OK. I guess this is a thing now. Hello, I'm… almost had you there, did you seriously think I'd give away my secret identity? And for about 1 year I was the one and only Arachne. Swinging through the streets, fighting a fascist government with my team, the resistance, behind me every step of the way. I was the only Arachne, the figurehead of the resistance, but they were the backbone of it. But all that changed at the end of that first year. I was pulled into a parallel dimension by some strange science experiment where their spider man had been killed and the government wasn't evil. Met a number of spidermen in the same situation, and the new spiderman for that dimension. Not very surprisingly, I knew many of these people in my universe. The spiderman who had been killed was called by the codename Odysseus in my universe and he was the leader of the resistance. The new spiderman was called Bellerophon or just Bella in my universe. Finally, there was a spiderwoman who in my universe was called Atalanta and was my partner in crime, my main girl. She was the one I fought beside almost every single day. Well together with the new spider team, I saved that world from destruction due to the experiment that brought us there and I still managed to make it home for dinner.

I thought that was the end of it. Oh how naive I was. The next time I hopped through universes was, amazingly, completely unrelated to the first time. I was visted by a green goblin from another universe seeking to steal spideran dna for a superhuman serum. I met up with the spiderman from that universe, another Odysseus and fought the goblin but he got my dna and left. I was later summoned to his universe to fight that now buffed goblins with a bunch of other spiders. There were some different versions of spiders I've me before, some new ones. We beat the goblin then I got sent home.

Then there was a third time. I'm not joking. And it was completely unrelated to any of the previous times. I was pulled through this time by some weird magic spell another spiderman had tried to cast. I got pulled through with hobgoblin, an old friend and enemy of mine who had unfortunately passed away in a fight. Anyway, by this time I was basically a universe hopping veteran so I helped the spidermen who had accumulated there cure all the villains then hopped back to my universe again, just in time for tea.

Despite all the times it had happened previously, I still thought that was the end of it, but alas, the universe is not that kind. Or multiverse, I guess.

Things weren't exactly going well to begin with. The regime had captured me and was transporting me in a fully militarised convoy. Now this situation wasn't unfamiliar to me, It had happened a couple of times before, but it was never a good time when it happened. My hands were cuffed, my web-shooters and all my equipment were locked in a van three cars behind me and I was trapped with four armed guards. Don't worry, I had a plan, but it required precision and trust and a lot of patience. If I played my cards too soon it would fail miserably.

Looking around at the guards, I saw the nerves in their eyes. I figured at least one was here under some sort of threat or coercion, if not all of them. The rumble of the van reduced as the convoy came to a stop and a message came in over the radio.

bzzt* "roadblock. Changing route. Over." *bzzt* The tension in the van grew immensely as the guards started checking their weapons and ammunition. Convoy detours were dangerous with the resistance running around. Specific routes were always very carefully chosen, cleared and guarded. Of course they had backup routes, but there were only so many resources they could spare for the backup routes.

"Changing route. Over." The tension was now almost tangible at the second route change in as many minutes. This many changes was so unlikely to happen under normal circumstances that everyone in the van knew it had to be a planned attack. The breathing of all the guards started to accelerate, but still I remained silent. My heart was pounding a mile a minute as I took in every detail in and outside the van that I could. 4 guards. One looked to have injured his left leg and would be the easiest to take down. Fastest reflexes probably belonged to the private to my left, he needed to go down first. The guard in front of me looked so nervous I figured he wouldn't do anything until I'd already dealt with the other three. The van had no windows, so being aware of outside was more difficult. From the echo I knew we were still in the city, the busy section based on how nearby and loud the traffic sounded.

There were 2 more diversions and the van remained deathly silent as everyone waited for something to happen. Then the van came to a complete stop and a voice came over the radio. A new voice.

"The-" bzzt* "Bugle repo-" *bzzt* "Escape of Arachne." Everyone's eyes shot to the radio. We call him Homer, after the famous writer of the Odyssy and the Illiad. I had discovered in my travels through the multiverse that most of the time, Homer was an antagonist of spiderman, running news stories that painted him as a menace. Homer in my universe, however, is like a father to me. Really he's like a father to us all, being the oldest in person resistance member by a mile. He also runs our radio channel, helping us get our messages out there.

"I'm sorry guys, that's for me. You mind if I take that?" I reached my cuffed hands out and they all reacted.

As predicted, the guard to my left reacted first. But I was quicker, grabbing his lifting gun and slamming it into his face and kicking the leg of the injured guard, sending him screaming to the floor. '2 guards down' I thought. I moved to the third to my right, moving his gun away and headbutting him before turning to the fourth and final guard.

Then I realised my mistake. He had reacted quicker than predicted and his gun was already prepped and firing. I just barely dodged the bullet and slammed his head against the wall of the van, knocking him unconscious, the damage was done. Shouts were already coming in through the radios of shots being fired. Everyone knew what was going on now and my escape was about to get a lot more difficult.

I heard captain Stacy's voice coming over the radio instructing everyone to stay undercover rather than immediately attack my van. I smiled, he was slowing the response, giving me a chance. I slammed through the back doors of the van and took in the sight around me. We were in the middle of the central business district of Manhattan, surrounded by tall business buildings. In front of me was a van with SWAT taking cover around it and pointing their guns at me. Three vehicles away I saw the van holding my gear, that would be a difficult trip to make without web-shooters. Fortunately enough, I happened to have a couple. I dove in front of the first van as the police attempted to fire at me before pulling off the rubber part of my boots. Inside each one was an emergency web-shooter.

Clipping them on my wrist I shot a web up to the building next me, launching myself up a second later, flying too quickly for the bullets flying at me to land. I swing myself back off the building towards the van with all my equipment, shooting webs at the guards around it, tying them down and throwing their guns away. I pull the truck behind my van closer to provide better cover before breaking open the back door to the van. Inside are three more armed guards who immediately open fire as I take cover beneath the door. Two guards walk up to the door and I attack from below, pulling the first one down and smacking their head on the floor, throwing the next one into the window of the truck and webbing the two who had stayed behind before slamming them into each other. I finally manage to enter the van and break the cages holding all my equipment.

Another big difference I noticed between me and the other spidermen is that I have a lot more equipment than them. They generally have two webshooters, with varying levels of advancement and variety in webs, and that's it. However I have a much large array of tools. First and foremost are my two webshooters, each of which with a nozzle that changes width for different thickness of webs and a small deflector that allows me to shoot large net webs rather than single strands when the need arises. I also have a utility belt containing: spare web cartridges, tasers, A couple of smoke grenades and a gun. Now don't worry, the gun isn't for taking lives, Archne doesn't do that and neither does any spider I've met. No the gun is generally to be used as a tool, a threat or very rarely to neutralise a threat. I also use it against some of my enemies who are hardy enough to take multiple gunshots and remain relatively unharmed. And finally, the most powerful part of my arsenal is my backpack. This bag contains a container split into two halves. The top half contains a large amunt of web formula at a very high pressure. I can connect this to my webshooters via tubes and it allows me to shoot a lot of webbing much further and much faster, which can save a few vital seconds. The bottom half of the container is a web recycler, which reels in webs that I feed into it, which is a real money saver and also can be used to pull me along a web even faster. Along with my equipment is my suit. A dry suit base layer followed by a heavy duty protective layer. Bullet proof vest, padding, that kind of stuff. Then finally goes on my outer wastecoat and my helmet, which is a motorbike helmet except with a gas filter on the front in case they try to poison me, which happens a disturbing amount for a country that was part of the geneva convention and continued to punish other countries for breaking it.

It took mere seconds for me to don all my equipment and replace my emergency webshooters with my main ones before I was back out the door and swinging away. I bowled over police who were in my way and, though they shot after me, we all knew that it was too late. I had, yet again, escaped the custody of the regime. This was becoming embarrassing for them and I knew they would be sending out the big guns to catch me before word spread so I was moving quickly. I'd already moved several blocks before I activated the radio in my helmet. The torrent of voices was strangely relaxing. The chaotic nature of the resistant often worked to our detriment as much as to our favour, but I wouldn't change a thing.

"Good news!" I announced and the voices silenced for a second, "I'm not dead!"

There was a chorus of cheers before Odysseus' voice took over. "Cassandra tells me they've already sent out goblin and Doc Ock. Get back quick." I nodded and continued to swing through the city.

If you're wondering who Cassandra is, they're a police informant. We have a couple spread out, but this one none of us knew. Only Odysseus spoke with Cassandra and only Odysseus knew their identity. It was safer that way.

A second voice took over the channel and a smile grew on my face. "I'm glad you're ok Arachne."

"I'm glad I'm ok too Atalanta." She chuckled and I did too.

"You've been taking too many risks. One of these days we won't be able to save you. Or worse." I could hear the worry in her voice and just wanted to give her a hug.

"Relax, I have 100% faith that you can get me out of any mess I end up in.," I quipped before slipping into a more serious voice, "But seriously, this is the risk we take when we enter this life. When we chose that fight we knew we wouldn't all make it out the other side. But I promise I won't go without a good fight." She gave a sigh and I knew the lecture would continue once I got home.

However, something caught my eye. A large flash of flickering light. Almosts glitchy. I hadn't seen anything like that since…

"Hey, I'm gonna check something out at the twin towers, be back in a minute." Oh yeah, something else. Apparently most spiderman worlds had lost their twin towers. I'm not sure what made my universe different, but there you have it.

"Copy, be quick." Odysseus' voice replied.

"What are you looking at? Do you need help? We've got Psyche in the area if you need backup."

"Do you remember the first time I slipped between dimensions? It looks just like that." The radio goes silent for a second. No one wanted to deal with another multivers traveling adventure. We were really getting tired of this and we all knew it would be too easy to get trapped in this other dimension.

I jumped off the top of a building attaching a web at the top before running down the building and stretching the web to the bottom. Once at the bottom, I allowed the web to pull me up while putting it into the entrance of the recycler. The web gets pulled in, stretching it and maintaining the high tension to pull me up.

Barely a couple of seconds after jumping off the top of the building, I was launched back up and straight into the sky. I spread out a glider I keep in my suit and start rocketing towards the towers.

Between them I see… well what I can only describe as an actual green goblin; giant, green, huge horns and wings with fire coming out of its eyes. I land on window next to it and call down.

"Hey! Can I call you goblin?" The monster turned towards me and roared.

"Who are you?! Spiderman?! Why the costume change! I'll destroy you either way!" He flew straight towards me, hands outstretched. I flipped over him, shooting a web on him and puling him away from crashing into the first tower before I landed on the second one. He crashed to the floor.

"Sorry to disappoint Goblin, but I'm not spiderman. The names Arachne. Would you mind not destroying me?"

"A rose by any other name can still be pruned!"

"Shakespeare," I shouted, smiling as I dodged a blast of flames, "Well, almost. But poetic. Wish my goblin was this good with words."

"Your goblin?" His confusion resulted in him pausing in his attacks.

"Indeed. You've slipped into another dimension somehow. We should work on getting you back to your universe before-" Goblin buckled over as he started glitching out. "Well, before that happens."

Goblin regained his composure "What was that? What did you do to me?!!" He launched a barrage of cars at me.

I grunted as I worked to dodge them. "Your atoms are disassembling because of the new universe. If you could just pause your attack I could- UGHPPH!" A car smashed into me, burying me deep into the tower. I groaned, feeling the broken ribs beneath the car.

Goblin flew into the tower after me and landed on the car. "What are you talking about?! Different dimension? How did I get here?"

"If you could just get off this car," I wheezed out, "We can figure that."

Goblin shook his head. "And miss the chance to kill my worst enemy? I don't care what universe I'm in, I made a promise to kill spiderman and I will do just that."

"A-Arachne," I choked out the correction before lifting my hands and shooting two webs at him, using the spredder to create two nets attached to threads that interweave with each other. The nets wrapped around Goblin's head and I threw his head to the side, nocking him off balance and away from me.

I slowly pushed the car and stood up, whincing at the pain in my chest. "That's gonna hurt in the morning." I muttered before turning to face the Goblin. He stood tall, breaking through the floor above to do so, while I slouched from the pain.

He started to run toward me, but before he could reach me, a portal that glitched much the same way as other multiversal problems I'd seen appeared between us. We both stood in silence for a moment before a figure in white burst out of it. They kicked Goblin in the face and sent him stumbling away and out of the window. They turned towards me and I recognised her. She was the spiderwoman from my first mutiversal adventure.

"Please tell me you're the one I know and not another version from another universe." I pleaded as I approached her.

She cocked her head, "Another version Arachne? Why would you think that?"

I smiled when she recognises me before sighing, "It's been a very long year." I gesture at the portal. "What's that?"

She turned around and looked at it. "It's a long story."

I walked over to the window and saw the Goblin standing up. "You any good at talking while you fight? 'Cause if so we got plenty of time." She strolled up next to me and shrugged.

"Guess we do." We both jumped down to attack Goblin and she started talking.

"So there's this spider society. And I'm apart of it. And we travel between universe to collect anomalies and send them home."

"Hold it," I interrupted as I dodge one of Goblin's attacks. "What's an anomaly?"

"Oh right, yeah. An anomaly is when someone falls into another universe."

"I know how that feels."

She smiled at that. "That little adventure to MIles' universe left holes between universes big enough for people to fall through."

"Dam. Ok. That's far from ideal. Wait, are you telling me there was a legitimate phenomenon linked to our travels through the multiverse that could have caused further multiversal adventures, and that was not one of the ways I travelled through universes afterwards? Seriously?"

"STOP YOUR YAMMERING AND LET ME KILL YOU!"

"In a minute Goblin." Spiderwoman shouted down at him before looking at me, confused. "Did you just say you had other multiverse adventures?"

"Like I said. It's been a long year. Travelled through universes two other times, neither of them in any way linked to each other or our first adventure."

"Dam."

"But anyway, about that spider society you mentioned."

"Oh yes, so it's full of amazing people. There's Miguelle and Peter's there too and Hobi-"

"Hold up. Did she say my name." I heard Perseus say over the comms.

"I think she did," I answered. Spiderwoman looked at me confused. "Sorry, you said the name of one of the resistance fighters. The british revolutionary."

"Oh, you mean ho-" I ran up to her and placed my hand over her mouth.

"Don't say his name. We call him Perseus. After the greek hero who killed his own king.

Spiderwoman nodded. "That makes sense." Goblin threw another car towards us and we dodged. "Catching up has been really fun but right now we have to stop Goblin before he disrupts the canon too much."

"Canon? As in the stuff in stories?" I shrugged. "Guessing that just means normal universe running. You're right, lets end this. You go low, I'll go high."

She nodded. I jumped forward shooting a web onto Goblin's face and pulling as I flew over him, yanking him backwards. Spiderwoman jumped right after me, shooting a web behind Goblin's legs and tripping him up. Before he could stand, I connected the high pressure web tank to my webshooters and activated the spreader before shooting at him. This wrapped him up very quickly in a large net of webs. Spiderwoman shot her own string webs to help tie the Goblin down. In a matter of seconds he was fully restrained and I turned to my partner.

"Now what?"

"Now we bring him back to base and send him home." She opened up another portal with a device on her wrist and threw Goblin through. "Nice seeing you again."

I went to walk away before sighing. I didn't want to get stuck dealing with anoher multiversal threat and risk not coming home, but I also couldn't just leave a problem unfixed. I stood there indecisive for a moment before I saw approaching agents of the government, my goblin and doc ock, and that made the decision for me. Couldn't just stay here. I turned to spiderwoman just as she was about to leave. "What? The multiverse is having problems and you're just gonna leave me here?"

She turned back. "It's not my decision on who joins."

"Let me apply, I having a sparkling resume." She sighed before stepping aside to let me through. And with that, I made the decision and leapt through the portal.
