Chapter 25: Flowery Fillers

A castle in the Moon. Her domain, protected and sheltered. Yet, the size so... upsetting. It is so large and so domineering, and yet it lack warmth. A thought for later, but the sole lady of the Moon wandered the halls she created, wondering as her citizens flourished in the capital, how she was to be as a Queen above others.
She was born as a representation, yes, but a leader? And from people that worshiped her as a deity? There was just something so displeasing over that matter. How was she to be Goddess, if she was just a role model to follow and not to bow to?
A long sigh left her pristine lips as she kept on wandering. Eventually she left the silvery cage she made for herself, her supposed home still devoid of the things meant to make a house proper. Yet, the woman continued undeterred into the wastes of her 'kingdom'.
There was so much space available to fill, but it was so desolate and it was going to take so long for her subjects to inhabit. In that case, the 'queen' sighed as she looked at Earth. The planet was bigger but it bore no proper representation due to its unique formation.
An anomaly, and one led by people that bickered and struggled to unify.
Despite her perplexed thought, the Lady of the Moon paused as something caught her eye in the distance. Specks of black and white, colors which shades stood out from the common scenery.
She approached, curious if not intrigued. At destination, the Queen crouched over what appeared to be bubbles containing these two little beings. Both felines, both young, both... helpless. Her gray eyes studied the two entities, recognizing that they were alone here. Why?
She doubted she could get questions due to their short lives, but she was nonetheless interested to get them close to her. As she broke the bubbles, the felines floated in her waiting arms, with both still slumbering for a few more seconds before they slowly perked up at her warm embrace.
The first one to wake up was the black-furred one, the female, and the Lady was met with a pair of inquisitive and yet loving pink eyes. The other one, the male, followed shortly after and his eyes bore a hint of sleepiness and childish wonder.
They didn't speak, they let out tiny meows that warmed her chest some more. Orphans? It was possible, and yet the Queen pondered on what to do. To let someone of her ilk to take them in or... claim them as her wards?
Studying the matter, the Lady was blessed with loving purring from both. The youthful want of affection reciprocated by the tired and lonely mind of a Queen that had to ditch her original purpose and lost her Sword in the process.
She decided.
"Artemis and Luna, you two shall be my wards and, hopefully so, the advisors of the one that will follow me."
The cats merely meowed at her, uncaring of anything around them but the kind woman that took them back to the massive castle in the horizon.
I had been made aware that I had a shard or 'a fraction' of Queen Serenity's soul and memories for a while now. But this dream was both amusing and concerning due to a few reasons.
Amusing since it answered a tiny bit about Luna and Artemis' backstory, but also worrisome since these dreams either followed or preceded something monumental. Considering that these few days had been devoid of trouble, I would say I had to brace for something big happening today.
Then again, things have been extremely quiet and... I had been perhaps too hopeful that Metalia was going to die via starvation rather than do something before kicking the bucket. Considering my luck, however, I had not dropped training for a second. If not for Metalia, then for the next season's chores.

I had not been slacking off, and with the dream pretty much telling me that we were going to have imminent trouble, I kept myself vigilant and ready to intervene. I went to school as usual, studied with my friends and, as expected, I was greeted by a displeasing sight.
I had half-expected the Generals to be the ones I would have to worry the most about, but when I turned the corner to see a certain Chiba Mamoru being put against the wall by a handsome blond guy, I almost recognized what was up, but the Game helped in pretty much giving me confirmation of my suspicions.

Metalia is using fillers now? REALLY!?
I remember this guy as Mamoru's own 'same-sex tempter' in Season 1 to 2 filler which involved some deadly plant trying to get some power juice out of Earth. It was clear that the creator of Sailor Moon liked Dragon Ball's movie about Turles that she made this happen two times!
Despite the grimace appearing on my face at the idea that filler movies were now part of this big world, I mustered my Moon Knight form and rushed to rescue Mamo-boy from his childhood friend. After all, it wouldn't do well for Chibi Usa's chances of being born if Fiore got her daddy pegged up and happy with Flower Dick.
Fiore realized I was approaching, and, without hesitation, pushed himself away from Mamoru to dodge a few Moon Cutters I hurled at him.
"Fiore-" Mamoru spoke, but the alien switched back to his original form and snarled.
"So, you are the one that is between us and the survival of my species? A Knight from the Moon?"
"What?" I asked, "I have nothing against your folks' surviving. I am, however, a firm believe of 'consent'."
He snorted. "This isn't something you can understand, you brat."
Vines soon blasted out of the floor, trying to take hold of me but... I mustered my Moon Sword and I rushed towards Fiore, the guy may have a lot of HP, but I could tell he was a long-ranged wimp that couldn't handle a sword.
"Impressive, you are fast and ferocious," Fiore remarked, almost praising me. "A shame that such a gallant knight is nothing more but a fool against our Queen."
This was pretty much confirmation of what I had been worried about, which meant I could spare the guy at all as I continued to rush through the plants. Cutting through the hurdling veggies, I eventually got close enough to the guy to start cleaving. And then things got weirdly bad when something shifted under his clothes.
Roots suddenly sprouted from Fiore's sleeves, successfully encasing the sword but failing to get hold of me as I let go of the weapon and backed away fast. I planned to de-summon and re-summon the sword but... I realized I couldn't.
Instead, I was greeted by the sight of the roots suddenly leeching energy out of the Moon Sword and... cracking it. My jaw hit the floor as the Game notified to me the worst news possible.
[Warning! Fake Moon Sword has been destroyed!]
"This power, the power of the MO-" Before he could finish the sentence, Fiore tensed up and coughed green blood.

He had taken... damage? Not just normal damage, but permanent one at that.
"I-It rejected my body? This- this is absurd, we- we deserve this power," He growled, then glaring at Mamoru and then back at me. "Alas, it doesn't matter. I will win, both for our cause and the one of our Queen. So long, Knight of the Moon!"
Before I could intercept him, he just vanished and I... recoiled at the fact I had lost my sword like that. I held back from pondering too deeply on its ramifications just yet as I approached Mamoru and checked on him.
"Are you alright?"
"Y-Yes. He... he is not a bad person."
"But he is controlled by Metalia," I guessed and he nodded. "I suggest you look more after yourself, Chiba. You're not devoid of your own personal troubles."
The man nodded and smiled. "Thank you for the assistance, Moon Knight."
I nodded back, ignoring the overly-friendly look he was giving me. The last thing I needed was for me to become the magnet for all sorts of pairings all pulled to me. Boy Love was a kink, just not mine.
Nonetheless, I was soon bolting away from the scene, swinging around the buildings before making it back home and, after greeting my parents and noticing that Usagi wasn't back yet, take a sudden nap as I felt suddenly tired and-
And something felt unpleasant.
"Why? Why can't I hold you anymore?"
The Queen's woes went unanswered as she tried to take hold of the sword she once could easily hold and use in battle. The sword which, by all means, was an extention of her. It was a frustrating discovery, but also one that came from an odd occurrence.
The sword was previously left to rest by her room. A symbol of power, but also a memento to use in case of need to defend the Moon Kingdom she spent so long to create and reinforce. But... then something changed when the Queen allowed for a Princess to be born.
Guards had notified her that the blade had been found in the middle of the Royal Courtyard, stabbed in the floor and... unable to be pulled up by the Queen herself. The woman tried and tried, but the sword refused to budge. It got so bad that the Lady's own strength almost caused an earthquake due to the constant trying.
Ultimately, the Queen gave up but, right as she was about to leave, her eyes spotted words engraved on the blade's handle. Those weren't there before that moment, and the curious development stole her attention.
'Only those committed to be Brave Heroes of Justice and Order can hold me. As your resolve as a warrior falters, so does this Sword allegiance to you.'
The words stung within her heart. She had been warned in the past that she couldn't keep all that power to herself. Eventually she would have to choose between being a fighter or a Queen and... she had fallen in love with the duties of ruling over happy people that she loved to the dearest.
Even more now she was also a mother, and that was another responsibility that made the sword less willing to keep by her side.
Despite this and knowing that a Warrior was needed, the Queen knew there was one way to solve this.
Her Princess would have had a cast of heroes to serve and help her when the duty of protector would come to their attention.
But as that memory faltered, I found myself standing right in the very spot where Queen Serenity had made that decision. And instead of finding the original version of the sword that just broke due to Fiore, I saw a sword-shaped yellow light stabbed on the ground and with glowing blue words engraved on its hilt.
'I am waiting for you to know your duty. I know you, you know me. I am always with you, but always lacking when needed. All you need to do is accept the real burden and I will be by your side.'
...What was that supposed to mean?
Before I could question the riddle, I just found myself blinded by an explosion of light created by the sword and... woke up in bed. And I wasn't alone.
Sobbing and whining, a certain Baka-nee was currently cuddling me in my slumber.
"Usa...gi?"
"Ah, Shingo!" The blonde jumped in surprise and then... bawled even harder. "I neeeed you!"
She was cuddling quite aggressively at that.
"What now?"
"W-We had a new classmate and she is suuuper mean with me, bwahaaaa!"
...
"Really?"
"Yeah! Her name is Natsumi and she is a mean jerk. Now, console your big sister!"
I patted her head and she seemed pleased with that. But my brain quickly felt familiarized with that name when it came to Sailor Moon.
...
Wait, aren't those the other flower guys that tried to pull a Turles on the show with their 'Life Tree'? And they are here... at the same time as Fiore?!
How many fillers did Metalia just pull out of her solar ass?!
