"This is Just the Facts, J. Jonah Jameson! Today's topic is about this deceptively named "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" app. We have invited an opposing view from a...HA!...rival podcaster on this menace and his friends' new app which lets you message them directly. Our show provides both sides. Mine and the wrong , speak!"
"Okay...well, I think that this app is an awesome resource for people who live in Starling City. My name is Danika Heart, host of the DanikaCast. I'm doing this because...actually, I don't know why I agreed to this. Look, the app just helps our Spider-Heroes help people more effectively."
"Or hack their phones!" Jameson cried.
"Paranoid much?" Danika asks. "Look, the app just helps Spider-Man, right? Did that black and red one get another name? I always thought that Shadow-Spider or Kid Arachnid sounded like a cool name. Wait, I'm getting off topic. Sorry. Look, all the heroes have done in the past month since that app was released is help people. I mean, the Rhino rampage, that Shocker guy, even the Mole Man, just about everyone who wants to tear down this city."
"More like he's taking out the competition," Jameson said. "Spider-Man is a menace to this city. Ever since he shown up, all of these freaks came crawling out of the works. Without Spider-Man, we wouldn't have these criminals."
"Well, I feel safer living in a world with Spider-Man to help fight these criminals than I would living in a world without him," Danika proclaimed.
"Oh, would you look at that, we are out of time. That's all for Just the Facts with J. Jonah Jameson today." Jameson said as he turned away. "Jared, who's idea was this? There is no benefit to tearing down a child!"
Five months have passed since the fight between Spider-Man and Arrow against Deathstroke. Five months have also passed since not only Anya was bitten by one of the OsCorp spiders, but another girl as well.
In the last three months or so, there have been sightings of another Spider-Girl.
Nobody knows who or when exactly she first appeared, but they do know that it was sometime after Slade's attack. There have also been other sightings of other "vigilantes" around the city, either inspired by the Arrow or Spider-Man.
But this new Spider-Girl has been putting most of them in the wrong light in recent days. She is currently the suspect in the murder of a high school student, as she was seen fleeing the scene. There were no reports of anyone else in the vicinity, nor any signs of anyone other than the victim and Spider-Girl.
Right now, the police have received a tip as to where Spider-Girl is currently located. They don't know why she is there, but that isn't exactly what they are here to find out.
A swarm of officers was led by Captain Yuri Watanabe. They swarmed the outside of the building, and Yuri was starting to gather a group of officers to head inside.
"Listen, we've been getting word that the vigilante the press has labeled 'Ghost Spider' has been spotted in this building. We have her cornered, but if you think we have her outnumbered, you're sorely mistaken." Yuri warns her task force what they're likely to face. "I've seen what one of these Spiders can do up close. They can and have taken down armies. She may not be as experienced as them, but that hasn't stopped them before. Do not underestimate her. Get in, take her down. We cannot let her slip out of our grasp again."
Yuri sent her men on the task to capture her unharmed. Not like they would do any harm to her anyway. Yuri walked over to her car and picked up a megaphone to warn Ghost-Spider. There was no way for her to escape without being spotted or seen. This meant that they could talk to her and ask her to surrender.
"To the individual known as Ghost-Spider, we have you surrounded. Surrender peacefully, and you will not be harmed," said Yuri.
Silence reigned, broken only by the wails of passing cars and the shrill cries of emergency vehicles. Officers surrounded the building, guns trained on it, waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Nothing was coming.
Everyone was starting to worry. Some were worried about receiving the wrong address, others were concerned about being in the wrong place, and still others focused on finding a way to escape.
But that's when something finally happened in the form of a window being shattered. Ghost-Spider put all of her weight into the window and shattered it on her way down.
Ghost Spider wears a black bodysuit with white areas that form a spider design; her hood has a white interior lining with an orange trim, and she also sports magenta-and-cyan web patterns on her upper arms. Her boots have cyan soles.
All of the cops opened fire on the escaping criminal yet couldn't manage to hit her. They weren't even able to slow her down with their gunfire.
As she approached the ground, Ghost-Spider landed on the roof of one of the cars. Then she leapt to avoid the tranquilizer darts and continued flipping to shoot webs at the cops, encasing them all in cocoons. Not a single member of the squad stood a chance; she finished off by webbing up the entrance to the building.
"Officers down, dispatch backup immediately."
"Won't do you any good," Ghost Spider said with a sigh.
Her Spider-Sense tingled, and she spun around. One of the cops tried to shoot her in the back, but she managed to leap just as the shot was fired. She flipped over the car and landed behind the cop. Before he could react, she webbed the gun from his hand. Yanking the weapon free, she threw it through one of the police car windows.
The Ghost Spider looked over towards Yuri, who had her hand stuck to a car. "You know... you should really send more backup next time or be better prepared."
With that, Spider-Ghost leapt and swung away from the scene unscathed. Not a single cut in her suit, not even a scratch from the glass.
Yuri sighed and banged her head against the car before groaning. She hadn't been as prepared as she had hoped. While the police trusted vigilantes now, most of them at least, there were still others who did not want to involve them in police matters.
Yuri knew that if you wanted to fight a spider, you had to send in another spider to do it.
Back with Spider-Man and his Spider Friends, he has taken them to a new hideout that they now call home. With his closet not being the most secure or biggest of places to hide, Walter may or may not have looked the other way and slipped an entire floor off of the building's top. Nobody was using it except for storage, even then, it wasn't much to store.
If there were any places to hide their Spider stuff, where better than the buildings they own? Peter could sneak into them without anyone stopping him. They could also sneak in through the roof and avoid surveillance using their skills.
They now have a new, fancier storage area in the basement, multiple new mannequins for storing spare suits (as well as some alternate suits), and even a place to store all their gadgets.
However, right now, Peter was in the middle of training Anya to hone in on her spider senses, as she'd been having trouble with them in recent weeks. There wasn't anything they could really do to help her; it's always a mental thing. It's different for everyone. For Peter, it took time to get used to the tingling in his head. Miles took a bit longer and still has no real way of controlling it.
Peter said, "You need to focus." He added, using a tennis ball shooter to train her, "The more focused you are, the better your senses will be able to identify the problem."
Anya shouted as she was hit on the head with a tennis ball. "Ouch!"
"Ah, I remember my training," Miles said with a grin and a sigh. "But mine involved a murderous psychopath in a Scorpion suit."
Mary Jane looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "You really wanna start comparing?"
"Just saying," Miles shrugged. "Maybe she just needed an insensitive situation like that."
"I don't feel good throwing her into the line of fire, like I did you," Peter informed him and watched Anya get hit in the arm while she shielded her face. "When I did it with you, it was a need for help. I wasn't willing to put you in danger like that unless you were ready. And even before that, you had at least two months of training with Stick."
"I've been at this for months, and still can't get the basics to work," Anya said, only to have her statement interrupted by a punch to the back of the head. "How many balls are in there?"
Peter chuckled as he heard a ring on his Spider-Phone. The name was pending.
"I gotta take this," Peter said when he saw it was a text from his mom. "God, I'm running late for dinner. Didn't even notice how late it was." He then turned to his friends and apologized. "Sorry, guys, didn't notice how late we were going. I gotta get home. My sister is supposed to be coming back tonight for our graduation, and it's sort of became a welcome home thing."
Miles said, "I still can't believe how well your family took it when they found out you were Spider-Man." He added, "Maybe I should try telling my mom the same thing."
Anya scoffed as she walked around. "I don't plan on telling my dad about what happened to me just yet." She was then hit in the head by a ball, causing her to groan. "Oh, come on!"
Peter chuckled as he backed off. "Well, you guys can either keep training or head home. I'm out of here." He then shot out a web to open the roof entrance and shot himself out. He made his way out and landed on the roof of his family's company. He sighed as he took in the fresh air of the city through his mask and slid down the roof onto the side of the building. "Ah, Starling City. The complaining citizens, the terrible air, and the yearly terrorist attacks. God, I love it here."
As Peter was getting ready to extend his arm to begin swinging home, he felt his head begin to ache and groaned. Clutching his head, he wondered what was wrong with him. Nothing seemed to be happening; there was no Spider-Sense alert, so it couldn't be that. All that felt like was a massive headache.
"Ah, what the hell?" Peter wondered what was wrong with him. "What, am I not drinking enough water? It never bothered me before. But, I've been so distracted by Anya and Miles." He sighed and recalled their conversation. "Stupid, what am I doing wrong here?"
He wondered what his old mentor had done right that he was currently doing wrong. He began to get ready to shoot another web when his fingers slipped off the building. Peter immediately panicked as he tried to clutch back onto the wall, but nothing was working. He began to freak out as he fell from fifty stories up and wondered what was happening. He quickly shot two webs out and wrapped them around his waist like a bungee cord of sorts.
When he was yanked and smacked into the side of his family's business, he at least didn't damage the glass. He panted in excitement and fear, gasping for air and looking down at his fingers.
"What's wrong with me?" Peter wondered as he placed his hand against the wall, watching as his hand finally started to stick again. "That was weird." He then freed himself from the webbing and crawled around for a minute to make sure it wasn't still there. "Whatever it is, it seems like it's over. Must have been some sort of weird glitch with my powers."
Peter didn't take much notice of it as he simply leapt off the building. He began making his way down, before extending his arms and revealing that he now had web wings under his arms to help him glide through the city more easily and quickly.
Peter was able to use his gliding skills to make his way across the city and to the Queen mansion. He was happy to be home, and was glad that his mom and Walter had made sure he had a way of sneaking in without being suspicious. He landed on the left side of the mansion and slipped open his bedroom window and began to remove his outfit.
He managed to get around the ceiling without touching the ground as he was changing. It was a special occasion with Thea's return to the city; therefore, his mother had asked him to dress nicely for the occasion. He figured he could do it, since he rarely dressed up otherwise. He managed to make his way around the room before grabbing his things and sighing. Dropping to the ground, making sure the Spider-Man suit was securely hidden under his clothes to keep the maids from learning, he let out a sigh and prepared himself to see his sister again.
Peter opened the door to his bedroom and made his way to the main hall. "Sorry, I'm so late. I got held up at the...wow, I actually was held at the office."
"Still making those quips, huh?" Thea asked as she stood up from her seat on the couch. Peter was surprised to see that Thea had been sitting there in the living room. "Miss me, Spider-Boy?"
"Thea! Oh, I'm so glad you're back," said Peter as he walked over and hugged his sister.
"Whoa, watch the strength there, buddy," Thea noticed as she observed how Peter was using a little too much force.
"Sorry," said Peter, separating from her to ease the pain. "Seems I don't know my own strength anymore."
"With how you've been anticipating this, I'm not surprised." Oliver joked as he walked over and gave them a small group hug.
Walter assured them, "You don't need to worry, Peter. You're right on time for dinner." As he led everyone to the dining hall.
Everyone was now beginning to try and come up with some form of conversation as they all sat down for dinner. Moria had already gone through the list of what's happening at the mayoral office.
"So, Peter, how are your new quarters treating you?" Walter decided to ask.
"It's been going pretty well. Especially with the help of the training facilities we have added," Peter said as he took a bite. "But training Anya is almost completely different from when I trained Miles. Her skills aren't as honed in as mine or his were."
"She seemed to handle herself well on the field with Slade's men." Oliver remembered.
"We think it was her instincts taking over. But she can't rely on basic instincts all the time." Peter then remembered when Stick taught him that and rubbed his shoulder. "Trust me, Stick taught me that."
"You excited about finally graduating from high school tomorrow?" Walter asks Peter.
"Getting out of school, and helping the community as both Peter Queen and Spider-Man even more?" Peter asks a little excited. "I don't know, I'm gonna miss the old place."
"Well, there is also college." Walter reminded Peter. "Did you get your application put together?"
Peter froze. That was something he has been procrastinating for quite some time. He didn't want to consider the idea of leaving the city, believing that Queen Industries would be a fine enough company to help him keep up.
Saying that out loud, he does feel how stupid that sounds.
"Oh, god, he hasn't even started." Thea recognized that face. "Is that the face I made when you called me out on it?"
"Peter, isn't there like some expiration date when you can do those?" Moria asks.
"I'm-I'm getting to it. I'm just...putting the finishing touches on it." Peter lied.
"We can all tell he's lying, right?" Thea asks.
"Don't need a superpower to figure that out," Moria joked. "But there is something I have been wondering about, Peter. Have you heard about these new vigilantes in the Glades?"
"New vigilantes?" Peter never heard of them. "Other than that Ghost Spider the cops don't want us helping out eith, Uh haven't heard anything."
"Some woman in red going by Jackpot and some new spider girl."
"A second one?" Peter groaned as he rubbed his head, leaning back on his chair. "One was bad enough."
"The Ghost or Anya?" Walter wanted that to be clarified.
Peter wasn't sure how to respond when there was a knock at the door. "Who could that be?" Moria wonders as she got up to see who would be coming this late herself. It was quiet for a minute until finally Moria called out. "Uh, Peter? You should be here."
Now Peter was curious about who was there and got up to go to the door. When he reached it, he saw Moria standing out of the way and he froze in shock when he saw who it was. "Harry?"
Harry Osborn, the man himself, stood in the middle of the doorway with a grin on his face. "Hey, Pete. Guess who's back."
Deep within the Dering Woods, located in Kent, we can see a hunter searching for something. As he studied the ground, he noticed some footprints and a shadowy figure in the darkness. Drawing his dagger, he cautiously approached it. He tried his best to avoid making any noise as he approached the figure.
"You're growing slower in your old age, Sergei," the Hunter said as he went to stab him.
But when he stabbed, it was revealed that it was nothing more than just a jacket. He was confused as he ripped the jacket off the tree and saw nobody around. That was until someone came up behind him without him even knowing. Someone who towered over him.
"A fate you shall not share," Sergei Kravenoff the Hunter stated.
Ever since his last encounter with Spider-Man, he had been humiliated by having spent all of the money he made from his television series on trying to get revenge against him. Well, both of them. But he saw the original Spider-Man as the alpha of the group.
When the hunter tried to stab Kraven, he didn't even flinch as he dodged the blade and grabbed it with his hand. He then grabbed the hunter by the throat and started to choke him, causing him to drop the knife. He has been training with all the greatest trainers from around the world. He has been training for this. To be proven once again that he is the superior alpha.
"I have been in your shadow for hours. Yet you sensed nothing!" Kraven exclaimed in anger. "Pathetic." Without breaking a sweat, he then choked the hunter out and threw him to the side. "I asked for an equal, and this is what you give me?"
He had an entire hunting group with him and they slowly approached Kraven, not wanting to share the fate of the hunter. "Sir...might I suggest...a new hunting ground?"
He saw they were tracking everything, and his hunting skills, showing him everything he had accomplished and what he was capable of. He saw all of the potential targets that he could use for hunting practice before going for his revenge; AraƱa, Prowler, Lizard, Mr. Negative, Rhino, Scorpion, Black Cat, Vulture, Shocker, and Chameleon. And with the recent rise of Metahumans, he could take on a few practice targets along the way.
Karen was happy to see that he was finally strong enough to go up against Spider-Man and Kid Arachnid on their own turf. He grew a wide grin as he saw that revenge was finally afoot. He handed the tablet back to his men and knew it was time to return to Starling and get vengeance on those who had humiliated him.
Kraven says to him, "Light the fires. The great hunt begins."
Then Kraven turns as he returned to his camp that was filled with dozens of hunters he has personally trained, as well as drones, robots that looked like certain animals, and planes all camouflaged to blend into the environment. He has poured the last year of his life into this. And he was going to finally become the alpha predator.
