There was a reason that Hawaii was very mindful of their lores, folklores and legends. Getting first hand encounters might not be a good thing. Especially if they are anything but friendly and downright malevolent in nature. (A.k.a .. Danny had a personal experience with the supernatural and Steve ended up feeling mightily overprotective about the whole thing)
