Modern AU: Hawke sneaks into one of Anders' law lectures and proceeds to do his best to quietly disrupt class, armed with nothing but a pen and his wit. Anders isn't amused.

Asher Hawke is desperately trying to hold on to the remains of his and Anders' relationship. When Surana appears in Kirkwall, Asher hopes the Hero of Ferelden will be able to help. But when Surana, who hates the Circle even more than Anders, discovers Anders' plans for the Chantry, things don't go the way Hawke had hoped.

After Fenris betrays him in the Fade, Asher Hawke tries to be understanding. He really does. But sometimes Fenris just doesn't know when to stop.

Hawke has never sided with Anders or mages, and then, with the ruins of the Chantry raining ash on the city, he does. Anders wonders why.
