Chapter 3: Meeting Him

Rattle. Crrr.

Phil could hear the sound of wheels pulling against dirt and gravel. As he began to regain his vision, still spinning, he could see a sheet in front of his eyes. He reached his hand out to touch it, however it went right through as if it were paper.

"What?" Phil mumbled in confusion.

Phil lifted his head up through the cloth. He was in a forest, dark and misty being pulled along by a wooden cart.

The ginormous robust man looked behind him to see that he had awoken. "Ahh. You're finally awake."

Phil turned his head over to the tall man. His arms were tensed up from carrying the weight of the carriage. He looked down toward the cloth and saw that his body phased through it. "Huh?" The cart stopped.

The man turned around. "Maybe I should give you the run down so you don't start screaming." He put his hands together. "You." He looked at him dead in the eyes. "Are dead."

"What?" Phil was frozen in shock. 'What does he mean, I'm dead? I can't be, I'm right here aren't I?'

"Well technically you aren't, but it's too complex to explain that."

Phil lifted himself off the cart. He could see the ground. "Hey. What? Where's-"

"You're permanently stuck in that position." He told Phil.

"What do you mean? What position?"

The man sighed, and lifted the sheet. "Turn around."

Phil turned to see, his body, misshapen and stuck in one place. One half of his body was on one side. The other, the opposite. "Huh. Explains why I can see the floor." He had a serious look on his face. "Wait, wait, wait. Go back. What do you mean I'm not dead."

"Woah I didn't expect..." He mumbled to himself. "Doesn't matter. I revived you. But I only revived your spirit. Your body is dead but you yourself. Are alive."

"Huh. Interesting." Phil replied. He looked back to his body. And then to the man, then back to the man. He squinted his eyes. "You seem familiar."

"How so?" The man's deep voice boomed.

Phil stared at him some more. "Uhhhh. No, no. Nevermind. Must be someone else."

The man was in shock. 'How could someone be so good at fighting, but so fucking stupid at the same time.'

He turned around and picked up the cart, beginning to pull it once again.

"Where are we going anyway?" Phil asked, floating beside the cart.

"The monster territory." He replied coldly.

"With my body? What for?"

'How the fuck could someone be so stupid!' He screamed in his head.

The nearest town wasn't far away. If Phil didn't hide, he'd spark suspicion.

"I need to take it there to register." He told Phil.

"Register me?"

"Yes, register you. Now can you hide back under the cover." He said forcefully.

"Hide? Why?"

"Just do it."

Phil floated back over to his body, trying his best to slot himself back in place. 'Why though?' He thought.

Though he would soon find out. The man wasn't liked by many...
