Once upon a time, there lived a kingdom within the clouds. Dragons were the dominant species below our kind, the water maidens. There was the typical water maiden, who brought rain upon the villages. Ice Maiden brought hail and chilly blizzards during the winter. The Bubble Maiden—that being me—spread joy and happiness with pretty bubbles. Not the best occupation, but it was a part of the water element. We weren't complaining.
Back to the dominant story, in the clouds, dragons created their kingdom after a ten-year war against the humans. Over a misunderstanding that hasn't been solved since then, the dragons and humans split their friendship and lived separate lives. Fifteen years before a glorious history between two species, the dragon king and his mistress gave birth to two children. They were identical in appearances and blood, but they carried unique personalities.
The son of the royal castle, Prince Katsuki, had his mother's appearance. Blonde scales, red eyes, and slim figure for an adorable baby dragon. His twin sister and princess of the dragons, Asano, took on her father's appearance. Brown scales, same red eyes as her brother's, but a slight chubby figure. Still adorable, though. Their parents and the entire kingdom blessed the children, but once they reached the twelve-month age—aka one year—a discovery changed their dynamic.
Katsuki unlocked his ability to breathe fire. However, what he coughed up wasn't fire. They were sparkles. Asano's breathing was normal. Her flames were hotter than her parents', maybe even more. But her brother spat out sparkles that crackled the surrounding air. No one knew someone from the royal bloodline would have this ability. The king and queen were confused in seeing their son's new ability, but they promised to nurture him no matter what.
This was the beginning of one journey Katsuki must partake to learn about himself.
Prince Katsuki, now an eleven-year-old dragon, cradled on his bed of hay. Why was he sobbing? Let us rewind to an incident that changed Katsuki's life forever. The incident occurred at the throne room, when the dragon king, Masaru, was about to begin the coming of age ritual for his children. The ritual would determine a permanent form for his son and daughter. Whether they choose to stay as dragons or take up a form different from their own, it's up to them alone.
Asano, who has grown an ego over her fire-breathing, believed she'll pick her dragon form over choosing a completely different one. Katsuki was nervous about the ritual. He didn't expect to pick a form he would be comfortable in. Through all the self-doubt towards his explosion-breathing powers and Asano's abuse, Katsuki believed he'll choose the second option over the obvious. Minutes before the ritual started, Asano teased her twin brother further.
The anger and irritation rose within Katsuki and he went wild. He used his breath on Asano, leaving a massive mark on her face. Mitsuki, queen of the dragons, noticed the incident and rushed over to Asano. She, along with her husband, were unaware of Asano's spoiled mannerism towards Katsuki. Asano was a playful actress around her parents, but only Katsuki knew her true nature.
Mitsuki and Masaru had a one-on-one talk amongst each other, deciding whether Katsuki is worthy to rule the dragon kingdom. Meanwhile, Asano conjured a devious plan to drive away her brother for good. She visited his room, where we last saw Katsuki sobbing over his actions. He was ashamed of attacking his twin sister. Although Asano wasn't the most generous, she was still a family member.
"What do you want, Asano?" Katsuki wiped globs of snot from his snout. He hopped off his bed of hay and glided towards Asano. She had that devilish smirk on her face, yet Katsuki was too sad to think what she was planning.
"Why, I'm here to tell you something, Explodie." Explodie was a nickname Asano conjured up for Katsuki after discovering his power. It rubbed him the wrong way ever since they turned a year old.
"Is it about our parents?"
"Yes! Mom and Dad are thinking of kicking you out."
Katsuki widened his eyes, the shock vibrating his muscles. His scales felt frigid from the reveal of becoming an outcast. The king and queen hadn't concluded on exiling their son, but the fake news got through to him. He backed away, his wings nearly touching the arched window. Asano chuckled, as she stomped forward, that smirk of hers growing wider. "T-This can't be true. Y-You're-"
"Telling the truth. They had enough of your strange powers, Explodie. You just attacked a royal member of the family, which is a grave crime. With those powers, you'll never get accepted. Ever."
Asano's laughter echoed within the castle. That very laughter shook Katsuki's core even further. She was right; his power wasn't worthy. His sense of self-doubt increased to where he believed his existence was worthless. Tears flowed down his scaly cheeks, unable to speak words and remaining silent. Sobs chocked his throat as he flapped his wings, floating inches off the cobblestoned floor. "You're right! I don't belong here!" He rocketed through the window, a trail of tear droplets sprinkled behind him.
The king and queen, upon hearing the commotion, arrived at the room. They were too late. Prince Katsuki ran away after being convinced by Asano's lie. They were speechless and asked Asano why Katsuki ran away. She lied to them, saying he felt sorry about attacking her out of blind rage. Masaru had suspicions towards Asano's words, but Mitsuki—being the most oblivious to her daughter's intentions—agreed without hesitations. "Did you see what Katsuki did? We can't have his power destroying the kingdom. I'm sorry, Masaru. Our son isn't coming back."
Masaru wouldn't want to start another argument with his wife. He accepted the conclusion. Because of family issues, the ritual was delayed and will resurface in four years. Prince Katsuki left home, believing his powers differed from other dragons. It's difficult being different. I know, because my sister used their powers to evolve the Mortal Lands through the weather. My powers only bought joy to humans. They mentioned I should use my powers for better purposes, but I'm comfortable with my responsibility. So when I met Katsuki around my Bubble Forest, I had to cheer him up.
Bubble Forest
"Prince Katsuki? What's the matter, young one?" I took on my transparent bubble form. A graceful white gown covered my translucent body, as I glided to Katsuki, who sat on a plushable cloud bush.
"I... I had a moment that showed me how destructive I was. You wouldn't understand, Ms. Bubble Maiden."
"Of course, I understand, Young Katsuki. Me and my sister have been watching your family for generations. You're the first generation to have a peculiar ability. Explosion-breathe? That sounds..."
"Horrible? The worst ability any dragon has?" Katsuki looked away, vapors shot out of his nostrils. He was upset in the incident he caused. I sat next to him, careful not to touch his pointy scales. Wouldn't want to burst in front of him.
"It's not horrible, Young Katsuki. Explosion-Breathe is one ability that needs practice."
"No!" Katsuki stood up and flew to a faraway cloud bush. I guessed he doesn't want to see his ability as a good quirk. I flew after him, not giving up on cheering the young prince's mood. "My powers are villainous. I hurt my sister and my parents kicked me out."
"No, you're not seeing the true potential of your abilities."
"How do I do that? See the positive side of my weird abilities?" He faced me with watery tears. The incident must have been traumatic.
"By going on a journey. If you don't feel like going back home, I can send you to the Mortal Lands."
"The Mortal Lands."
Katsuki followed me with enthusiasm on his face, as I guided him to the bubble lake. A whirlpool of rainbow-glistening water, surrounded by a fluffy cloud rim. "This is my bubble lake, Young Katsuki. I can perform a spell that'll teleport you to the Mortal Lands. From there, it's up to you to decide what path you'll take."
He scanned the lake, enjoying the multi-colored beams of light, but lowered his head. "The offer is kind, but I can't accept it. What if the humans see me? They'll begin another war on my kind."
"I knew you would say that." With hand gestures near the lake, a giant bubble emerged. Its thick barrier amazed Katsuki. "This bubble will convert your dragon form into a human's. The ritual your parents arranged was supposed to let you and your sister choose what form you prefer, but they delayed it, I presume."
"Can it really change my look?"
"My magic has limits, but transformation isn't as hard as it looks. Don't worry, Young Katsuki. I'll watch you from afar. If you see a bubble floating around, that'll be me watching."
"Hmm..." Katsuki pondered, while facing the bubble with curiosity. "This is a hard decision."
"You must hurry. I believe my sisters are searching for you, on behalf of your parents."
Katsuki chose between staying in the dragon kingdom, where he'll be an outcast forever. Or go to the Mortal Lands and change his destiny. He closed his eyes, recapped why he was here with me, and nodded. With opened eyes, Katsuki announced his answer. "I'm ready."
"Good, now poke through the bubble's barrier and let its magic morph you."
He performed the instructions, poking his head first, but the barrier's thickness prevented him from stepping inside. As he pushed harder, I heard my sisters coming. Water Maiden, my older sister, might come out as easy-going, but she took her responsibilities seriously. Same applied to Ice Maiden, my other older sister. Her icy personality appeared offensive, but well-meaningful.
"Hurry, Young Katsuki! I'll hold them off!"
He didn't respond, more focused on getting through the bubble's barrier. Through my telepathy, I commanded Katsuki to use his claws. 'Put your claws on the bubble. Push with all your might, Young Katsuki! Let the power do its purpose!'
'Don't know what that means, but okay!'
Katsuki planted his claws against the bubble's barrier. His snout opened a hole that grew bigger as he leaned forward. 'I can do this!' The claws ignited an orange glow, which Katsuki wasn't aware of until he shouted. A roar erupted from him, as the claws exploded the barrier. The barrier had an opening big enough for Katsuki to pass through. Once he was inside the barrier, I chanted an ancient spell that activated the lake. It swirled the bubble inside its center. I'd heard Katsuki screaming from the sudden movements, but I was glad. Glad to see the young prince wanting to make a change. A few seconds later, the bubble and Prince Katsuki disappeared within the bubble lake.
Lying was a crime I wouldn't resort, but I promised Katsuki a better life on the Mortal Lands. It was the least I could do for him. My sister believed me, despite my lying being absolute trash. They reported the bad news to King Masaru and Queen Mitsuki. It devastated them, but they continued their royal duties. Asano wasn't sad to hear her brother's disappearance. Instead, she was joyous. Without her twin brother in the way, Asano can achieve her goal of ruling the dragon kingdom.
While the dragon kingdom mourned the lost of its prince, Katsuki and the bubble landed near a village. The bubble popped and Katsuki—now in his human form—plopped into a river. He fell unconscious from the rough float down, but a fellow village boy saved him. Izuku Midoriya was a gentle, kind-hearted boy with a heroic dream. He wished to be a hero, just like All-Knight, the greatest hero since the great war against Katsuki's people.
Izuku carried Katsuki to his cottage, which was shaped like a mushroom. His mother aided Izuku in healing Katsuki. They later adopted him into their family, even though they don't know where he came from. Izuku even gave Katsuki an original surname: Bakugo.
Four Years Later
Katsuki Bakugo accepted his new humanistic life on the Mortal Lands. Over the last four years, Katsuki practiced his powers, which were at his palms. The Bubble Maiden—me again—thought Katsuki's powers would be more efficient from his hands, instead of explosions coughing out of his mouth. It worked, as Katsuki discovered how potent the change was. He can knock over trees, fly by extending his arms back, and propel himself higher. There were possibilities he learned as a human.
Now, he and his friend, Izuku Midoriya, ventured to middle school, specifically their last grade. Katsuki, being new to human culture, asked Izuku questions about education. He struggled to understand clothes and why they were important. This confused Izuku, but he and his mother, Inko, taught Katsuki about their village. Many villages were unique, but all shared one aspect: heroes.
All-Knight expressed great heroism across Musutafu Village, Izuku's home. He saved villagers with a smile on his face. Izuku, like most students at his school, dreamed of being heroes like All-Knight. Surprisingly, he managed to become his apprentice after an encounter with a dangerous sludge monster.
"I can't believe he turned me into his apprentice, Kacchan."
"Yeah, that's good. Ugh, why does this uniform feel tight? It's hugging my skin."
The young prince wasn't used to uniforms, but the school requested him to wear it. Izuku chuckled, as he and Katsuki walked down the dirt path. "You'll get used to it, Kacchan."
"This is the third uniform I'd changed into. It looks like I'm going through a growth spurt here."
The prince thought the growth spurts were a part of his humanistic development. He stuck with that belief, but that didn't stop Izuku's mother from buying a new uniform, one a size higher. Katsuki was a couple inches taller than Izuku, yet they never complained about it. The closest of friends would never argue over petty things, like height differences. When they reached the school, Katsuki encountered an irksome foe. Unnecessarily a foe, but a daily nuisance.
"Explosion Boy and Deku are here. Nice, just the stress relief we need."
The blonde-haired boy with red eyes and lean frame was Rimaki Norinori, the middle school's infamous bully. He and his squad bothered Katsuki and Izuku throughout the junior high years. Rimaki teased Katsuki's magical abilities, hence the name 'Explosion Boy.' As for Izuku, he got the worst punishment from Rimaki. He doesn't know about his apprenticeship with All-Knight, yet he berated Izuki on his lack of magical prowess. 'Deku' became the namaste Rimaki and his goons loved bringing up.
They weren't too happy to see them. Almost all weekday, they bump into Rimaki and were forced to listen to his gloating. He came from a rich family, so much that the Todoroki family—rulers of Izuku's village—accepted them as partners.
"Look, we don't want to start anything, Rimaki." Katsuki tried stuffing his hands into his uniform's pockets, but he forgot where they were. That made his attempt funny to Rimaki and his goons.
"You just started something, Explosion Boy! You made us chuckle like crazy!" He hunched over, followed by his friends.
Katsuki took deep, graveling breaths. He practiced controlling his anger around villagers. Lately, he'd been successful, but Rimaki came and has been disrupting Katsuki's streak. His no-anger streak. Izuku, noticing Katsuki's widened red eyes and ash-blonde hair spiking upward, stepped towards Rimaki and extended his shaky hands. "Let's not escalate the issue, Rimaki. Please?"
"Or what, Deku?" Rimaki gripped Izuku's shirt collar, lifting him off the ground. Compared to Katsuki and Izuku, Rimaki was the tallest student in their homeroom class. Standing around six-feet and four inches, Rimaki knew his athletic skills were amazing. That already inflated his ego and temper.
Upon seeing this, Katsuki almost yelled at Rimaki, but remembered not to explode in rage. He had flashes of the incident, the one that pushed him into living in Izuku's village. Asano's laughter echoed within his head, then his parent's disapproval on their faces, and his explosion-breathe causing his upbringing. Katsuki felt like snapping. He gripped through his bed of blonde hair, bent over, letting drops of sweat litter a small spot on the floor.
"Aw, look fellas! Explosion Boy's trying to maintain his shit. Well, how about I burst his bubble!?" Rimaki, without warning, punched Izuki in the face. He continued doing it until a nose bleed painted Izuku's lips red.
Katsuki, unsettled in Rimaki's methods, looked at his best friend. Then, something snapped. His ears stopped listening to the thumps of punches landing on Izuku's face. Rimaki's laughter muted, as Katsuki's chest pounded. Like a drum, it pounded louder within Katsuki's ears. Heat seeped under his skin and muscles. Rage clouded his better judgment the longer he watched Izuku's pain entertain Rimaki.
The floor beneath them shook. Rimaki and his cronies noticed Katsuki's body shivering. Not from embarrassment or fear, but rage. Pure, uncontrolled, bottled rage. They saw Katsuki's eyes glowing crimson red. "I'll kill you, Rimaki!"
"Hmph, I like to see you—"
"RGH!"
A wave of flames encased Katsuki and lit up the hallway. The boys backed away, their skins picking up the flame's immense heat. The walls, ceilings, and windows were melting from Katsuki's unexpected transformation. "Kacchan?" Izuku, Rimaki, and the cronies watched, as Katsuki grew bigger. The flames vanished and revealed a terrifying sight. A blonde-scaled dragon with piercing red eyes and lean body.
Fear engulfing him, Rimaki let go of Izuku and ran away. "WHAT THE HELL!?" His cronies followed their leader, screaming like high school girls. Izuku remained on the floor, unaware of the hallway about to collapse. His mind raced from the unexpected scene before him. Katsuki, his best friend for four years, transformed into an explosion-breathing dragon.
"KACCHAN!"
Two Hours Later
'...With those powers, you'll never get accepted. Ever.'
Asano's chilling quote woke Katsuki out of his brief coma. He laid on Izuku's makeshift bed, as he caught up to what happened. "We were at the school. Rimaki was punching Izuku. Wait, where's Izuku!?"
"Izuku, your human friend, is alright. He's in the living room with his mother, as we speak."
Katsuki noticed a bubble floating near the arched window. He approached it, but searing pain flowed under his skin. "What the hell?"
"It's complicated but open the window. My voice will sound clearer."
Ignoring the sudden burst of pain, Katsuki opened the window to let the bubble in. The bubble's reflection showed my face, which startled Young Katsuki. "Bubble Maiden?"
"It seems you've grown, Young Katsuki. A fifteen-year-old boy with promise."
He shook his head, ignoring my quip, and asked a question. "What happened?"
"To the school or your friend?"
"Both!"
"Shh, don't get angry, Young Katsuki. I'll explain everything. First, a ravenous beast has destroyed the school's upper half."
Katsuki rose an eyebrow towards the information. "Ravenous beast?"
"It's hard to describe this next part, so it's best that you sit down."
He listened and sat on Izuku's mattress.
"When dragons, like you, turn a specific age in their lives, they gain the ability to shapeshift. It has been that way for generations. The ritual your parents arranged four years ago was supposed to determine what form you'll choose. Once you chose that form, you're stuck with that form forever. Or you'll continue shapeshifting between human and dragon forever. Whatever the outcome, the royal children must decide alone."
"So, my incident prevented me from choosing? I don't get it. Why didn't I shapeshift four years ago?"
Good question.
"That was because you weren't near the specific age. Queen Mitsuki, your mother, realized the mistake, and moved the ritual to today. Well, actually, it's in three days."
Katsuki widened his eyes after I announced the ritual date. Three days until he chooses. It worried him. He stood up and approached the bubble. "You're not kidding, Bubble Maiden. If I don't complete this ritual in time, I'll be stuck having shapeshifting powers!?"
"That seems about it, Young Katsuki. I'm sorry for not addressing this before I sent you to the Mortal Lands."
He grunted and stomped in one place. "This can't be happening! For four years, my life changed! Izuku and his mother took me in without asking questions about my whereabouts. I was happy to have them as a family. Now, I have shapeshifting powers, and..."
His body grew a few inches taller. That can't be good. I silenced Katsuki, knowing his rage will activate the transformation. "There is a way for you to complete the ritual, Young Katsuki. Find my bubble lake."
"Your bubble lake? Isn't that near the dragon kingdom?"
"Yes, but I'd made two others on the Mortal Lands. One is close to the ancient ruins where the dragons used to live.
Katsuki rubbed his chin, pondering over my description. He hummed until he snapped his fingers. "That's right. Izuku mentioned the ruins somewhere. I think it's outside the village's perimeters. Ugh, there's no time. That's a four-day hike."
Then, something clicked inside of Young Katsuki. He remembered he had his powers. Plus, the shapeshifting he discovered not too long ago. "Maybe I'll use my powers. But the shapeshifting is new, though. It's going to be hard controlling it."
"I'm sure you can master it, Young Katsuki. You're a smart boy."
"Adaptable, meaning."
"Whatever you say, just remember that you have three days to find the bubble lake, hop into it, and reach the castle before the ritual ends."
"Alright, I'll get onto it. Before I go, how's my family doing?"
"Your mother and father have been ruling the kingdom after your supposed disappearance. They believed you really ran away from home. Your sister, Asano, has grown more egotistical and lazy."
Katsuki rolled his eyes, as if he knew his sister would act that way.
"Okay, Young Katsuki. I must be going now. Good luck." The bubble popped in front of Katsuki's face. Splatters of soapy water spread across his cheeks, but he wiped them off.
"I must go to the lake within three days. Sounds simple and since I have powers, I can get there in no time."
The door squeaked open and Izuku barged in, startling Katsuki. He asked if he was alright, but failed to realized his nudity. Katsuki's uniform was torn apart during his dragon transformation earlier. "My mother and I were talking about the incident, Kacchan. Listen, you don't have to explain. I already know. You're not from this village. You're from up there. In the clouds?"
This surprised Katsuki. Izuku was a smart boy, possibly smarter than him. He had the best grades at school and adapted to better environments than Katsuki. His mouth was agape, while Izuku explained how he knew he was a dragon-turned-human. First, Izuku found Katsuki completely naked and almost unconscious. "Your knowledge about our culture was another trait I caught up. I said nothing, because of our history with your kind, Kacchan. Sorry for not acknowledging this, but..."
Katsuki extended his hand to Izuku, prompting him to stop talking. "Don't begin your lengthy dialogues, Izuku. I'm sorry for keeping this from you and your mom. The true is I left home after I hurt my twin sister. We were born on the same day, but when our abilities manifested, she gained the traditional fire-breathing. I, however, got a strange ability. I breathe explosions.
My parents and Asano weren't accepting of my abilities. Eleven years after manifesting the ability, my anger got the better of me. I used it on Asano, hurting her. She said my parents were kicking me out of the castle. I agreed and fled to the bubble forest, where I met the Bubble Maiden. She was the one who sent me here. Her magic converted my dragon form into a human. She failed to mention the shapeshifting bit until I woke up and she communicated through a small bubble."
Izuku blinked his eyes to recover from the load of information his best friend spilled. With a vigorous head shake, Izuku said, "it explains why you arrived at the village buck-naked."
"So, I need to find the Bubble Maiden's bubble lake near the ancient ruins. I'll complete the ritual, choose what form I prefer, and poof! My life can go back to normal." Katsuki faced the window, the sunlight warming his bare skin. For a fifteen-year-old, Katsuki had an athletic build.
"It sounds like a tiresome journey, Kacchan. Do you want me to join?"
The question paused Katsuki's moment of relief. He turned around with a raised eyebrow. "Why?"
"While you were unconscious, the newspaper gazelle released the incident at our school. 'Giant reptilian beast attacked Musutafu Village Junior High School.' I fear if anyone recognizes that 'beast' as a dragon, the Todoroki family might start a war with your kind, Kacchan."
Izuku's news about the incident spreading like wildfire shocked Katsuki. His face went pale, and he slumped on Izuku's bed. "Right, my screw-up scene caught attention, didn't it?"
"Kacchan..."
"Don't say it, Izuku. You're right, we should leave the village now before anyone gets suspicious. Let your mom know."
"Alright. We'll leave during the evening. The perfect time to sneak out of the village without getting seen."
Even though dragging his first human friend along the journey felt disrespectful, Katsuki thought hard about Izuku's plan. Almost everyone around Musutafu Village has seen Katsuki's dragon form, but they don't know it was a dragon. The best course of action is sneaking out at night and beginning the journey. Izuku left the bedroom and notified his mom about Katsuki.
Unlike most parents, Inko trusted her son. She wouldn't spill their secret, even if they left on a thrilling adventure. With her approval, Izuku and Katsuki got dressed. Wearing a green leather vest over a white long-sleeve blouse, blue jeans, and brown boots, Izuku marched out his bedroom. He wore a scabbard which held his apprentice sword All-Knight gave.
In the bathroom, Katsuki never wore a shirt. He thought a shirt would slow down his upper body momentum. The only exceptions was a pair of black jeans, black leather boots, and a crimson red cape with cream frills on the collar section. He stepped out, confidence swelling in his chest. All feelings surged through Katsuki as he met up with Izuku near the front entrance. "Wait, Katsuki. I got this from the mail."
Before Izuku opened the door, Inko presented a necklace with three colored charms. All of them had the same fang shape, but each row showed different colors. Katsuki saw green, blue, and orange. "What is it?"
"A note said this necklace will help you on the journey. Here you go."
She smiled, then presented the necklace to Katsuki. After putting the necklace on, Katsuki thanked Inko and promised her that Izuku will be safe. They walked out the mushroom cottage, a purpose roaming through their heads. Izuku felt like a hero, just thinking of how All-Knight completes his quests. Katsuki felt like his life may have meaning once he completes the ritual at the dragon kingdom.
While they venture into the forest, trouble lurked at the Todoroki Castle.
Todoroki Castle
Enji Todoroki, or Endeavor, the Red Flame Knight, sat on his red bronze throne. News of a mysterious giant reptilian beast interested him. While villagers believed the beast came from a new species, Enji had other thoughts. It was a dragon. The tales of dragons moving up to the clouds was a myth to Enji. Until now, that is. "Shoto! Come into the throne room, immediately!"
Shoto Todoroki, youngest son of Endeavor, strode into the throne room. By the look on his face, Shoto wasn't interested in hearing his father's news. "What is it, Father?"
"Don't give me that tone, boy. The news states of a giant beast attacking Musutafu Village Junior High. My hunch says a dragon attacked that school."
Shoto leaned forward, as to say, 'continue.'
"I believe the attack was a sign. The dragons have ignited another war on humans. As ruler of Musutafu Village and-"
"Second ranked knight of the Pro-Knight Society." Shoto just had to jab his father. He knew Enji hated All-Knight and his popularity across Musutafu Village. Despite ruling the village, because of the family's history, Enji can't take number one.
"Don't start, Shoto. This is serious. I want you to find this dragon. Start with the forest, then the ocean coast. If it's not there, search through the ancient ruins."
"But, Father. The ancient ruins is on a distant island, away from the village."
"Then, borrow a boat, Shoto. It's easy."
Shoto, already tired of his father's stubborn behavior, clenched his fists into balls. He wanted to say something, but backed down. "Alright, Father. I'll find this dragon."
"And once you do, kill it. Cut its head off and show it to me."
The description shuttered Shoto. He can't behead a dragon. He looked into his father's eyes, seeing seriousness. This wasn't a joke. With a bow, Shoto accepted his father's quest. Once his son left the throne room, Enji stared at a portrait of a young red-haired man. His menacing blue eyes should scare any man, but not Enji. That's because the man was Enji's ancestor.
"I knew our time was coming. As current holder of the Todoroki name, I'll make sure the village is safe from these dragons."
