My Little Girl-Ch 1
Penelope Garcia stood up from her desk and stretched, it had been a long day and she was exhausted, she had been helping her team of crime fighters and B team with their cases and now that it was time to go home she couldn't wait to get back to her apartment and fill her bathtub full of hot bubbly water and soak all of her troubles away.
She had just received word from her hotstuff that the team was calling it a night and gonna head back to their hotel and try to get a little sleep so she was going to take this opportunity to go home and do the same thing. She turned off her computers aka her babies and grabbed her purse and started making her way toward the elevator, she could hear that tub of chunky monkey ice cream calling her name and after her bath she was gonna eat all of it.
When she got home a few minutes later she stepped through her door, shut and locked her door before toeing off her shoes and making her way through the beaded curtain that seperated her living room from her bedroom. She grabbed her night clothes and then headed straight to the bathroom where she turned the hot water on and poured bubble bath into the water and stuck her hand in the water and swirled the water around to make the bubbles.
Penelope then took off her clothes and climbed into the hot water, she sighed in happiness as she rested her back against the tub and instantly she could feel the pain and stress of the way melting away. After soaking for a few more minutes she got out, dried off and put her night clothes on and started making her way through to her kitchen to grab that ice cream so she could spend the rest of the evening on her couch in front of her television set.
She was halfway through her pint of chunky monkey when she heard somebody knocking on her door, she put her ice cream down and looked at her watch and saw that it was almost 8:00, she knew it wasn't anybody from her team because they were all in Utah on a serial killer case. Penelope stood up and started making her way across the room, she silently looked through the peep hole and saw a woman standing there with a baby in her arms, she then stood trying to recognize the woman but couldn't.
Cautiously she grabbed her cell from the table and her her finger hovering over Derek's number as she slowly unlocked the door and pulled it open, the woman smiled at her and said, "hello, my name is Rosemary Tanner and I'm with Virginia Social Services". Penelope said, "yes, yes, please come in, come in" as she stepped back so the woman could come inside to get the baby out of then night air.
They walked over and sat down on the couch, Penelope looked alt the woman and said, "I'm sorry mam, what did you say your name was again?", the woman grinned and said, "I'm Rosemary Tanner and I'm from Virginia Social Services". She looked from the womans face to the sleeping child in the car seat and said, "how can I help you?", Rosemary said, "you are Penelope Grace Garcia, correct?", Penelope said, "yes, yes I am".
Rosemary said, "do you remember Margaret Archer?, Penelope said, "yes, of course I do, we grew up together in California", Rosemary said, "I'm afraid that I have some bad news Ms. Garcia", Penelope sat on the edge of the couch and said, "wait, is this baby hers, wait, where is she?", Rosemary said, "yes this is her baby but I'm afraid that she has passed away from complications for the babies birth".
Penelope said, "s s she's dead, Margaret's dead?", Rosemary said, "yes, this little angel here, her name is Jasmine and she's only a few days old", Penelope said, "where is Margaret?", Rosemary said, "her funeral was yesterday, we tried since Jasmine was born and Margaret died to find you and wasn't able to until earlier today".
Penelope said, "I still can't believe that she's gone, that Margaret is gone", Rosemary said, I'm sorry Ms. Garcia but sadly she is gone" Penelope's glance then fell to the baby in the carseat and she said, "so what's going to happen to Jasmine?", Rosemary said, "in her will Margaret has left her daughter to you" Penelope's mouth flew open and she said, "wait, she what, she left me her child, why would she do that, we haven't spoken in years" to which Rosemary said, I honestly have no idea maam".
The baby started crying and Rosemary did everything she could to get Jasmine to stop crying but nothing worked, Penelope said, "can I try?", Rosemary nodded her head and said, "sure" and handed her the crying newborn. It took less than a minute for the baby to cuddle close to Penelope and stop crying, she looked down at the little child and smiled, she then looked at Rosemary and said, "I think she likes me".
Rosemary said, "I think so too Ms. Garcia", Penelope said, "please call me Penelope", Rosemary said, "I think she likes you too Penelope", when Penelope glanced back down at the child she was sleeping again, Penelope said, "what am I suppose to do I have nothing here for a baby, no crib, no clothes, diapers, food, nothing, what am I suppose to do?, Rosemary said, "I have some things for you in the car, it will do until you can go shopping and get the supplies you will need".
Penelope and Rosemary spent the next couple of hours getting a portable crib set up, the food, clothes and diapers she had with her put away and they got through some paperwork, before she left Rosemary said, "this is Margaret's will and savings account book, as you can see she has your name already on the account with her", as she looked at the book she said, "it's like she knew that she was going to die".
Rosemary said, "she had a clotting disorder and knew the dangers of having Jasmine but wanted her desperately", Penelope said, "well what about her family, parents, siblings?", Rosemary said, "all deceased, she was the last surviving member". Penelope said, "so what do I need to do now?", Rosemary said, "get comfortable with Jasmine and in a few days I'll call you to schedule a home visit so I can see how the two of you are doing".
Penelope nodded her head said, "that sounds good" as she wrote down her cell numbers and handed them to Rosemary, she then said, "this one and this one are my work numbers and these two are my cells", Rosemary nodded her head and said, "I'll go but if you need anything, please don't hesitate to call me, my number is here on this card" as she handed Penelope her card before walking to her door.
As Penelope followed her across the room she smiled and said, "good night Rosemary", Rosemary said, "and good night to the two of you also", after Rosemary was out of sight Penelope closed and locked the door before returning to the babies side. She smiled down at the little girl and said, "well Jasmine I guess I'm your mommy, now I don't know what I'm doing right now but I promise you that I'll do my best to keep you safe, happy and healthy" as she plopped down on the couch to watch her new daughter sleep.
