Chapter 19: Radiance of Miracles

Campsite

The older Digidestined were currently setting up the campsite as Koushiro sat at the bench, rapidly typing. Yamato's dad was currently fishing by the river next to the campsite.

Koushiro: "When it was there… it was giving off this energy signature… so now I just need to find it elsewhere…"

Sora: "Maybe it's underground?"

Yamato: "Or maybe its in the air, it had to have moved somehow."

Koushiro: "Based on the picture Hikari sent me, it's probably not underground. Which means… found it!"

Yamato: "Really?"

Koushiro: "Yes, it's currently flying over a desert. I'm going to go in and tell them about this."

Before Sora and Yamato could even react, Koushiro had disappeared into the computer.

The Digidestined were waking up when they saw a gate open in front of them. The Digimon instinctively got in front of their partners. They all calmed down when they saw Koushiro come out of the gate.

Koushiro: "I found the Kaiser's base. It's over in that direction. Although it's quite far."

The Digidestined took note of the direction Koushiro was pointing towards and nodded.

Takeru: "Looks like we can't take it slow anymore."

Koushiro: "On the bright side, Armor-evolution won't take much energy from you guys. Please be careful guys."

Hikari: "Thanks, Koushiro. We will do our best."

With that, Koushiro went through the gate again and it closed. The Digidestined looked to their partners and nodded. Hawkmon, Patamon, Tailmon and Veemon all Armor-evolved to the form best suited for speed. Iori and Armadimon got on Holsmon and the Digidestined began to move towards the direction of the Kaiser's base.

Kaiser's base

Ken: "Now then, I just need to add Devimon's data here…"

Wormmon: "Ken…"

Ken: "Finally, my Digimon is complete. Those Digidestined won't even know what hit them. My very own partner Digimon, my perfect creation. Chimeramon."

"But I'm your partner, Ken…"

Just then, one of Ken's monitors started to beep.

Ken: "Ah, looks like they have finally arrived."

"Hmm, my creation may be powerful, but I don't know how well it will do against those Holy Digimon. HolyAngemon and Angewomon... they have great synergy. I should play it safe even if Chimeramon has slightly more power than them. I will let them infiltrate my base. That way they have the disadvantage coming to me."

The Digidestined were currently flying across a desert region, with Lighdramon running below them. In the distance, they could see something flying in the air.

Iori: "Is that..?"

Takeru: "It seems like it."

Voice: "Don't worry, that is the Kaiser's base."

The Digidestined turned to the voice, which ended up coming from Pegasmon. Miyako and Iori were shocked, as Pegasmon's eyes were blood red.

Miyako: "Who are you? What did you do with Pegasmon!?"

Takeru: "Calm down, it's fine. How do you know, Devimon?"

Devimon: "I can sense the dark energy from that structure. It feels… odd. Like a mix of light and darkness…"

Nefertimon: "You're right… I can sense it too."

Hikari: "What do you think it is?"

Devimon: "It feels like a… Digimon? Yet, there shouldn't be a Digimon that the Kaiser can control with a power over light and darkness."

Takeru: "I see. Thanks, Devimon."

Devimon: "Anytime, Takeru. Just be cautious. I will help in any way I can."

Pegasmon's eyes went back to normal.

Miyako: "What was that?"

Iori: "You said Devimon, is this a side effect of when Angemon absorbed Devimon?"

Takeru: "Yeah, but Devimon isn't that bad right now. He's quite nice once you get to know him."

Hikari: "Anyways, we should land and get Daisuke."

Pegasmon: "I'll get him."

Pegasmon then swooped down and was next to Lighdramon.

Takeru: "Hop on, that's the Kaiser's base up ahead."

Lighdramon reverted to Veemon and both Daisuke and Veemon hopped onto Pegasmon. The Digidestined were nearing the base and saw a small opening in the side. They all quickly went through it and landed inside the Kaiser's base, they appeared to be in a hanger of sorts.

Takeru: "Guess this is it. It's time."

Takeru looked over to Hikari and they both nodded, clenching their Digivices.

"Patamon Evolution! Angemon!"

Hikari: "It's a good thing this doesn't require any extra energy than normal."

Takeru: "Yeah, it's very odd that we need to activate the crest of Faith for Angemon, even if it doesn't actually use our energy."

Hikari turned towards Agumon in confusion. Agumon was currently muttering something to himself.

Hikari: "What are you doing Agumon?"

Agumon: "Eh, don't worry, Hikari. I'm just… following Angemon's advice."

Tailmon: "Angemon's advice?"

Angemon: "Ah, that, it could work."

Agumon: "Right, 'Calm your heart and feel… Feel the presence irreplaceable to you…' there. I've got it. I know where Taichi is."

Angemon smiled.

Angemon: "Good job. Now, it's time for us to do our job. Agumon, you go and free Taichi. We will distract the Kaiser and defeat him."

Agumon: "Got it."

Agumon began to run off.

Hikari: "Be careful, Agumon!"

Tailmon: "Now, where do we go…"

Voice: "You don't have to worry about that."

Daisuke: "Ken…"

Just then, a loud roar was heard, and a beast crashed down in front of the Digidestined.

Iori: "What is that..?"

Miyako: "Is that a… Digimon..?"

Daisuke: "It looks like… a lot of Digimon we've seen before…"

Takeru: "Hikari…"

Hikari: "Right… it feels like…"

Angemon: "It can't be… we destroyed him. He can't have come back so quickly…"

Tailmon: "We can't let him run loose again. At least he isn't in the same form as when we last saw it. He's probably not evolved fully. We need to stop him now."

Iori: "You've seen this… thing before?"

Takeru: "No… not in this form…"

Hikari: "But we can feel it…"

Miyako: "What is it..?"

Angemon: "The reincarnation of…"

Tailmon: "Millennuimon."

Daisuke: "Isn't that the thing you were trying to stop years ago?"

Takeru: "Yes."

Angemon: "To think it could be back so soon…"

Hikari: "It doesn't matter."

Tailmon: "Right, we won't give up. We won't let him come back to destroy the Digital World again."

Ken: "You guys sure talk a lot. Does my Digimon really instil that much fear? That you don't even want to fight it? Why don't you just give up? You won't win against my Chimeramon anyways."

Takeru: "Let's do this, Hikari."

Hikari: "Right with you, Takeru."

Takeru and Hikari intertwined their fingers and clenched their Digivices in their other hands. Their Digivices glowed yellow and pink, with the crest of Faith on the display.

"Angemon Super-Evolution! HolyAngemon!"

"Tailmon Super-Evolution! Angewomon!"

Daisuke: "They won't get all the fun, let's get ready too, guys!"

Daisuke/Miyako/Iori: "Digimental Up!"

"Veemon, Armor-Evolution! Fladramon! Burning Courage!"

"Hawkmon, Armor-Evolution! Shurimon! Winds of Sincerity!"

"Armadimon, Armor-Evolution! Digmon! Steel Knowledge!"

Ken: "Yes, this will be fun."

The five Digimon charged towards Chimeramon, with the Armors staying a bit behind to provide support.

Digmon: "Gold Rush!"

Fladramon: "Knuckle Fire!"

Shurimon: "Kusanagi!"

The three attacks hit Chimeramon head on, yet he shrugged it off like nothing had even hit him. Chimeramon roared and shot its Heat Viper attack towards the Armors. However, HolyAngemon went in front of them and used his shield to block the attack.

Digmon: "That was close, thanks HolyAngemon."

HolyAngemon: "No problem."

Angewomon: "Holy Arrow!"

Angewomon's attack hit Chimeramon in the body, causing it to stagger but was relatively undamaged.

Ken: "I told you already, you won't win against my creation."

Takeru: "It has a lot of strength and durability…"

Hikari: "We also can't evolve again. They will be too big and destroy this place."

Takeru: "How long more can you go?"

Hikari: "I'm not sure… it's definitely not as exhausting as when we had Goddramon and Holydramon, but I'm not sure how long more we can go without collapsing…"

Takeru: "Then we should end this soon…"

Hikari: "Angewomon, Holyangemon! End this as quickly as you can!"

Angewomon and HolyAngemon both nodded and started to go on the offensive. HolyAngemon charged forward with his Excalibur and slashed at Chimeramon at a rapid speed. Chimeramon was consistently blocking with its multiple arms. The Armors took advantage of this and sent waves of attacks at Chimeramon's sides. Angewomon managed to get behind Chimeramon.

Angewomon: "Heaven's Charm!"

Angewomon's attack hit Chimeramon in the back, causing it to stagger, allowing HolyAngemon to hit Chimeramon with his sword. Chimeramon roared loudly and was starting to show some scratches and bruises.

Ken: "Go for the weaker ones first!"

Chimeramon immediately started using its Heat Viper attack and rapidly fired while turning his head around. Angewomon was fast enough to dodge it, while HolyAngemon held his shield up to protect himself.

Iori: "Digmon! Revert!"

Digmon reverted to Armadimon and managed to dodge the attack due to being a smaller size. Fladramon jumped around and did his best to block some of the attacks. Shurimon used his agility and flexibility to weave in between each attack. Chimeramon began to fire even faster, and his blasts were directed at the Digidestined.

The Digidestined held their hands up to cover their faces as the attacks got close to them. However, they were not hit as Takeru and Hikari had managed to use their Digivices to make a shield around all of them. Takeru and Hikari were panting very heavily.

Takeru: "HolyAngemon… Finish this… now! Banish him!"

Hikari: "One last… attack… Angewomon! Help HolyAngemon!"

HolyAngemon and Angewomon nodded. They both went in front of the Digidestined, side by side. HolyAngemon swung his sword around, creating the Heaven's Gate, while Angewomon prepared an arrow. Chimeramon roared and charged towards them. HolyAngemon smirked.

"Just according to plan."

As Chimeramon got closer to them, HolyAngemon prepared to open the gate.

Just as the gate was about to open, Takeru gasped and fell to his knees. He started to scream in pain.

Hikari: "TAKERU!"

Hikari quickly went down on one knee and had her arms on Takeru's shoulders. Takeru started to breathe heavily and suddenly began coughing. He brought his arm up to cover his mouth. When he removed it, his face paled. His hand had blood on it. Takeru turned to face Hikari to confirm his fears and Hikari's eyes quickly widened. She quickly stood up with a look of determination.

Hikari: "Angewomon!"

Angewomon immediately released the arrow. It hit Chimeramon's head, but there was barely any effect. Angewomon immediately outstretched her arms.

Angewomon: "Saint Air!"

Angewomon's attack went off, causing Chimeramon to be paralysed. Right after the attack though, both HolyAngemon and Angewomon reverted to Patamon and Plotmon as Hikari also fell to her knees and began to cough. Takeru's fears were confirmed when he saw the blood on Hikari's gloves. Patamon and Plotmon quickly went to their partners with concern on their faces.

Patamon: "Takeru!"

Plotmon: "Are you ok, Hikari!? What happened!?"

Ken looked at the Digidestined.

"Blood?"

Chimeramon, who was now over the paralysis from Angewomon's attack, began to move towards the Digidestined. Takeru managed to get onto one knee and put his hand in front of Hikari protectively, both of them panting heavily.

Ken's eyes widened and before he could even think, he shouted at Chimeramon.

Ken: "Stop! Don't go any further Chimeramon!"

Chimeramon immediately stopped and looked completely motionless. The new Digidestined took the opportunity and quickly went to Takeru and Hikari and helped them up. They moved behind some boxes out of Chimeramon's sight. Chimeramon made no movement. The armors reverted to their previous forms.

Daisuke: "What happened?"

Takeru: "We… used… too much…"

Hikari: "So this… is what Gennai… meant…"

Both Takeru and Hikari began to cough, although no blood came out this time.

Miyako "Are you two… ok..?"

Takeru: "We'll… be fine…"

Iori: "We better call Koushiro and the others."

Courageous Friendship: "Koushiro!"

Knowledge: "I assume you guys won?"

Sincere Love: "No! Takeru and Hikari can't fight anymore!"

Knowledge: "What? Is that why the energy suddenly died down? I thought you guys won… continue using codenames then."

Reliable Knowledge: "No time for that! Takeru and Hikari suddenly fell to their knees and were coughing blood!"

Knowledge: "What!? Takeru, Hikari! What happened!?"

Hope: "I don't… know… HolyAngemon was going… to open… the gate… but then… I felt… a lot of… pain…"

Light: "He coughed… blood… and our… partners reverted… soon after."

Knowledge: "Is this what Gennai meant..? Anyways, I need to get you two back, now."

Hope: "No… we can…"

Light: "Still fight… no, we have… to"

Knowledge: "Hikari, Takeru, I trust both of you a lot to make these decisions but you two are not in a state to continue. I will literally get Yamato and Sora to drag you two out.

Hope: "Koushiro… we have… to stay…"

Knowledge: "What are you talking abo-"

Light: "It's Millennuimon… He's back…"

Koushiro was silent for a moment.

Knowledge: "Are you sure?"

Hope: "Yes… he's just… in a previous form… we can feel it…"

Light: "It's his reincarnation…"

Koushiro: "Be careful. I know you two must do this but... just don't… don't die on me... we can't afford to lose any more Digidestined."

Hope: "Don't worry… Koushiro… we've gone through… worse…"

Light: "We just… need a little… time…"

"Why did I stop Chimeramon… I was winning there… why did I…"

Wormmon: "Ken… you don't want them to die… don't you?"

Ken: "What..?"

Wormmon: "You don't want them to die… Right?"

Ken scowled and kicked Wormmon. Yet, it didn't give him the satisfaction it usually did.

Ken: "Know your place, worm."

"What is this feeling..? It feels different from when I usually… What is wrong with me!?"

As Ken was thinking, Wormmon made his move and went to where the Digidestined were.

Miyako: "So what now?"

Iori: "What can we do..?"

Daisuke: "We stay and fight."

Miyako: "But how? All our Digimon are exhausted…"

Daisuke: "We just need to buy enough time for Hikari and Takeru then we can try taking the fight outside."

Wormmon: "I can help with that."

Iori: "Aren't you…"

Wormmon: "Yes, I'm Wormmon… The Kaiser's… no… Ken's partner."

Miyako: "Then why should we trust you?"

Wormmon: "I'm Ken's Digimon partner… The Digimon Kaiser isn't my kind partner.

Hikari: "Wormmon…"

Takeru: "How are you… going to help us…"

Wormmon: "The Kaiser… uses something to power his base. I think… if you use it, you might be able to win against him."

Miyako: "What do you mean use it?"

Wormmon: "I remember hearing him say it's some sort of special Digimental… maybe you guys can use it."

Daisuke looked to the group and nodded to them.

Daisuke: "I'll follow him. Miyako, Iori, get Hikari and Takeru out of here."

By now, Takeru and Hikari had caught their breath but still looked like they were experiencing some pain.

Takeru: "No, we won't leave here. We will take on the Kaiser."

Hikari: "Takeru's right."

Miyako: "Are you two crazy?! How are you going to do anything in the state you two are in?"

Iori: "And you two shouldn't use your powers yet."

Takeru: "We aren't going to use the crest of Faith."

Hikari: "Ken was giving commands to Chimeramon. If we can distract Ken, we can buy Daisuke more time."

Plotmon: "Just make sure you don't push yourself, Hikari."

Patamon: "You too, Takeru."

Hikari: "Thanks, Plotmon."

Takeru: "Don't worry, we'll be fine."

Patamon's eyes turned red.

Devimon: "Takeru, you're an idiot. But… then again… that's what makes you… tolerable…"

Takeru: "Come on, admit it Devimon, I know you love me."

Devimon simply turned away and Patamon's eyes turned back to normal.

Hikari: "Alright then, let's go."

Daisuke and Veemon followed Wormmon through the base and came to a large drop. Daisuke gulped as he looked down the drop.

"I definitely don't want to fall from this…"

Wormmon spewed silk from his mouth, creating a mini bridge from the drop to what looked to be a platform leading to a reactor. Wormmon quickly travelled along it and reached the other side.

Wormmon: "The thread can withstand your weight, go for it."

Daisuke took a deep breath.

"I can do this… no... I have to do this."

Daisuke began to walk across the thread, which was surprisingly stable. It barely even moved as Daisuke went across the thread. Daisuke managed to make his way over to the reactor with Wormmon. Veemon proceeded to bust down the door with a headbutt. Inside the reactor was a black egg.

Daisuke: "This is the Digimental?"

Wormmon: "Yes, it is."

Daisuke: "But if it's a Digimental then… it may belong to someone else."

Wormmon: "You won't know until you try. Please, I don't want to serve the Kaiser anymore. I want to be partners again with my kind Ken."

Daisuke looked at Wormmon.

"Wormmon… He is placing his trust in me to save Ken… But can I do it..? It might not even be my Digimental…"

Veemon: "Daisuke! Where's your Courage?"

Daisuke: "Veemon..?"

Veemon: "When I first met you, you inherited Courage. And all the way, you were able to fight alongside me and make me stronger. Even before we came here, you were smart using both my Armors to defeat our opponent. I trust you Daisuke. You can do this."

Daisuke: "Veemon… I trust you too, let's do this!"

Just then, the black Digimental started to glow golden. The black casing around it fell apart, revealing a golden Digimental. The Digimental went into Daisuke's arms.

Daisuke: "Heh, looks like it really was mine. Let's do this, Veemon! Digimental Up!"

"Veemon, Armor-Evolution! Magnamon! Radiance of Miracles!"

Daisuke: "Magnamon…"

Magnamon: "Daisuke. Get to the rest. I will handle Chimeramon."

Daisuke: "Got it, Magnamon."

"What is this feeling… I don't…"

Ken then noticed Daisuke, Veemon and Wormmon at the reactor entrance.

Ken: "What!? When did they get there?! Chime-"

Takeru: "Stop right there!"

Ken: "What?"

Ken turned around to see Takeru, Hikari, Miyako, Iori and their partners standing before him.

Ken: "How did you get here? I saw you two! You were practically dead!"

Ken was about call Chimeramon, but he was hesitating.

"What is this feeling? Why am I feeling it again? Why am hesitating? No! I've come so far. Soon the Digital World will be under my control. These kids will not stop me!"

Hikari: "We've gone through much worse than what happened just now."

Takeru: "It'll take a lot more than that to get rid of us."

Just then, a bright golden light started to come from the reactor.

Ken: "No! They didn't!"

"Veemon, Armor-Evolution! Magnamon! Radiance of Miracles!"

Just then, the base began to shake, and it was obvious that they were falling.

Miyako: "Magnamon…"

Iori: "A new Armor-evolution…"

Ken: "Chimeramon! Attack!"

Chimeramon suddenly turned around and rushed towards Magnamon. Magnamon rushed towards Chimeramon as well.

Chimeramon swiped at Magnamon, however, Magnamon was too fast for it and dodged it. Magnamon landed on the wall and pushed off it.

Magnamon: "Magnum Punch!"

Chimeramon was smashed into the wall. Magnamon continued his assault by constantly and rapidly punching at Chimeramon's head. Chimeramon used his hands and swiped at Magnamon. Magnamon was too fast and dodged all his hands. Chimeramon then opened his mouth and prepared to use his Heat Viper. As he shot the attack, Magnamon flew upwards and dodged it. He began to rapidly descend and kicked Chimeramon.

Ken: "No! Chimeramon cannot lose! He is the perfect creation!"

Voice: "That's where you're wrong, Ken."

Ken: "What?"

Ken turned around to see Daisuke had joined the rest of the Digidestined.

Daisuke: "Chimeramon is just data of other Digimon, he will never know how to fight Magnamon."

Ken: "Shut up! You won't win this! My creation, my Chimeramon, will never lose!"

Daisuke: "It's not about winning or losing! This isn't a game!"

Miyako: "You think you can just do that? You think you can just create a Digimon?!"

Iori: "You just took data form other Digimon, and you are proud of it? It's stupid! Digimon aren't toys to play with!"

Takeru: "Don't you see it? Digimon have souls too! They're alive! They're our irreplaceable and most important partners!"

Hikari: "They're right Ken. You won't win against us."

Ken: "Shut up! You worms! Stop trying to put false ideas into my head!"

Ken swung his whip towards Hikari. Hikari screamed and closed her eyes as all the new Digidestined were in shock. However, the whip never hit Hikari.

Hikari prepared for the pain, but it never came. Instead, Hikari only felt two arms wrap around her. She opened her eyes in confusion and her eyes widened in realisation.

Hikari: "Takeru?"

Takeru: "Hey, you ok?"

Hikari: "Yes, but what about yo-"

Takeru took his hat off and put it into Hikari's hands.

Takeru: "Hold onto this for a moment, Hika."

Hikari: "Takeru..?"

Takeru turned around to face Ken. Takeru's expression was neutral.

Ken: "So the knight has taken a stand?"

Takeru: "Are you done? This is getting old."

Ken: "Heh, I'll be done when you kneel."

Takeru smirked and his face looked so calm that it was eerie.

Takeru: "Sorry, but the floor is a little dirty."

Ken: "Grr, you will not mock me!"

Ken swung his whip, and it hit Takeru on his cheek. Takeru didn't flinch. Takeru brought his hand up and touched the wound on his cheek. He looked at his hand and saw a little blood. Ken and the Digidestined all had shocked expressions.

Takeru: "Can't win with words. So, you resort to violence?"

Ken: "I… n-no…"

Takeru: "No? That's not what your actions have said in the last few minutes."

Ken: "I… I…"

Takeru: "You done? Because it's been three strikes, you're out."

Ken: "I… w-what..?"

Takeru: "Strike one, you hurt the Digimon, most of them are my friends. Strike two, you abandoned your own Digimon Partner, and even abused him."

Takeru's face then turned from being neutral to full of anger.

Takeru: "And lastly, strike three, you tried to hurt my Angel!"

Takeru charged forward immediately being enveloped in a white light as his and Hikari's Digivices started glowing. Takeru's wound was healed by the white light. Ken couldn't react and was hit square in the face by Takeru.

Ken slid across the floor. He got up quickly and charged at Takeru. He threw an uppercut, but Takeru saw it coming and jumped back. Ken smirked and used his other hand to grab the whip on the floor. With a quick turn, he swung it at Takeru. Takeru brought his hand up and caught the whip, his hand was encased in a pink light. Takeru pulled on the whip, bringing Ken towards him. Takeru punched Ken one more time sending Ken sliding across the floor. Takeru began to walk slowly towards Ken.

Suddenly, Patamon gasped, and his eyes turned blood red.

Devimon: "Takeru! Get back!"

Takeru quickly jumped backwards, just as Chimeramon was rammed into the space between Ken and Takeru. The white light surrounding Takeru faded.

Takeru: "Thanks, Devimon."

Miyako: "What got into you..?"

Daisuke: "Yeah man, that was badass!"

Takeru blushed.

Takeru: "It was nothing. But this place is falling apart."

Hikari: "Right, we need to get out of here, now."

Daisuke: "But what about Agumon?"

Patamon: "Agumon is strong, he will be able to get out."

Plotmon: "That's right, I believe in Agumon. I know he will get out of here safely."

Iori: "In that case, Armadimon, can you break us out of here?"

Armadimon: "Of course!"

Iori: "I'm counting on you, Digimental Up!"

"Armadimon Armor-Evolution! Digmon! Steel Knowledge!"

Digmon: "Gold Rush!"

Digimon's drills went straight through the wall of the Kaiser's base.

Takeru: "Patamon, ca-"

Patamon: "Don't worry, Takeru. I can do it!"

Takeru: "Alright, Digimental Up!"

Miyako: "You too, Hawkmon! Digimental Up!"

"Patamon, Armor-Evolution! Pegasmon! Soaring Hope!"

"Hawkmon, Armor-Evolution! Holsmon! Wings of Love!"

The Digidestined jumped out of the hole that Digmon had made, with Digmon holding onto Iori, Miyako and Daisuke on Holsmon and Takeru and Hikari on Pegasmon.

After that, Chimeramon and Magnamon burst out from the Kaiser's base. Magnamon and Chimeramon were at a standstill. Both were panting hard, but Magnamon was clearly panting harder.

Magnamon took a deep breath to compose himself, and cracked his knuckles.

Magnamon: "Now that we have more space, we can fight all out! Come at me, you beast!"

Chimeramon roared and charged towards Magnamon.

That's the end of this chapter. Keep in mind, Ken only ever saw HolyAngemon and Angewomon. He never saw Seraphimon or Ophanimon so that's why he isn't comparing Chimeramon to Mega digimon. This probably would have been a better cliff hanger if I didn't post two chapters at a time. :P
