Chapter 1

Kaeya knew he was unsafe. He would always be unsafe, no matter where he went. As long as he was Khaenri'ahn, there would always be a target on him. He has to be super careful as of now, rumor has spread through mondstadt of someone within the Knights of Favonius being of Khaenri'ahn blood. Meaning everyone was under investigation. It's been an international rule since the destruction of Khaenri'ah that any found survivors were to be publicly executed. The slightest slip up and he'd wake up on the guillotine. So he needed to keep his level head and his charm up, and no one would suspect him.

As of now, Kaeya was looking through the records of different members of the Knights of Favonius, as his assigned duties for today. He was to find any and all familial history on whatever knights who's files he had. And so far, nothing, which he sort of expected. A lot of the files he's gone through didn't go past parents. Did Kaeya really have anything to worry about? He has no family records, not since he was disowned. The most that would be on his file was his adoption into the Ragnvindr family, and the disowning, right? Wrong. Because just then, he gets a knock on his door, to which he answers, "Come in.". And in walks Lisa, eyeing him strangely.

"Did you need something?" Kaeya asks, raising an eyebrow. He sits down the file he was looking through and turns around in his chair, facing Lisa. "Jean wants to speak with you." Lisa replies, tilting her head slightly. Kaeya nods and stands up from his chair. Following Lisa, Kaeya couldn't help but notice the 4 knights behind them, all tense. "Any particular reason we're being followed?" Kaeya asks, that signature smirk of planted on his face. "No reason, I just asked them to tag along." Lisa responds as they arrive at the door to Jean's office, knocking on the door and being granted entrance.

Jean has a serious look on her face, but also seemed conflcted, stuck on something. "Kaeya." Jean starts, and Kaeya feels like a boulder was dropped on his shoulders. Jean continues; "Is there something you'd like to tell me before I follow through with this?" Jean continues in question. Follow through with what? What does she mean? "I'm not quite sure whst you're referring to, Jean." Kaeya replies, tilting his head as he scanned Jean's desk. His file was there, and opened. As well as what looked like a book? A book on how to identify Khaenri'ahns. He's fucked. "You're lying to me." Jean says. She sighs and stands up from her desk. Jean grabs the book and opens it to a page with photos placed inside, facing it towards Kaeya. "Your eyes are identical to these. And-" Jean flips to the back of the book, then turns it to him again. "-your surname is right here, Alberich."

Kaeya swallowed. He had no cover up for this, he had no idea a book like that even existed. What idiot published that damned book? "How— How can we be sure this book isn't a complete lie created to get certain family lines wiped out?" Kaeya asks. Hopefully it would work. Jean closes the book and sits it down. "Because required the help of an archon to retrieve." Jean answers. There's an uncomfortable silence for a moment, then in comes those same 4 knights. "I'm afraid I must place you under arrest and strip you of your title of Calvary Captain." Kaeya doesn't protest. He lets them throw the brown sack over his head and take him away.

All 4 of the knights are silent as they take him down below the headquarters, and into what some would call a dungeon. Kaeya can hear the keys unlocking one of the holding cells. The pull the sack off his head and give him a slight shove. This is where he'll be until his execution, the last place he wanted to end up. Kaeya wonders how fast word will spread around, none of the knights could really keep secrets, especially the teens.
