OK Peeps, while I still don't have the Third Book in the Shard Series the World Guide there is still a little bit more in the world of Third Earth Chanchalla and the Turtles need to do before they leave for Dardunah, and well not to get too much into spoilers while initially I was planning that at the end of the story Chanchalla and the Turtles never see each other again, I've had much time to rethink that for one thing I remembered the Battle Nexus is a thing so of course it's possible for them to see each other again, as for other things well you'll have to wait and see...
For some time after Samtra left her, Chanchalla was left feeling hopelessly confused and despairing, like a little lamb who had been separated from its Flock which in all honesty Chanchalla was...The Norfolk Ewe Janah now knowing why she had been sent to this strange world...To stop the Devourer, the Ancient Enemy of the Janah from before 'Time' began which she had learned was really the time when the Janah were actually ordinary animals in a menagerie and the Great Mother and Father the most powerful of the Gods were actually just the keepers of that menagerie but then something happened they came to the world of Dardunah, Great Mother and Father became Gods and transferred their Human Shape to the Animals turning them into Janah.
How on Earth was she supposed to figure out how to stop the Ultimate Evil?!
For a while Chanchalla wandered the swirling mists of her dream, but every time something that might lead her down a frightening path appeared Chanchalla following her Sheep Instincts for caution retreated back...Ever since it was revealed she had a talent for magic and she had begun her training as a Sir'hibas Chanchalla had been warned of the greatest danger to all magic wielders Heaven's Madness, a rare but fatal disease whose cause is unknown that for the most part only afflicts Sir'hibasi who travel extensively in the Dream World it slowly rots the brain causing madness, catatonia and eventually death, Priests have claimed the illness is a divine punishment against Sorcerers who seek knowledge that not meant for Janah to know...
So with no other options Chanchalla knelt known, clasped her hands together as though in prayer and began to sing the most sacred of Dardunah's songs The Journey Chant, which recounts the tale of Great Mother and Father bringing the Janah to Dardunah
"Darkness begins and Darkness ends
Light is the Purifier, the Great Flowing Sea..."
Chanchalla didn't know it but when she began singing in her dream...She was also singing sleepily as she lay in Michelangelo's bed.
Mikey was actually in the room, he had been watching over her for two whole days now since she healed him from a wound on his plastron than could have been fatal...When he heard her singing, Mikey leaped to his feet and ran to get Leo...
Now the Journey Chant is a REALLY long song she had only gotten to the fourth stanza when she felt a hand gently nudging her shoulder.
"The Edge of Heaven splits splits open
The Providers and Protectors come..."
Neither Leo nor Mikey had ever heard anything like this...The tune vaguely reminded them of Old English Folk Song Greensleeves...It didn't rhyme but they both realized this song was a translation from another language entirely (Neither of them realized that realization was a hint of something they would soon learn about the magic Chanchalla had done so they could understand each other)
Leo was gently shaking her shoulder to prod her to wake up further...
Finally out of the dream, Chanchalla's eyelids fluttered for a few moments like birds' breasts
Then finally she opened her eyes, as her vision cleared, she felt she couldn't have woken to a lovelier sight, the faces of the two handsome Turtle men, the one with the blue mask having the deepest expression of love she had seen on any male's face including her own family members
"Morning..." Leo said softly
Chanchalla smiled softly
Mikey trying not to overwhelm her with his normal exuberance said softly "Do most Janah have the ability to sleep sing?"
"You could hear my singing?" Chanchalla said "I thought I was only singing in the dream."
"It's a pretty song of what we could hear of it." Leo said "What's it called?"
"The Journey Chant..." Chanchalla said with a yawn "...The most Sacred Song in all of Dardunah...It is the song of how Great Mother and Father..."
And just saying that she remembered why she was singing in the first place, the message Samtra had given her revealing why Great Mother and Father had sent her to this strange world in the first place!
"I saw Samtra again in my dreams!" She said much more alert now, and she finally revealed to me why Great Mother and Father sent me to this world!"
Leo and Mikey's eyes widened, now they decided to tell her?
"Dardunah is in great danger from our Ultimate Enemy the Devourer..." And just then her stomach gave an enormous rumble...
"Maybe you should eat something first..." Leo said gently "...You've been sleeping for two whole days now..."
"I've been asleep...For two days?" Chanchalla didn't realize how long she had been out following her dream paths.
"Yeah." Mikey said "I've been standing watch over you cuz...I wanted to personally thank you...For you know...Saving my life..."
"Oh Mikey..." Chanchalla said "...I had to do something I know it was on my account you got hurt while searching for me..." She began to stir a bit more to get out from under the blankets, Leo knew Chanchalla sometimes had trouble climbing down the ladder, the metal rungs hurt her soft little aristocratic feet.
"Here..." Leo said "...Let me help you." he put his arms under her to lift her, and this time Chanchalla didn't feel embarrassed, and this time she melted at his touch, his cool, smooth reptilian hands, so different from the warm furry hands of her Vajrah family.
When he put her down on the floor her knees began to shake, Leo quickly picked her up again as it was clear she was still too weak to stand.
That was when Chanchalla noticed she was still wearing the same clothes, the teal sports bra and gray shorts she had been wearing the night she got captured by the rescue heroes and came back to the lair a few hours later after she answered some questions only her shoes had been removed, but of course the Turtles and Splinter were complete gentlemen! And would not change her into her nightclothes while she was out cold was she really that out of it? She was beginning to feel like one of those times she had a hangover because she had to drink wine because it was custom and would always get a hangover no matter how little she drank, she didn't like the taste of wine anyway it always burned her throat,
"How did you get such a horrible crack in your shell?" Chanchalla felt she had to ask Mikey "If that's not too much to ask..."
"It was just a really stupid mistake..." Mikey sighed rubbing his plastron, there wasn't a mark on it that was how much Chanchalla had healed it but the memory of getting the wound was still fresh in Mikey's mind, we were out searching for you after you got captured and...I don't know what happened I missed my jump and fell...And landed on a really sharp piece of metal..."
Chanchalla hissed in sympathy imagining the pain.
"There was a lot of snow and ice..." Leo said sympathetically "...That probably was what caused you to slip in addition to not being able to focus as much because of the stress..."
So yeah if you didn't read the first story Worlds Collide then a lot of this will not make sense to you in the slightest.
