Author's Note: I'm here with another episode of Total Danganronpa Island! And, uh, there's a lot of animal cruelty in this one. ...Oops. Also, this is HEAVILY unedited (I just wanted to hurry up and get this out—next episode will be fully edited, I promise)), so if you catch any mistakes, please let me know! But before you read, let's answer a couple of reviews:

siramay: Thanks!

Dunsparce519: I'm glad you like the returnees! And, don't worry, there will be plenty of the Celestia/Kokichi rivalry to come ;)

With that said, onto the chapter!

"Last time on Total Drama Island, the teams were dissolved, leaving each and every camper to look out for number one! And just to add a little more drama to the mix, Hiyoko and Kokichi returned for more fun! The campers were made to suffer all manner of abuse in the "No Pain, No Game" challenge. In a act of chivalry, Sayaka stepped up to save Leon from the perils of the leech barrel. And in a death display of log-rolling, a grizzly got a pirahna haircut, winning Maki invincibility. Thanks to some foul play by Celestia, it was Ryoma who got sent to the docks."

At the docks, as per usual, Chris stood there doing the recap. "Now that the campers are forced for fend for themselves, who will be selfless? Who will be selfish? And who will eat shellfish? Stay tuned for the most thrilling episode yet, on...

Total...

Drama...

Island!"

Episode Fifteen: Search and Do Not Despair

A distance shot opened the episode; a flock of birds flew through the sky, before zooming into the Dock of Shame. Sayaka sat there, legs dangling over the edge as she stared into the water with a forlorn look.

Leon was shown joining her soon after, taking a seat beside her. "You okay, Sayaka?"

Sayaka glanced over at him, then sighed. "Yeah... Just a bit stressed, that's all."

"Stressed? Yeah, I get it; we've been on this island for a while now, and . Do you... wanna talk about it? Maybe it would help you feel better."

"Oh, um, sure... Well, I miss my friends back home. And I know they're watching from home, but... It's kinda weird to be away from them for this long."

"Yeah, honestly, I feel you. I have a cousin at home." Leon paused to laugh. "She's kinda clingy, but we get along well. But back to you—we only have, what, less than four weeks here? We'll get through it."

Sayaka cracked a small smile. "Thank you. I feel a lot better now."

The two leaned against one another, and quietly looked out over the water.

Meanwhile, Maki was exiting her new trailer, situated not too far from the cottages. Rantaro was also leaving his cottage as well, and upon spotting her, waved.

"Hey, Maki. You're up early."

"Could say the same about you," she pointed out.

Rantaro chuckled. "Touché. How's the trailer going for you?"

Maki looked back in the direction of her trailer. Looking back at Rantaro, she replied, "It's surprisingly good. It came with a bed, shower, and it even has a pantry full of food."

Rantaro grinned. "Cool. It seems like—"

Before he could finish his sentence, a cannonball suddenly landed mere yards away from Maki, effectively destroying her trailer. Chris overtook the monitors soon after.

However, his voice was notably different as there was an attempt to imitate a pirate accent. "Arr, maties! Meet me at Jabberwock Park in five minutes, and I'll tell ye all about today's challenge!"

At Jabberwock Park, most of the contestants were gathered before Chris and Chef, who wore pirate costumes; in between them sat a sheet-covered lump. Maki and Rantaro were the last contestants to arrive, with the former not hiding her scowl from the host."

"Well, my little scallywags," Chris began, "have we got an adventure in store for ye!" The fake macaw on his shoulder tilted forward with a squeak, and he quickly pushed it back into place.

"What's under the sheet?" Hiyoko asked.

"All in good time, laddie!" the host answered. "Who here has a hankerin' for a good ol' fashioned treasure hunt? Now, this treasure hunt's got a twist, mateys! What you're lookin' for isn't hidden, and it isn't treasure!"

Leon rolled his eyes. "If there's no hidden treasure, then how the fuck is a treasure hunt?"

"Arr, shiver me timbers! Good question, me boy! You're lookin' for keys to a treasure chest!"

On cue, Chef pulled back the sheets to reveal three gleaming chests.

Chris continued. "Inside each of these chests is a treasure that will pamper you landlubbers! And, one of these chests will even give you invincibility! Now, 'come round and pull a clue of this bucket, or you'll have to walk the plank!"

Chef now held a metal bucket holding what looked like small wooden planks. Eleven hands went up and grabbed a plank at once.

"These clues tell ye where your key be stowed!" Chris explained.

"A bear?!" Leon eyes widened at his clue. "Seriously?"

"I was kinda hoping you'd get that one, dude," Chris chuckled, returning to his normal voice. He turned to Makoto. "And that there is the septic tank for the cottage bathrooms."

"Oh..." Makoto cringed, holding his clue further away from himself and with only his thumb and index finger.

Chris suddenly popped up behind Sayaka. "Ooh, and Chef's fridge! Nice. I hear he brushes it daily for fingerprints."

Sayaka gulped as she stared at her clue.

Standing back in his original spot, Chris regained his pirate accent. "All you scallywags, go find your keys and bring them back by 6 PM, Japan Standard Time, to open up your chests and get your loot! Fare thee well, young scallywags! Now get to it!"

CONFESSIONAL - LEON:

"So much for hoping for a normal challenge this week." Leon crossed his arms and huffed. "Whatever. The prize I get for doing this shit had better be worth it."

CONFESSIONAL - CELESTIA:

"I will admit, my position in the game isn't quite as good as it was before the merge," she admitted with a frown. "I also know that alliances alone won't get me to the finale, so I will have to do my best to win invincibility from now on."

On a wooden pole in the water, a golden key was hanging from it, while a trio of shark fins circled it. Rantaro, in his swimsuit, watched this while standing on the Dock of Shame.

"Rantaro's first challenge," Chris narrated, "To grab his key from the man-eating shark-infested water."

Rantaro then snapped his fingers, suddenly thinking of an idea. He walked off the dock and to the campgrounds, and when he came back, he had a bucket of chum in his possession.

With one great heave, Rantaro threw the bucket into the water, a good distance away from the pole. The sharks immediately went after the fish parts, buying him enough time to dive in and snatch the key.

"Sayaka must retrieve her key from inside Chef's bank vault of a fridge without getting caught," Chris voiced over Sayaka creeping inside the kitchen, occasionally glancing behind her to make sure Chef wasn't behind her.

She made her way to a small white fridge, slowly examining it before knocking on the door. To her horror, something—or rather, someone—knocked back.

Hiyoko stared between her clue and the skunk hole in front of her, grimacing.

"Are you okay?" Junko asked, walking up beside her.

"My key's in that skunk hole." Hiyoko gestured to the skunk hole, plugging her nose. "But it totally stinks, and I don't want to get my kimono dirty..."

Junko rubbed her chin in thought. "Hmm... What about pouring some water in there and flushing them out? I think skunks can swim."

Hiyoko gave her an unsure look, but eventually, she and Junko had brought back a large bucket filled with water. Together, the girls poured the water into the skunk hole, flushing the skunks out.

"Yes!" Hiyoko exclaimed, reaching in and pulling out a key. "Thanks, Junko!"

In the restaurant again, Chef was snoring away in a chair in the restaurant. Unbeknownst to him, Leon was crouched down beneath a table, keeping an eye on the man while Sayaka retrieved her key.

When he turned his head to see how she was doing, Leon accidentally bumped his head against the bottom of the table, causing him to yelp loudly. Chef awoke, and with quick thinking, Leon did his best impression of Chris:

"Chef, please report to the docks so we can discuss a raise in your paycheck. Chef, please report to the docks."

Chef perked up. "A raise? Now that's what I'm talkin' about!"

Chef ran out out of the dining hall, leaving a slightly confused Leon to mutter, "Huh. I can't believe that actually worked."

Seconds later, Sayaka emerged from the kitchen with her key. She noticed Chef gone, but decided not to comment on it, instead giving Leon a grateful smile. "Thanks for keeping cover, Leon."

Leon crawled out from under the table, standing up. "Yeah, no problem."

Sayaka and Leon stared at each other for a long moment. Then, suddenly, Sayaka swooped forward and kissed Leon directly on the lips. Leon, though surprised, kissed back.

At that moment, the footage paused and none other than Chris began to speak. "Aw, what a trust-building, heart-warming moment." He then circled the teen's lips with a white marker. "Did I see tongue?"

CONFESSIONAL - SAYAKA:

A blush covered her face as she giggled. "I don't know what came over me. I guess I just realized that... I really like Leon."

CONFESSIONAL - LEON:

"Huh," he said, his face flushed, "I guess this makes us official, right?"

CONFESSIONAL - JUNKO:

"Wait, Leon and Sayaka are, like, a thing now?" she asked, slightly surprised. "I knew they were close, but I didn't know they liked each other." She paused. "Yeah, one of them has got to go."

A clue depicting a key over a fire was shown, then was lowered to show a metal ring of fire at the beach.

Junko pursed her lips, then got into a running position. In one swift move, Junko jumped through the hoop and landed with her key in hand.

"Junko's athleticism seems to be helping her with this challenge," Chris spoke.

Junko turned around to head back to the campgrounds, only to come face to face with Celestia. "Oh, hey, Celestia. Did you get your key yet?"

Celestia shook her head. "Not yet. I wanted to discuss tonight's vote with you."

"Actually, perfect timing, Celes! We should vote for Leon."

"Elaborate."

"Well, I'm pretty sure Sayaka and Leon are dating."

Celestia nodded knowingly. "Ah, like an alliance?"

Junko gave her a quizzical look. "Uh, I guess? But mostly the boyfriend-girlfriend part. If we vote off Leon, then Sayaka will probably be too depressed to do anything, and that means one less competitor to deal with. Two birds, one stone, y'know?"

Celestia tapped her nails together and hummed in consideration. "Hmm... Yes, it does seem like a sound plan."

"So we're in agreement?"

"Of course."

"Good. I'll tell everyone to vote for Leon, then."

"I guess this is the place," Leon commented.

He and Sayaka stood outside a cave, staring at it with apprehension.

"How are you gonna get your key?" she asked.

"I dunno," Leon admitted, peeking in the cave. Inside, a bear was sleeping on the rocky ground with the key around its neck. "But it's not gonna be easy, that's for sure."

Maki pursed her lips as she looked at her clue. Lowering it, she stared at the bunny before her; the key sat in front of the innocent-looking creature. She reached her hand towards the bunny, only for it to bare its teeth and lunge at her; Maki, however, was faster and swiftly kicked the animal, launching it far, far away.

"...Oops," Maki muttered as she swiped her key off the ground.

"Maki!" a voice suddenly called out to her.

Immediately, Maki scowled and whipped around to face the source. "What do you want, Kokichi?"

"Listen," Kokichi put his hands up in defense, "I'm not here to start trouble—this time. I actually want to discuss something with you."

Maki raised a skeptic eyebrow. "What is it?"

"Look, I know you don't like Celestia. I don't really like her, either. Plus, I'm 99% sure she's doing some foul play, so we should work together to take her down."

"Work together?" Maki pulled her lips in a thin line. "Why don't we just vote Celestia out?"

"Because we just don't want to get of Celestia, we want to expose her. If we just vote her out, then we look like the bad guys. So, if we get rid of her allies—"

"—then she might get desperate and make a mistake."

"Exactly."

Maki seemed more willing to listen to him now, her body language relaxing. "So, who are Celestia's allies, exactly?"

"Makoto, for sure. Junko, too. And I think Hiyoko might be too, but I'm not completely sure about her yet."

"Huh. So how do you propose we get rid of them?"

"Let's start with Junko—she's a bigger threat. We'll tell everyone else to vote her out tonight."

"And what if she wins invincibility?"

Kokichi pouted. "Jeez, you sure ask a lot of questions. I doubt she's gonna win it, but if she does, we'll just vote out Makoto instead. So, you in?"

Maki stared at him for a long moment. Then, "Fine. But only until Celestia is gone."

"Celestia seems a little out of her league," Chris commented over Celestia climbing a large tree; her key was hanging from one of the branches.

Once she'd reached the branch her key was on, Celestia slowly inched towards it. Just as her hand grazed the shiny object, however, a woodpecker unexpectedly flew down and perched itself directly on top of it and started pecking away at the branch.

CONFESSIONAL - CELESTIA:

"Have I mentioned how much I hate birds?" she asked. "Because I do, in fact, hate them."

"Oh, hell no." Celestia growled and grabbed the woodpecker by its throat with both hands, chucking it far away. With a self-satisfied smirk, she swiped the key...

...only for the branch to snap completely and send her plummeting to the ground, hard. "Ow!"

"There you are!"

Rantaro raised an eyebrow from his spot on a log stump at the beach when he noticed Maki and Kokichi approaching him. He glanced between the two. "Maki? Kokichi? What's this?"

"I'm only with him because we're trying to vote Junko off," Maki explained.

"Junko? Why?"

"It's part of our bigger plan to take Celestia down," Kokichi answered.

"Wait, is it because of the whole Ryoma thing?" Rantaro asked. "Don't you think that's a bit overblown?"

"Not really," Kokichi replied. "She's been doing a whole bunch of scummy things since the beginning of the competition."

Rantaro blinked. "Oh. Wait, but you guys are voting for... Junko?"

"It'll make sense later," was all Maki said.

"Okay? Uh, well... I guess I'll vote for Junko, then."

A grin stretched across Kokichi's face. "Pleasure doing business with you."

Makoto was in his cottage's bathroom, staring at the toliet in confusion.

"Do I just... go in and grab it?" he asked no one in particular.

With no answer, Makoto let out a long sigh before hesitantly lowering himself beside the toilet and sticking his arm inside. When he didn't feel a key, he tried to pull his arm out only to realize it was stuck. He panicked and yanked, but to no avail.

But, as if it were a miracle, someone entered his cottage. "Makoto?" they called out.

"Please help!" Makoto exclaimed.

Soon after, Maki came running into the bathroom, halting to a stop once she noticed the predicament he was in. Her expression morphed into one of confused surprise.

"You, uh... need some help?" she asked.

"Please!" Makoto pleaded.

Maki went over and hoisted her arms under his armpits and pulled. She pulled a couple more times, and Makoto's arm finally gave way. He immediately retracted his arm, holding it away from himself at arms length, offering Maki a grateful smile.

"Thanks."

Maki awkwardly shifted, crossing her arms. "Yeah... no problem. Uh... I wanted to tell you something."

Makoto tilted his head curiously. "What is it?"

"We need you to help us vote off Junko."

"Junko?" Makoto gave her a confused look.

"Yeah. She's been doing some shady stuff."

"Oh." Makoto's mouth hung open. "Sure? What for—"

Maki cut him off. "I don't really have time to explain. Just know that she's involved in some shady stuff."

Before he could respond, Maki ran out of the cottage just as quickly as she camera. Makoto turned to put on a pair of clean clothes, only for Junko to come running in not long after.

"Makoto—!" Junko's eyes suddenly traveled to his sleeve. "Uh, what's going on with your arm there?"

"Was trying to get my key," he responded.

"Oh. Well, anyways, we need you to vote for Leon at the ceremony tonight, okay?"

Makoto blinked. "O...kay?"

"Good talk!"

And Junko was off again, leaving a dumbfounded Makoto to gawk at his now empty doorway.

"Okay," Kaito told himself as he paced in place in front of a beehive. "I've got this. Just grab the key and run."

He dashed towards the beehive and quickly retrieved his key, but not without a few minor stings, before running off. He didn't get very far before someone stuck their foot out of the forest trees and tripped him, sending him colliding with rocky ground.

Kaito stumbled to his feet, his expression turning into a scowl as he glared at a smiling Kokichi. "What the hell did you do that for?!"

Kokichi covered his mouth with his hand, as if he was trying to stiffle a laugh. "Sorry, couldn't resist. But, seriously. You need to vote for Junko at the elimination ceremony tonight—she's bad news."

Kaito crossed his arms and shot the shorter boy an apprehensive look. He was about to open his mouth when Maki suddenly appeared beside Kokichi and said, "He's telling the truth."

Kaito blinked and stared between the two. "Uh... Yeah. Yeah, I'll vote for Junko."

Sayaka and Leon were still hanging around the mouth of the cave, seemingly unable to come up with a plan on how to get the latter's key.

Eventually, Sayaka sighed and pushed herself out of her sitting spot between two rocks. "I think we might have to call it quits," she said.

Just as Leon began to follow her lead, Maki approached the duo, much to their confusion.

"Maki?" Sayaka spoke.

"Didn't mean to interrupt anything," Maki started, "but I need to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"Junko. We need your help voting her off tonight."

Leon snorted. "Way ahead of you there. You know what she did, too?"

Maki furrowed her brows. "Uh... no? What'd she do?"

Leon gave her an awkward look. "...I'll tell you later. But, yeah, we're voting for Junko."

Maki nodded before taking off again, leaving Sayaka and Leon to exchange a look. Then, he suddenly said, "Wait—I just thought of an idea on how I can get my key."

Sayaka tilted her head and gave him a confused look. "Yeah?"

"I'm gonna lure the bear out. When it leaves, I need you to go in the cave and get the key, okay?"

"Me?" Realization finally dawned on Sayaka, and her eyes widened in horror. "Leon, no—"

However, she came to the realization a second too late, as he already picked up a rock and yelled, "Hey, fatass! Come and get me!"

The rock hit the bear on the head with accurate precision, causing the animal to stir and lift its head in Leon's direction. The redhead took off running, and the beast left the cave gave chase soon after.

Sayaka hesitantly entered the cave and came back with Leon's key, then followed after in the general direction of Leon and the bear.

Kaede's keys was in the coils of a rattlesnake, which she observed from behind a bush with a hesitant look.

"Hmm..." She glanced around and her eyes landed on a nearby stick. Swiping it up, she carefully lifted it towards the snake with shaky hands and once she was sure it wouldn't unexpectedly lunge at her, she hit the ground directly in front of the animal. Instead of the snake fleeing, it bit down on the end of the stick, causing Kaede to shriek and flung it with the snake still on it.

"Oh, crap!" Kaede exclaimed, wincing when the stick hit the ground. She then spotted her key still lying on the ground, and dashed over and snatched it up. "Yes!"

As soon as she turned around, she saw Kaito approaching. "Hey, Kaito," she said. "Did you get your key yet?"

"Yep." Kaito spun said key around the finger of his non-injured hand. "Oh, and you should vote for Junko tonight."

Kaede gave him a look. "Junko?"

"Yeah. Maki and Kokichi say that she's involved in some bad stuff."

"Really? Huh." She glanced off to the side. "Well, thanks for telling me."

Kokichi was the last one shown retrieving his key; it was trapped in a wine glass sitting on a rock a couple of alligators seemingly guarding it.

Kokichi was standing on the safety of the bridge suspended above it, a rock in hand. He leaned over and taunted, "Hey, water rats! Eat this—"

Gravity seemed not to be on Kokichi's side, however, as he ended up falling over and landing straight into the water. When he resurfaced, the alligators immediately locked in on him. He shot them a sheepish look, but that didn't deter the alligators from charging at him, leading him to snatch the key out of the glass before making a dash for it.

Maki and Rantaro were hanging out by the cottages when Kokichi came stumbling towards them, clothes slightly torn and looking disheveled.

"...What happened to you?" Maki asked, she and Rantaro staring in surprise.

"Not all plans turn out well," was his answer.

Before Maki or Rantaro could question him further, Chris suddenly overtook the monitors, "Alright, campers! Meet me at the campfire in ten! And bring your keys!"

"Yarr!" Chris exclaimed in his pirate accent at the beach, by the campfire pit. All of the contestants, sans Sayaka and Leon, stood before him with their keys (or lack thereof). "It be time to claim your treasure! Those fortunate enough to bear a precious key, come forth with it!"

The campers with keys started to make their way to the chests, only to be interrupted by frantic sounds and growling. Everyone turned around to see Leon running towards them, a bear and Sayaka in tow.

"Bear!" Leon screamed, pointing at the beast.

The other campers gasped, while Chris brought out a tranquilizer gun and fired a few rounds. The first two took down the bear, but the third one ended up nicking Leon in the shoulder, and he fell to the ground.

"Oops," Chris said in his normal voice as most of the teens stared in horror. "Anyway! Treasure time!"

Rantaro was the first to use his keys, retrieving a bag of chips, a candy bar, and a can of soda out of his chest. "Nice," he commented.

Celestia was next, growling when her chest wouldn't open. "Excuse me," she seethed through gritted teeth, "my key doesn't seem to fit."

"Oh, yeah," Chris told her with a laugh, "I forgot to mention that some keys don't open up any chests!"

Celestia gripped her key tighter. "Just... great."

CONFESSIONAL - CELESTIA:

Celestia didn't bother hiding her anger, as she bent her key in rage. "I did all of that... for nothing?" She then took a few deep breaths, eventually calming herself down. "...No worries. There is still plenty of challenges ahead of us."

"Ooh, that's gotta hurt, eh, Celes?" Kokichi teased, nudging the raven-haired girl.

Celestia shot him a death glare before stomping off, much to Kokichi's amusement.

Next was Junko, who opened it to find a gift basket with a red and gold card with a marshmallow printed on the front sticking out of it. Taking it out, she asked, "Woah, this is an invincibility pass, right?"

"You "doubt it", huh?" Maki whispered to Kokichi, crossing her arms. Kokichi responded with an almost sheepish expression.

Hiyoko pouted as she withdrew a large rock from her chest. "A rock? Seriously?"

"It's the only one on the island," Chris said. "...That we know of."

"Yeah, no thanks," Hiyoko replied, dropping the rock back into the chest. "You can keep it." She suddenly shook her head and hesitantly picked up the rock again.

Some time later, all of the campers were lined up with their gifts (or lack thereof); Kaito looking curiously at his lamp, Kaede with an accordion, Junko and her gift basket, an angry and empty-handed Celestia, a disappointed and just as empty-handed Makoto, Maki with a toaster, Kokichi and a couple of sodas, Hiyoko now struggling with her rock, Leon still out cold on the ground, and a concerned Sayaka staring at him while holding what looked like an inkpen kit.

"I hope everyone got the treasure they were looking for and more," Chris said. "But now, it's time to do your duty and send one of you off the island, for good. So cast your votes," —he temporarily switched back to his pirate accent— "and I'll see ye buccaneers back at the campfire after sundown!"

CONFESSIONAL - MAKOTO:

He cradled his head in his hands, staring at the camera miserably. "I know Maki told me to vote for Junko, but Celestia's voting for Leon..." He sighed. "What am I going to do...?"

CONFESSIONAL - LEON:

He was still out of it from the tranq dart, only managing to get out a vague name.

CONFESSIONAL - KAEDE:

"Junko's immune," she started, "so I guess I'll vote for Celestia."

CONFESSIONAL - MAKI:

"Makoto," she said simply.

At the elimination ceremony later that night, all of the campers (and Leon, who was now free from the effects of the dart) were sitting around the campfire pit, and Chris stood before them, marshmallows in hand.

"And now, the moment we've been waiting for," Chris began, "the moment of truth. Marshmallow time! You know the routine: whoever doesn't get a marshmallow, it's curtains for you!"

He began tossing marshmallows to the campers without pause.

"Junko, Maki, Rantaro, Kaede, Hiyoko, Kokichi, Kaito, Sayaka, Makoto, Celestia, marshmallows for the lot of you!"

Leon's eyes widened as they landed upon a completely empty plate.

"Looks like you're out," Chris told him.

"What?!" Leon shot up to his feet and turned, catching the various expressions of the other contestants: confusion, anger, relief, and then some. "You all voted for me?" His eyes locked in on Junko. "You had something to do with this, didn't you?!"

Junko opened her mouth, but was interrupted when Chris spoke:

"Leon. You have a trip to the Dock of Shame and a ticket to the Boat of Losers. Let's go."

Leon ultimately sighed and turned, starting his trek to the Dock of Shame.

"Thanks for walking me down the dock, Sayaka," Leon thanked as the two walked down the dock together.

"No problem," Sayaka smiled. "Oh, and bout that kiss... That makes us official now, right?"

"Huh?" Leon asked. "Oh—do you want to be?"

Sayaka giggled, slipping a small slip of paper into Leon's pocket as she pulled him into a hug. "Call me after the competition ends, and I'll give you my answer then."

"Yes, ma'am," Leon said, stepping onto the boat waiting for him. He waved. "See ya, Sayaka!"

"Bye, Leon!" Sayaka waved back and continued to wave until the boat was completely out of sight.

"Charming," Chris chuckled back at the campfire pit. "Well, that's it for tonight. I'll see you kids tomorrow." He turned to the camera. "And I'll see you guys next episode on... Total! Drama! Island!"
