Chapter 1

Death of a Hero

"What's happened to you, Charlie. What happened to your cool and calm demeanor?" Guile, a member of the US Military, was trying to prevent his friend from leaving the camp. The camp was located in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, South America, where there had been rumors of the criminal organization Shadaloo being sighted in the canyon planning something. Not wanting M. Bison to escape, Guile's friend and superior officer in the same Air Force unit as him, Charlie Nash, first lieutenant, had came up with a decision that would bring unrest to the troops in the camp. "If you do this alone, you're not coming back," Guile continued, as Charlie stared at him with a blank expression. "Charlie, please, let me help."

"No," replied Charlie calmly, "you have a family to go home to. Don't worry, I'll come back alive."

"Charlie..."

"I'll leave you to assure the troops. But if I don't return, be sure to do a toast in my memory."

"I will..."

"Farewell, Guile," said Guile before exiting the camp.

"If Genral Byron heard of this, he'd have him suspended," Guile said to himself.

At a nearby air field, a helicopter's engine was switched on. "Nash, are you off to fight Bison yet," asked the pilot via transponder snail.

"I'm on my way to Bison's current location now," replied Charlie. "Be sure to arrive at my location in five minutes."

Just then, a red dot appeared on the radar, resembling Charlie walking in a straight line. "I'm getting your location on the radar now," said the pilot.

"Good," replied Nash, "But remember, get to the location in five minutes. Charlie Nash, out." Then the pilot's transponder snail's eyes shut, ending the call.

The pilot put in a different number on his snail and its eyes opened again. Its face changed too. "Charlie Nash is pursuing you."

"Thank you for the warning, but I was expecting someone from the US military to face me at some point," said the voice on the other end. "Follow the Lieutenant's orders for now. But when I give you the signal, you know what you have to do?"

"Yes."

"Good. Do not fail me."

"We won't, Lord Bison," assured the pilot, switching off his transponder snail for a second time. Then he took hold of the controls and took flight.

Charlie Nash meanwhile was tracking M. Bison's location through his phone, which came up as a purple dot. "Found you, Bison," he said, rushing to the location post haste. He began to have flashbacks of the times he was with his friend back at the camp (especially his friend Guile).

Training Guile in the use of his special moves.

"One more time!" Demanded Guile.

"You shouldn't get so heated," said Charlie. "In the battlefield, staying in control means survival. Keep a clear head and think, or else one day you don't go home."

"Yeah, I know. Keep the heart hot, but the mind cool, right?"

"Exactly."

Rallying the soldiers every time they needed a boost for victory.

"I can sense the fear in all of your eyes," he said before going to capture a warehouse under the control of Shadaloo. "You are afraid that you won't come back to see your loved ones? Worried that you'll fall victim to M. Bison's Psycho Power? Or you're afraid that we'll be lead into a trap? All those are all in your head, ignore them! As long as you are under my unit, none of you will die! So I'm gonna ask you now: Are you in, or out?!"

Hearing Nash's assurance made the soldiers forget their worries and cheered.

"Those soldiers really look up to you, huh," asked Guile.

"They are like a second family to me," smiled Charlie. "It is my duty to make sure that they get to see another sunrise, as well as their families."

And throwing parties after a successful victory.

"Bring out the booze," he called. "This is to celebrate pushing back Shadaloo's forces!"

"Yaaaaay!" Cheered the soldiers. They rushed to the cooler and pulled out bottle upon bottle of whiskey or beer. One soldier tossed a bottle of beer to Nash, which he caught.

"General Byron must be proud to promote you to first Lieutenant," said Guile.

"And I'm proud that I've got a friend to fight Shadaloo alongside," agreed Charlie, clinging glasses with Guile. "To our friendship."

"To our friendship," chuckled Guile.

"The bonds that I have forged within the Air Force, that is what I fight for," thought Charlie after reminiscing on those memories. "I have made a lot of friends in that camp, some of which I took in after being crippled by Shadaloo soldiers. But my friend Guile, he's different. At first, he was hot headed like any rookie, but after time, he calmed down. I taught him my moves: Sonic Boom, Sonic Somersault, Sonic Hurricane, he is like a student to me, as well as my friend. Guile, if I die in this fight, I'll make you First Lieutenant of my unit." Nash approached a cliff, with a large waterfall around it. There, standing on the edge and turning to face him, was M. Bison, the leader of Shadaloo. He used his Psycho Power to teleport in front of Charlie. Charlie swung his left leg at him, but he teleported away.

"Heh, so much for being calm and collected," taunted M. Bison.

"So we finally meet, Bison," said Charlie.

"Well, well... The appearance of the brave man of justice from the American military. Do you really think that a Lieutenant like you can best me? You should've brought an army."

"This one can," said Charlie Nash, getting into a fighting pose. "And I'm more than enough."

"Cocky and reckless, that's what describes you the most."

"Lord Bison commander of Shadaloo, you're under arrest," threatened Nash. "You'll be questioned one the evac helicopter gets here in five minutes."

"Stupid fool, he has no idea," thought M. Bison. But he said, "Interesting, enjoy this time, as it will be the very last five minutes of your life."

Charlie Nash adjusted his glasses. "General Byron has said I should bring you in alive for questioning," he said. "As much as I want to kill you, I must obey my superiors. Here I come, Bison!" He rushed at him but M. Bison teleported in front of him and kneed him in the stomach. He then covered his hands in Psycho Power and punched him, knocking Charlie back. Charlie swung his arm. "Sonic Boom!" He fired a spinning crescent shaped wave but M. Bison extended his hand and absorbed the attack. "What the," exclaimed Nash. "He nullified my Sonic Boom!?"

"How about you get a taste of your own attack, Psycho Power infused," smirked Bison. He fired a purple version of the Sonic Boom at Nash, hitting him in the face.

"Damn, is his Psycho Power really that strong," groaned Charlie.

"What's wrong, has five minutes gone by already," asked M. Bison.

"Not done yet," snarled Nash. "Sonic Break!" He began to fire multiple Sonic Booms, but M. Bison extended his arm again. M. Bison absorbed five Sonic Booms before he noticed Nash's arms. "You're wide open," said Charlie Nash. Then he formed his arms into a cross and shouted, "Sonic Hurricane!" M. Bison was in the middle of a large Sonic Boom, which slashed him multiple times. M. Bison fell to the ground.

Charlie Nash rushed at him, grabbed him by the neck and suplexed him back to the ground. M. Bison teleported away, while surrounding his body in Psycho Power. "Psycho Crusher!" He spiralled through the air, but Charlie dodged the attack.

"I will get info from you or die trying," said Charlie.

"My Psycho Power knows no limits!" Yelled M. Bison. "Psycho Shot!" M. Bison threw a ball of Psycho Power at him.

Charlie Nash dodged the attack and fired a Sonic Boom at him, stunning him. "Got you," said Nash. Then he rushed towards him. "Crossfire Blitz!" He began punching and kicking Bison before finishing with a roundhouse kick that knocked Bison to the ground. After adjusting his glasses, he spoke to him. "So much for not having limits."

"Humph," grunted Bison.

"Now get up," ordered Charlie. "Tell me everything you know. What's the connection between you, your organization and the military's top brass?"

In the distance the sound of the whirling of a helicopter could be heard. The noise got louder as the helicopter got closer.

M. Bison stood up and smirked.

"Talk!" Demanded Charlie. He fell the wind from the helicopter from over head. "Here comes the evac chopper, we'll continue your interrogation when we get to headquarters in America."

"Gullible," smirked M. Bison, extending his arm.

The pilot knew that it was the signal and began to fire bullets at Charlie from the turret, which went through him. Charlie turned around and saw smoke coming from the gun on the helicopter. "What, they betrayed me, why..." he gagged, coughing up blood. His dog tag medallion dropped to the ground.

"Told you, Charlie Nash. Told you, you should've brought an army," said Bison, throwing a punch at Charlie's chest, giving him a large gaping hole in the middle of his body. Then he threw him into the ravine below.

"Noooooooooooooooo!" Screamed Charlie as he fell.

The helicopter landed on the ground and the pilot switched off the engine. Several soldiers stepped out along with the pilot.

"Lord Bison, shall we conduct a search for Charlie Nash, in case he is not dead," asked the general.

"No need," replied M. Bison. "No one would survive those attacks along with that fall. Even if he did, he will only have five minutes to live, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"

Meanwhile, Charlie Nash's body had reached to the bottom of the ravine. His glasses shattered upon impact, with a puddle of blood forming around him. He had a large hole in his chest and had dislocated his right arm. "Why, why did my own soldiers betray me," he thought. "Was I not worthy as First Lieutenant?" He weakly raised his arm towards the sky as he felt himself at Death's Door, "Sorry, General Byron, I've failed the mission." Then he started tearing up as he saw a vision of his friend Guile in the sky. "Guile, guess I'm not coming back from this one."

The last thing he saw was an American eagle flying overhead, screeching so loud that it could be heard miles upon miles away. Charlie Nash smiled. "I leave the rest to you, Guile," he gagged. Slowly, he shut his eyes. Thus, the tragic story of Charlie Nash came to an end... Or has it?
