Summer 13
I was humming happily, brushing my long hair. Last night was the best night of my life! Jack liked me back! Nothing could make me happier. And the only way my life would be ruined is if Jack broke my heart in some way. I knew he wouldn't, though; his genuine nature is what made him special!
There was a knock on my door as I jumped; awakening from my daydream.
"Yes? Come in!" I exclaimed, as my father opened my bedroom door.
"Goooood morning, Rosalind! You seem to be in good spirits this morning!"
"Oh?" I began, blushing slightly. "What makes you say that?"
"Ah, well…I overheard you humming on my way over here. You haven't done that in a while." My blush became deeper.
"I just…had a wonderfully reassuring dream last night!" I lied, I couldn't tell my father about my late night rebellious outing.
"Ah! What a coincidence! I too had a wonderful dream last night!" He walked in more, sitting on my bed.
"I had a dream about your mother. The only time I ever dream about her…is when something big is going to happen!"
"Oh?" I asked curiously, "Like what?"
"Well, one time she appeared in my dreams and said something along the lines of Alvarna is going to be in good hands. A week later, Byron and Barrett arrived in this town!" He placed his hand over his chest, where his heart lived.
"The last dream I had before this one was on New Year's Eve. She said something like Our daughter's happiness is in reach. " I blushed. New Year's Eve? That was two days before Jack's arrival!
"And the one last night…she said something I didn't understand…" My eyes widened in surprise.
"Do you mean…you couldn't hear her?" I asked.
"No, no…I heard her…but what she said didn't make sense to me."
"What did she say?"
"She said, Though life is unexpected and doesn't go as planned, it is in life that we love the hardest. Maybe I'll figure it out soon…" I pondered, that was slightly confusing!
"And…the new year's eve dream?" I asked blushing, "Do you know what mother was trying to say?"
"Yes, I believe I do!" I blushed deeper, "Ah, but I'll have to explain later! Sorry, my dear Rosalind, I'm running a bit behind schedule! I do have to meet Byron for some business matters!" He lifted himself from my bed, making his way toward my door.
"O-oh! Alright! I'll see you later, father!"
"Yes! I'll see you this evening!" He shut the door behind him. I squealed in delight. Maybe father knows how much Jack means to me! I mean with his dreams and my mother…I smiled, opening the drawer of my vanity, pulling out a portrait of my mother, setting it on the surface. I only really did this when I wanted to talk to my mother.
"Good morning, mother…it's me." I began, blushing. "Though, I'm sure you already knew that. Uh, about Jack…" I blushed deeper.
"He's wonderful, isn't he? Thank you for sending him…did you send him? Or did you just know he would be arriving and stealing my heart?" I giggled before looking down.
"I wish you were still here. I mean, I know you still are…but I wish you were still here physically. So I can hear your replies when I talk about Jack…or so I can see you looking at me proudly for every accomplishment I will achieve. I miss you." Tears began to roll down my cheeks as I kissed her portrait.
