A/N: Rough translation for the songs in (brackets)

Chapter 11: Hope's Focus

Takeru woke up seeing Patamon to his side. He rolled over and rested his head on his left hand as he carefully pet Patamon. Patamon didn't wake up. Takeru went to the side of his bed and tried to stand up but he immediately felt dizzy and sat back down.

"Calm down… focus just focus… what happened after I collapsed yesterday..? When did I collapse yesterday..? Ugh all this serious thinking is giving me a headache…"

Takeru looked over to the clock and saw that it was noon. He stood up and managed to get to his desk before he sat back down because of his headache. He saw a paper on his desk that seemed to have the lyrics of a song. A song very dear to him. A song he had wanted to get his brother to arrange music for. It was his song for Hikari.

"Right, I need to get Onii-Chan to make music for that… maybe I'll look at the lyrics again…"

Takeru finished reading through the song and sighed.

"I hope one day I'll find the courage to ask you, Hikari… Our friendship is too precious to sacrifice…"

Takeru felt a weight on his head and glanced upwards to see Patamon.

Patamon: "Reading it again?"

Takeru: "Sigh yes… it… puts me at ease sometimes…"

Patamon: "Takeru…"

Takeru: "I'm going to take a shower, I'll make some food for you after I'm done. You must be hungry after yesterday."

Patamon: "Ok…"

As you all probably know, this is Takeru's song from the best partner album. This obviously means next chapter will be the supposed response to this song, which is 'Reflection'. Hikari's song from the girls' festival album. Originally, 'focus' has been a sorta gray area because some people think it's for Hikari and some people think it's for Patamon. Personally, in the context of Adventure 1999, it certainly fits Patamon considering Takeru's character and cos of the line where Takeru talks about the crying. Hikari doesn't really cry much in 1999. Patamon cries more. However, in 2020 timeline, Hikari actually cries more than Patamon so technically for 2020 this song would suit Hikari more. I might be rambling a bit here, but this is just my opinion on how the songs are supposed to be and how I can bend it a little to fit for 2020. :D
