"Has your brother started teaching you the Fireball Jutsu yet?" Tsubaki glanced up to find Uchiha Arisa leaning over on the desk that she was at.
"No. I haven't asked him about it yet."
"The celebration is soon, you know." Arisa said drawled.
"I know. He's still in mourning over his friend. I don't want to push him." Tsubaki replied, getting a little defensive at her clan member.
"Tsuba-san, everyone is losing important people in this war." She said straightening up.
"Arisa-chan, shut your hole up!" A gruff voice called out from behind. Turning to the tall boy, Tsubaki sent him a smile which was returned and only those that knew the boy well could tell as he wore a mask that covered the lower portion of his face. "You don't get a say in how long people mourn as you have yet to know how it feels to lose someone dear."
"It's okay Kijuro-chan." Tsubaki said standing up while gathering her papers to do later at home. "Are you coming over for dinner tonight? Kaa-chan said Sakumo-kun is invited as well."
Kijuro rolled his gray eyes. "Mah, mah, Tsuba-chan, fine I'll let him know to be there."
Her smile grew as she zipped over to give the taller boy a side hug ignoring the disgruntled look Arisa was giving them before turning to leave herself. "Great! Kaa-chan will be so happy. Maybe Sakumo-kun can kick Daisuke in the butt."
"Ha, ha, you're funny Tsuba-chan. You do remember he is still an Academy student while your brother is a Jonin."
Tsubaki held up a finger to bop the boy on the tip of his clothed nose. "And he is set to become Clan-head soon!" With one last squeezing hug Tsubaki let go as they walked to the exit. "I'll see you later, cousin." He sent her a lazy wave.
Letting out her field that had been kept tightly to her, Tsubaki found several shinobis that had been trying to silence their signature and pinged them. It had been something tou-chan would do to help the newer Anbu recruits learn how to stifle their chakra to a point that it would be harder for a sensor to feel them out. Since he was out fighting in the war, Tsubaki made it her duty to help her future comrades with that training. She may have also learned what tou-chan taught to the Anbu of the signals used between them in silence. Not that he didn't find out about it later, having been told about her subtle pings to several older Anbu officers that she knew of the secret language.
"Kaa-chan!" she announced as she switched into her slippers. "Sakumo-kun and Kijuro-chan are coming over tonight."
A small laugh was heard the closer Tsubaki came to the kitchen. "Hello pup." Eriko turned to her daughter with a smirk that showed a little of her longer canines. Being half Hatake allowed Eriko to retain some of those clan features along with a nose that could smell better than most but not as good as that of Inuzuka or Hatake. "How was the Academy today?"
"Good, Osamu-sensie showed us different falling techniques." Tsubaki rattled off as she sat at the table in the other room to finish what work she still had. "Then he had us work on moving targets with kunai and shuriken. He says he'll be bringing senbon later in the week to show us ways to fling them. I sparred with Aburame Senichi and it came out to a draw. He has gotten better at hand to hand since the start of the year."
Eriko smiled as she sat next to Tsubaki. With a quick sip Eriko glanced over to the figure that stood off a bit. In the last few weeks he was making his way back from the loss of Eizan to which Eriko was glad for. With a raised brow at her son and a small tilt of her head towards Tsubaki he understood what she was silently telling him. Today seemed to be one of her sons' better days that she hoped would grow more often in the coming days as he had a duty to his sister that Eriko couldn't do.
Tsubaki looked up to her brother with a small smile. "Aniki!" Quickly getting up she rammed into Daisuke and hugged his hips tightly as she bounced tiny hops. "Can we go see Mito-baa-chan this weekend?" Daisuke laid a hand to fuffle her dark locks furthering the wild look they already had. "Actually, I was planning on teaching you the Fireball Jutsu." That had Tsubaki freeze as her eyes widened slowly. "Really?" she asked in a whisper.
A meniscal smile lifted the corners of his lips. "Really, Tsuba-chan."
Letting go of Daisuke she twisted to face their mother. "You hear that?! I'm going to learn the Fireball Jutsu! I'm going to be of age in the clan soon!" A gasp left her in a groaning way. "I gotta tell tou-chan, but he's not here!"
Daisuke snorted, having given up on his sister's impossible way. "You could always just wait until he returns and show him."
"Tsubaki, dear, Tobirama is not your tou-chan." Eriko said once again, just as many times as her dear friend has told her daughter. Yet, it never seemed to be drilled into the child's stubborn head.
Tsubaki simply smiled larger. "I know. I can't wait for tou-chan to return to the village." Taking her brother's hand she pulled him to the front door. "Come on! I wanna learn this fast and improve as much as I can to surprise tou-chan!"
In the falling two weeks Daisuke and Tsubaki met at the dock. Even with her having training over control of her chakra doing an elemental jutsu for the first time needed a little help. The first few fireballs Daisuke did allowed her to learn how he molded the chakra into the fire element many Uchiha held. Then came the hand signs and how to breathe deeply in order to make the fire blow out. Once Daisuke felt she was ready to try it for her first go he allowed her to watch him one more time.
"Now, focus on my chakra. Then watch everything I do. This is the last time I will show you how it is done. Until you have worked out the jutsu you will gain burns, that is just the way of learning." Daisuke informed her seeing her eyes peirce into his own. With a smile of pride he did the jutsu at a slower rate. Pulling arms back with a deep intake of breath before leaning forward to spew out the flames over the water. The orange and yellow colors of his flames caused the water to steam a little. Cutting off the flow he glanced at Tsubaki who held a focused look over the water and took a step back with a hand out to tell her to try her first go.
Taking a ready stance, Tsubaki was so intently focused on molding her chakra that she was unaware of two figures making their way to the docks the Uchiha siblings were at. With each hand sign done Tsubaki worked her chakra into the element needed before settling the churning and burning feeling chakra around her lungs just as Daisuke had done. With a deep breath, as much as she could while still only a child, and blew out.
Daisuke felt his mouth gap open at the shades of dark to light blues flickering out from his sister. The heat that was expelled by them caused the water to boil faster into steam than his fireball had done. Abruptly the flames cut out as Tsubaki stood with a grin as she huffed and panted for air from keeping the flames going. Turning to Daisuke, who had yet to break the shock, and jumped into his side. That seemed to break the pause that held him as he bent down to scoop her up into his arms.
"Look at YOU! Blue flames! Hah and for your first try!" Daisuke shouted as he spun them around. "I'm so proud of you! No one's ever had colored flames!"
"It is unique that only Tsubaki could be." The voice had both Uchiha siblings pause before Tsubaki was wiggling out of Daisuke's arms to ram into Tobirama. Eriko who stood next to Tobirama lifted a hand to hide her giggles while he was forced to take hold of the girl to hopefully stop the bounce she was doing.
"Did you see!? Did you see me create a fireball!?" she shouted jumping up and down even as Tobirama tried to hold her down by the shoulders. With a quick turn she ran back to the edge, hands already working through the needed signs. Again blue flames flickered to life before them only this time a little bit bigger in size.
Eriko hummed happily at the gleeful expression of her daughter. "You know, if she truly does master fire the way you have, Tobirama, she'll be a force with those blue flames."
Crossing his arms he grunted. "I should have expected that of Tsubaki. Of the Uchiha's I have fought against and with, in my years, she has the hottest blazing chakra I have ever felt from the clan. Not even Madara had such a fierce burning chakra as she does. It is volatile but bright. Something she may grow into in the years to come."
Eriko hummed watching as both her children let out a fireball each. "She is already a bright spot within the clan and that of my sister clans. That volatile nature may only come out when threatened." Her eyes moved to take in the man that stood near her. "Family and love is deeply rooted in who the Uchiha are. Even having married and been living within this clan, I still have much to learn of the pride that is the Uchiha."
"Tou-chan can we go out for dango!?" Tsubaki shouted as she ran back to them with Daisuke trailing behind her. Tobirama watched the girl wiggle in anticipation of his answer. Eriko lightly tapped him on the shoulder after taking too long. "Yes, you've earned it." Tsubaki jumped up with a twirl to Daisuke to pull him along with her. "YES! DANGO! LET'S GOO!"
