What should have happened when Toffee destroyed magic
"Where's my daughter?"
"Where's Star?"
Toffee stared at his whole hand again for the first time in decades before turning his palm outwards and crushing the gem imbedded in it to dust before Moon's eyes. He then dumped the dust to the ground.
"She's gone."
He then turned around and walked away without looking back once.
Marco was just gasping in shock alongside Buff Frog. Moon's eyes began to stream tears down her face as her checkmarks began to fade away.
Moon then narrowed her eyes and then charged at Toffee full speed and prepared to punch him. Toffee then turned around and batted the blow to the side, along with the next few before catching the last one in his hand.
"Ow."
Both Moon and Toffee were surprised at this, looking at the hand in shock before she tried to punch him with her other hand, with him catching and wincing with the same effect as before. Both backed away with confused looks on their faces.
"How are you doing this? I heal too fast to feal pain."
Marco was also looking at Toffee in confusion, but quickly shifted his gaze to sounds of distress coming from nearby. As he turned to look, he saw Eagle worrying over a collapsed Spider, who looked to have collapsed and was unresponsive.
"Karate Boy."
He then turned over to Buff Frog, who had also collapsed to the ground. His skin was a pale complexion. "What is happening? My legs feel so weak."
Marco just looked between them all before hearing a crash in the distance. He turned to look and saw a massive collection of buildings crashing into the ground. Moon and Toffee also turned to look at it in shock.
"The Pony Heads! What is happening?"
At this it finally dawned on Marco.
"The magic is gone."
Both Moon and Toffee looked over at Marco as he was staring at them wide eyed.
"You gain your healing abilities through magic-"
"It's not magic"/"It's not magic Marco."
"He literally regrew himself around Ludo and then barfed him up in seconds. There is no biological answer for that that doesn't include magic. And now he destroyed it."
Moon's eyes widened in realization while Toffee just chuckled.
"You foolish boy. The Butterflys have been using magic to subjugate and destroy monsters for centuries. Do you really think I or any monster would use such a thing?"
Ludo then grabbed at Ludo's leg.
"Please… just tell me. Did I have any part to play in this?"
Toffee just looked at him like he was something disgusting he stepped in before turning back to Marco. "Well, any true monster."
Marco then grew a humorless smile while tears began dripping down his face. "Well then, lets test that out."
He then charged at Toffee with a war cry and attempted to punch him in face, but Toffee blocked with his right arm.
CRACK
Toffee stumbled back and grabbed his arm, gasping in pain as he examined the unnaturally bent limb. He just kept starring at it in shock as it remained in that position.
All the while, Marco just kept his slasher grin and his tears.
"Congratulations Toffee. You just doomed the monsters to extinction."
He then did a low kick at Toffee's right knee, causing it to buckle under him.
"Based on Spider and Buff Frog collapsing and having massive health issues, I'd say that magic was also letting certain species ignore laws of biology that would otherwise not let them survive. Now that it's gone, they are all either dead or dying."
Toffee tried to punch at Marco, but he just grabbed the fist and twisted the wrist sharply, breaking it and causing Toffee to give a cry of pain.
"The one's that didn't use magic like that will probably die due to not having the tricks like fire breathing, increased strength and durability, or a healing factor like you. Who knows how many would die before they figure out their powers are gone forever, and how many more will die before they adapt to living without them."
Marco then hoisted Toffee up by his suit so they were at eye level.
"And the ones that do survive and adapt? They will all be united with a common hatred of the one that brought about the end of their world. YOU!"
He then shoved Toffee back, making him land on the ground starring at Marco with panic in his eyes.
"No, this isn't possible!"
Marco just let out a mad cackle. "Not possible. Open your eyes you dumb lizard! Buff Frog is dying in front of you, Spider is dying behind you, the Pony Heads fell from the sky to your right, and you still haven't healed yet. Sure, you destroyed the Royal Wand and burned Mewni to the ground, but guess what?" he then gestured to Moon. "She is still standing and alive with no health issues beyond fading check marks. Give the Mewmans time and guidance and they will be able of rebuilding their civilization as good as before. Sure, they won't have magic anymore, but that was only ever used by the Queen to make things easier for her people. Maybe without it they will actually be more self-sufficient."
He then pulled out his Dimensional Scissors and tried to make a portal with them, which failed.
"And since these aren't working any more, that means that I am stuck here and have nothing better to do then help rebuild the kingdom."
Marco then let the scissors drop to the ground between them.
"Ironic really. The people you were trying to hurt the most with this, are the ones effected by it the least in the long run." He paused as he watched Toffee pull himself to his feet.
"Well, not that you would live to see it."
With that he pulled back his fist-
SQUISH
And punch right through where Toffee's heart would be, keeping an eye contact with him through the whole thing.
"This is for Star, you bastard."
As the life faded from Toffee's eyes, his body then slid off of his arm and landed in a heap at Marco's feet.
Marco just staired at it before finally breaking down and falling to his knees while he bawled like a newborn baby. Moon knelt down next to him and embraced him, and let herself similar break down.
They didn't know how long they stayed like that, clinging to each other like rafts in the middle of a storm before the ground around them started to rumble.
"Great, an earthquake on top of everything else today?"
Before either of them could fully process what was happening, the wand in Moon's hand started to glow and shoot into the sky, followed by the dust of the crystal Toffee shattered. Once there, the wand exploded into a collage of color, while the two halves of the crystal reformed to one once more, and the wand followed around it. afterwords, a hand emerged from the either to grab it.
"Star?"
Star herself emerged from the either behind the hand, glowing in golden light like she was made of it. Soon afterwords the horns on her headband grew ten-fold, 4 more arms grew from her sides, her checkmarks turned a bright pink, she opened her eyes to show her Omatidia eyes, and a beautiful pair of wings grew from her back as beams of light radiated outwards from her.
Marco and Moon could only stare in awe through their tear-stained eyes at her, and as such missed Buff Frog behind them regaining his color and pulling himself to his feet.
"What is happening?"
After hearing him say that, Moon and Marco turned to look at him, with Marco realizing what was happening before Moon.
"Star's bringing back the magic!"
With more looks around them, they saw it was true. Spider was picking himself up and giving Eagle a pat on the wing to show he was ok. The Pony Head city was floating up into the sky again, though still in ruins. Everywhere the light from Star touched, magic returned.
And the light touched all places on Mewni, except one.
Toffee's corps was trapped within a place of eternal shadow, denied the magic that could bring him back.
Afterwords, Star began to slowly fall to the ground. Her appearance looking more tired and less ethereal with each foot closer to the ground she fell. Once she fell onto the ground and was covered by her golden wings, she then raised her head suddenly and gasped for air fully returned to normal.
"STAR!"
She barely had time to think before Moon, Marco, and Buff Frog dog piled her in hugs.
Star could only think of one thing to say to them.
"Hi."
"Hi" they replied in time.
"Hi?"
The cuddle pile then turned to look at Ludo, standing awkwardly next to them while waving.
"Um, I know you have other things to do right now, but I just wanted to thank you for getting Toffee out of me. And to apologies for.." he then waved his hands to gesture to the entirety of the destruction "All of this."
Star only sighed. "I'm going to be honest; I have no idea how to feel about you right now."
Marco nodded his head. "Same here. This might have all been Toffee's plan, but he was mostly just pointing you in the direction and letting you do what you wanted until he could bring himself back and destroy magic."
Moon then sighed. "How about you go back to Dennis, don't attack try and steel the wand anymore, and try and figure out what you want to do with your life now. Alright?"
Ludo just sighed. "I don't think our parents will let me in the house anymore, and the castle was blown up."
Buff Frog then stood up from the cuddle pile. "Well, I have 12 kids. If you are willing to help me look after them, I can give you a place to stay."
Ludo just smiled at that before looking at Spider and Bird. "How about also a giant bird to help you get to places faster and a giant spider willing to help fishing?"
Buff Frog just smiled. "If they are ok to have a dozen babies climb all over them, then they can defently help out. It would also mean there ate 3 kids for each of us to keep an eye on instead of 6 each or 12 for one." He then patted Ludo on the back, and the 4 of them walked back into the Forest of Cetin Death, with Buff Frog waving to Star as they went.
Star tried to wave back, but found she couldn't move her arms due to Moon and Marco keeping her tightly in their grips.
"Um, guys? Can you let me go?"
"NEVER AGAIN!"
Both of them kept hugging her until Moon's eyes flashed open in panic. "Oh No!"
She then let go of them and took a few steps back before pulling out her dimensional scissors. "I need to check on something quickly."
She then made a portal and jumped into it while a song floated down from the sky
"An army of eagles with he at the helm."
I always had issues with Toffee's plan and by extinction Star's plan in Season 4. How could Toffee regrow a hole in his chest if magic was gone? How was Ponyhead even alive after magic was destroyed? We even see her entire house sitting on the clouds in Earthni, HOW COULD THAT WORK WITHOUT MAGIC?" I think either there are multiple kinds of magic that the writers didn't think to tell us about with the Realm of magic only powering the MHC and the royal wand, OR the writers honestly didn't think about it.
