They haven't hurt me since they apologized, but still.
"How are you doing, Nene'," Miguel said when he took a seat next to me. I kind of flinched when he touched my hand but I allowed him to take it.
"I am doing okay. I want to go home." I said.
"I know, Nene'. But you need to get better." Miguel said. Nala growled when Scar went to lay down next to me.
"It's okay Nala. He won't hurt me," I said. Nala still won't trust Scar or Miguel either. Nala calmed down a bit at my reassurance. I don't know why but I started to cry. All of this was too much for me. I just want to go home. Margo walked over to me and placed her hands on my shoulders to comfort me.
"It's okay honey. I'm here." Margo said.
"We all are," Nala said. I closed my eyes and fell asleep. When I woke up a few hours later, I heard people yelling. I was confused. What is happening?
"What is going on?" I asked.
"I don't know. Stay here." Scar said. Scar and the others went outside to see what all the noises were. Then, the person I feared most burst into the room. Aunt Katie.
"No! Get her out!" I shriek.
"Stay away from her!" Evelyne yelled, stepping in front of me. My heart stopped when Aunt Katie pulled out a gun. Since when did she have a gun?!
"Step aside. Or I will shoot." Aunt Katie threatened. Evelyne did as she was told and stepped aside. I got scared when Aunt Katie walked over to me. I gulped because I knew just how dangerous she could be. She is even more dangerous than Scar and Miguel when they were abusive.
"W-What do you want from me?" I stuttered nervously. I yelped when she slapped me hard across the face.
"You do not get to speak to me like that!" Aunt Katie yelled. My spider senses went off again when she pointed the gun at me. "How dare you do something as reckless as that?!"
"Don't hurt her!" Sarabi yelled.
Aunt Katie pressed the gun harder on my temple. Her fingers tightened dangerously around my chin. "Back away or I will kill her. I swear to God I will!" Aunt Katie warned. Listening to her, everyone stepped away. Aunt Katie focused her attention back to me.
"Listen to me you little brat. If you dare try to do something reckless like that again or try to escape then believe me when I say this. I will kill you. Do not test me." Aunt Katie said dangerously. I nodded, not knowing what else to say. She has never threatened to kill me before. I knew she was dangerous but I had never seen this side of her before. When she left, I took a few minutes to catch my breath.
"Are you okay?" Miles asked me.
"Yeah. I think so." I said.
"We won't let her hurt you," Amelia said. Becky, my older sister walked into the room. Becky looked concerned when she saw me shaken up.
"Lana? What happened honey?" Becky asked me.
"Aunt Katie attacked her. She held her at gunpoint." Evelyne explained. Hearing those words, Becky rushed over to me.
"Are you okay?! Did she hurt you!?" Becky shouted. Becky inspected my body for wounds.
"I'm okay. She didn't harm me. She just threatened me." I said.
"Okay, good. You listen to me. You don't go anywhere near that woman, you hear?" Becky said firmly. I nodded. Becky, being the overprotective sister she is, will do anything in her power to protect me. Since we were raised by our abusive aunt, Becky has been overprotective of me. After a few minutes, a couple of doctors and my grandmother, Rio walked inside the room. Rio is a nurse too so she has been taking care of me since I have been in the hospital.
"Good news Lana. You can go home today!" Rio said happily.
"I can?" I said, my eyes widened with excitement.
"Yes. We just need to run a few tests on you before you can go home." One of the doctors said.
"You also have a visitor," Rio said. The door opened, and Harry walked in with... Snowy! My excitement grew when I saw her. It has been so long since I have seen my owl.
"Snowy!" I cried happily. Snowy flew from Harry's arm and landed on my lap. I smiled as I stroked her soft feathers.
"I thought you would like to see her," Harry said.
"Thanks, Dad," I said. I played with Snowy while the doctors and Rio ran some tests on me. After a couple of hours, I was good to go home. My family helped me pack my stuff and change into different clothes. They helped me into a wheelchair since I was weak still and couldn't walk very well. Ron and Hermione pushed my wheelchair.
"Are you doing okay, Lana?" Ron asked me for the 100th time today. Ron has been very worried about me after my suicide attempt and would always check on me.
"I'm fine Dad," I said, a little impatient.
"Okay. Just checking." Ron said.
"Let's go home, yeah?" Harry said.
"I would like that very much," I said. I stroked Snowy's feathers as I was wheeled out of the hospital. When we got home, something unexpected happened to me. The Great Hall in the Hogwarts Castle was decorated with streamers and confetti. There was a big banner on the wall that said
WELCOME HOME LANA!
Food covered every inch of each table. A big movie projector screen hung in the middle of the wall.
"We all made this party for you, Lana. You earned it." Professor Dumbledore said.
"Thank you, Professor," I said. Professor Dumbledore smiled at me and then returned to the teacher's table. The party was amazing. We had food, we talked, we played games and watched movies. Of course, I got to pick the movie since I was the star. The movie I picked to watch was The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Avengers: Infinity War.
When the party was over, everyone went back to their dorms. I laid down with Miguel, Scar, Margo, Nala, and Evelyne. I held onto them tightly, not wanting to let go.
I am glad to finally be home.
Today is the day we get to go back home today. I was sad about it because I did not want to leave Hogwarts. I loved it here. I made so many good memories and friends. I packed my bags. When I finished packing my bags, I checked to make sure I had everything. Everything that belonged to me was packed away. I gasped when Kovu, Scar, Miguel, and Aunt Sarafina walked in the room.
"Hey, Lana. Need any help packing?" Kovu asked.
"No. I'm good. Thank you." I said.
Miguel kissed the top of my forehead. "I realized I forgot something, sweetheart," Miguel said.
"Oh yeah? What's that?" I asked. Miguel lifted up my arms. To my surprise, he unlocked the bands from my wrists. The bands fell to the floor. Miguel moved to my neck and unlocked the collar around my neck. I watched as the collar fell to the floor. Tears formed in my eyes.
"Are you..." I stuttered.
"Yes. We're releasing you from the collars." Miguel said.
"It was wrong to control you with those. We're sorry." Scar said. I began to cry. Scar, Miguel, Kovu, and Aunt Sarafina held me close as this was an emotional moment for me. After a few minutes, Miguel called out to Miles.
"Miles!" Miguel said. Miles walked up to him nervously.
"Yeah, Miguel?" Miles stuttered. Miguel said nothing. He removed the bands and the collar from Miles' wrists and neck. Miles started crying too. Miguel hugged him.
"Thank you, Miguel," Miles said.
"I love you, Miles," Miguel said.
"I- I love you too Miguel," Miles said. Miles and Miguel wrapped their arms around each other and kissed.
"And I love you, Lana," Scar said.
"I love you too, Scar," I said. Scar and I kissed. After our emotional moments, I stood up.
"I am going to go talk to Harry," I said.
"Okay, sweetie. You go do that." Aunt Sarafina said.
I nodded. "Thank you all," I said. I left my room to go see Harry in the boy's dormitory. I was allowed there since Harry and Ron are my dad's. When I walked in the dormitory, I saw Professor Dumbledore talking with Harry. Professor Dumbledore chuckled as he looked at the bed curtains.
"I never liked these curtains. Set them on fire in my fourth year." Professor Dumbledore said. "By accident, of course."
I walked over to Harry as Professor Dumbledore sat down in front of us. "I put you and your daughter in terrible danger this year, Harry. It's my fault that she got kidnapped. I'm sorry." Professor Dumbledore said.
"It's okay, Professor. You couldn't help it." I said.
"Professor... When I was in the graveyard, there was a moment, um... when... Voldemort's wand and mine sort of connected." Harry said.
"Priori Incantatem." Professor Dumbledore said. "You saw you're parents that night, didn't you? They reappeared."
Harry smiled and nodded.
"No spell can reawaken the dead, Harry. I trust you know that. Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy. But remember this: You have friends here. You have your daughter. You're not alone." Professor Dumbledore said. Professor Dumbledore brushed his hand along Harry's cheek. He patted my shoulder with my hand.
"I'm glad things are working out with you and your husbands now. There is something I need to talk to you about too." Professor Dumbledore said.
"Yeah?" I said.
"You will be staying with Harry during the summer." Professor Dumbledore said. Mine and Harry's eyes widened. No, I didn't want to go. I heard stories about his aunt and uncle.
"No! I don't want to!" I shouted.
"I won't let her stay at my place. They are abusive. I don't want her getting hurt. I want her to go to Ron's." Harry said angrily. I nodded in agreement. My original plan was to stay at Ron's place before Professor Dumbledore dropped the bombshell on me. Harry took a deep breath, then spoke up. "You do realize Lana was drivin to suicide because of abuse, right?"
"Yes, Harry. I am aware. But this is the best way to protect her from the dangers of the wizarding world. I want her to stay in the muggle world during the summer. I do not want to risk anything. This is the best way to protect her from Voldemort when she is away from Hogwarts." Professor Dumbledore said.
Harry and I looked at each other, then looked back at Professor Dumbledore. Professor Dumbledore put his hands on my shoulders. "I am not doing this to hurt you, Lana. I am doing it to protect you." Professor Dumbledore said. Professor Dumbledore patted me on the shoulder again before leaving. I had tears streaming down my face. Harry pulled me into a hug.
"Don't worry, sweetie. I won't let them hurt you." Harry said.
"Thanks, Dad. I love you." I said.
"I love you too," Harry said.
Later that day, it was time to go home. I had all of my stuff packed and ready to go. Everyone was gathered in the courtyard, saying goodbye to one another. I was sad to say goodbye to the other schools that visited too because I enjoyed having them here.
"Hermione," Krum said. Krum walked with her to the side. Krum handed her a piece of paper. "This is for you. Write to me. Promise."
Krum waved to her as he took off. "Bye."
The girls from Madam Maxine's school kissed Ron. "Ar Ivore Ron."
I held onto Harry's hand tightly as we walked around the school's courtyard. I watched the ship getting ready to take off from the distance. I heard the canon fire in the distance. Everyone cheered. We bid farewell to both schools as they walked down the aisle. I guess I better say goodbye to my family before the train leaves. I hugged my family goodbye.
They were not thrilled that I had to go live with the Dursleys but I told them Dumbledore was doing it to protect me from the dangers of this world while I was away from Hogwarts after what happened with the Triwizard Tournament and Voldemort.
"Are you going to be okay?" Nala asked me worriedly.
"Yeah. I think so." I said.
Margo cupped my face and kissed me on the cheek. "Call and text us, okay?" Margo said.
"I will," I said.
"We will be waiting for you at Hogwarts, baby," Evelyne said. I nodded.
"Have a good summer," Gwen said.
"We wish you the best," Uru said.
"Good luck," Ahadi said.
"We love you," Miles said.
"I love you guys too. Bye, everyone!" I said. When I finished saying my goodbyes, I went over to my parents, Harry, Ron, and Hermione. We gathered around a quieter place in the courtyard. Ron laughed.
"Do you think we'll ever just have a quieter year at Hogwarts?" Ron said.
"No." Hermione and Harry said.
"After this. Definitely not." I said.
"I agree with Lana. I don't think so." Harry said.
"Oh well. What's life without a few dragons?" Ron said. I smiled. I held onto Harry's and Ron's hands as we begin to walk away.
"Everything's going to change now, isn't it?" Hermione said. Harry walked over to Hermione and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Yes," Harry said.
Hermione nodded. "Promise you'll write this summer. Both of you." Hermione said.
"Well, I won't. You know I won't." Ron said. Hermione sighed, then turned to us.
"Harry and Lana will. Won't you guys?" Hermione said.
"Yeah. Every week." Harry said.
"Same," I said. We all chuckled.
We stood at the balcony and watched as the Pegasus Soard in the sky and the ship plunging into the sea. I took a deep breath, savoring this moment with my parents. I was nervous because I did not know what was going to happen during the summer and the fifth year. But I know in the end everything is going to be okay.
