Season 3 Episode 6

Continuing from the previous episode, Ayanokouji and Honami walked to school together and when they arrived, they split up for their respective classes.

Now homeroom period in Class C begins with some important announcements. "About the results end-of-year exam...

"You all passed." A pleased Chabashira-sensei announced to the class.

Many cheered about it as she spoke on. "These are your best results so far. Therefore I have no complaints."

"It was a piece of cake." said Yamauchi.

"But your score is at the second last place so don't get too cocky." Ike reminded him as the 2 boys began bickering and joking with one another as Yousuke smiled at their interaction.

"But...even after taking the end-of-year exam, not a single person has been expelled this year. This have never happened before in the history of this school for your batch. Therefore, the school has decided to conduct a supplementary special exam."

Everyone was shocked over another exam as many complained about it. "The school recognizes that you're all excellent."

"Then why?" Yamauchi asked.

"Yeah! Why is that?" Ike asked also.

"Us teachers take very seriously the burden that this unexpected exam will place on you." Chabashira-sensei spoke to the class.

"So Chabashira-sensei was dissatisfied with the school's response." Ayanokouji thought while observing.

"And you have no right to object." She spoke on.

"Sensei. What kind of exam will this be?" Yousuke asked.

"The special exam this time is...the Class Poll." She answered.

Ayanokouji remained silent and the rules are now being explained. "In 4 days from now, you will evaluate your classmates and select 3 students worthy of praise and 3 students worthy of criticism. The student with the most praise votes will receive a very special reward known as the Protection Point."

"Protection Point? What is that?" Horikita asked.

"It's a special privilege to have your expulsion nullified in case you are expelled from this school."

"That's a far too luxurious reward." Ayanokouji thought as many got excited over it.

"I have a question. What will happen to the 3 students voted in the criticism section?" Yousuke asked.

"Only one student will be eligible. The purpose of this exam is to sum up the praise votes as positive and the criticism votes as negative to determine one top student and one student to come in last place." Chabashira-sensei explained.

"One student to come in last place..." Ike exclaimed.

"Why did the school offer such a special reward like this Protection Point? Because this is an exam where it is probably impossible to advance without someone being expelled." Chabashira-sensei revealed to the class. "That's right. The student who places at the bottom...

"Will be expelled from this school."

Everyone had mixed reactions about it with some feeling shocked and others panicking. "In addition, the Protection Point given to the student in the first place this time cannot be transferred to others." She added.

"In other words, someone will definitely get expelled from the votes." Yousuke realized and is feeling conflicted inside.

"This exam is simple but the cruelest so far." Ayanokouji thought.

"Wait I don't get it?! You're seriously saying that someone will get expelled?! For real?!" Yamauchi sure panicked the most during the briefing.

"That's right." She replied. "But this time even if someone is expelled, the whole class will not be penalized."

"Expulsion itself is a reality, isn't it?" Ike groaned with worry.

"The Protection Point is a special reward. But we are forced to take a risk that is disproportionate to the reward." said Horikita and Ayanokouj just chilled and listened with mild boredom or something.

"It is natural to think that this exam is outrageous. However, since the school has decided it, we have no choice but to follow the rules and take it." Chabashira-sensei told the class. "Society is such a thing."

Sakayanagi's father, the board chairman, didn't seem to be the kind of person who'd implement such an outrageous exam. Unless...

Have they made their move already?

"It's still too early to be in despair! There have always been loopholes! So I'm sure there's should be a way to prevent expulsion!" Yousuke declared while standing up from his seat and Horikita supports his statement.

"Pointless." Chabashira-sensei declared to the class. "The voting will not stop unless a candidate for expulsion is decided. Besides, we'll also be asking you to vote for students outside your class too. So it's impossible to control the votes within the class."

"But sensei, you just said "probably" right?" Yousuke asked.

"Unless you have 20 million private points, it'll be a different story." She answered him. "Pay this amount and the school will have no choice but to rescind the expulsion."

"So there is a way but the requirement is too challenging..." He said to himself as he sat down.

"That's not the kind of points you can collect to save one person!" A frustrated Sudou exclaimed.

"That means after this exam, someone from this class will-"

"ARRGGGGH! What should we do?! The worst exam is about to begin!" Yamauchi has panicked to the max even interrupting Ike as, "Geez you're being to noisy now." said Shinohara.

"WHAT?! You're probably thinking about giving me criticism votes, aren't you, you prostitute!" Yamauchi barked back in retaliation and she grit her teeth in anger over what he just called her.

"There's no way we're going to tell you about that." said Satou.

"I knew it! Then, I'll vote for you guys too!" Yamauchi declared when, "How unsightly." Kouneji spoke up. "This special exam is focused on the next 2 years."

"And how can you be so calm about that?!" Sudou asked him.

"You don't understand Red-Hair boy. The fact that there's no penalty for this class is a good opportunity to dispose an unnecessary student, you see." Kouneji explained to the class confidently. "Like your incompetent friends, for example."

Both Ike and Yamauchi are offended as Yousuke stood up again. "Calm down guys! We need to talk this over calmly!"

"Oh how nice to be you Hirata. You never came in last." Ike sarcastically exclaimed.

"Yeah you're the safest aren't you?" Yamauchi also sarcastically exclaimed as Yousuke couldn't find a counter to this as they continued to cynically mock him. Karuizawa and Mii-chan are worried for him as, "Okay cut those sardonic crap already! I'm still taking with Kouenji you know!" Sudou called out.

"That's enough Sudou-kun." Horikita ordered as she stood up. "There's still time for us until the day to vote. Let's all think of something."

"Also just to let you know, voting without names or abstentions is not allowed." Chabashira-sensei revealed to the class. "You are also not allowed to vote for yourself or for the same person more than once. Now I know this exam is hard for you, but this is another rule set by the school. As long as you are in this school, you are expected to follow them. Understand?"

While everyone groaned about it, she has her eye on Ayanokouji who still remains emotionless ever since the Class Poll briefing began.

After classes...

"Geez this is the worst turn of events isn't it?" Haruka asked as the 5 Class C students of the Ayanokouji Clique are having coffee and discussing this exam. "The other members are discussing this exam with the rest of their classmates and they're unable to meet up with us for some refreshments."

"Isn't there any trick in this exam at all?" Akito asked.

"Adjusting the votes is the only way to go." Yukimura answered him. "So here's a suggestion, why don't we team up and vote each other?"

"You mean we write each other's names for our praise votes?" Haruka asked.

"Yeah. We won't aim to be at the top, but we should work together to avoid being in last place." Yukimura suggested.

"But is that a good idea?" Sakura asked. "Sensei said that it's useless for us to try and control the votes..."

"Even if we didn't do it, other groups certainly can and will." Yukimura replied.

"I agree with the idea of us covering for one another." Ayanokouji supported this. "I don't want any of us to go."

"Agreed." said Akito.

"Me too!" Sakura joined in.

"Then it's settled." A satisfied Yukimura exclaimed.

"We should make the first move and reach out to other students." Haruka suggested.

"No, I think it's best for us to not do anything until the exam is over." Yukimura suggested back.

"To avoid being targeted right?" Akito asked as they talked some more while Ayanokouji sipped his coffee. "In this exam, students with low class caste will be the target for the criticism votes." He then placed his coffee cup on the table. "Maybe I should a make a move too."

Later on...

At the library, Ryuuen is seen alone reading a book titled, "Discourse on Decadence" by Ango Sakaguchi.

From a distance, Ayanokouji is observing him when, "He's surprisingly calm." Horikita stated as they nodded at each other.

Down there, Ryuuen is still reading when they approached him and he felt their presence. "Well look who it is...Suzune and...your little tag along aka...Monster."

Horikita was surprised at the nickname Ryuuen gave to Ayanokouji and he still remains stoic and calm.

It now cuts to the 3 students outside the library as, "So...what do you want from me?" Ryuuen asked.

"What do you intend to do in this special exam?" Horikita asked him.

"Simple. I'm not gonna do anything." He answered.

"So you're saying you're prepared to accept expulsion?" She asked him.

"I don't know. I don't even give a damn about it." He replied calmly.

"I'm sure many people would be pleased if you're voted for expulsion." She stated. "For better or worse, you've gone too far for quite a long while before our training camp. And no one will reach out their hands to you."

"As your enemy, the best decision would be for you to crush me right here and right now." Ryuuen advised her. "Class D doesn't stand a chance of winning after I'm gone."

"You really have high self-esteem. But even so, your class got demoted to Class D because you lacked skill as a leader." Horikita stated.

"Certainly." He agreed calmly.

"And today might be the last time I'll get to speak with you, so may I ask you a question?" Horikita asked. "You're in a more hopeless situation than anyone right now. If you were to try and tackle this exam seriously, would you be able to make it without getting expelled?"

Looking up with a crafty and sinister expression, "That's a stupid question. Obviously I could." Ryuuen answered her.

"Even if you're bluffing, that's still impressive." She remarked.

"Satisfied now? Or perhaps you want me to teach you my secret plan to survive?" He asked.

"No need. If I do, I might fall prey to your trickery." She replied. "But thank you. Seeing someone who accepts reality like you makes me feel like my resolve has been prepared."

"Your resolve?" He asked and he suddenly looks serious.

"If it's inevitable that someone will be expelled, we'll just have to make the right decision to decide who deserves it." She stated.

"That might cause your class to push and shun you away." He stated back.

"Then I guess that's all I'm good for." She replied.

"Now that sounds like a bluff to me." He replied in amusement and Horikita gasped at this as Ryuuen moved closer to her. "It's cutting someone out that's the only difficult part of it."

"I can do it." She replied in firm defense. "Since I'm enrolled here, I've shown no mercy to students who drag the class down."

"Nah, you can't." He replied.

"What do you even know about me?!" She asked in slight annoyance.

"Oh I know everything about you. I can see the weakness hiding behind the words coming out of your mouth." Ryuuen stated confidently as Horikita clenched her fists a bit as he spoke on. "I also know that with your resolve, you can't even face your older brother. After all, you don't know what you must do, right?"

She stepped back a bit in fear as, "Besides, you're already trapped in a dull thing called, "Class." And Ryuuen moved nearer and closer enough to look at Horikita directly face-to-face. "There was no way you could keep yourself as calm as the sea. The only ones who can do that are me and Sakayanagi who see their classmates only as pawns." As for Ayanokouji, he just kept listening without saying anything at all.

"You talk a big game, but you really don't have a plan to get out of this don't you?" She asked back while shaking off her fear.

"Why do you think so?" He asked as he stood up straight while maintaining eye contact with her.

"Because in the end, you're already doomed to be expelled from this school." She replied.

"I'm just silently accepting it." Ryuuen then left but as he walked down the stairs, "You shouldn't waste this chance you have here." He advised her and Ayanokouji now has second thoughts about him.

I...probably...don't want Ryuuen to get expelled...(How soft he is in his mindset...)

"He sure is a bluffer. No matter how much he struggles, it's not going to stop him from getting expelled." Horikita stated to him.

"I don't know about that." Ayanokouji replied. "Maybe he really does have some way to get out of it."

"Even if he becomes a decent human, it won't lessen his criticism votes." She replied.

"Yeah. A straightforward strategy like that won't work." He agreed with her.

"Then there he has it." Horikita concluded Ryuuen's fate as she went to take her leave when, "However, he does have a point." Ayanokouji brought up.

"What do you mean?" She asked halting her steps in an instant.

"First of all, maybe you should face your brother before he graduates and disappears." He suggested.

"There's no way my brother would ever face me no matter how much I've improved on myself..." She replied and turned to face him. "The only person he's be interested in, which I don't like to say, but it's you."

Ayanokouji said nothing for a few seconds. "Then maybe that's true."

"And I don't like the way you say it." She added.

That night...

"What's wrong?" Ayanokouji asked and he's in his dorm now answering a phone call.

"For this exam, what should I be doing anyway?" Karuizawa asked and she's in her dorm sitting on her bed talking to him via the phone call. She's also hugging her bolster pillow.

"You've already started to form a group around you, right?" He asked.

"Well I've got a few people with me." She replied.

"Seems like everyone's afraid of being expelled." He replied back.

"And I honestly don't know how many people despise me either." She added.

"I wouldn't be surprised if you receive some criticism votes." He stated.

"Hey you should say it's not like that even if it's just a lie, alright?" Karuizawa corrected him as she lay on her bed.

"It's best to stay silent for a while."

"Wakata. I'll try not to provoke anything."

"Actually, the fact that you and Hirata ended your relationship may have been a positive thing for you." Ayanokouji brought up and she look surprised as she sat up on her bed. "If you are still going out with Hirata who's popular with the girls, there might have been some students who would have tried to force you to break up with him by expelling you from school."

"Whoa...that's a scary thought but it makes sense." said Karuizawa feeling a bit relived. "You should be good though, right? You don't really stand out and your grades are decently high. Oh right, who are you going to vote for Kiyotaka?"

"I plan on choosing the people who won't be useful to the class in the future." He replied.

"What? That's so cold-hearted!" She replied.

"Considering that someone would be getting expelled, it can't be helped." He stated.

"True. Say, you're not gonna vote for me won't you?" She asked.

"You're an important part of the class. There's no way I would vote for you. And likewise, those that look up to you." Ayanokouji assured to her.

"Wh-Whoa...you're right about it!" Karuizawa replied.

"As the group builds, the vote will swing heavily for reasons other than grades. If you notice anyone trying to induce the expulsion vote, let me know." Ayanokouji tasked her.

"Okay! I'll call you if I get any info about the voting." Karuizawa then ended the call as Ayanokouji did a bit of thinking.

The next day...

The time is 7:50am and Honami is waiting for a certain individual as students passed by heading to class. Soon enough, Ayanokouji can be seen passing by greeting Yousuke who's going ahead and excitedly, "Ohayo Kiyotaka!"

"Ohaya Honami." He greeted with a smile as she smiled back.

"Um...it's kinda cold today isn't it?"

"Sort of..." He replied.

"Say...do you ever want to go to school with someone...that you regard as close to you?" Honami asked shyly.

"I wish I knew." He replied.

"Then...may I walk with you?" She asked while still feeling shy.

"Sure." Ayanokouji replied and in her mindset, it was beaming in elation. "By the way, this exam might be tough for your class isn't it?"

"Well...you're right. It's probably the most difficult exam we've had so far." Honami replied.

"As I thought." He replied.

"But we have to do something right?" She stated.

"Yeah...well let me tell you something, I'm very sure your classmates won't vote for your name so easily." Ayanokouji told her.

"You think so?"

"It's written all over your face." That stunned her as she felt flustered. "Just kidding." He spoke on and she's more flustered than just now. "Also, are you willing to sacrifice yourself just to save someone?" He asked.

"Well...not exactly...I thinking that I have to fight and face the risk myself." She replied.

"Excellent...she really matured after the framing incident..." Ayanokouji thought when, "Will you be okay Kiyotaka?" Honami asked him.

"Well...I don't really know." He replied to her.

"Souka...well if ever I want to use my praise vote, I'll use it on you Kiyotaka." Honami decided.

"I'll pass. For that's a vote I do not deserve." He refused it.

"Th-That's not true! You're suppose to use your praise vote too!" She replied.

"In that case, if the time comes, I might ask for your help and in return, I'll find a way to help you if you need it." Ayanokouji assured to Honami and she felt glad that she's able to talk with him when, "How lovely to see a strong interaction between you two."

Turns out to be Sakayanagi and Kamuro is with her. Seeing Sakayanagi made Honami feel a bit fearful so she went ahead as, "Masumi-san. You go ahead while I have a word with Ayanokouji-kun."

"Wakata." Kamuro went ahead leaving just the 2 of them.

"Don't you think this supplementary exam is absolutely outrageous?" Sakayanagi asked him.

"Indeed." He replied.

"There is a reason for that. The other day, my father who's the board chairman was unexpectedly suspended from his position." She revealed to him. "Someone must be scheming in this case."

As I thought, they're already making their move here and that man is involved

"Besides, this exam is a hastily prepared exam to expel someone. You get what I'm saying right?"

"In other words, I'm the main target for the exam." Ayanokouji answered her.

"Then, we can understand the school's intention to hold this outrageous exam." Sakayanagi stated. "And therefore, I would like to save our confrontation for another time."

"Do as you please." He replied.

"Thank you very much. Now I can focus on Class A's internal affairs. Through this truce, I will not do anything to impede you in this exam." She assured to him.

"Are you sure you want to make such promise?" He asked.

"In an unlikely event that I somehow negatively impact your result and should it happen, I don't mind if I lose." Sakayanagi stated boldly. "You may even refuse to compete with me in the next special exam."

"If people focus their criticism votes on me in this exam, there won't be a next time though." Ayanokouji replied with a consequence.

"You are certainly right about that." She replied.

"And you might end up being betrayed by one of your followers before your battle with me begins." He replied back.

Smirking as she looked away, "What a joke. This exam may be outrageous but it also gave me the opportunity to get rid of a liability. The moment this exam was announced, Katsuragi Kohei has become my main target for expulsion."

"That's reasonable. I've noticed that no one except Totsuka follows him now." Ayanokouji brought up.

"Indeed. Now what are your plans for Class C?" She asked.

"I'm not getting involved." He answered her.

"Is that so?" A surprised Sakayanagi asked while flashing a cute smile. "As for Class D, the only person that comes to mind is Ryuuen-kun. But I also can't quite picture what will Class B do."

Ayanokouj said nothing as she spoke on. "To see who will be expelled from that friendly class is the most exciting part of the exam. Once it's over, let's have our match during the final special exam of our 1st year of school. That's a promise if you managed to avoid expulsion."

He can agree with her as the red man becomes green and they crossed the zebra crossing to school together.

As for Honami, she's already in school walking her way to class but is feeling worried about the exam. Because something happened to her yesterday.

(Flashback)

In the student council room, Nagumo is eating a bucket of fried chicken when Honami entered in. "You summoned me Nagumo-senpai?"

"I heard about the exam that was announced today for your batch."

"Yes...and I-"

"I know. You don't want any of your precious classmates to go right?" He asked as he stood up and walked towards her. Honami was frightened as he stood beside her and whispered something to her ear. "Go out with me...Honami."

She trembled from his words as he spoke on. "Go out with me and I'll give you the points you need to cancel the expulsion. Yes, I have a ton of them. All I need from you is an answer. It's easy isn't it?"

Honami was too frightened to reply back but still, "I'll give you the time you need to decide. After all, you have 4 days left till the exam right? However, if you don't accept my request, then I'll sorry to say this but I can't be of help to you anymore when the exam begins." Nagumo sure is cunning and resourceful as, "Call me when you made your choice. That is all and you may leave."

She was elated to leave now and good thing when she joined the student council, she's aware of his personality and abilities.

(End Flashback)

"I must protect everyone...no matter the cost!" Honami declared to herself with her own thought. What will she do now...

So begins the Class Poll with difficulties in all 4 classes. That includes some specialized changes in the scenes and dialogues with Ayanokouji, Sakayanagi and Honami followed by her conversation with Nagumo.

Now hear me out, what do you guys want to expect in the Class Poll besides Yamauchi already dead meat and Class 1-B already working on a plan to cancel the upcoming expulsion? Do you want to expect someone from Class 1-A and Class 1-D get expelled in way that it's canon to the light novel? Or do you expect a specialized result in the special exam?

Anyway, leave your answers in the reviews section and I shall see to it during my free time.
