Hutch stared down the dark alley, shock appeared on his face. "Hey, Starsky look."

The brunet sat at the red light, his Torino idling. His head still stared straight ahead. "Wha'."

Hutch, reached over and turned his partner's head. "Will you just look."

"Okay, Blonde, what am I supposed to be lookin at."

Hutch glanced back down the alley which was now empty. "There was a white rabbit, it was over-six-feet."

"I think the shake you drank this morning is making you delusional. It smells bad enough."

They both sat in the Torino and remained silent. Hutch checked out every alley they passed. When they arrived at Bay City Police Department, Starsky parked in front of the curb. The two detectives entered the building, making their way to the office.

Captain Dobey saw his two detectives as they walked in. "Starsky, Hutchinson, come to my office and close the door."

Hutch sat in the chair and Starsky sat on the arm rest. Their captain held a report in his hand and scratched his head with his other hand. "I have a report of a large...well a very large." He glanced at his detectives and said, "Rabbit."

The curly-haired brunet detective's eyes popped wide open. "Hutch saw a very large rabbit this morning."

The captain rolled his eyes. "Hutchinson, I expect something like this from Starsky."

Hutch had a sheepish look as he stood up. He looked out the window, deep in thought; then he turned around. "I was there, I know, I saw."

Starsky had a teasing tone in his voice. "There's a giant rabbit roaming the streets of Bay City terrorizing the good citizens. "

Hutch tilted his head and raised his hand. "Oh come on, Starsky. There's a logical explanation. It's Easter Eve. Someone dressed up for the kids."

"In a dark alley?"

Hutch turned to his captain. "What about robberies in the area?"

"You know, it's been slow around here. It's too hot for this time of year, even the criminals are staying indoors."

In frustration, Hutch walked out the door; his partner followed behind. They stood by Starsky's car. Hutch opened the passenger's door. "I know what I saw, and there's a good explanation. I'm going to find out who and why."

Starsky drummed his hands on the top of the Torino. "We're going to find out partner. Where do you want to start?"

Before he could answer, "Zebra 3, Huggy Bear needs you at The Pits. Code one."

Hutch responded. "We're on our way."

They drove quickly without lights or siren.

Inside The Pits, everything appeared normal. Huggy was busy behind the bar. The detectives nodded their heads and walked to the back of the bar. Mickey, an informant, grabbed the blond detective's arm. "Hutch, man, I heard you saw that white rabbit. You know ever since Monk and his men gave you that shot. I mean you hadn't been the same. You don't look so good. Maybe you need to see a doctor."

Hutch grabbed his collar and pulled him close to his face. "Mickey, if you're involved in this sick prank."

Huggy Bear stepped between them. "You know, Mickey, you're not allowed in my place. Get outta of here."

Mickey raised his arms. "I didn't mean nothing, just messing around."

Starsky grabbed his hand and twisted his wrist, escorting him out the door. "It's time to take out the trash."

Huggy sat down at the table with his two friends. "I wanted to inform you two about a large white rabbit. Did you really see that white-eared dude, Hutch?"

"In the alley by Broadway St. My guess is it's an Easter prank.."

Starsky asked, "How many saw it Hug?"

Huggy raised his eyes upwards, thinking. "Fifteen, that I know of; It seems to stay to itself; doesn't seem to bother anything or anyone. It leaves these different colored eggs, and then the rabbit mysteriously disappears."

He reached into his pocket and placed a green egg on the table. "I was careful when I put it in this plastic bag. You know, so you could get prints. If rabbits have them." He shrugged his shoulders. Starsky picked up the bag. "Well, let's take this to the station and see if rabbits have prints."

Later at the station:

Hutch had the bag in his hand with the egg. He held it toward Minnie. "I need this tested for prints." He softly held Minnie's hand. "I need this today, sweetheart."

"Anything, you blond hunk."

Hutch blushed and kissed her on the cheek.

"I'm on this right now, sugar."

Starsky glanced at his watch. "What do you say we go to my place and order pizza, Blondie? Your treat."

"Oh, gee, thanks, cheapskate."

At the pizza place:

The two detectives walked towards the pizza place. Hutch peeked around the corner and looked down the alley. The large white rabbit sat in a chair, holding a basket. The basket was made of woven different colored corn husks. It also contained eggs of many colors. Hutch grabbed Starsky's arm then put his hand over his friend's mouth. They both hid behind the brick wall; the blond detective pointed toward the alley. Starsky slowly peeked his head around the wall. He couldn't believe his eyes: A very large white rabbit sat in an old wicker chair.

Starsky whispered, "I'm gonna go round to the back." He pointed toward the fence at the end of the alley, then quickly disappeared around the building.

Hutch stayed hidden behind the building and waited. Then he pointed his gun around the corner of the brick wall. "Put your hands up."

The tall white rabbit stood up, put his hands on his head. Hutch moved closer, clenching his Magnum. Taking his hands and patting the rabbit down; checking for weapons. His fur was the softest he had ever felt. Maybe, angora or chinchilla. He smelled like chocolate, jelly beans, and spring flowers. Hutch grabbed the rabbit's arms and reached for his handcuffs, but they were too small to go around the rabbits wrists.. Starsky's eyes peered over the fence. Suddenly! The rabbit slowly faded into nothing.

Hutch glanced at his hand, which held white fur. He held his hand towards his brunet partner, who had jumped the fence. They stared at the empty chair, then at each other. They turned, and slowly walked to the Torino, forgetting about the pizza.

They drove without speaking, both deep in thought. Then Starsky broke the silence. "What exactly happened back there?"

Hutch held the evidence bag containing the rabbit fur. "I wish I knew, Buddy."

"Blondie, maybe we should let Huggy look at that." He pointed to the fur inside the bag.

Huggy opened the door to Hutch's place, he had a pizza in is hand. "Here is The Bear's specialty pizza, basil, thyme, and secret ingredients."

Starsky put the pizza on plates. "Come on, Hug what's the secret."

"Now Curly, It took many long sleepless nights for me to perfect this recipe."

Starsky held up his right hand. "Ah, come on Hug. I promise not to tell a soul."

"Not even for you, Starsky."

The three friends finished the pizza. Hutch reached into his pocket and pulled out the bag that contained the fur.

Huggy Bear lightly held the white fur in his hand. "This is top grade Angora Rabbit; raised by a top breeder. He glanced at Hutch. "Your rabbit walks on two legs."

Starsky spoke in an excited tone. "I saw it today! It walks on two. The eyes don't look like those fake button eyes. They look real.

Hutch stood up and rubbed the back of his neck. "Today my rabbit, I mean the rabbit; faded slowly until it was gone."

The three friends pondered the thought.

The phone rang, breaking the silence. Hutch picked it up. "Hey, Minnie. Yes, that's interesting. Thanks, sweetheart, for staying late. I'll take you out for dinner Friday. Any place you want?" Then he put the phone back on its base.

"That was Minnie, she said the prints on the green egg were from a real rabbit."

Huggy stood up and handed the fur back to Hutch. "Well, today is Easter Eve, so that rabbit dude is going to be busy tonight."

Starsky had a twinkle in his eye. "I got a chocolate candy bar all the way from Holland one year. Mom said she didn't know where it came from. She didn't have the money for something like that."

Huggy smiled. "Man, I got a chocolate bunny all the way from Switzerland. My parents still wonder how it got in our house."

Hutch rubbed his forehead. "We never had Easter, Mother thought it was nonsense. I always wanted the golden egg."

Hutch's friends decided to spend Easter Eve with their blond friend and show him a great Easter. They spent the evening playing Monopoly.

In the wee hours of the morning, Hutch woke to the sound of footsteps. He rubbed his eyes and caught sight of an egg, sitting on his nightstand. "Starsky! Huggy!"

Starsky and Huggy woke from a sound sleep and stumbled into their friend's room. Hutch ran his hands through his blond hair, pointing at the golden egg.

Happy Easter:
