『 The King 』
Roland had always been known to be on his feet, no matter the situation.
Always doing something after another.
Morning and Night were all the same, he was Indulgently in everything.
He was the king.
Like any king, he provides for his kingdom.
Being royal means being loyal to those who count on you.
For the people he must fight.
They all respect him and view him in a higher regard.
Roland was like his father, In appearance however his personality varied away from his late father.
His father was more of a strict man, he took being a king over being a father as his main priority over everything.
Did that man even consider his family?
He attempted to, to say the very least.
That was all he lived for, being the king.
Roland had grown-up to not be like his father because he took being a father over a king as his priority everyday.
He took being a good husband as his priority.
He was the king with a heart.
He had his bad moments, yes. Did he ever lose sight of what was significant? No.
He was better than that.
Any good king will always be better than that.
Back when his sister Tilly was supposed to be queen, she never really took her role seriously.
He had observed the mannerisms of what was needed to be king and he did it better than his big sister ever could.
He had learned how to list all the 100 crowns In all of EverRealm.
He had a sense of humor unlike his father.
He learned pretty early that his father was an incredibly stern man with austerity to back him up.
He always heard the chants of: "You look just like your father." From people In his early soon-to-be kinghood.
He liked people saying he resembled his mother more, with his father It felt out-of-place.
Tilly was more of a perfect blend between her parents because she neither looked too much like her mother and too much like her father.
He was so great.
Today was his birthday.
The one day of the year about him.
Only him and others, far and wide.
That was what your birthday was about, right?
March 18th, he was actually born two days before Tilly.
Roland wasn't the type to celebrate his birthday.
In fact, he did not care.
There were way too many things that had to be done and there was not much time to do it all.
His day was ordinary, the usual.
He had done whatever needed had to be done, everyone bid him a well happy birthday.
He had thanked him, but he really couldn't bat an eye.
That was the way he was.
The way the King was, his birthday was another day to him.
If you were his servant, you'd think he'd want to have a good birthday right?
That was not the case, unfortunately.
He arranged a jousting match for James with the legendary Jouster, Journi Joseph who had been Jousting ever since she was nine.
He arranged an astronomy class with Queen Massey of DonBroch.
And for Sofia, well— She just wanted a small picnic at Vivian's castle with her animal friends.
Oh Sofia and her love for animals.
He never thought of it as weird, really.
When he was a boy, he loved animals but he never thought once "I hope I can communicate with you and you verbally communicate back."
If he did, he'd be listed as crazy!
Right?
That only leaves him with his wife.
Oh, his lovely, beautiful Wife.
Once they hitched, Miranda had told him he should consider his own birthday more.
"My birthday is just another day, Miranda. My father never really celebrated it, so I have really caved in; my mother tried but the parties were not that successful."
That was what he told her.
King Roland I was not an abusive father but he did not comprehend the nuances of family etiquette, he tried to be there for his family anyway.
That was not the end-result though.
He had died so long ago, he died before the twins were born so he never got to meet them nor his new wife and child.
He was another king going down in history.
No, he was a king in history.
Every year for Roland's birthday, he was not there.
He always had something to do, something was to be done on his birthday and Tilly's.
The day have eventually come to an end.
It was dawn so he had finished all his royal duties early.
He had went to his room, finding his beloved wife on the sofa.
"Miranda?" He laughed, "What're you doing? I've not seen you all day." He took a seat beside her.
"Well, I thought since you were so busy today, I would be the loving wife that I am and scout out a gift for you."
A gift? Why would he want or get a gift?
He spoke "You didn't have to do that, dear."
"Yes I did." She responded. "Here you go."
Miranda handed him a small card with a peculiar blue thing sticking out.
He opened the letter.
"Dear Rollie, I know you aren't so keen on your birthday as usual but I got this because me and the kids wanted you to know how special you are."
Next to that were Blue Delphinium flowers.
He blushed, "Thank you, dear."
Miranda kissed his cheek affectionately.
"You're welcome, My King! Happy birthday."
"Thank you, Miranda."
Roland was truly fortunate to have a wife such as her.
