Chapter 1

A thunderclap shook the night sky and rattled the windows of our clan mansion. Rain hammered the metal roof like a blacksmith hammering steel. It was one of the rarer sights in Konohagakure, a fully raging storm with wind speeds kilometers above what the normal was. Wind whipped at the Uchiha banner hanging on the largest tree in the yard like a wild beast, completely untamable. It reminded some of the night the Kyuubi attacked, all those years ago. The same night half the village was destroyed, along with over half its population and the Fourth Hokage. While many of the Uchiha clan fought valiantly, even those who survived paid a dear price. Some were weakened to a state they recovered from months later, others were completely drained and either died or lost their vision because they overworked their dojutsu. While they fought, one woman stayed behind to protect her newborn daughter. And what she found surprised her more than that of the mountain-sized beast she could see over the village houses. And that thing was a baby boy of similar age to her own daughter, though one feature on his newborn face stuck out like a sore thumb. A spiral made of four spikes that sent shivers down the woman's spine for an unkown reason that circled his right eye. And her being the wife of the Clan Head, she'd seen some things she'd never wish to remember. But nothing had ever had that sort of effect.

But luckily for the boy, she soon recovered from her shock and rushed the newborn inside, who had not made a sound or shed a tear the entirety of his life.

She bandaged a small cut on the boy's arm, while also grimacing as it had reminded her of a wound from a weapon. She proceeded to feed the boy, who refused to drink milk, but preferred crushed apples. The woman, Mikoto, thought the boy would grow up to be one of the strangest people she'd ever encountered. While she was contemplating her decisions, she heard her daughter, Sasuki, crying from the other room and a tired boy of roughly six came out from the hallway rubbing his tired eyes. She instantly remembered the friend of her son, who was asking what's the loud sounds coming from the village. She quickly told the boy, who was named Itachi, to bring the newborn boy to his friend Shisui for their family to take care of. She knew her husband Fugaku would never allow another child, she struggled to keep Sasuki, she'd lose the child as soon as he returned from the chaos outside. 'Maybe Shisui's mother could take the boy in, after all, she only had Shisui and he wanted a brother. So it all works out for the poor boy.' She quickly wrote a note after making her decision and thought silently about a name for the new addition to their clan.

"Kensei." She finally, after a few minutes of thought, decided. "Kensei Uchiha." She wrote down the name and sent it along with the boy.
