Chapter 74
Pokémon League part 2 James vs Cross
At the Pokémon league hotel, Lincoln and group was calling home. the screen turns on with everyone appearing in the garage.
"Hey bro, we saw yours and Ronnie Anne's battles," Luna said."
"Yeah, who would've thought you would win the first round with one Pokémon," Lynn said."
"Thanks guys," Lincoln said."
"But that guy was cute," Lola said making Winston jealous."
"Don't start Lola, remember how you guys acted around Hugh?" Lincoln asked."
"Yeah, like how you guys chased him when he left?" Bobby asked."
The sisters and Lynn sr. minus Lily blushed in embarrassment.
"Well, that trainer Ronnie Anne faced looked cute," Rusty said."
"What was that?" Polly asked."
"Nothing," Rusty replied."
"I thought so," Polly said."
"So, who will you face next Lincoln?" Lana asked."
"No idea," Lincoln replied." but we'll be ready."
"Just don't get too cocky kiddo," Albert said."
"He's right sweety, never underestimate your opponents," Myrtle said."
"We won't," Lincoln said."
"we've trained our Pokémon enough to have them evolve," Ronnie Anne said."
"Really?!" Carl asked."
"That's so cool," CJ said."
"We'll we're going to train a bit then get some sleep," Lincoln said." and we'll see the next battle since we have a day off, so we'll know who we'll be facing."
"Good idea, we'll do the same and give you guys a heads up," Lisa said."
"Ok, and Dad, I know you really talked to Aunt Sharon about Logan instead of Uncle Lance because of your few'd with him," Lincoln said."
Lynn sr. tugged on his shirt.
"Ok, yes, but she checked and found nothing," Lynn sr. said."
"It's ok, we'll find out soon," Lincoln said." I hope."
The video phone turns off. Lincoln and the others go get their Pokémon checked by nurse joy. They get some food from the cafeteria, and they see Jessie, James, and Meowth.
"Hey guys," Lincoln said."
"Hey link," Meowth said."
"We heard what happened with your battle with Giovanni," Jessie said."
"Who would've thought that you two made Giovanni disband team rocket," James said."
"It felt more like I freed him from the shackles his mother put on him," Lincoln said." by the way, have you guys heard of a guy named Logan loud?"
"Not really why?" James asked."
"Because Giovanni gave me this note saying beware of Logan loud," Lincoln replied."
"Sorry, we don't know him," Meowth said."
"OK, by the way, I heard you're entering round 2 James," Lincoln said."
"So, who are you facing?" Clyde asked."
"A guy named Cross," James replied."
The others were surprised, especially Lincoln.
"James, listen, don't underestimate him," Lincoln said."
"Why?" James asked."
"Let's just say, I had experienced facing Cross," Lincoln replied feeling his chest."
The next day, Lincoln and the others are sitting in the audience seats with Jessie and Meowth. James and Cross appear on the battlefield. At the loud house everyone sees Cross while the louds look angry.
"Guys what's wrong?" Sam asked."
"That guy with the red hair, he hurt our bro," Luna replied."
Their friends looked shocked.
"What?!" Albert yelled."
"Yeah, he used his Pokémon to hurt firestorm while he's down," Lana said."
"But linky used himself as a shield which his chest got burnt," Lola said."
"Along with firestorm losing his confidence," Lynn said."
"He also trapped firestorm's original trainer in a cave," Leni said."
Everyone was shocked.
"I can't believe there are trainers like that!" Sully said."
"That guy shouldn't be a trainer," Benny said."
"Yeah," Jackie said."
Back at the stadium,
Cross sends out Lycanroc.
"Catania let's go!" James said."
He sends a catus like Pokémon, it then turns to James and hugs him while in pain.
"Now's not the time for hugs," James said."
In the audience,
"Wow, that must've hurt," Bobby said."
"Yeah," Clyde said."
Back at the loud house,
"That Pokémon loves hugs," Kotaro said."
"Maybe the kids shouldn't catch that kind of Pokémon," Myrtle said."
"Let's hope," Hector said."
Back at the battlefield,
Catania is back on the battlefield.
"Catania use pin missile!" James said."
Catania fires its pin missiles at Lycanroc.
"Counter," Cross said."
Lycanroc dodges with counter and punches Catania to the ground leaving it knocked out. James looked shocked.
"Catania is unable to battle, Lycanroc is the winner," the referee said."
In the audience,
"Just one hit, how strong is this guy?" Ronnie Anne asked."
"No idea," Jessie replied."
Back at the loud house,
"Just one hit!" Liam said."
"This guy really is good," Rusty said."
Back at the stadium,
"Victreebe, go!" James said."
A plant like Pokémon appeared and bit James' head.
"Not you too," James said."
In the audience,
"Maybe he should stay away from grass types," Clyde said."
"I agree," Lincoln said."
Back at the loud house,
"I like that plant," Boris said."
"Let's hope if Clyde catches a Pokémon like that, he teaches it not to bite us," Howard said."
"I agree," Harold said."
Back at the stadium,
"Victreebel, use razor leaf!" James said."
Victreebel fires its razor leaf at Lycanroc. the attack hits but it didn't do much damage.
"What?!" James said."
"You really thought that would work?" Cross asked." Use Stone edge!"
Lycanroc punches the ground and stones grew out of the ground and hit Victreebel and sends it in the air.
"Crunch!" Cross said."
Lycanroc jumps into the air and uses crunch on Victreebel. Victreebel falls to the ground knocked out.
"Victreebel is unable to battle, Lycanroc wins," the referee said."
Back at the loud house,
"Just how strong is this guy?" Sully asked.
"No idea," Mazzy replied."
Back at the stadium,
"Growlie go!" James said."
He sends out Arcanine.
In the audience,
"At least this one isn't biting his head," Lincoln said."
"Yup," Ronnie Anne said."
At the stadium,
Cross recalls Lycanroc and sends out Incineroar.
"Growlie, use flame charge!" James said."
Arcanine charges at Incineroar, the attack lands making James believe it worked. to his shock, Incineroar caught Arcanine.
"Do it," Cross said."
Incineroar lifts Arcanine up and slams it in Incineroars knee leaving James shocked. Incineroar uses fire punch on the side where Incineroar slammed sending it towards James. Incineroar jumps up and uses cross chop on the same side Arcanine was slammed in. the attack caused great pain to Arcanine making it scream.
"Growlie!" James yelled."
He runs towards his Pokémon and holds it.
"I give up, I don't want my partner in anymore pain," James said."
"James forfeits the battle, Cross is the winner," the referee said."
(recalling Incineroar)" Like I said, weak trainers are trash," Cross said as he walks away."
In the audience Lincoln was clenching his fist and grinding his teeth.
Back at the loud house,
Everyone was shocked on what they saw.
"What is wrong with that guy?" Benny asked."
"Yeah, the way he battles is cruel," Luan said."
"I bet he does this to every trainer that faces him," Lori said."
"I also hate his comment," Lynn said."
"Me too, but I'm more worried about Lincoln and Ronnie Anne," Paula said."
"Yeah, they'll probably face him," Stella said."
Everyone felt nervous after what Stella said."
"I know one of them will beat him," myrtle said."
Back at the league,
After Lincoln and Ronnie Anne got through their rounds, they along with Bobby and Clyde went to see James at the Pokémon center.
"James, how's Growlie?" Lincoln asked."
"Still being checked on by nurse joy," James replied."
Nurse joy comes out of the operating room.
"Nurse joy, how is Growlie?" James said."
"Good news, Growlie will be ok, the bad news, he won't be able to battle again," Nurse joy replied." If Growlie had one more hit, he would've died."
Everyone was shocked. James enters the room, sits down and pets Growlie as he rests.
"Lincoln, Ronnie Anne, if either of you two face Cross defeat him for us," James said."
(Placing his hand on James' shoulder)" we will," Lincoln said."
Growlie wakes up weakly and whimpers.
"It's ok Growlie, its ok," James said hugging Growlie as tears fall from his face.
That's chapter 74, next chapter, Ronnie Anne vs Leaf.
The reason I chose Growlie and evolved is because I wanted James to use him. but after this should James continue his dream or stop.
New Challenge what Pokémon will Leaf use? a little heads up, Leaf's starter was Bulbasaur, and we know it evolved.
