Izuku for the first time in a long time didn't move when he woke up, laying in his bed and only turned around to stare at the ceiling of his bedroom.

He blankly stared at the same pale ceiling; it was the same one that had been over his head for as long as he could remember before he started traveling.

The overly familiar color bringing him only a minor sense of comfort.

Because in the back of his mind, Izuku's thoughts were on the meeting yesterday.

Of how he had his childhood dream within arm's reach.

And then how he tossed it away.

He hadn't let himself think much on it yesterday, beyond that it was far too risky for him to take the quirk in the first place.

And once he was home, he got jumped by his mom and friends congratulations.

Which was overwhelming but he was able to keep his mind occupied with explaining to them about why he was the umpire and apologized for not telling them about the sudden change of plans.

So, he hadn't really gotten the chance to… mourn he guessed.

His dream had always been unachievable before, it wasn't like he could just suddenly get a quirk randomly and become a hero with there being no schools wanting to accept two-toes into their hero courses.

Only for the means to make that impossible dream real to fall right into his lap and become a genuine possibility for him.

So now he had something he was choosing to give up for real this time instead of the far-fetched fantasy from when he was so young.

Logically that meant he'd need to mourn for this all over again.

Izuku grumbled, taking his pillow out from under his head and covered his face so he could, very quietly, scream into it because he was frustrated.

Why was it so hard for him to get over this?

It was just a stupid old dream of his, people got over them all the time so why couldn't he?

Hearing his phone chime with the first alarm of the day Izuku forced himself to get up and ready for the day.

His students needed him, and he couldn't spend the day laying about, he had a routine to keep to.

Izuku showered and when he was done with brushing his hair he made a note of getting it cut soon, it was becoming less manageable and it would do with a trim.

Leaving the bathroom, he walked into the kitchen and saw his mom wasn't the one up yet and cooking, but Twice and Izuku had to pause for a second until he remembered that his mom had insisted on Twice and Scamp staying the night.

And now Twice, with his mask still on and Scamp watching with his paws on the cupboards to get a better look at the veggies and meat Twice was making.

Izuku, despite the turmoil, couldn't help a small smile as he watched the domestic scene. The fact that Twice had been able to go so far from when they met back then to now warmed him.

The man hunched over himself, twitching, mind attacking itself and so desperate that he'd been willing to do whatever Izuku asked of him.

And now Twice was so much calmer, his other voice only taking his words from him once in a while and almost glowing from how much happier he was day to day.

Izuku wasn't able to muse on it for long as Scamp noticed to him and he rushed over to him, putting his paws on Izuku's legs smiling with his tongue hanging out of his mouth from his overexcitement, tail wagging a mile-a-minute.

Of course, Izuku had to chuckle and scratch behind Scamp's ears just as he had last night, the pup just relishing in how much attention he was getting.

"Oh, hey Bossman! Good morning, hope you don't mind me taking some stuff to make us all breakfast." Twice said having noticed the whole thing going down.

Izuku chuckled and picked Scamp up in his arms and letting the pup lick at his face.

"It's fine Twice, and it smells really good." Izuku assured the man as he walked over to glance what was in the pan.

"I'm glad, Inko-San taught me how to make this once and I wasn't sure I'd remember how to cook it right." Twice explained as he stirred the contents of the pan.

Izuku nodded "You've done it right so far, just be careful not to grab anything with the red band on it, it has capsaicin extract or powder mixed in." Izuku warned before heading to sit down at the table, letting Scamp down before he sat in his chair.

"Ah, I'll remember that." Twice promised with a nod before a thought came to him "Oh! I brewed up some of the tea I found in a bag if you want some." Twice told him.

Izuku blinked but decided to get himself a cup in the hopes it would help him wake up some more, but he knew that it wouldn't after the first sip.

It was one of his mom's teas, and while they might be stronger than the average tea for a quirked person Izuku knew that it wouldn't really register for a two-toes like him.

He'd sooner get a sugar high with a bag of candy then get much caffeine from a whole kettle.

There was still no point in dumping his cup; it was at least one of the flavors he liked, so he wouldn't mind drinking it.

And as he sipped at his cup, Izuku's thoughts again drifted to what they talked about during the meeting.

Finding someone to take Inheritance was certainly going to be a harder task than his usual analysis for people.

There were only a few holders he did know of for certain, like Shimura and the brother, aside from Yagi himself.

He'd need to check out the other quirks to get a better idea of who to give it to next.

Yagi, as far as he knew, only used the given strength quirk.

And from what he could tell, it seemed like strength enhancement probably had its multiplication factor based on either being passed or the number of quirks the person had.

Otherwise, the strength one person gathered in the quirk would have been lost, and if it was another factor, then the strength gathered over the centuries would be far too much for anyone, even a two-toes, to handle.

Izuku wasn't sure which was more likely, though. There wouldn't be a way for him to check the strength of each of the past users and the ninth.

As for Shimura's quirk he was able to gather way more from before and after the time she got the quirk, courtesy of Haruki-San and Nezu giving him footage and accounts of Haruki-San training Shimura.

Float was a simple emitter quirk allowing the user the ability to manipulate their body's magnetic charge and 'push' off from the earth.

Shimura had been able to find a way to 'push' off in a way that would let her 'jump' in different directions instead of just hovering up in a straight line.

Shimura also notably had a reinforced skeleton, according to her medical files, which allowed her to fall from higher places without hurting herself, though it wasn't a large enough difference for it to be considered 'notable'.

After getting Inheritance, though, Shimura was able to further manipulate her magnetism in order to actually fly instead of gliding as she had before; her skeleton likely was also further reinforced since she was able to 'fall' from further up than she would before.

So, there was a clear difference in the wielder's original quirk abilities when Inheritance was given to someone.

The exact difference, though, would have to be observed when passed on to the ninth since Yagi didn't have one to look at, and he wasn't sure if Yagi would be able to converse with the others if he was actually cut off from them.

For now, though, he'd need to just to add the changes that he currently had from the three quirks he knew of.

Shimura's requirements were the easiest: an increase in calcium for the bones and iron for the magnetism manipulation.

More proteins for building muscle would be needed for the strength quirk.

Unfortunately, it would be the brother's quirk that would be the most dangerous and the hardest to counterbalance.

For all the advancements made through quirks in the medical field, brain tissue was unable to be fixed in a meaningful way or properly find a way to improve their brain's health beyond what was known back before the dawn of quirks.

The biggest reason for that being quite obvious.

Unlike before, if you weren't a two-toes, then every human's brain was vastly different from any other person's on the planet.

The rapid evolutions of quirks has caused people to become a bunch of different subspecies of human, each with their own differences to better serve their quirks.

Such as the larger broca's areas in a brain with quirks related to speech or making sound, and the Auditory area would be large in quirks with a hearing factor of some sort, and animal mutations would make the brain look more like the animal they represented.

So efforts to better understand the human brain were much harder because it was impossible to have a truthy universal study.

A drug for balancing one's hormones might only work on emitters and wreck someone with a mutant quirk.

At least most people in the medical field understood this and they had different branches of medicine for each quirk type to deal with those issues, with the mutations being even further divided by the kind of mutation.

And as much as he would like to believe that the brother had a bit of protection for the brain it most likely didn't.

The brother was described to have been suffering from a long-term and undiagnosed illness, in truth this was probably his body rejecting his quirk, the symptoms were clear enough looking at the others that suffered from old-world quirks.

While most old-world quirks were benign on their own, there were a few that weren't.

The symptoms looked like that of an autoimmune disorder, with the body rejecting the quirk because the quirk had a function that couldn't be satisfied and, in the brother's case, a neglected need to pass his quirk on to someone else.

Not that he could have possibly known about his quirk or Inheritance's need to be passed along.

A hand being waved in front of his face brought him out of his thoughts, and Izuku was startled and looked around himself.

Twice was in front of him "Heya Bossman, you there?" Twice inquired, his head tilted.

"Sorry, Twice, I got lost in thought, there will be lots of counseling today, and I was thinking about how to help with the quirks; forgive me." Izuku apologized, rubbing the back of his neck.

Twice 'pfft'ed waving a hand.

"No problem Bossman, I understand how easy it is to get lost up here," Twice replied, tapping his head.

"But Inko-San is going to be up soon, and I need some help setting the table." Twice explained, jabbing a thumb back at the table.

"Of course, Twice." Izuku said, putting down his cup and grabbing some silverware to dress the table.

And indeed, his mom did come into the kitchen, still in her pajamas and a far too proud of himself Scamp in her arms.

Ah, Scamp must have woken her when he couldn't get his or Twice's attention.

"Good morning mom, sorry I didn't keep a better eye on Scamp." Izuku apologized but his mom waved him off, a sleepy smile and her hair a mess but she looked happy.

"Don't worry Izuku, I know how hard it is to keep track of such a little ball of joy. You used to wake me up much earlier on holidays." his mom jokingly said and Izuku flushed somewhat.

"Mom, I wasn't that bad!" he protested, his fists on his hips.

His mom just laughed back and proceeded to tell Twice about the time he woke her up on New Year.

Izuku was embarrassed but just huffed and smiled despite himself.

He... needed moments like this.

Small moments, ones where he didn't need to be anything more than a regular teenager.

Because it helped him remember why he was doing what he was doing.

And why he had to make sure to get rid of All For One.

Izuku's hands clenched on the edge of the counter, and his eyes hardened.

He would make sure of it no matter what.

Izuku after waking up: Mrrr...

He walks out of the bathroom and jumped by wholesome pupper

Izuku playing with pup:... You have been granted a stay of execution, enjoy it while it lasts.

Jin pokes his head out of the kitchen: You say something bossman?

Izuku beaming: Just muttering about work Twice, right Scamp?

Scamp the truly innocent: Bark!
