Authors note: This takes place after the events of Knuckles Chaotix, meaning anything beyond that hasn't happened yet. also, the title is a work in progress so I might change it in the future. with that out of the way, please enjoy
Chapter 1
The iconic Green Hill Zone is in its full glory. Full of naturally occurring loops and 4-foot-tall sunflowers. Sonic, a blue hedgehog with incredible speed, races through the vibrant landscape, accompanied by his trusty sidekick, Tails, a twin-tailed fox. "Whoo-hoo! Nothing beats the feeling of the wind in my quills!" sonic says, energetically. tails chuckles "You're always full of energy, Sonic. But we've got a new mission. Dr. Robotnik is up to something big again." he says. Sonic grins "Well, what are we waiting for? let's roll!" They zoom off towards Robotnik's base, dodging and destroying badniks along the way. After a while, Sonic and Tails arrive at 's base "Alright robuttnik" Sonic says, mockingly "What's your evil plan for this week?" "Ah, Sonic, my ultimate nemesis. You won't stop me this time!" Robotnik says, smirking "Meet my latest creation: METAL SONIC MK2! or as i like to call it, X ROBOT!" a robotic blue hedgehog emerges from the shadows. It had two blades on top of its wrists, a singular glowing eye, and a missile launcher on its back. "Ain't this your 5th robot?" Sonic asks "There was Robo Sonic, Mecha Sonic, Mecha Sonic mk2, and Metal Sonic," Tails says, recounting all of the previous metals "You're not very creative when it comes to these hedgehog creations are you?" "Enough of your taunting!" Robotnik shouts "Attack them Metal Sonic!" "You can build all the robots you want, Robotnik, but I'll always be one step ahead!" Sonic shouts back. Sonic and Metal Sonic crash through the roof and continue their intense battle on the rooftop. Their incredible speed and acrobatics create a breathtaking spectacle. some of the debris flies towards some nearby birds, Sonic notices this and runs over to them, moving them out of the way just in time "Sonic, look out!" Tails yell as Metal Sonic MK2 flies towards him as its arms turn into a drill and spin towards Sonic. Sonic can jump out of the way just in time "Thanks for the heads up bud" Sonic said "You get the animals to safety, I'll worry about Metal" Sonic uses his speed and quick reflexes to outmaneuver Metal Sonic, gaining the upper hand. Sonic slams Metal Sonic MK2 through the roof and into the control room. With a final burst of speed, Sonic delivers a decisive blow, causing Metal Sonic to malfunction and collapse. "No!" Robotnik yells "Metal Sonic, you failure!" Sonic and Tails approach Robotnik, confident in their victory. Sonic grins "Game over, Robotnik. Your plans have once again been scrambled." He says "This is not the end, Sonic!" Robotnik shouts while climbing into the Egg Mobile "I have something prepared for you that you will never see coming!" An arm emerges from the Egg Mobile and scoops out Metal Sonic MK2. "yeah right!" Tails shouts back. "We'll always be one step ahead of you!" Sonic and Tails share a triumphant high-five as Robotnik retreats. An hour later, Sonic and Tails are at Tails' workshop in Green Hills Zone, basking in their victory. Sonic is idly throwing a chaos emerald into the air and catching it. "Well, I'm bored," Sonic told Tails "I'm gonna go for a run, cya around!" Sonic dashes out of the workshop with the chaos emerald. Sonic, running at incredible speed, holds a Chaos Emerald. He examines it closely, marveling at its radiant glow. Suddenly, he runs through a waterfall "Shoot, I hate getting wet!" Sonic shouts. He looks down at his hand and sees the Chaos Emerald has stopped glowing "Huh, that's strange" Sonic said, examining the Chaos Emerald "This hasn't happened before" Before Sonic can think any further, the Chaos Emerald flies out of his hand and into the hands of another hedgehog. Sonic looks at the hedgehog, the hedgehog has the same appearance as Sonic except the quills on his face are black along with a line that extends from his face and across his spines, the rest of his quills are green, and his spines are also different, instead of his spines somewhat bending downwards like sonic, two of the spines on the sides of his head were bending upwards. He also didn't have any shoes on. Sonic approached the hedgehog, who backed off a little, it was obvious the hedgehog was somewhat scared and confused "Hey, who are-" Sonic couldn't even finish his sentence before the hedgehog ran off. Before Sonic could pursue him, the hedgehog was long gone, along with the chaos emerald "Who was that?" Sonic asked himself "I should go tell Tails this" Sonic ran back to Tails' workshop.
