Prologue
BPOV
I had married the brother of the man I loved, my father told me I had to marry the second eldest Mikaelson son so that our family honour could be restored after my sister had a baby out of wedlock, she shamed our family, mother and father could not even walk through the village now without the other villagers looking at them with pity, no-one wanted to associate with us anymore. They all knew that my new husband had been in love with my sister, but no one though knew that her child was his. That was something that Tatia had kept secret from everyone, including our parents, but I knew, she had bragged about it to me the night before my wedding to her lover. I was now lying in our marriage bed, waiting for him to come to me.
"I want you to know, Isabella, I do not love you, I do not want you at all, and I do not plan to love you," Elijah told me as he started to remove his clothing, the pain was unbearable. "Well at least I know that you were pure, clean this up before I get home. It's a shame that you are useless in our marriage bed; I might have decided to be faithful to you. But with all of that screaming, you could have had the decency to be quiet while I tried to imagine your sister on my cock. I will be with my love for the rest of the night. Do not bother me." Elijah said as I watched him clean off the evidence of my maidenhead. Mother told me that it would hurt the first time, but it would feel better as the act progressed, she said it would feel better. None of that felt good. I hurt, I knew that my new husband had left bruises on my body, he was brutal, and I knew that I would never enjoy my time in our marital bed. But at least our family's honour was restored, as I had married into a good family.
For the next few months, it was all the same, that was until I discovered that I was with child.
"Husband, the witch Ayana confirmed that I am with child, we will be starting a family of our own." I smiled as I told him. He was furious. I had thought he would have been happy. That was the first time he hit me. I ran out of our house and to my mother, I told her what happened cried on her shoulder, and told her that I was scared of going back. I told him that I was with child and scared for our baby.
"Isabella, Elijah is a good man. He would not have hit you without reason. Did you say something that made him angry?" Mother asked me. I couldn't believe that she didn't believe me. I turned and saw Tatia standing there scoffing. She was about to say something when there was a knock on the door. I watched as Father opened the door, and there stood Elijah.
"Good morning sir, I am looking for Isabella, we had a small disagreement and she ran off, have you seen her by chance?" I heard Elijah ask.
"She is here, she told her mother that you struck her, that she is with child." My father told my husband.
"She is with child? She had not informed me; I would never lay a hand on any woman, my parents raised me never to hurt a woman. No matter the reason." Elijah told my father, I could tell that father believed my husband.
"Come inside son," Father said letting my husband into the only place that I thought was safe. Elijah ran up to me, he looked as if he was worried about me.
"Isabella, my love, are you well? Your father just told me the news, you're with child, please my love forgive my stubborn self, I hate it when we argue, please will you come home," Elijah said to me, I looked to my mother, pleading with her to not let me go. She smiled at Elijah, pushing me forward into my husband. He guided me out of the house of my parents and made a show of being attentive, it made me wonder if it had all happened in my mind. Before we could get to our home, his father came up to us, asking if all was well.
"Elijah, Isabella, is all well with you both?" Mikael asked us. I looked up to my husband, before looking up at Mikael, doing my best to plead with my husband's father to help me. He looked at me for a moment. I almost thought that he was going to help me.
"Father, I was just taking Isabella home, she is not well at the moment," Elijah told his father.
"Well come, we will ask your mother for help, it will not be long before your lovely Isabella is well once more," Mikael said smiling down at me. Elijah led me to his parent's home, whispering in my ear on the way.
"If you say anything at all to any of my family or siblings I will kill you and that bastard child you carry within your womb. Do you understand me?" Elijah sneered. I nodded my understanding. Once he guided me inside his parents' home, I was faced with his parents and siblings, they all were happy to see us, they asked questions, and asked what was the matter, I just looked up at Elijah, and he answered all of their questions, Mikael tried to get to answer for myself, but Elijah would not let me answer at all. I kept my guard up the entire time we stayed with his parents, I guarded my baby, and I was unsure if I was safe with any of them. Esther noticed and asked plainly if I was with child.
I just nodded my head, confirming that I was. They all seemed happy with this news. I looked up at my husband, despite the smile on his face, his eyes were furious. He was angry with me.
Once we got back to our home, as soon as Elijah closed the door, my husband hit me once more.
"I told you not to say anything to my family, and what do you do? You tell them that you are with child. Now I have to pretend that I am happy about this abomination within your womb." Elijah told me.
The months dragged on; I ended up going into labour on the day of the winter solstice. Elijah was out hunting with his father and siblings, I knew that he was due to come back soon, and he had told me that I would be required to spend the day preparing for the solstice feast with his sister and mother; I had been preparing the vegetables for the fire, the pains of labour had been coming all day, I had released my waters not long before Elijah had to leave, he demanded that I clean it up, I told him that our child was going to be born today, I was happy about this day.
"I do not care. Clean up the mess you just made here," Elijah told me once again before he dragged me to his mother's, telling me that I was not to tell them anything, and with luck, the child would die before it was born. It had been hours and I could feel the child was starting to make its way out of my body, I could not keep quiet any longer, I fell to my knees, and my breathing increased. I heard Rebecca calling for her mother, and they both ran over to me, helping me lay on Elijah's old bed.
"Your baby is coming now. How long have you been in labour for Isabella?" Esther asked me, sounding panicked.
"It's been a few hours," I answered, I couldn't tell her that her son knew that I had gone into labour before he left to go hunting. She ordered Rebecca to place some water on to boil so that they had hot water to clean the baby, she helped me and told me when it was a good time to push to help the baby come, I could see that the sun was setting when Esther told me that I just needed one last push to be able to have my child in my arms. Rebecca had taken the water off the fire, keeping the pot close to be able to keep the water warm, but she had come over to wipe the water from my brow. When the baby finally came out we all heard the men entering the house, right as my child cried their first.
"It's a girl. You have a daughter." Esther told me, she was smiling looking over at Rebecca, I smiled, but couldn't contain my tears, I had a daughter, I looked up and saw Elijah and Mikael in the doorway, my husband looked madder than I had ever seen before. I tried to get up, but Rebecca noticed and pushed me back, telling me to stay and rest; Esther told me to push once more as hard as I could, I followed her wishes, but I couldn't take my eyes off my husband, Mikael was smiling and congratulating him on becoming a father, I felt something else coming out of me, Esther called for Mikael's knife so she could cut the cord, before she handed the baby to me.
"She has a strong voice. Elijah, come, be with your Isabella and your new daughter. Have you both thought of what she is to be named?" Esther said to him before asking us both about names.
"We talked about it and decided on Frida if we were to have a girl, we both wanted a strong name for our child," Elijah said coming to sit next to me, placing his arm around me as I started to nurse our daughter.
"I will go and get something for you to eat; I know you must be hungry after giving birth," Rebecca said, smiling at her niece. I felt Elijah tighten his hand on my shoulder,
"Thank you, Rebecca, but I am fine. I'm not that hungry and not that tired, to be honest. I can still help with the preparations for the solstice," I said smiling. My daughter had finished suckling, and Esther held her hands out, wanting to hold her. I knew that I still had to clean Esther and Mikael's floor and clean the bed I was lying on.
"Daughter, you will stay and rest; you have created life and brought us a granddaughter this solstice; Freyr has blessed our family this day," Mikael said; he had not stopped smiling at my daughter. I knew that she would be forever safe with her grandfather; he would protect her.
"I think I will take Isabella home so that she and our daughter can rest," Elijah said, I saw him starting to get up and I forced myself to follow him, I forced myself to not show how much pain I was still in from the birth.
"Elijah, let your wife rest here. She has just given birth to your daughter, so she should rest for a while," Mikael said. Elijah looked back at me expectantly.
"It is alright, I told them, standing; Esther handed me back my daughter, and Elijah led us home. I placed our daughter, Frida, in the bed that his brothers had delivered last week, covering her to keep her warm.
"You have dirtied my parent's home, you will leave with the child you bore, and tomorrow, while my family is out of their home, you will go and clean the entire home of your filth. You couldn't even prepare a meal for them without drawing their attention." Elijah told me.
"Elijah, I'm sorry, but I couldn't help when our daughter arrived," I told him; I should have known better. Our daughter started to cry, and he pushed me towards the bedroom and demanded that I take care of the child. That he was leaving. I knew that he was going to spend more time with my sister; he was with her nearly every night. I knew long ago that I would be raising my child alone; I also knew that if I didn't follow his orders tomorrow, I would feel his wrath. I knew that the Mikaelson family all left their home for chores and hunting in the morning for a few hours, so that is when I would leave and take care of their house and start cooking a meal for them all in apology for shaming their home by giving birth there.
I had finished the cleaning and I was nearly done with cooking them all lunch, when Kol and Mikael walked into the house with some meat that they had killed this morning, I had hoped to have left before they came home. I knew that they had not seen me, so I quietly took the food off the fire, placed it on the hearth and left out the back door after checking to see if it was clear. Thankfully it was, and Frida had not woken and started to cry. I was very lucky. Making my way home, I knew that I needed to clean the house and make lunch in case Elijah came home.
MPOV
I knew that Isabella was in the house and cooking lunch. I had hoped to talk to her, but I watched as she quickly left out the back door. She had fresh bruises today. I knew that I should have insisted they stay. My daughter was in no state to be moved so soon after giving birth to my granddaughter.
"Kol, can you please go and find your mother and all of your siblings? Our lunch is ready for us," I told my son. He had been so hurt when Isabella was married to his brother, as he was in love with Isabella. He still was. Once my family came inside, I played my part and thanked Esther for preparing such a lovely meal for our lunch. She looked surprised and told me and our children that she was not the one to prepare the meal. I watched as Isabella and a very ruffled-looking Elijah came into the house, apologizing for being tardy, as he was not aware that they were having lunch with us today.
"Yes, well, I figured that since we had this lovely lunch that someone made for us, we might as well all share the meal. And I am sure that Isabella was busy tending to your new daughter to have time to cook lunch for you both." I smiled at Elijah, daring him to lie to me.
"I was about to prepare our midday meal when we received your invitation," Isabella told me, covering for her husband. Not once did she look at anyone directly. I helped Esther prepare the food for everyone. I watched as Elijah made a good show of liking the meal his wife had cooked for us all, just as I noticed that Isabella did not eat one morsel of the food in front of her, but she tried.
After the meal was finished, Isabella got up and started to clear the table, Esther told her to leave it, but Isabella was insistent, as we had invited them for lunch, saying that it was the least that she could do for us. Elijah just sat there and did not even offer to take their daughter from her.
"Isabella, can I take Frida for you? I would dearly love to spend some time with my granddaughter." I asked Isabella. She looked over at Elijah before answering me. She made a choice, smiling at me she handed me her daughter. "Such a precious babe, you both must be very proud," I said to them.
"Yes, we are, I cannot believe how much she looks like her mother," Elijah said I could see his jaw tighten as he spoke to me, trying to get me to believe him. He forgets that I was there when he was born, I was there when he killed his twin sister and lied to me about how she died. I was there when he killed a single twin from several families when we arrived here in the new world. I feared that he would kill again. I had only hoped that Isabella would have been able to satiate his bloodlust.
It had been a few weeks when Isabella ran through our door with her child in her arms, begging for help for our granddaughter, Esther did all she could, but the child was dead. It was this day that we all saw the bruises on her face, neck and arms, she was too concerned with her child to care about covering them up. It was that day I learned the extent of Kol's love for his sister-in-law. As soon as Esther declared the child dead, Kol pulled her into his arms and held her while she sobbed for her child. I looked over at my wife, seeing the same look that I had seen on Elijah several times, I had to wonder if she had played a part in our grandchild's death, I was scared to think that Elijah had killed his daughter.
Elijah came to the house hours later, smiling, hay still in his hair; he noticed his crying wife, not even asking what was wrong with her.
"Who died?" Elijah uncaringly asked.
"Your daughter," Niklaus told him. He was upset at the loss of his niece. There was something wrong with Elijah; he was too uncaring. I had seen it in other men. The look on his face was that the black of his eyes was large, and his eyes were shot with blood. He had taken the battle herbs. There was no battle that the village was preparing for, so he should not have taken the battle herbs.
"Oh, I came to find Isabella. I wanted to know when she was going to make lunch." Elijah said, Isabella moved out of Kol's embrace, picked up her dead daughter and left my house, sobbing tears falling down her face.
"Your daughter is dead, and all you're worried about is if your wife is going to make your lunch?" Kol said, getting in Elijah's face.
"It's not like she won't have more children," Elijah answered.
"You heartless bastard," Kol told him, pulling his fist back and punching Elijah, never stopping; once Elijah was on the ground, Kol kept punching him, and Niklaus and I had to pull him away.
"Kol, go and calm down. Niklaus, please go with him. I'm sure that Elijah is hurt by this news." Esther said to our son. Elijah got up and left.
"Father, what was wrong with Elijah?" Rebecca asked.
"He has taken the herbs we use before going into battle," I answered her honestly.

After I left my parents' home, I wanted to kill my brother, how dare he hit me as he did. I went back into the forest where I knew that my love would be waiting for me. Once I arrived, she held out the herbs to me, taking them from her I consumed them, laying back down to be with her once again, I knew where I was able to get the herbs the men took before going into battle, and she and I took them before we made love under the trees.
"When are you going to leave my sister, I want you to be with me already," Tatia asked me.
"I will come to you soon. I have to make sure that my family does not suspect anything. The child that she bore has died, so I hope that it is not too long and I will come to you, my love." I told the beauty next to me.
"Frida had died?" Tatia asked me. I nodded, turning to kiss her. I did not want to talk about anything to do with my wife while I was with my love.
BPOV
I lost my daughter, I cried the entire afternoon, and my husband never came to comfort me, I could only guess that he went back to my sister, it was well into the night when I heard my husband coming home, he smiled like he does when he had been with her. He came to the bed, took our dead daughter out of my arms, put her roughly in her crib, and pulled me down the bed.
"Elijah, please, I can't do this tonight, please." I pleaded with him.
"I found something that I like, and you're going to give it to me; I don't care if you don't want to. You're my wife; you will do as I tell you." Elijah told me.
I woke up to hearing the birds outside, sitting up, I felt nothing up but agony, I looked down and saw blood everywhere, the memory of last night coming back to me. I cried at the pain I was still in. I felt a hand on my head, running down my hair and I screamed.
"Shh, it alright, I have you, daughter," I saw Mikael he pulled me into him he was being as gentle as he could with me. Then, I noticed that my home was full of Elijah's family.
"What, why are you here?" I asked painfully trying to cover myself. He pulled the covers up for me so that I could reach them.
"Niklaus came to collect you for breakfast; when you didn't answer, he came in and saw you covered in blood and came to get Esther and myself, fearing the worst. Esther has gone to find Elijah to ask him if he knows what happened. I panicked. If he came here and his family was here seeing me like this, I would pay with my life. They had to leave before he got home. I had to think quickly.
"It's fine, it is just my monthly bleeding, please, I am sorry that I overslept, please, I will meet you for breakfast soon," I told my father-in-law. I tried to smile to let him know that I was alright. He tightened his jaw but nodded. Told his children to leave and said that he would see me at the house in a while. I nodded and tried to smile at him warmly.
I got out of bed as best I could and cleaned myself and the bed up; throwing away the bedding, I would set it on fire before I left the house. I slowly and painfully made my way to the Mikaelson home; the entire family was there when I arrived, including my husband. I wanted to run. I didn't want to be anywhere near him. Rebecca came around and pulled out the chair next to Elijah so that I could be seated. I made my way over, trying not to show them that I was in an excruciating amount of pain. Elijah smiled at me, as I tried to sit down slowly, and grabbed the back of my dress and pulled me down roughly onto the chair, I couldn't believe how much that hurt, and I let out an involuntary whimper.
"Isabella, are you alright daughter?" Esther asked me. I nodded smiling, I would be on my best behaviour today, and with luck, Elijah wouldn't hurt me today. I just wanted to have one day where I was on the receiving end of the Mikaelson temper.
"What did you tell my family Isabella?" Elijah whispered in my ear.
"I said it was my monthly bleeding" I whispered back. So that he could hear me. I saw him nod, he kissed the side of my head and told me I did well. We sat for a while and had breakfast with his family. I was forbidden from ever calling them my family. When Elijah decided that it was time for us to leave, he told me to go on ahead of him, and that he would not be long, I nodded and got up slowly. Trying to walk out without anyone becoming suspicious. Once home, I thought I had done well. But I would soon find out once my husband returned home. It was not long before he returned.
"I will be spending the rest of the day and tonight with Tatia, do what you please," Elijah told me before he walked out. I was free for the night. He was next to me when we buried our daughter, I heard from Niklaus, not long after, that he had witnessed Elijah having sex with Tatia, he told me that he was ashamed that he stayed and watched them; I cried that night. I saw several of the young women around the village looking at me with pity and overheard one of them telling her friend that it was so sad that I could not keep my husband happy that he had to go and find satisfaction with my sister. I ran home that day and refusing to leave me home.
Elijah had not been home in a few days, he would come back once a week, and when he came home one night, I informed him that I was once again with child. And once again he was not happy about it. Once I told him that, he started to make a show of leaving the house out the back door to see my sister, I wanted to scoff, I knew that she was sleeping with other men from the village beside my husband, and she was bragging about it to any who listened. I knew when she got in my sister-in-law's ear, Rebecca started to become overly harsh toward me. I knew then that she was believing what lies Tatia was spinning. Elijah came back to our home not long before I was to go into labour. I had to wonder then why it was that he was at home more often.
I overheard from some of the women in the village that Tatia had accepted a marriage purpose from a young man from two villages away. He was home because he felt rejected by my sister. It just so happened that at the time he was home, the waters broke, I had been having pains all day, and it was unfortunate when he noticed. He changed and went to get his mother to attend the birth.
The baby came faster this time, I didn't spend hours in labour, like the first time, the baby was arriving by the time Esther came to help me. She arrived in time to see the child getting pushed from my body.
"Isabella, oh my, this babe was in a rush to meet us," Esther said smiling, she told me to push once again, and I expelled the sack of my womb. "Well, you have a son. Congratulations." It was a few hours later, and Esther was still here, her family had arrived not long ago, and the sun had risen in the sky. Elijah looked to be getting restless, he took my son from me after I finished feeding him, looking over at this family, and I watched as he took my son over to the window facing the forest. A few minutes later, Elijah told us all that his son, had fallen asleep, and that he thought it best that we spend some time alone with our new child. I watched as his family left, Mikael looked at him suspiciously, before asking me if I was alright, I nodded, telling him thank you for coming by to see our son. Once they all left Elijah turned to me.
"The boy child will be called Tyr," Elijah told me. I nodded, it was not a name I would want for my son, but it was not like I had a choice about it. "Get some rest, I will watch the child," Elijah told me. I couldn't help but be suspicious, he never helped me at all. Why would he start now? he glared at me, daring me to defy him. I nodded and moved so that I could change the bed linens before I lay down to rest. Elijah just walked around our home with our son in his arms.
I woke sometime later, Elijah was nowhere to be found, and my son was in his cot, I would have thought that he would have cried by now, I went to pick him up, pulling my hand back faster than I had ever done, my son was cold. I placed my fingers over his mouth and nose to see if he was breathing, there was no breath coming from him. I don't remember much of what happened next, I heard someone screaming out, and I had to wonder where it was coming from, Kol and Mikael ran into the house, Mikael took one look at my son, and I saw him ask Kol something but did not hear the words. The screaming stopped when Kol, pulled me into his arms. I watched as Mikael left, coming back a few minutes later with Esther, Elijah following behind her, he looked emotionless. I knew in that second that he had done something to my son. Kol took me out of the house, I heard the low growl in his chest, he was telling his family something, Elijah was not pleased about it but didn't say anything.
I watched as Kol looked at me, his hands on either side of my face, he was talking to me but I couldn't understand what he was saying.
"Isa, …" a voice called. I couldn't, I pulled away from Kol and ran, I couldn't be around this place right now. Not long after I left, I felt myself getting pulled sharply, and I knew that it was Elijah.
"You will stop this now, I cannot have my wife running away like this," Elijah told me, in a moment of weakness, I launched myself toward my husband and kissed him, I needed to know once and for all if he could feel anything for me, Elijah pulled me back, looking at me like I was mad before he pulled me back and kissed me in return, that day was the first that I felt wanted by Elijah, and I felt that I could fall in love with my husband.
"We need to return to the house, I am sorry that you have lost another child, Isabella," Elijah told me, he was gentle he showed me that he could be caring.
"I'm sorry too. We both lost another child." I told him, he looked at my mouth and kissed me once again. This was the most love I had felt from Elijah. He led me back to the house, where his family were still. They all told us how sorry they were, Esther told us she was sorry that she was not able to tell that the child would not survive. They all came up to the both of us, Mikael had wrapped my son, getting him ready for burial. As it was the hot months my son would need to be buried soon, to stop the animals from coming. Once my son was buried, Elijah spent time just holding me, letting me cry. I felt it when he changed back to the Elijah that I knew. He shoved me away.
"I have shown you that I can care, do not expect it again. But know that all of this is your fault. I never wanted children with you. All children that come from your womb are cursed. And I want you to remember something else, you are nothing to me, or my family, they pity you. They only allowed you to marry me because they felt sorry for your family. And you proved that you are nothing but a mistake; after all, none of your children can even stay alive." Elijah told me that with each word he said, he hurt me even more. He got up and left.
I knew that he was back seeing Tatia. My mother told me that her husband left her, and his family banished her from the village, so she had no choice but to come back to our parents.
KPOV
I heard Rebecca talking to Tatia once she returned, that Isa and Elijah had lost their second child. Tatia just scoffed and told my sister that it was Isa's fault for not being able to keep her husband happy in their marriage. I saw that Rebecca believed the whore.
"At least Elijah has one child who lived past birth. My sister cannot even keep her children alive," Tatia told Rebecca.
So, her son belonged to Elijah. I walked away and went to find my father. Once I had, I told him what I had overheard.
"I had suspicions that was the case," Father told me. "Keep this to yourself for the time being. Isabella has felt enough pain since she married your brother." Father asked me. I nodded, happy to keep this to myself for the time.
Father confronted Elijah about what I told him. My brother didn't deny it; he just smirked and told our father that at least he was able to father an heir; his wife was unable to even give him a living child. That made Father furious. He banished Elijah from the village and told him to get what he needed and to leave. Elijah just told him that he would get Isabella to pack up their belongings.
"No, you and you alone are the only ones banished. Isabella is staying here," Father told Elijah. He even told me to come with him, and together, we followed him to his home and watched as he packed some clothes. He whispered something to Isa, and we watched as she nodded. It did not go unnoticed that Tatia was no longer in town.
Four months later, the weather was starting to get colder, I noticed that Isa's belly had grown, she was once again with child. But she looked happy, her skin was no longer coloured by bruises, and she smiled, and it was genuine. I watched her from afar, and before long, she stopped coming into the marketplace, I collected mother and took her to Isa's home, to find her in labour on her kitchen floor. Mother, told me to go and retrieve Rebecca so that she could help her. I ran as fast as I could to tell Rebecca our mother needed her help.
A few hours later, we all waited around the backyard, tending to the animals, when we all heard the sound of a baby crying. Rebecca came out a few moments later and told us we could come inside, I watched my father, he looked wary, and I could understand why he did so. But I had a feeling that this would be different. Mainly because the child's father was no longer here.
We spent the next few months watching our nephew grow, which told me that it was Elijah being here that cursed their first two children. Isa had named her son Fenrir, it was a strong name. We lived in peace for a few years before tragedy once again struck in our family, but it was not Isa or her son; Henrik convinced Niklaus to go with him to watch the wolves change back to men on the full moon, and he ended up losing his life, father blamed Niklaus for Henrik's death, but it was not his fault that he went to keep his brother safe. There were always moments when one of us would do something wrong, and Niklaus would get the blame for it. Even if our brother was nowhere near us at the time of the incident.
After this happened, I overheard Father telling Mother to find a way to make his children stronger than the wolves, we all gathered for dinner one night, and Father asked Isa to join us, he had even asked Isa's mother to watch her grandson, as he had some things he needed to talk with Isa about. She happily watched the child. That night we all ate dinner and drank mead that tasted strange before Father ran us all through with his sword. I woke to look down to see my clothing covered in blood, and one of the local village girls standing before us all, father standing there telling us that we needed to feed from the young woman.
Letting Isa drink first, as I knew that she would want to return to Fenrir before she left, Mother handed us all rings, telling us that we needed to wear them at all times. Isa nodded and left to go to her son. I watched from the door, as Isa asked her son to let her in, telling him it was a game only for the two of them, my nephew was smart, he invited his mother inside, I heard her telling her mother that she was able to leave.
One night I heard Mother and Father arguing, father had found out that Mother had sent a vile of the potion to Elijah just after she changed us, with instructions on how to use it and what to do. I was rather mad at this as well. Father told her to make one more vile and to turn him as well. I wanted to go and inform Isa, but I wasn't sure if I should, after all, she was happy with Elijah gone.
It was some years later, we all were celebrating Fenrir's marriage to a lovely young girl, she was from one of the neighbouring villages, that had brokered a deal with Isa. She in turn asked for father's help in brokering the deal, after all, she only wanted her son to be happy. Once the marriage was complete, the couple seemed to be happy. I was glad that Isa's son had found happiness. We didn't have to wait long for news of her being with the child, and a few months later, young Astrid was giving birth to their first child on none other than the winter solstice, and the arrival of the child brought another arrival.
Elijah returned with Tatia on his arm. She looked older, he looked the same as the day he left when father banished him.
"What are you doing here, Elijah?" I asked my brother,
"I heard that Isa had another son, and I came to see the child and ask who the father is," Elijah said,
"Yes, she had a son and now your son is married and welcoming the birth of their first child, right now. She is very proud of Fenrir; he has grown to have a good life. And what have you done all these years, brother?" I asked him; he looked furious,
"Why was I not told of this earlier?" Elijah growled at me.
"Because your wife deserved to be happy," I told him before I walked away from him, I saw that Father had seen Elijah and was walking towards us, as I started to walk away. Isa came out not long after letting us know that Fenrir had a son, she had not stopped smiling, since young Astrid went into labour. That was until she saw Elijah and Father talking. Tatia walked up to Isa and looked furious.
"How are you still looking this young? Esther could not have used a potion on you; after all, you're nothing to her family," Tatia said, not realizing that we could all hear her. I heard Rebecca laugh, just as I heard Niklaus growl at our sister for laughing at such harsh comments to our sister.
"Isabella is not our family, yes she was married to Elijah for a time, but she is not family," Rebecca told our brother.
"Sister, well, at least I did not shame my family by having a child out of wedlock, with your sister's husband no less." Tatia looked shocked that Isa knew about that. "Did you forget that you bragged to me about that?" Isa said before pushing Tatia away from her family. Elijah was by her side in a second, not realizing that Niklaus, Father, Finn, and I would defend Isa.
"Elijah, it's good to see you back. I didn't know where to find you, but we had a son. I named him Fenrir. He was married on the last winter solstice, and today, he and Astrid, his wife, welcome their first son, a boy." Isa interrupted.
"A boy that my wife and I named, Erik, I take it you are my father," Fenrir said, looking at his father, not looking too impressed at what he saw. "Mother, Astrid is asking for you," Fenrir said to his mother, kissing her on the cheek. We watched as she walked into their home, Elijah tried to follow but since he had not been invited in he was unable to enter. I couldn't help but smile at that.
"Son, I would like to come in and see my grandson if you please," Elijah said, calling out to his son.
We all heard Isa telling him it was up to him and Astrid if they welcomed his father in. A few moments later, Fenrir was standing just inside the door holding his son.
"You can see perfectly well from where you are, that this is my son, now, if you would please leave, my wife is tired and needs her rest, after all, she has just worked very hard to bring my son into the world," Fenrir said, towards his father. He walked away towards his wife and mother. "Mother, can you give Astrid some blood so that she can heal? I do not wish her to be in any pain." Fenrir asked his mother.
"Of course Fen, but only if she wishes it." I heard Isa saying.
"Please Mother, if it is alright, would you help me heal?" Astrid asked. I heard the crunch of Isa's teeth breaking the skin of her wrist.
Elijah decided that he would stay around and moved back in with his wife, much to the dislike of Tatia, who tried her best to get Elijah to find a home with her. I just laughed when we heard her tantrum.
Things went by as smoothly as we expected, but with our enhanced hearing, we all heard Elijah berating Isa about not telling him about their son. Not once did we hear Isa say anything to Elijah about it. They went away a few times, we all thought that it was so they could reunite, but each time Elijah came back not many of which, Isa came back with him. A few times I witnessed her coming back naked, and limping, with bruises covering her body.
"Kol, leave them be. They are married and have been separated for a few years. There are bound to be some problems on her husband's return," my Mother told me. I couldn't stay here and watch her husband hurt her. When I woke the following day, I packed my things and said goodbye to my family, telling them I was going to go and see what life had to offer me.

Elijah came back and I had hope that he had changed once I saw he was also a vampire. But in reality, it made him worse. He was more violent, he snapped my neck, killing me. This happened for a few years, Kol ended up leaving not long after Elijah returned and Erik was born. I came back home after waking from death, to find my son, lying dead on my kitchen floor, Elijah sitting there, like there was nothing wrong.
"When I returned, I discovered Fenrir lying here dead. Someone must have killed him." Elijah told me, did he forget that I could smell the scents in the room just as well as he could? There had been no other in here. Other than Elijah, Fenrir and myself. I looked over at my husband, walked to my room and began to clean myself up, I needed to get dressed as well. I had a feeling something would happen, I had asked Fen to send his wife and son away to her village, telling him that they were not safe with his father back here, unwillingly he followed my advice, and the two of them fled with Mikael's help while Elijah was away, I had heard a few days ago that Erik was doing well and growing as he should be, but Astrid missed her husband and Erik missed his father.
I waited for Elijah to leave on one of his trips the night after, and I buried my son in a secret location. I had watched as he took Tatia out with him, I didn't wait for him to come home, and I left this village in the middle of the night, swearing to myself that I would never return.
