I can't even tell you how long it's been since I last wrote a Super Smash Bros. fic, but I recently got some inspiration and I just had to write this one up.

The two wolves stared each other down, ready for the next move to be played. Who would be the victor in this battle of wit and skill?

"And with that we have another tie," said the Hylian hero as he placed down his final card.

The ex-SOLDIER narrowed his eyes at the board between them before looking back at his opponent. "I want a rematch."

"Cloud, every time we play Queen's Blood, we tie. It might best to just call it quits," stated Link.

"Not until I win."

Link just rolled his eyes at that as he grabbed his cards and shuffled them, with Cloud doing the same with his deck. As they shuffled their cards, they were stopped when a piece of paper was slammed down between them. Looking up to see who slammed the paper down, they found it to be the resident space bounty hunter Samus and standing next to her was the former STARS member Jill Valentine.

"…Is there something we can help you with, Samus?" asked Link, knowing full well that she was upset with something.

"Read it," she replied.

Not wanting to upset her even further, he picked up the paper and read it. "Oh, the World Video Game Hall of Fame posted the nominees for this year."

"It's that time of year already?" questioned Cloud, with a raised eyebrow.

"Damn right it is and my game has been nominated again! I plan to win!" declared Samus with conviction.

"And if you don't win?" asked Link.

"I'm going to win," Samus growled out. "I should have one the last time my game was nominated! Bad enough that some stupid bimbo got in before me."

Link let out a sigh. "Samus, even you have to admit it would have been odd if Peach didn't get in first."

"Not her! I'm talking about that stupid whore Barbie!" snapped the bounty hunter. She then scowled. "Stupid slut. She's not even a video game character!"

The other three could only stare at the ranting woman with blank looks before the two men turned to Jill.

"I'm guessing your game was nominated as well?" asked Cloud.

"It was," replied the brunette with a nod. "I have a good feeling this year since it's the third time my game has been nominated."

"You both have a good chance," said Link, looking over the paper again. "If I'm reading this right, the Hall of Fame will be going back to inducting six games instead of four like they've been doing since their third year of operations."

"I better get in! I'm pretty much Nintendo's first leading lady! I'm just as important as you, Mario, and Donkey Kong, so I know I've earned my place as a video game icon, damn it!" declared Samus, punching her fist into the palm of her other hand.

"We know that, Samus, but we're just going to have to wait until they declare the winners," replied Jill, trying to calm the other woman down. "We're also going to have to have faith in our fans to vote for our games."

Hearing this, Samus nodded. "Right, right, our fans. I know I have them in spades! They might Rule 34 the hell out of me, but they do exist, so I'll have to rely on them to vote me in."

"That's all we can ask for," added Jill with a sigh.

Samus then turned back towards the two men and pointed at them. "You two better save me a spot at the VIP mansion! When I get there, I'm going to show Croft and Sandiego who the real top bitch is!"

With that, Samus turned around and made her way out of the room. Once she was gone, Jill turned to Link with a simple question on her mind.

"Has she always been like this?"

"When you have a game drought as long as she had a few years ago, you start thinking that you're unwanted. This is just Samus' way to hide her insecurities," explained Link with a sigh.

"Well she did get some new games in recent years," said Cloud with a slight shrug. "Maybe if she did get inducted it would help her even more."

They could only hope.

It's that time of year again when the World Video Game Hall of Fame has announced the nominees for the Class of 2024. Not only have Metroid and Resident Evil been nominated, but other nominees this year include Asteroids, Elite, Guitar Hero, Myst, Neopets, SimCity, Tokimeki Memorial, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Ultima, and You Don't Know Jack. Like every year, the public is allowed to vote on which game they want inducted into the HoF, with the three games that get the most public votes will go on to the main ballot.

So if you want to vote for your favorite game from the list of nominees, head on over to the World Video Game Hall of Fame's website (either through Google or Wikipedia for a quick shortcut) and cast your vote every day until March 21. You can also cast multiple votes if you have multiple devices (i.e. you can vote once on your computer and vote again on your phone and it will count). Let's get Metroid the recognition that it truly deserves!
